If you’re experiencing problems with your Beko dishwasher you can run a test cycle, which can help you diagnose and troubleshoot the fault. Beko Dishwasher Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It

Although Beko makes reliable dishwashers , there could come a time when it doesn’t work. You don’t have to get on the phone right away to call for a repair technician to come for service. There are some common problems with Beko dishwashers that you can troubleshoot yourself and save some money.

Of course, it all depends on what the problem is. Most dishwashers will only be temporarily disabled until you are able to resolve the issue. When you see a light flashing or an error code, you need to know what it means and can then come up with a plan.

In this article, I will go over what the common problems are with many dishwashers that you may be experiencing. In addition, I will give you some advice and instructions on what to do about each one.

Beko dishwasher not starting

This is likely to be the problem you will face at some time or another since there are a lot of reasons that a dishwasher may not start. Don’t panic if this happens as it is almost always something that doesn’t require a complicated or expensive repair.

Power failure

The most obvious first place to start looking for reasons why your dishwasher isn’t starting is the power source. Do you have power? Are there lights out? If you tripped a breaker or there is a blackout then this is why it isn’t starting.

There could even be that it isn’t plugged into the socket somewhat so first check there and if it is firmly in place check the power by looking through the circuit breaker box.

You may notice that there is a light on the dishwasher that should indicate that there is actually a power source active and that isn’t the reason so you can move right to the next step.

A dishwasher can’t work without water so you may need to check the water inlet valve. If you have been doing some plumbing repairs recently, you may have needed to turn off the incoming water to the house and forgot to turn it back on. Check the inlet valve to make sure it is in the on position.

If you live in a block of flats then somebody else may be doing some plumbing repairs and turning off the master valve. Go to the master valve and see if it is off. Don’t turn it back on without asking around the neighbours to see if they shut it off and still need it that way for the time being.

Child lock activated

There is a security feature that makes it so that a child cannot open the door of a dishwasher or use any of the buttons. Since kids love to press buttons they can easily start something that shouldn’t happen. This feature takes away any danger of them doing that with your Beko dishwasher.

You may not remember setting it but it can be done by pressing a button for three seconds. This can happen without you even realizing it so check to see if this has been activated. You can shut it off by pressing the button for three seconds.

The door isn’t closed

Your Beko dishwasher won’t start if the door is open at all. Sometimes the latch doesn’t connect properly and the sensor will not allow the machine to start the cycle. There are times when it seems like the door is fully closed when it actually isn’t. Try opening the door and then closing it firmly so it is securely closed. If it starts now then you know this was the issue.

However, there could also be a reason that your door isn’t closing all the way. Look for an obstruction inside the door latch assembly that might be causing the door to not close. It is not uncommon for there to be some soap that accumulates there and blocks it from closing fully. If the door doesn’t click when it closes then you could have a faulty door lock that needs to be replaced.

Beko dishwasher not draining

Another very common problem with Beko dishwashers is that they have trouble draining. It’s another case of a lot of factors that prevent proper draining that is usually something benign and just needs a little bit of troubleshooting. Don’t call for service right away until you have gone through these troubleshooting tips.

Dirty filters

The most logical place to start looking is at the filters since they can easily get clogged by grease, debris and even soap scum. Once they are full, they will block the water from passing through the drain. They should be cleaned regularly before they become clogged as part of your regular maintenance routine but it is often neglected by Beko dishwasher owners.

To clean the filter you need to uninstall it and then clean it off in a sink. You can locate it under the lower spray arm. Twist the filter to remove it and then put it in a sink filled with warm soapy water. Gently wash the sludge off, being careful to not damage the screen.

Blocked Drain Hose

If you cleaned the filter and it still isn’t draining then it could be a clogged drain hose. It is very easy for debris to accumulate there since it is a flexible hose. It could easily get bent and trap food particles and even thick grease. They are usually corrugated which means that debris can get stuck in the ridges and build up to the point that water can’t pass through.

Remove it carefully and with a towel handy to catch any water and then check it. You could take it outside for cleaning and give it a good flush with a garden hose to clear it out.

If the hose itself is clear then check the drain pipe under your sink where the hose connects. There could be something obstructing the drain in which case you will need to use a snake to draw it out or break it up so water can pass through.

Clogged or faulty drain pump

The filter can sometimes allow things to pass through and then this debris can end up in the drain pump. This can cause it to get so clogged that water can’t pass through. It can also damage the pump so that it fails to work and the dishwasher stops during its cycle.

Accessing the bottom of the dishwasher will allow you to inspect the pump. If you have a multimeter you can use it to see if the pump is working or not. If it is actually sending a signal then first check the pump impeller. This is a rotor that helps to expel the water since it increases the water pressure. When broken glass gets in there or just built up gunk then it can get stuck and interfere with the water flow.

Before the dishwasher stopped working you probably heard the pump struggling if it was getting clogged or even starting to burn out and fail. If this is the case then you should look there to find the cause. If it needs to be replaced make sure to call a qualified professional so you don’t void your warranty if you don’t install a new pump properly by doing it yourself.

Beko dishwasher leaking

When your Beko dishwasher is leaking it could be because of a damaged hose, but the more likely culprit is human error. There are a number of things that owners do that cause dishwashers to leak. It is probably because you are using the wrong kind of detergent that is creating too many suds or causing a leak in the detergent drawer. If you are sure that this is not the case then you’ll need to go through the other possibilities.

Damaged door seal

The door seal is a barrier between what happens inside the Beko dishwasher and the outside. This seal can easily dry out and get broken when it starts getting old. If you do a lot of dishwashing then this speeds up the process. When the seal fails then water will start leaking out. This is the first thing to check for.

There is a small fold that runs along the seal that can also trap food and gunk causing it to not fully seal when the appliance is running and water leaks out. To fix this problem you will need to replace the entire door seal.

Incorrectly loaded dishes

Overloading a dishwasher can affect the operation and even cause water to leak. If the arm is getting damaged from continuously hitting the dishes when rinsing then this can cause a leak especially if it is slightly dislodged.

Fix the arm if it is damaged or dislodged and then make a point to correctly load the dishwasher so the operation of the rinse cycle can be done without any obstacles.

Damaged hoses

Once you ensure that the above possible causes are not responsible for the leaks then check the hoses. The drain hoses that flush the water out of dishwashers to the sink drain can often get dry and brittle which causes them to eventually crack. Sometimes the connections between the drain filter pump and the hose can get loose. If you have things under the sink that can bang into the hose where it connects to the drain then this can dislodge it and cause a leak as well.

First, check where the water is present and then inspect the hose and connections to ensure that is where it is leaking from.

If you find the damage and then it is fixed, run a test cycle to see if it continues to leak.

Beko’s dishwasher not cleaning

Do you often take the dishes out after a wash cycle and find them still dirty? The most likely reason for this is that you are not loading the dishes properly and they can’t get clean as a result. Another common error is that you are not using the right detergent. It may even be because you are using too much detergent.

Make sure that you check your owner’s manual to understand how to load the dishwasher, what detergent you should be using, and how much to use. Run a test cycle and see if things have improved. If not then it could be a mechanical error.

Faulty dispenser

If the detergent isn’t being dispensed then this is a good reason that the cleaning cycle is not happening. You’ll know this is the case if you open the lid and see that there is still some detergent in there.

You can inspect the slot where the detergent gets sent into the dishwasher by using a pipe cleaner to remove any sludge trapped there that is blocking it. Pour some warm water in there to get things moving again.

Damaged or sprayed arm

There are times when there can be some debris or sludge inside the spray arm itself and this will cause it to not rinse the dishes properly. If you were not loading the dishwasher correctly then the arm banging into the dishes could also have damaged it and that is why it is not spraying properly any longer.

Inspect it and ensure that there is no damage and then try to see if any of the holes where the rinse water comes out are not blocked.

Dirty filter

If you aren’t regularly cleaning your dishwasher filters then this is going to interfere with the proper cleaning of your items. Eventually, it will get dirty enough that water won’t pass through and cause it to not start. Make sure to keep the filter clean once in a while and it will make a big difference in how clean the dishes get.

Inlet valve

Dishwashers need plenty of water to make sure that the rinse cycle is effective. When the inlet valve is defective or not opened all the way then this will impact how clean things get. You’ll know if the inlet valve is responsible since it will make loud noises when filling.

Beko dishwasher lights flashing

The lights on your Beko will indicate that there is a problem and it usually involves the heating element not working. The heater element is what heats the water to the right temperature to wash. If it is not working properly then it will time out the system if it doesn’t reach the optimal temperature in time.

There could be a bad connection in the control panel leading to the heating element or the element itself could be burnt out. In any case, you will need a technician to come and replace the element or the control panel.

Beko dishwasher makes a noise when off

It doesn’t sound logical that your dishwasher would be making noise when it’s not turned on, but there is a reason for it happening. Most dishwashers have an anti-flood feature that will detect water coming into the machine even if it isn’t working.

When this function is faulty, then the drain pump will continue to work to drain water that may or may not even be there. This is the noise that you would be hearing. If it is a faint noise then there may actually be water in the appliance and it is doing its job. When it sounds like a loud grinding then this is because there is no water being pumped.

If there is water getting into the machine it could be the result of a leaky inlet valve or an improperly routed drain line that allows water back into the drum.

The way to get this fixed is to call a repair technician since they may need to reset the faulty sensor or the leak if there is actually water getting inside.

Beko dishwasher not filling with water

There are a couple of reasons that a Beko is not filling up with water when it should. The most likely reason is that there is still some water in the washer that hasn’t drained. You should go through the detailed troubleshooting tips for when the Beko doesn’t drain in one of the above sections.

The second reason that this could possibly be happening is that you don’t have the right water pressure settings for your appliance. The ideal water pressure is between 0.3 and 10 bars of pressure.

A third reason is that you may not have the water tap on or that the hose that brings water into the machine is kinked or bent.

Beko dishwasher error code E01

If you notice this on your Beko display then it means that you have water left inside the machine since it stopped in the middle of a cycle. This could be because of a leak, not enough water pressure, or that there are problems with the drain pump. You’ll have to check if there is water in the machine.

Make sure that your machine is unplugged and then tilt the Beko dishwasher forward to a 90° angle and see if any water comes out. If water leaks out then you have to try to notice where the leak is coming from.

Try to do a manual removal of the water in the machine with a large sponge and bucket. Then go through some of the troubleshooting tips listed above such as checking the drain pump for debris and the filters to ensure that they are not full.

Use your owner’s manual to find the solenoid valve since that could be the reason for the leak. If you have hard water then you will see scale on this and that could be the source. You should be able to replace this yourself if you feel this is the cause.

Low-flow fixtures can also be responsible for the error code on the display. Check to make sure that you are getting enough water from the tap. If you know that there is plenty of water pressure then the issue could be coming from a defective flow meter.

Lastly, damaged spray arms can trigger the error code so inspect them to see if they are loose or if there are any holes that are blocked.

You shouldn’t be forced to start washing up by hand if you are able to follow these simple instructions to get your Beko back up and running the way it should. Like any appliance a Beko needs routine maintenance to keep running effectively so make sure that after you troubleshoot and resolve the problem you keep tabs on what needs to be done regularly. This will prevent any new problems from arising later on and you’ll get many years out of your Beko as a result.

Beko Dishwasher Problems And Troubleshooting

When your Beko dishwasher is experiencing problems there’s a test cycle you can run which may help you troubleshoot the fault. As it runs through the cycle the appliance will follow a sequence and stop at any point that it detects a problem and display a relevant code. These codes are explained later on.

To start the test cycle you simply:

• Switch off the dishwasher
• Press and hold down the start button for three seconds – all the control panel lights should flash
• If the fault has been detected the error code will be displayed, if not you’ll need to press the start button to run the test cycle

Beko dishwasher error codes

Fault or error codes are indicated on a digital display on the LED or LCD panel on the dishwasher door. These are simply diagnostic aids to identifying the nature of the fault, even if you can’t fix it yourself. Beko dishwasher fault codes are listed below:

H2  – turbidity sensor error – this is the sump that detects detergent presence.

H3  – diverter valve position error – this is the valve that controls water flow to the top and bottom spray arms individually or at the same time.

H4  – NTC error – meaning the temperature sensor can’t be read by the dishwasher.

H5  – water inlet error – indicating a malfunction of the water inlet valve or of the triac on the electronic board.

H6  – water inlet fault – the dishwasher can’t detect water and fails to fill.

H7  – heating fault – heat can’t be detected by the dishwasher so the correct temperature isn’t reached.

Beko dishwasher error lights

Depending on your model your Beko dishwasher may display error lights rather than numbers. These are shown here:

• No lights lit  – no power or no faults detected
• First light lit  – dishwasher not filling sufficiently before the timeout
• Second light lit – inlet valve or water sensor error
• Third light lit  – water temperature sensor error
• First and second lights lit  – heating element fault

Beko dishwasher not filling with water

When this happens, it could be related to water pressure that’s too low – it ideally should be between 0.3 and 10 bar. Alternatively, it may be that the inlet hose is kinked or damaged in some way. It can also indicate a problem with the float switch which monitors water levels.

If there’s no water at all this could be related to the water supply or the water inlet valve. Leaks and door closing issues will also affect the ability of the dishwasher to fill.

Beko dishwasher problems can include the dishwasher not starting. This may be that the appliance has detected that the door isn’t closed securely – the latch or switch could be broken.

If the first and second additional function buttons blink three times when you rotate the program selection knob, then the child lock is activated. You can’t make any changes to programs, temperature, speed or additional functions while the lock is active.

You can also switch the program selection knob to the On/Off position when no program is running to deactivate the lock.
