Do you report my results to my state Professional Engineer Licensing Board? We do not report your results to your state licensing board. You will need to provide them with a copy of your Professional Engineer CE certificates of completion with your license and check the box letting them know you completed your mandatory Professional Engineer continuing education. If the board audits you, they will ask you to provide your certificates of completion for your Professional Engineer continuing education courses.

Do you offer the Florida Advanced Building Code Course for Professional Engineers? Yes. We offer continuing education for Florida Professional Engineers and we are an approved provider for the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.

Which Professional Engineers need to take the Florida Advanced Building Code Course? Florida Professional Engineers whose practice includes the design of engineering works or systems in connection with buildings, structures, or facilities and systems covered by the Florida Building Code, you will need to complete the advanced course on the 7th edition of the code by December 31, 2021, or prior to designing engineering projects covered by the code, in order to retain the “Special Qualifications” designation on your licensure record, pursuant to Florida Statute 471.0195.

We do not currently offer any classroom continuing education courses. Read the course materials. 3) Take Quiz: Log into your account. Then click on the quiz button on the right hand side of the course description page to take the quiz. Take the quiz as many times as necessary in order to pass with a 70% or better. You may start the quiz, stop, and then return to the quiz at a later time to finish. 4) Pay for Course: Add the course(s) to you shopping cart by clicking on "Add to Cart" and then complete payment via credit card processing thru PayPal's secure servers. ALTERNATIVELY you can also pay for the course at any time by adding the course to your checkout cart. You can purchase the course either before or after the quiz. The subject of representing ALL voices and life experiences in the world of engineering is often times contentious.  This presentation looks at the subject of DEI from the perspective of engineers with  differing life experiences.  Quite often, the input of those engineers with different life experiences that diverge from the perspectives of what are considered to be the 'best and brightest' practices are relegated as an after-thought or outright ignored.  There are those that feel strongly that DEI does not belong in the engineering profession.  After all, physics is physics regardless of sex, race, sexual orientation, religion, etc.  Not only will this webinar examine that premise, it will also bring to light many of the experiences and needs of the various members of the public that have long gone unheard - and in too many cases have resulted in needless deaths as a result of clinging to the 'best and brightest' engineering approaches.  This webinar will highlight that the terms ‘best and brightest’ are often based on a purely self-centric premise.  We’ll discuss and point to clear examples of why the definition of ‘best and brightest’ is quite different depending upon the definer.  

1. Attendees will recognize that important aspects of successful engineering projects will require a diverse set of life experiences/perspectives.

2. Attendees will learn that a homogeneous perspective is not capable of seeing nor understanding the needs of a heterogeneous society.

This refers to professional development hours or PDH in engineering discipline for continued education practices. Typically, achieved with completing online courses in engineering, college level courses, activities in a professional organization, or other varied learning activities which enhance the knowledge of a State licensed professional engineer.

Do PE licenses expire?

Yes, PE professional engineer licenses expire either on a annual, biennial, or triennial basis. The licenses can be renewed prior to expiration once the license holder satifies all license renewal requirements, these typically are complete professional development hours as well as the required renewal fees.

How many PDH credits do you need for your PE license?

It depends on the state or states a Professional Engineer (PE) is licensed in. Its can be as little as 15 hours of PDH credits or up to 36 hours of PDH credits. Please reference our state requirements section for specific state details.

What is a PDH certificate?

A PDH or professional development hour certificate is the document awarded after a licensed professional engineer successfully completes a professional development activity. This certificate is used as a permanent record for verification the license successfully completed the activity and activity hours on a specific date.

What is the difference between PDH and CEU?

A PDH is a professional development hour and represents 1 hour of a learning activity. A CEU is a continuing education unit and represent 10 hours of a learning activity.

What can I do with continuing education credits?

The continuing education credits earned by a professional engineer (PE) are required in order to renew the license with the state the PE is licensed in.

What is PDH?

PDH refers to Professional Development Hours, educational units used to fulfill continuing education requirements for licensure. 1 PDH hour means that an activity that the trainee is undertaking lasts for one hour. Most of state engineering boards define 1 PDH hour as a 50 minute minimum learning activity

What is Continuing Education?

Continuing Education typically refers to additional learning activities as means to stay on top of latest developments and trends in an industry. For Professional Engineers, Continuing Education is required by most state Engineering Boards with varying minimum annual requirements. You can see the state by state requirements on our  State Requirements  page.

What are CEU's?

CEUs are Continuing Education Units created in the 1970 after  IACET (International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training)  and the U.S. Department of Education task force studied the measurement of non-credit continuing education activities. The continuing education unit (CEU) was designed to:

  • Provide a standard unit of measurement for continuing education and training,
  • Quantify continuing education and training (CE/T) activities, and
  • Accommodate for the diversity of providers, activities, and purposes in adult education.

1 CEU is equivalent to 10 PDH hours, so a 2 PDH course would equal 0.2 CEUs.

Is CPD the same as PDH?

Yes and no. CPD, or Continuous Professional Development is a term some engineering Boards used interchangeably with PDH. However, CPD refers to a professional’s development while PDH is the duration of that Continuous Professional Development, or CPD. CPD Hours or CPD Credits are generally the same as PDHs, and are terms used by some engineering licensing Boards.

And what about CPC? Is it the same as PDH?

According to NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering) , CPC or Continuing Professional Competency is any qualifying course or activity with a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee’s field of practice. So, while PDH refers to Professional Development Hours, CPC refers to a competency, or an activity that will help develop a competency.

I am a Professional Engineer. Can I take PDH courses online to fulfill my states' Continuing Education requirements?

Yes. All states allow online courses, although to a varying degree. Most states allow on-demand online courses and educational activities, as long as they contribute to the professional practice of professional engineering or land surveying. The course topic must be related to professional practice and contribute to the development or maintenance of professional knowledge. PDH STAR on-demand online PDH courses satisfy this requirement. Some state, like New York, require that part of the required PDHs be obtained through live or interactive learning activities, with access to the instructor. PDH STAR live and interactive webinars satisfy this requirement.

State of Ohio requires part of the PDHs to be obtained through “timed and monitored” activities, where ongoing trainee participation is required. PDH STAR Timed and Monitored courses and On-Demand Webinars meet these requirements.

Anaerobic treatment of high-strength industrial wastes 2024 , september 10th and 11th, 2024 , sept 10th, 8:45 am - 5:30 pm central time sept 11th, 8:45 am - 4:00 pm central time, register here, about the course.

The course will be offered both in-person and online via Microsoft Teams.

If you deal with high-strength industrial wastes or are involved in operation and design of anaerobic treatment processes, this course is intended for you.

This short course has been designed to walk you through the processes of anaerobic treatment, from fundamental principles to case histories. The case history presentations will demonstrate anaerobic technologies in industrial settings and allow for questions regarding specific problems encountered and solutions developed.

Course size is limited to 250 attendees.
