The CRICKET MATCH ESSAY ( NARRATIVE)
A cricket match that i watched.
Games and sports are a good source of amusement. People have always sought rescue in games and sports to escape dullness and monotony. They provide us a time to forget our worries and get lost in great pleasure.
Last Saturday a one-day cricket match of 50 overs was played between two reputed teams of Kashmir YCC and BCC in Srinagar at Bakshi Stadium. A large number of spectators had come to witness the match.
Please enable JavaScript
BCC started at a rather slow pace. However, runs started coming once the opening pair settled well. They scored 50 runs in the first fifteen overs. In the next five overs, they hit 30 runs. Soon after the spinners were brought in, they managed to move the ball and checked the flow of runs. It made the batsmen impatient and they started hitting the ball desperately. They started losing wickets and at one occasion slumped to 125 for seven. They needed 74 runs in the last 14 fourteen overs with only three wickets in hand. The vice-captain showed courage, skill, and aggression. He hit twenty runs in 38th over with 2 sixes and 2 fours. There was a bowling change which again proved disastrous and the hitter was clean bowled. With two wickets in hand BCC still needed 36 runs in 36 balls. In the next two overs, they scored 13 runs. At this stage, the 9th wicket fell.
In the last over they had to score eight runs to win. They scored five runs off the first five balls. Now the last ball had to be bowled –one wicket for YCC and three runs by BCC was the victory target. There was extreme sensation all around. The bowler of YCC team came racing and bowled a ball of 150km speed. It took a lucky edge and crossed the fence giving a brilliant victory to BCC.
Both the teams were given warm applause for their struggle and brilliant performance. I really enjoyed the match very much.

Describe a Live Sports Match that You have Watched: IELTS Cue Card Sample One
Being an ardent fan of cricket, I watch cricket almost every single day and have watched all the cricket matches till now. But I’ve always preferred watching cricket matches in the stadium and for that, I’ve travelled overseas many a times. But I’ve always liked watching cricket matches in my own country because the vibe that is there in the cricket stadiums is just amazing.
People singing the national anthem of our country, the goosebumps that I get every time I hear it – all of this feels so good!
So, today I’ll be sharing with you the one time that I went to watch a live match which was my best experience I had till now.
What was It?
There are times when I have to watch cricket matches in the comfort of my home – sitting with my family and friends; having popcorn in our hands. It’s just amazing. but what’s more, is that I really enjoy watching cricket matches in the cricket stadium. So, it is about the time when I watched a live international cricket match.
When did You Watch the Match?
It was about the month of August back then, I watched this international cricket match at a newly built cricket stadium near my hometown. And Oh! The feeling; was just amazing.
I’ve never felt so good in my entire life I guess; it was an outstanding match. Everywhere the crowd was cheering for their favourite batsmen; birds chirping; the weather was so amazing. It was all just perfect.
What was it Like?
The constant roars from the crowd made the match even more interesting than it was. And the best part was that after an hour or so when the match had started, I met my friends from my college. So, we all joined each other and had guffaws of laughter.
This match was a day and night match, the 2nd innings was played under floodlights. During this time, the whole crowd went berserk.
How did You Feel about It?
For me, this was like a dream come true. It was an outstanding and out-of-the-world experience for me. I enjoyed it so much that I can’t even express my feelings in words.
My all-time favourite sports star was just playing in front of me – Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and David Warner – everyone was there just playing so gracefully and effortlessly in front of me. It was so inspiring to see them in front of me. And it was the day that I decided to watch almost all the matches in the cricket stadium only. I loved this experience.
And what made the day even more special was the fact that my country, my nation – won the match. Yes! India won the match! And towards the end of the match, I managed to get the autograph of Mr Virat Kohli. I can never forget that day.
Describe a Live Sports Match that You have Watched: IELTS Cue Card Sample Two
You might have heard people watching live matches every day in the stadium and it’s because those people are able to afford the high amount that these stadium owners charge for a single match. But to be honest, I’ve never got the opportunity to watch even a single match in the stadium and that’s not because I don’t enjoy watching it – this is because I really cannot afford to pay those high amounts; that’s just too much for me.
But it was that one time that I was lucky enough to watch a match – a live match in the stadium.
So, today I’ll be sharing my experience with you.
I really like basketball and it was that one time that I was lucky enough to watch a match in the stadium. So, one day I was listening to the radio and was enjoying my work along with listening to some great music and that’s when it happened.
On the radio, the RJ asked a question and I just randomly called their number to provide the answer to that question because I knew it. And to my good luck, they picked up my phone in just a single ring and Voila! my answer was absolutely correct.
But what came after that was something that I had never expected – I won two tickets for the latest basketball match that was happening in our town back then. I was shocked, surprised, and happy at the same time.
I watched the match a week after I gave the answer to that question and decided to take my sister with me who is a big-time basketball fan. We both went all dressed up to enjoy the match and have the best time of our lives.
It was just an amazing feeling.
The stadium was all crowded and most of the crowd that could be seen that day were just university students who were all excited, enthusiastic, and were providing their overwhelming support to the respective teams.
When the match started, the crowd went all gaga and they just went crazy and started cheering for their teams, and singing their jingle for the teams they were supporting.
I felt so good about it – it was an astounding feeling enjoying the match in front of my eyes. I can never forget this surreal experience that I had back then. All thanks to that radio show that provided me with such an astonishing opportunity to have such an eye-changing experience.
PS: Fun Fact – From that day onwards, I have started taking part in more radio quizzes so that I could get as many opportunities to watch more live matches as before.

IELTS Speaking Part 3: Follow up Questions
Here are some examples of follow up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to cue card “ Describe a live sports match that you have watched ”.
1. Do you prefer to watch live sports or watch them on TV?
Being a sports enthusiast, I love to watch live sports. However, due to a shortage of time, I have to watch it on television. Although there are many advantages of watching a sports match on television, it cannot beat the fun and excitement generated in a stadium.
2. Why do some people like to watch live sports?
The main reason is the environment inside the stadium or playground. There is no denying this conviction that sports matches shown on television these days are beautifully picturised, yet they cannot match the excitement shown in a live match. When you are in the middle of the crowd in a stadium, you feel like an integral part of the playing squad.
3. What kind of sports do Indian people like to watch?
In the past decades, most Indians used to watch live cricket matches. There was a relatively small audience for other sports. However, nowadays, Indian people show interest in the live telecast of all kinds of sports like hockey, football, tennis, basketball and so on. And due to this massive change, many sports which were on the verge of extinction have revived. Kabaddi is the prime example of this, due to a league of Kabaddi it is back in focus.
4. Do you think competition is good for students?
Yes, competition is worthwhile for students because it brings the best out of them. When they compete, they plan and execute. Sometimes they have to adopt new strategies and techniques to beat the opponent. The biggest benefit they get is that they learn how to work with determination, dedication and discipline. Therefore, healthy competition brings a paradigm shift in the lives of children.

“Cricket to us was more than play; it was a worship in the summer sun.” ~ Edmund Charles Blunden
Two things have made their place in the heart of Indians forever; Shahrukh Khan (The King Khan of Bollywood) and the sport of cricket. In our country, cricket is a religion and players like Sachin Tendulkar are considered as god. This game is enjoyed by small children as well as office going adults. It never fails to amuse us. You can find people playing cricket in world-class stadiums as well as on every corner of a not so well-lit street. You can never know which side the match is going to go as nothing is sure till the last ball is bowled.
I remember being the witness to one such nail-biting finish. I’m sure that all cricket enthusiasts would still remember the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) Finale; how all of us were glued to our television screens and were just waiting for the clock to show 7:30 pm! But I was one of the very few lucky ones who got a chance to visit the stadium in Hyderabad and watch the roller coaster of a finale in front of my own eyes.
My family and I live in Delhi, but since my father is such a cricket lover, we had made plans in advance to watch the finale. It was going to be held in Chennai initially, but because of some reasons, the venue was shifted to the city of Hyderabad. We purchased the match tickets as soon as they went online. All of the thousands of tickets that were available were sold within a record -breaking time of 2 minutes.
That is a mere 120 seconds, just think about it! But then, this is something that one can expect when the two teams playing head-on against each other were Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The match was indeed a clash of the Titans. We landed at the Hyderabad airport and checked into our hotel. After taking a short 2- hour nap, we took a cab and set out for the stadium. There was so much traffic. It felt as if every person in the city was going to the stadium.

Our tickets were double-checked at the entry gate, and we then reached our seats. The stadium felt so lively and was full of people cheering and supporting their favourite team. I doubt if even one seat would have been empty! We were waiting for the toss to start while my father went to bring some snacks and cold drinks for my sister and me. Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians, won the toss and elected to bat first. We all were shouting at the top of our voices and just couldn’t wait for even one more second for the match to begin.
The match started and seemed to favour the yellow side. Mumbai Indians lost some of their crucial wickets early in the game including that of their captain for only 15 runs. Bowlers Deepak Chahar and Imran Tahir seemed to give the blue batsmen a tough time. The supporters of Mumbai Indians had suddenly turned very quiet. But then came Kieron Pollard and struck a new hope for his side. He played some brilliant shots that went literally through the roof! The blue side posted a score total of 149 runs for a loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. It was now time for the lions of Chennai to work magic with their bat.
The batsmen of Chennai Super Kings started quite well and kept the run rate exceptionally high. But as soon as Faf du Plessis lost his wicket, things started going south for the team. No other batsmen except for Shane Watson was able to perform exceedingly well. Even our favourite helicopter shot hitter, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was run out for only two runs. At the last ball, the Chennai side needed only one run to draw the game and two runs to claim the trophy.
If not anything else, the audience was expecting at least a super over. But one should not merely expect something beforehand when a talented bowler like Lasith Malinga stands with the ball in his hand on the other side. Malinga bowled a superb delivery under so much pressure. He bowled an LBW (Leg Before Wicket) and brought the Mumbai Indians to victory.

Long Essay on A Cricket Match 500 Words for Kids and Students in English
Saturdays are a holiday in school for us. but last Saturday the entire school was present. We were to have a cricket match with the Sardar Patel boys, starting at 10 in the morning. While the home team as well as the guest team were getting ready, the stands filled up with students, teachers and even a number of enthusiastic parents.
Exactly at 10 am, Mr Bakshi, our cricket coach along with the coach of the visiting team came to the pitch. They were accompanied by the two captains. The SP captain won the toss and he chose to bat first. As our home team came on to the field and took their positions, there was loud cheering from the stands. Then entered the two batsmen with the captain of SP facing the first ball. Ranjeet, our top bowler was known for his spins.
The captain barely managed to hit the first onslaught. The first over ended as a maiden over. However all our hopes began to dampen when in the second over the first ball was hit to the boundary. It was followed by a quick succession of runs that made us cross our fingers.
Then suddenly OUT! The middle stump was flung back and the umpire raised his right hand’s index finger. By lunch time the SP team had garnered a good 260 runs. It being a 20 overs match our team was faced with a herculean task to match their score.
After lunch, amidst loud cheering, Sunil our sports captain and Prakash our schools top athlete came in as the opening batsmen. From the very first ball they showed their mettle. Runs came pouring in as both of them sent the balls flying to the boundary. Just as we were sure of winning the match Prakash hit the ball for a six, but was caught out. A loud exclamation of disappointment went up from the crowd. Then followed some of our middle order batsmen. Except for one who was run out at zero all the others managed to add on a decent amount of runs.
As the day began to come to a close the two team fought on. With only the last over remaining the home team was still short of 10 runs. Any thing could happen. Our captain Sunil was still standing and as he faced the ball, we could see the determination on his face. But the SP team were no greenhorns. They had set the field in a manner that would make it difficult for him to score a boundary. The three players at slip would prevent him from taking the singles. We watched with bated breath. All our hopes pinned on our captain. The first ball he just stopped but the second he sent flying over the stands. We still could win! The SP team closed in around the batsmen who looked around desperately for a gap. Then on the second last ball, Abhay the other batsman hit a resounding 4. Yes! the home team had scored a total of 261 runs and won the match.
As the two teams returned to the stands everyone stood up to cheer and applaud. It had been an exciting match and our team captain retained his title as the most popular student. I shall remember this match for a long time to come.

Cricket is played between two teams of eleven players each, and the goal of the game is to score more runs than the other team. The game is played on a large oval-shaped field, and each team takes turns batting and fielding. The batting team tries to score runs by hitting the ball and running back and forth between two sets of wickets, while the fielding team tries to prevent the batting team from scoring by catching the ball and getting the batsmen “out.”
One of the unique aspects of cricket is its length. Unlike many other sports, a single match can last several days, and there are even longer format matches, such as test matches, which can last up to five days. For example, cricket is often played in all-white attire, a tradition that dates back to the 19th century. The sport also has a strong code of ethics and sportsmanship, with players expected to play fair and respect the decisions of the umpires and referees.
In conclusion, cricket is a sport with a rich history, passionate fans, and talented athletes. It is a sport that combines strategy, endurance, and tradition, and it continues to captivate fans around the world. Cricket is a sport that has been enjoyed by millions of people around the world for centuries. It is a game filled with passion and excitement, and it has become an integral part of many cultures. In this essay, we will explore the history and importance of cricket, as well as its impact on today’s society. So come along with us on this journey to discover the fascinating world of cricket!
Introduction to Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game that is played between two teams of eleven players each. The game is played on a rectangular field with a pitch in the center. The pitch is where the bowler, who is one of the players from the fielding team, Bowls the ball to the batsman, who is one of the players from the batting team. The object of the game is for the batsman to score runs by hitting the ball with his bat and running to the other end of the pitch. The bowler tries to prevent this by bowling deliveries which are difficult for the batsman to hit or by getting him out. When the batsman hits the ball, he may run to any of the four corners of the pitch. If he chooses not to run, then he may be caught out by one of the fielders.
History of Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game that originated in England. It is played by two teams of eleven players each on a rectangular grass field. In its simplest form, cricket is a game played between two batsmen, who take turns batting and bowling. The bowler bowls the ball to the batsman, who hits it with his bat. If the batsman hits the ball out of bounds, he scores runs; if the ball hits the stumps behind him and knocks them over, he is out. The object of the game is to score more runs than your opponent.
Cricket has a long and storied history, dating back centuries. It is thought to have originated in England in the early 1300s, and was first mentioned in print in 1598. The game quickly gained popularity and spread throughout England and its colonies. The first international cricket match was played between England and Australia in 1877. Today, cricket is played all over the world by millions of people.
Rules and Regulations of the Game
Cricket is a sport that is governed by a set of rules and regulations. These rules are designed to provide a level playing field for all participants and to ensure the safety of all involved. The following is a list of the main rules and regulations of the game:
-The pitch must be a minimum of 22 yards in length and a maximum of 30 yards in length.
-The width of the pitch can vary, but must be between 10 feet and 15 feet.
-There must be two sets of stumps at each end of the pitch, with each set consisting of three stumps and two bails.
-Each team must have 11 players, which includes the captain and vice-captain.
-The game is played with a red ball, which must weigh between 5.5 ounces and 5.75 ounces.
-A batsman uses a bat that is no more than 38 inches in length and 4.25 inches in width.
-The game is divided into innings, with each team taking turns to bat and bowl. An innings ends when 10 batsmen are out or when the allotted overs have been bowled (usually 50).
-A bowler delivers the ball from one end of the pitch to the other, with the aim of hitting the wicket at the other end. A batsman tries to defend his wicket and score runs by hitting the ball away from the wicket.
Types of Cricket Matches
Test match cricket is the highest level of the sport and is played between national teams with “Test status”, as determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC). A Test match is scheduled for five consecutive days, and is played with four innings per side. The team that scores the most runs in their fourth innings wins the match. Test cricket is first-class cricket in terms of standard, and is therefore considered the most important form of the game.
One Day Internationals (ODIs) are played over 50 overs per side, and feature one inning per team. They are generally considered less important than Test matches, but are still highly competitive. The ICC World Cup is played every four years and features the best ODI teams from around the world.
Twenty20 cricket is a shorter form of the game, with each team playing 20 overs. This format has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially with younger audiences who enjoy its fast pace. Twenty20 matches are often played as spectacle events, with many featuring entertainment between innings or during breaks in play.

I have always been a die-hard fan of sports, particularly cricket, throughout my life. Ace cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, was my icon, and I still remember how much I cried the day he retired. Over the years, I have watched several matches on the ground with my family and friends. However, there was one such match that struck a chord with me.
I remember I was in the tenth standard when the final match between India and Pakistan was held in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2007. It was the first time T20 World Cup was held. I was particularly excited to see how India performed as my second favorite cricketer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was leading India.
India had chosen to bat first in the final match, which I felt was reasonable. Gautam Gambhir began the innings and gave 75 runs over 52 balls, despite India losing wickets at close intervals. Moreover, Rohit Sharma also aced India to catch up to a competitive score of 157 over 5 wickets in 20 overs.
Luckily, Pakistan also lost a lot of wickets even though Imran Nazir made some awe-inspiring shots. The final over kept us going and shocked us when India won by a meager 5 runs. What a save, I must say! All in all, I enjoyed that my country won under the leadership of a top player like MS Dhoni. The entire team played well, and it was their hard work that brought the trophy home.
To this day, this was my favorite experience of a live sports match.

I have watched many live sports matches. I loved them as I spent time with my parents or friends who usually accompanied me. Out of all such outings, my favorite is the live football matches I got to watch. Although it is not as popular in India as other games like cricket or badminton, I thoroughly enjoy football and look forward to these matches.
My elder brother and his college team played one such game against a rival college team. My brother was the captain of his college team. It was a make-or-break situation, as the team that lost the game would be disqualified from the tournament. This was the first time their college team had come this far in the game, so there was no going back.
I sat in the front row with my mother as both the teams entered the grounds. We both hooted for my brother as he looked at us and smiled.
The game had three rounds, and the team that won two or more rounds qualified further. Unfortunately, my brother’s team could not score a goal in the first round, and this was a significant setback for the team. Thus, my mother went to my brother's room and encouraged my brother. Her motivation was enough for him to sail his team to win through the second round. Although it was a challenging situation, my brother's team won with some smart decisions and solid teamwork. This was one of the happiest moments for my brother as a team captain, and I was so glad I could celebrate with him. Till date, this remains my favorite live match.

Essay on Exciting Cricket Match
Students are often asked to write an essay on Exciting Cricket Match in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.
Let’s take a look…
100 Words Essay on Exciting Cricket Match
Introduction to cricket.
Cricket is a sport that brings people together. It is played with a bat and ball and has two teams with eleven players each. The game is loved by many and can be very thrilling.
The Match Begins
One exciting match I remember started with Team A winning the toss and choosing to bat first. They scored many runs, which made the game intense.
Chasing the Score
Team B had to chase a big score. They started well, with their players hitting the ball all around the field, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.
In the last over, Team B needed few runs to win. The crowd was shouting, and the players were nervous. Finally, with one ball left, they hit a winning shot!
250 Words Essay on Exciting Cricket Match
The thrill of a cricket match.
Cricket is a game full of excitement and surprises. A match can change at any moment, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. This essay describes the excitement that unfolds during a thrilling cricket match.
Starting the Game
The match begins with the toss of a coin. The winning captain decides whether to bat or bowl first. The opening batsmen take their positions, and the bowler gets ready to deliver the first ball. The crowd watches in silence, waiting for the action to start.
Batting Excitement
When the batting team hits the ball well, the excitement builds. A well-played shot that races to the boundary for four runs, or even better, a six that flies over the boundary, can make the crowd cheer loudly. The skill of the batsmen in scoring runs quickly is thrilling to watch.
Bowling and Fielding Drama
The bowling team has its own moments of glory. A fast bowler taking a wicket with a speedy ball or a spinner tricking the batsman can change the game’s pace. Sharp fielding, with incredible catches or quick run-outs, adds to the drama.
The Final Overs
As the game nears the end, tension rises. If the scores are close, each ball becomes critical. The batting team tries to hit every ball, while the bowlers aim for accuracy to prevent runs. The excitement peaks as the match reaches its final moments, with fans cheering for their team to win.
500 Words Essay on Exciting Cricket Match
Cricket is a game full of suspense and surprises, where two teams fight with bat and ball to win the match. An exciting cricket match not only entertains the crowd but also keeps them on the edge of their seats until the last ball is bowled.
The match begins with a coin toss to decide which team will bat or field first. As the players take their positions on the field, the excitement in the air is palpable. The opening batsmen from the batting team walk onto the pitch, ready to face the bowlers from the opposing team. The crowd cheers, and the game kicks off.
The Batting Team’s Effort
The bowling team’s response.
The bowling team tries to limit the runs and take wickets. A bowler with good skills can make the ball swing in the air or spin off the ground, tricking the batsman into making a mistake. When a wicket falls, the crowd erupts, whether it’s a fast bowler knocking over the stumps or a spinner getting the batsman caught out. The fielders also play a key role, diving to stop the ball and throwing it back to the wickets to prevent runs or get a run-out.
The most thrilling part of a cricket match is often the ending. If the game is close, each ball can make a difference between winning and losing. The last few overs can be nail-biting, with the batting team trying to hit big shots to reach their target and the bowling team doing everything to stop them. The atmosphere is electric, and every run scored or wicket taken can swing the match in either team’s favor.
Victory and Celebration
An exciting cricket match is a blend of strategy, skill, and sometimes luck. It brings people together, providing a spectacle of competition and sportsmanship. Whether you are a fan of the batting or the bowling team, the thrill of the game is what keeps you watching. For a school-going student or a seasoned fan, the charm of cricket lies in these moments of excitement that make it more than just a game.
That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

A Cricket Match Essay
Cricket is a gentleman’s game. It is very popular and enjoyed all over the world. It is my favorite game. I like it very much. I play it and see it being played either on the ground or on T.V sets.
Ajay Jadeja was the captain of the Indian team. It was a one-day cricket match and played on Feroz Shah Kotla ground, New Delhi. Both teams were equally good, and the match was evenly poised.
Sourav Ganguly hit a couple of boundaries and scored 40 runs before he was caught by the bowler himself in the followthrough. The other opener Ramesh was also out when our score was 70 runs. He made just 20 runs.
He was replaced by captain Ajay Jadeja. He played delightful cricket and sent the ball flashing to all parts of the ground He scored 62 runs off 52 balls. He was caught out by the mid-wicket fielder.
Rahul Dravid played four down and played steadily but a very clever ball deceived him and he was bowled out for 30 runs. The tail-enders played well and India reached a respectable total of 250 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs.
Then there was lunch. The Pakistan team started well and played positive cricket There was an opening partnership of 80 valuable runs between Shahid Afridi and Saeed Anwar. These 80 runs were made in just 15 overs.
Anwar was out at a respectable score of 50 runs Then came Imam-ul-Haq. He was playing good strokes and hit three consecutive boundaries in an over of Sunil Joshi before he was given LBW out.
It made him disappointed. Thereafter their middle-order batsmen collapsed like ninepins at regular intervals. They were at one stage only 140 runs for 8 wickets. So tight and well balanced was our bowling Kumble took two wickets.
There was great cheer and clapping from the crowd. But the lower-order batsmen of the Pakistan team player steadily, and scored runs fast in twos and ones. The boundary was few and far between.
They took the score to 220 in 46 overs and 5 balls and had lost 7 wickets. There was a lot of excitement and fortunes fluctuated at regular intervals.
But then our medium fasters Srinath and Agarkar did exceedingly well and the rivals were all out for 240 runs in 48-2 overs Indians were overjoyed. Anil Kumble was declared “Man of the Match “for his brilliant spin bowling ard for scoring 20 valuable runs

Essay on A Cricket Match
Games are very important forces. They keep our body and mind healthy. There are different kinds of games. Cricket is one of them.
Cricket is the national game of England. Every year the Board of Control organises test matches on an international basis. These matches promote friendly relations and co-operation.
In December last a cricket match was played in Delhi between our school team and Gandhi Memorial School team. It was played at the Kotla Stadium. I too went to see it. The tickets were sold out well. There was a great rush in the stadium.
On the fixed day the match started at ten. The captain of Gandhi Memorial School won the toss and chose to bat first. The umpires took their positions. The opening batsmen of the Gandhi Memorial Team played steadily. They went on piling up the score. The spinners and fast bowlers at our school tried hard to dislodge them. They bowled many maiden overs. The batsman hit fours and continued scoring fast. In the first inning, they were all out for 365 runs.
The team of our school did not farewell. Its first innings score was only 222 for all out. The bowlers of the other team caused havoc. Our batsman could not stand their onslaught and their wickets fell fast. They were given a ‘follow-on’. But they could not make up the difference and lost the match by one innings and runs.

INTERSCHOOL CRICKET TOURNAMENT AT RADHARAMAN HIGH SCHOOL
By Braj Mohanty Sinha
Pune ; 12 October 2020: Our Radharaman High School organized an Inter-School Cricket Tournament last Saturday. There were four schools that participated in the tournament.
A large number of students cheered for their favourite teams. P.S Roy Memorial High School, Joy Tree High School and St. Thomas High School participated in the tournament along with us.
The first match was played between our school and PS Roy Memorial High School. We won the first match against them and got qualified for the finals. Joy Tree High School won the next match against St Thomas and secured a place for the final match.
The final match went quite unpredictable. We won the toss and chose to bowl. The opposition team set up a record of a meagre 130 runs for the 20 over match. The score was very less and we could easily cover the target within the first 10 overs. But, overconfidence took over our team. Our opening partnership scored 50 runs in 49 balls.
However, the match went down after their wickets were taken. By the end of the twenty overs, we had managed to score only 110 runs. We lost the tournament and sadly witnessed PS Roy High School lift the champions’ trophy for the first time.
ONE DAY CRICKET MATCH: PRAKRITI HIGH SCHOOL VS GS PAL HIGH SCHOOL
By Chinmaya Satapathy
Guwahati ; 12 October 2020: A one day match was organized between Prakriti High School and our GS Pal High School. The match was taken place at our school ground.
The day started with the players’ introduction. We won the toss and decided to let the guest team bat first. We got the wickets of the opening batsmen- Jai Pillai and Jeet Singh by the very first over. The team of Prakriti High school lost their hope for the match by losing these two crucial wickets of their best opening partnership.
Much to all their surprise, the new player on the team- Ram Peelio scored 100 runs for 90 balls next. The supporters of Prakriti School went crazy each time he swung his bat. They shouted and encouraged him to play better. However, this joy was not long-lived. Our team’s bowler Leo took Ram’s wicket at 113.
The players who followed Ram collectively managed to score around 80 runs. By the end of the match, Prakriti School had set a target of 190 runs. Our opening partnership of TS Ray and Jay Puri scored a collective 90 for 100 balls.
Next, our remaining players collectively scored 90 runs within the next 20 overs. The match got finished in 40 overs. We won a monetary prize of Rs.5000 along with the winners’ trophy. Certificates were distributed to the opposition team.
ONE DAY MATCH: LIONEL HIGH SCHOOL VS SUKHMANI SHANKAR MEMORIAL SCHOOL
By Shyam Sundar
Mumbai ; 12 October 2020: In a recent one-day match being played at Jayaram Stadium, between Lionel Tigers and our school team – Sukhmani Stars had a thrilling experience on the 10th of October 2020.
The stadium was filled with a large crowd shouting and cheering up the players. The match started with a toss won by the lionel Tigers. The Tigers captain, Jammy Joy chose to bat. The match began with Opener Ritik Jain who scored a sparkling 63 off 42 balls. The Tigers looked quite strong at the beginning.
They scored a whopping 200 runs at the end of the innings. Our team started the batting with a partnership of two junior players- Jeet Singh and Ram Navmi. Initially, it seemed a wrong decision to select inexperienced players to open for this crucial match.
The losing team would have to face taunts from the opposition for the next year as these two schools are nearby. However, much to all our surprise; the opening batsmen scored a history breaking record of 130 for 125 balls. The rest of our team collectively scored 71 runs in the next 100 balls.
The mind-boggling partnership of the two junior players from our school had helped us lift the trophy after five long years.
ONE-DAY CRICKET: ST. TERESA SCHOOL VS JAGJIT SINGH BOYS SCHOOL
By Muhammad Shafi
New Delhi ; 12 October 2020: We at St. Teresa’s High School hosted a friendly one-day cricket match against Jagjit Singh Boys School. We won by five wickets, at our school Ground on the 11th of October 2020. The match was the finals of the Championship series played between the two teams.
The match was played between 11 am to 5 pm. There were refreshments organized for the players in the middle of the two innings. It was a twenty overs’ match. The tough competition seemed evident throughout the entire match.
The district team’s coach Mr Ramesh Sahani was present as the chief guest for the match. Monty Singh and Yuv Jaydeep scored a 105-run at the fourth wicket. It helped our school team to chase down 239 to win the match against last year’s champions- Jagjit Singh Boys School.
Jeetendra Pal on the other hand top-scored in the second over with a 91-ball 99. Even Though, Jagjit Singh Boys’ School lost the match; the bowling record by Jolly Pillai was commendable. He took 6 out of 10 wickets including one hattrick.
The spectators overwhelmingly enjoyed the entire day and cheered for both teams. The day ended at 5 pm with our Champions’ Trophy upliftment for the first time in ten years.

Describe a Live Sports Match that you watched.
You should say
- When you watched it
- And explain why you liked watching it
Well, football is the only sport that I usually watch with my brother. I’m terrible at playing football but I love watching a football match . Both home and away games cause high levels of emotion in me. Today, however, I would like to talk about a match where I did not care about the score.
There was an occasion a few years ago when I went to watch a football match in a town about half an hour from where I live by bike. It was a charity match to collect funds for the local school – and it was very well attended . I think there must have been over 5,000 people there, which isn’t bad because there weren’t any star players . The atmosphere was so exciting that it encouraged the players a lot as soon as they came into the football pitch with the referee . My brother and I were 100 percent focused on the match and provoked the players in two teams for their fair play.
I am really deep into this football match for a number of reasons. Firstly, the players in two teams are not the professors, but they really ensured fair play and no red and yellow cards were released. Secondly, because of the charity aim of the match, the ticket fair then was donated for this local school and poor children, so I felt happy to contribute something to help other people.
In fact, it is the most unforgettable match that I have ever lively watched.
Being a sports fanatic, I have an uncanny knack for relishing every type of game. However, I am a bit unbiased toward cricket matches. While I prefer watching cricket matches on TV, I visit a stadium whenever I get an opportunity. So, on one such occasion, I had a chance to visit Bangalore to watch a live cricket match. It was back in 2018, and the IPL season was at its peak. The game was between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings.
When I entered the stadium, I saw that it was jampacked, and the environment was breathtaking. There were both national and international people cheering for their preferred teams. Since I was seated close to the pavilion, I somehow managed to get a selfie clicked with Virat Kohli. The crowd was going berserk whenever a player scored a six, four or got a wicket.
The experience was immensely enriching for me. I was ecstatic to see significant players giving their best shots, just at a distance. That was when I realised how difficult it is to concentrate on the game when thousands of people are present all around, chanting, encouraging and sometimes abusing.
Regardless of the match’s outcome, this delightful experience will always stay etched in my memories.
