Equipping individuals with sex-related information, motivation and behavioral skills is the main objective of sexuality education. It will enable the people especially the youth to avoid problems related to sexuality and to achieve sexual well-being aspects. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of sexuality education integration in Grade 10 Biology instruction in relation to student’s performance at Pinamungajan National High School. Quantitative and qualitative designs were used to determine the entry and exit knowledge of the students on sexuality education, looked into the pre and post-test performance of the students, the pre-post mean gain in integrating sexuality education, the module that was developed used for effective integration and the challenges met by the teacher in integrating sexuality education. The study was limited only to the Grade 10 students because reproductive system is being taught in Biology 10 instruction and it’s a good avenue for sexuality educ...

The study examined the existing research findings on adolescent reproductive health issues and their policy implications in the Asian nations. As a result of significant delays in age at marriage, among both girls and boys, and falling age at menarche, the period during which premarital sex can take place is getting longer. Although the mean age at marriage is increasing, the mean age at first intercourse is declining. Poor nutritional status of many female adolescents in the region raise special concern to their reproductive role. Complications of pregnancy, delivery, and puerperium are the main threats and causes of morbidity and mortality among adolescent girls. Family planning can reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with adolescent pregnancies by enabling them to postpone childbearing. However, they are usually excluded from most of the family planning or reproductive health services as currently provided in the region. Even though STDs are also higher among the adoles...

Social analysts and researchers have documented some of the reasons why pregnancies among teenagers have been increasing in spite of interventions from government health agencies and NGOs. Hence, reasons varies from socio-economic status (Dulita et al., 2013), lack of education (Eloundou-Enyegue, 2004), teenagers’ initiation to sexual activity (Grace, Ihuoma and Temitope, 2013), family history of teenage births (Wall-Wieler, Ross and Nickel, 2016), etc. Sexuality and desire are also inherent components of the human psyche. These factors influence a person’s attitudes and behavior and may also be heightened during certain periods of a person’s lifetime such as adolescence. Behavior and attitude of the youth change not because they are losing what some would lightly refer to as “moral values” but because these do evolve through time as the environment and contexts do. Their perceptions on issues may vary from that of previous generations. It is therefore important to understand the issue of teen pregnancy in this context, probing shifts and trends in behaviors, attitudes and perceptions of the young. (PhilRights, 2014). Moreover, there are also other significant reasons why teenage pregnancy has become prevalent. Based on the aforementioned, the study aims to determine the factors affecting teenage pregnancy in Brgy. Tina, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat has emerged.
