How Do You Open The Exo Dynamics Research Aid?
I have found one of these while out exploring. I see a lightning bolt and a cable plug on the bottom of it. I tried connecting a generator to it but it didn’t do anything. How do you unlock it?

There are a few different variations of the exo dynamics research aid boxes. Some of them require you to insert resources and others require power. For the one you have found, it sounds like it needs a certain amount of power. Far more than the generator you are using will provide. Sometimes, if you are using a tractor, it can be possible to connect the trailers to the box and it will open them if you have gathered enough wind turbines and solar panels while out exploring.
When you hover the cursor over the box, it will tell you what it requires to unlock. If its a resource, you will need to look at the icon of the resource that is printed on the box itself to know what you need to put in there.

EXO Dynamics Research Aid
EXO Dynamics Research Aids are field research units, found on every planet, that open after certain criteria are met. The icon shown on the sides of the container tells the player what is needed to open it. Opening a research aid awards the achievement Thank You For Your Continued Assistance.
The criteria to open a Research Aid is shown as an icon on the sides of the container:

Trading is an important aspect in Astroneer . While you can travel to each planet and gather materials, you can also trade via the Trade Platform, allowing you to quickly obtain the materials that you need without wasting any fuel. One of the key materials needed to trade is astronium, only found at the core of planets. In this guide, you are going to learn how to efficiently gather astronium as you reach the core of the planet. First, let's take a look at the location of this rare resource.  Every planet is made up of several layers. The inner core contains the Gateway Engine, while the outer core is the area that surrounds the engine. Within the outer core, you can find astronium nodes. Astronium can be exposed, as well as buried within the cavern walls. When harvesting, be sure to look out for any dangerous plants in the area, such as Daggeroot. This hostile plant can kill you in just two hits and can be found in the mantle and core of Sylva.  As mentioned above, astronium can be found pretty close to the Gateway Engine . This is a device that can be activated, allowing you to teleport from the engine to chambers on the surface of the planet. When gathering astronium, you can use this teleportation system, which eliminates the need to travel through tunnels down to the core. With a Gateway Engine activated and connected to a Gateway Chamber, you can quickly teleport to the core, gather astronium, and then teleport back to the surface. From the chamber, you can load astronium on a rover and quickly return to your base. Keep in mind, you will need to travel from the surface down to the core the first time you are trying to access the Gateway Engine. For more information, be sure to check out our guide on what you should bring as you travel to the core .  From the Trade Platform, you can trade astronium for a variety of rare items. Below, you can check out all the astronium trades.
These resources are difficult to obtain, which makes astronium valuable.  In addition to trading , astronium can also be researched. When placed in a Research Chamber, astronium will produce 1,000 bytes over 25 minutes. This isn't the best research rate, considering common research minerals found on Sylva produce 450 bytes in about five minutes. This is around the same amount of bytes as one piece of astronium, but astronium is more efficiently used for trading. We recommend only researching astronium if you are low on bytes and don't need any of the traded resources.  On every planet, you can find EXO Dynamics Research Aids. These are triangular-shaped storage containers that need to be opened with either power or a specific resource. If the container has a power symbol on the side, you will need to provide a source of power. If the container has any other shape, you will need to find the corresponding resource. Most of the time, these containers will hold a research sample that you can immediately research to gain a large amount of bytes. Although this is rare, you may find a Research Aid that requires astronium to open. If you have astronium on hand, you can open the container and be rewarded with a QT-RTG. This is a constant source of power that does not require any fuel. Overall, astronium is the best way to get your hands on EXO chips ; this is an important item used in several late-game blueprints.
