Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are a crucial part of the educational process. These activities provide scope for the development of creative faculties and skills. At Mayoor School, Ajmer CCAs are conducted throughout the year in the form of CCA club activities, Inter-house events and Inter-school competitions. CCAs are in line with the CBSE’s Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system and help in keeping track of the holistic profile of learners through regular assessments of co-scholastic areas of development, making evaluation an integral part of the teaching-learning process and not in isolation from it.
The Inter-House competitions in the Primary School are held only for grades III-V. The Inter-House CCA competitions cover a plethora of activities for the intellectual and creative engagement of the students. The unique aspect of these competitions at the Primary School is 100 percent participation of the students.
The 100 percent participation is a multi-pronged strategy for the development of intellectual, cognitive and creative skills in each child. It unearths the co-scholastic talent of the child, inculcates confidence in the young children to perform on stage and infuses competitive spirit in each and every child.
Another unique feature of Inter-House CCA Competitions at the Primary School is that no individual positions are given, only the house-wise positions are announced at the end of the competition.
The various Inter-House Competitions held at the Primary School include:

Cultural Weeks are designated weeks in the annual calendar of the middle and senior school for conducting the various literary and cultural events. The months of April and July (for classes VI –VIII) and August (for classes IX-XII) find the campus buzzing with excited and motivated students eager to showcase their talents.
The involvement of students is not only limited to participation in the competitions, but also extends to planning and execution of the events. The students in-charge of the events work under guidance of the teacher in-charge to formulate the rules, audition the candidates, conduct their practices and prepare them for the competition. The student event manager makes arrangements at the venue, prepares the result sheets and compiles the final results.
With varied activities such as elocutions, debates, extempore-speeches, quizzing, creative-writing and performing arts such as Indian and Western music, dance, theatre and drama, the cultural weeks provide a platform for students with different propensities to showcase their talent. Every year there are new or modified set of events and competitions that further challenge and hone the skills of the Mayoorites. At the end of the event, the individual as well as the house-wise positions are announced.
The inter-house competitions that are usually held during the cultural weeks include:
Literary Events

The events are held for English and Hindi languages and include elocutions, debates, extempore-speeches, poetry competition, character enactment and creative writing competitions. The scope of literary events stretches far beyond the aforementioned competitions and every year innovative events are added to the list to make competitions challenging and fun at the same time.

Every year, new events are planned for Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Maths to present the students with new challenges for putting their respective houses in the leading positions.
Inter-House Model United Nations (MUN)

This week it was announced that TISB is putting together an Inter-House Music competition. In the competition middle school and senior school students from Discoverers, Explorers, Pioneers and Voyagers will battle it out in performance and composition categories. Other than House Points being earned through judging criteria, points will be given to all participants and their Houses. The deadline for submissions is on October 18. We reached out to Music Prefect, Krishna from Grade 12, to find out more about the upcoming competition.
We’re organising this competition with the hope that more student musicians can take part in competitive music-making – Krishna, Grade 12, Music Prefect
Krishna, who is a guitarist with an interest in different genres, has great hope for the effects of the competition on students. "As an amateur musician I’ve often found music competitions intimidating, and I’ve found this to be true for many of my fellow musicians at TISB", says Krishna, who planned and initiated the Inter-House Music Competition to encourage more students to make music and take part in competitions.
Therefore, important to this competition is that, although being focused on music, it invites everyone to take part. “There are participation House Points involved! It’s also a great opportunity for you to showcase your skills to the school and perform on a public platform”, says Krishna, who thinks that everyone should take part – regardless of level of musical ability. “Even if you don’t think you can win, taking part and competing is the most important thing."
This year’s Inter-House Music competition has something special in store. “It’s not often that budding composers in India can compete against each other”, says Krishna, who is looking forward to hearing the up to 15 minutes long compositions that the students will produce and submit before October 18.
See the whole school email with details of how to participate, how the performances and compositions will be judged and how many points you will be able to award your House.

My last inter-house sports competition
Every year many sports competitions take place in our school but this year it was very special because it was my last inter-house football competition at school as I was in class 12 th this year.
Every house is excepted to choose those students who are fit and healthy to take part in running, football, cricket match, javelin throw.
The sports coach discusses and trains the selected students very well for the event and the day of the inter-house sports competition. The practice was just the beginning of the inter-house sport.
There were four different houses sanskar, guru Dakshina, Prarthana and vaani houses. I belonged to Gurudakshina's house.
On the day of the event, we all were ready, we gathered on the ground. As the sports coach whistled it was announced that we can start to play on the ground when all houses were to train together. It all started with a football match.
Everything was going fine but suddenly it started to rain.
We all were surprised because of the safety of the students the football match was withdrawn.
We all were so sad but we decided to enjoy the rain and have samosas at the school canteen.
The moral of the story is that we need to move as per mother nature.
Life is always unpredictable.
Hence, the essay is written
My School interhouse sport is always interesting because their is always a competition or the different houses are always eager to make their houses win but it was left for the officials to decide on who the winning team is.
My school has four houses namely: yellow house, green house, red house, and blue house.
During practise, each houses are excepted to find students who are capable of doing the following:run, match, throw javelin and discuss and train them very well for the heat and the day of the inter house sport competition. The practise and heat was just the beginning of the interhouse sport.
After all houses where ready,we started the heat, when all houses where to train together. It all started from the throwing of javelin and discuss. Yellow house took last follow by other houses.I was terrified when i had my house took last,it was a shocking thing to me. It was followed with the running competition which green house took first followed by yellow house, red house and blue house. I was surprised that green house that took last in the last inter house sport took first in heat, then i said to myself that lets wait to the real interhouse sport.
The real day came (the inter house sport).I was so happy, saying to myself we shall know who will win today (on friday :27 of feb.2015), but on that day rain fell so we could not start at the exact time,we had to wait till 2:30 pm and started at 3:00pm. It was an interesting day.
