24 Best Book Blogs (To Read Voraciously)

If you’re like me, you’re constantly on the lookout for new titles to devour. And where else to turn for inspiration, than to some of the best book blogs  out there? Book reviews and literary blogs will gift your eyeballs with extensive lists of amazing works in many genres. Heck, at some point, even I produced a couple of  book lists to read and posed some reading challenges. But let’s taste the crème de la crème of the bookish blogosphere with the following list of twenty-five websites. There’s no particular order here. Just check them out and enjoy!

The Best Book Blogs You Should Check Out:

1. a life in books.

A  Life in Books  is a small, yet robust blog where aesthetics give way to the power of the written word. The website is maintained by Susan, who worked both as a bookseller and a  freelance writer for many years. She’s also a professional reviews editor in two literary magazines and on her blog, she shares some of her favorite titles and hidden literary gems Susan is mostly writing about literary fiction and interesting literary debuts. What I like about her blog is that it’s filled with a passion for literature without being commercial at all. It’s quite a rare sight on the internet these days.

2. Book Riot

The second blog on this list is a much bigger entity with multiple authors, which publishes large volumes of articles on all things bookworms. On the website, you will find reviews of the newest audiobooks , the best romantic books to read  in your book club, and the top Instagram accounts to follow for poetic inspiration. It’s quite an eclectic collection saturated with tech and pop culture. You won’t find much highbrow content on Book Riot, but it’s a perfect outlet if you want to find out what’s going on in the book industry and spend a few minutes on an entertaining read.

3. NYC Book Girl

As the name suggests this blog is written by an uncompromising 20-something bookish artist living in New York City. Morgan Hoit has good taste not only in literature but also in graphic and web design. Her corner of the internet is pleasing to the eye. The blog is still young as it was started in June 2017. But now, it attracts a regular bunch of readers thirsty for book lists, book reviews, and music playlists. What I like about Morgan is that she’s very active on social media and likes to interact with her readers. Her blog also reminds me of my good times spent in NYC browsing the books  in Strand for hours on end.

4. John Pistelli

John is a writer who doesn’t care about imagery or marketing gimmicks, and you sign up for his email list. He’s a determined minimalist who values good prose above all else. On his blog, you can find long-form book reviews, each of which receives a rating between 1 and 5. He’s also contributing his reviews to the Goodreads website (at this point he wrote over 400 of them). And believe me when I tell you that he knows his words. He’s a literature teacher holding a Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota. His literary reviews appear not only on his blog and Goodreads but also in prestigious literary magazines.

5. Confessions of a Literary Addict

Here’s another quirky  book blog for you . It offers tons of great book reviews written in a personal, humorous way. It’s also full of anecdotes and some  personal blog posts about goal setting  and the life of a bookworm. What I like about this one is that it contains a healthy dose of self-deprecation which is somewhat fitting for a hedonistic female bibliophile and cat lover. Even though the blog has a girly feel to it, I can imagine myself conversing with its author about new graphic novels, the Steampunk anime series, and the unsolved secrets of the Game of Thrones.

6. Reads All The Books

7. the writes of woman.

The Writes of Woman is a huge database of literary knowledge updated regularly. It looks like there are hundreds of articles in here and they’re all about the best books of the month, the best books of the year, what happened in the media, and what are the newest digital trends in the publishing industry. What’s interesting about this blog is that it only contains books written by female authors. It deals both with fiction and non-fiction and offers some cool interviews with women writers.

8. The Marginalia

9. the indieview.

The IndieView is a wonderful little blog that spreads the news about self-published books, as well as works coming from independent and boutique publishers. It’s a great place to visit if you want to find hidden literary gems overlooked by most of the mainstream book reviewers. There’s also a big database of indie writers and reviewers, which is great if you want to connect with other bookish souls. The blog was established in 2010 and it publishes at least one new review every week.

10. Kath Reads

11. the book satchel.

This is one of the best places for a bookfiend to roam freely to pick up bits and pieces of the literary world and put them together. It’s written by Resh Susan, a book lover since her childhood years . Her blog has been online since November 2015 and each month you can find around 5 new articles on it. These are mostly book reviews and lists adorned with mesmerizing bookish photography. What I like about this one is that it has a loyal following of readers. Many authors reach out to Resh so she can devour and review their debut novels (which she always does honestly). Overall, it’s a great ecosystem where many elements of the publishing industry come together.

12. Patience Randle

13. the new yorker – page-turner.

If you haven’t been living under a rock for most of your life you must have heard about the New Yorker magazine. It covers everything from politics to art, cinema, and culture and it’s an absolute delight for anyone with an artistic or literary sensibility. What you may not have known is that the New Yorker also has a huge section devoted to book reviews, literary criticism, fiction, and the writing life. It’s called “page-turner” and it offers high-quality musings that will change the way you think and challenge your dearly espoused beliefs about life and history.

14. The Paris Review

15. the amazon book review.

The Amazon Book Review, formerly known as Omnivoracious is a  large book  blog managed by four different editors. It’s updated practically every day with at least two new articles. There’s a broad range of topics broached on this website. These include interviews with famous authors, articles about books that created a big splash, and extensive book lists from all sorts of genres – from epic fantasy to self-help books, to children’s literature. What I like most about this one is that its reviews are short and to the point, perfect for digitally overwhelmed readers of today.

16. The Literary Edit

The Literary Edit is a brainchild of Lucy, a native Australian book blogger whose passion lies in devouring monstrous amounts of books, perusing shelves of beautiful bookstores, and gracing literary festivals with her presence. Lucy is a woman who puts emphasis on aesthetics and building her social media following. She loves to travel, and while on the way she’s frequently picking up on the  literary traditions  of the countries she’s visiting. If you’re into travel, books, and Instagram bookish delights, this is going to be your favorite blog on this list.

17. Vilma Iris

This is another blog that combines beautiful graphics with a love for literature. It’s written by Vilma Iris, who’s a marketing professional by day, and a book unicorn by night. What I like about this blog is that it’s an eclectic collection of different things that all coalesce around the same theme. The categories say it all. On the blog, you can find reviews, upcoming releases, favorite book lists, and best titles to devour in the form of audiobooks, author interviews as well and excerpts . Vilma is always open to collaborations, and active on social media, and I’m sure she would be happy to give your new book a review.

18. The Millions

This book blog has been in existence since 2003, And since its inception, it attracted hordes of readers thirsty for information about books, arts, and culture. It has been featured in the New York Times. The Los Angeles Times, and the Village Voice an indispensable literary sites. It offers some of the most original essays touching on all things related to the bookish life, including a list of 100 must-read novels and musings on the nature of the quotation marks. There are over a dozen writers who regularly contribute content  to the site. They are also  accepting guest contributions from aspiring authors  and book lovers.

19. Reedsy Discovery

20. shelly’s book corner.

This blog has been around since 2014 and today it’s still active with new book reviews appearing almost every day. It’s written by Shelly, a lifelong reader inspired to read by her mum who would read her bedtime stories. She loves attending literary festivals and meeting new  people who love to read . The reviews she writes are succinct and to the point which is perfect for busy readers who want to assess if the book is right for them or not. The reviews you’ll find there are mostly commercial and literary fiction. Keep following Shelly to find out about new releases and honest reviews.

21. Nerdy Book Club

If you’re into  children’s literature or books for young adults, this blog is going to be perfect for you. It’s all about recommending works of literary veterans as well as little-known writers who inspire, teach, and stir up the imagination of young readers. To make things more interesting, they even have a Nerdy Book Award, given to the top authors  every single year. The site is run by four different book nerds, who all share the same passion for education and literature.

22. A Bookish Baker

This blog’s author is Helen Redfern (the best surname of all time if you ask me). She’s an avid bookstagrammer and writer who loves to share her literary insights. She’s persistently proud of her small chicken farm and she features chickens in many of her posts. Why not? If that’s not enough, she’s also into baking and producing videos for her very own YouTube channel featuring videos about creativity, writing struggles , and productivity tips. It’s a well-rounded online platform where you can find lots of inspiration for your creative endeavors.

23. Bag Full of Books

Bag Full of Books is an amazing work of passion coming from an Indian girl named Arpita. The theme of this blog is traveling from the comfort of your armchair, and living inside of a literary world. The author of the blog is a big fan of Rabindranath Tagore, one of the best Indian writers.  This makes me like her even more. If you’re looking for an escape into the world of travel and imagination, you’ll find comfort here.

The 21 Best Book Blogs of 2021

#scribendiinc

Written by  Dana L. Church

Start reading the best books of the year

Want to embrace your inner book nerd but don't know where to begin? Look no further. These book blogs cover a range of genres and topics that will appeal to every kind of book enthusiast. So go ahead and check out the 21 best book blogs of 2021. There's sure to be something that catches your eye.

The 21 best book blogs of 2021

1.  amazon book review.

This book blog topped Scribendi's 2020 list , and it's easy to see why. It's probably the most comprehensive book blog out there for contemporary works, and it covers all kinds of genres. The Editors' Picks seem to have something for everyone.

All of this booky goodness is presented on a bright, easy-to-navigate website. There are even celebrity picks, where "celebrity" encompasses not only film and TV stars but also athletes, musicians, and authors. I must say that this book blog also tops my list when it comes to what's hot off the press and for its sheer variety.

2.  John Pistelli

If you're not concerned about hot topics and current events and are just looking for a good read, then this is the site for you.

John Pistelli is a professor at the University of Minnesota and holds a Ph.D. in English literature. He has also published several works of fiction and poetry. His website provides a new book review every week or so, and his choices are anchored in his personal interests, which center on classic and contemporary fiction. Take a look at his review index for a ton of books to choose from, each with his thoughtful and artful opinions and musings. He covers novels, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and comics, and he even throws in some commercial fiction for good measure.

What also caught my eye is his "lifetime reading list," which includes titles you'd expect to be recommended by an English professor—but also some surprises.

3.  Literary Hub

This book blog has everything you need to keep up to date with the literary world, plus some news and culture on the side. In addition to its numerous resources for both reading and writing, what caught my attention is its "Book Marks" section.

Similar to what "Rotten Tomatoes" does for movies, "Book Marks" compiles book reviews from magazines, newspapers, and websites and averages them into a score of "Rave," "Positive," "Mixed," or "Pan." You can also leave your own comments and reviews. Literary Hub is also a great site for finding your next favorite book-related podcast.

4.  49th Shelf

This site calls itself "the largest collection of Canadian books on the Internet." No kidding! The site is extremely comprehensive but also very easy to navigate. There's something for everyone, and you can sign up for free to contribute your own reviews, comments, and book ratings.

5.  The Broadcast (by Reedsy)

If you like reading lists, you'll love this book blog. From "10 Exciting New Books From Up-and-Coming Authors" to the "40 Best Spy Novels of All Time," you're sure to find a list that interests you.

Moreover, it's easy to get lost in their articles on a wide variety of book-related topics.

6.  A Life in Books

Blogger Susan Osborne has worked in book sales and as a writer and magazine editor. Her book blog is simple and crisp.

Susan provides thoughtful reviews and arranges books into unique categories, such as "Five Books I've Read," where she groups books in fives according to different themes, and "Six Degrees of Separation," where she links seemingly disparate books in clever ways.

7.  The Orangutan Librarian

This blog stands out not only for its unique name and concept but also for its color and charming sketches here and there.

Books are rated using a five-banana rating system and are accompanied by thoughtful—and, at times, philosophical—reviews. The Orangutan also invites comments. There are intriguing lists like "Books that Gave Me a Hangover" and "Forgettable Books—Books I Can't Remember…Though I Definitely Read Them (I Think)."

8.  Vilma Iris

Vilma Iris Gonzalez is an "internationally renowned book blogger and USA Today blog columnist" whose focus is on commercial fiction for a female audience.

She markets lifestyle, home, and beauty, but it's clear her heart is in books. Her site is smart and modern.

9.  From First Page to Last

What caught my eye about this blog, besides its stylish simplicity and plethora of reviews, were its unique categories like "Under the Reader's Radar – Celebrating the Quiet Novel" and "Spotlight on Publishers."

You're likely to spot a gem.

10.  Readability

Reading Fleur Morrison's blog feels like chatting about books with a best friend. She's honest, thoughtful, funny, and engaging.

I was pulled in by her accounts of her struggles with Dostoyevsky and stayed to read about her post-Harry Potter blues.

11.  Jane Friedman

Jane's book blog stands somewhat apart from the others on this list because it targets writers, the writing life, and the ins and outs of the publishing world.

This site is a treasure trove for anyone looking to perfect their craft and learn more about the publishing industry. In addition to articles and book recommendations, Jane offers online classes and interviews with industry professionals.

12.  Electric Lit

Electric Lit's mission is "to make literature more exciting, relevant, and inclusive." This pleasantly quirky site is filled with unique essays, interviews, and reading lists provided by diverse contributors.

Of particular note are the lists "8 Books About Reckless Decisions" and "Offbeat European Children's Books for Adults."

13.  IndieReader

If you're interested in self-publishing and/or self-published books, this is the site for you.

IndieReader is "run by authors and writers for authors and writers." In addition to an enormous number of book reviews, you can find lots of helpful advice from indie authors as well as resources for how to distribute and market your own book.

In addition, if you do happen to be an indie author, you can sign up to have your book reviewed.

14.  School Library Journal

Confession time: I'm a children's author, and I love to read middle grade and picture books.

I couldn't resist including this blog. The School Library Journal is where it's at for comprehensive lists, reviews, and recommendations for all things kid lit.

15.  The Bibliofile

If you want totally honest and critical book reviews, you must check out Jenn's blog.

She's not afraid to explain why she didn't fall in love with books most people rave about, and she still gives thoughtful and thorough critiques of books she does love. Gotta respect that.

Jenn is a great source for thoughtful, interesting perspectives and viewpoints that make you think more deeply about books.

16.  Quillblog

Quillblog is the book blog of Canadian literary magazine Quill & Quire . It spotlights literary news articles, prize winners, and, of course, book reviews.

This blog is a great complement to 49th Shelf to help keep you on top of what's happening in the Canadian literary world.

The Millions is a fresh online magazine packed with reviews, lists, and author interviews. There are lots of recommendations categorized to suit a host of tastes. It's always exciting to check out their "Tuesday New Release Day" feature.

19.  Book Riot

This website is teeming with book-lover culture. It's splashy, colorful, and full of energy.

You can find articles on various literary topics, assorted interest pieces, book collections, interviews, and examinations of book-to-movie adaptations. There are daily deals, giveaways, podcasts, and even a selection of book-related swag and “bookish things” to satisfy your inner book nerd.

20.  The Book Smugglers

Ana Grilo and Thea James are The Book Smugglers, "specializing in speculative fiction, YA and popgeekery for all ages since 2008." They also run Book Smugglers Publishing, which publishes speculative short fiction and nonfiction. Their blog was born after they started "smuggling" books home to avoid being threatened daily by loved ones for buying too many. Gee, I can't relate at all…

21.  Utopia State of Mind

Lili describes herself as "a scholar at heart, obsessed with SFF" (science fiction and fantasy).

She also focuses on diversity, smaller presses, and indie authors. Now and then, she includes some contemporary reads, too. She has a handy-dandy sortable table in her reviews archives, which makes browsing her site all the more addictive.

Hey there, bookworms! Ever wondered where authors, bloggers, and readers hang out in the vast world of literature? Well, look no further than book review blogs! These digital hideouts are like cozy book clubs where everyone’s invited to chat, share thoughts, and discover awesome reads. Today, we’re diving deep into why these blogs are so darn important for authors, bloggers, and readers. Plus, we’ll hook you up with some lists of top book review blogs to explore.

Table of Contents

Benefits of Book Review Blog Lists

For authors.

Picture this: You poured your heart and soul into writing a book, but now you’re wondering, “How do I get people to notice it?” That’s where book review blog lists come in clutch! They’re like the VIP pass to getting your book noticed, boosting your street cred, and getting readers hyped up about your work. It’s like hitting the literary jackpot!

For Bloggers

If you’re a blogger, these lists are your golden ticket to blogosphere fame! Getting listed means more eyeballs on your blog, which means more love for your writing. Plus, you’ll rub elbows with fellow bloggers, find inspiration for your next riveting post, and maybe even make some new friends along the way. It’s like joining an exclusive club where everyone’s cheering you on!

For Readers

Hey, book dragons! We know you’re always on the prowl for your next epic adventure, and book review blog lists are your treasure map! They’ll lead you to a treasure trove of book recommendations, juicy discussions, and fellow book lovers to geek out with. Get ready to dive into a world of endless possibilities and discover your new favorite reads!

Important Notes for Authors About Book Reviewer Blog Outreach

But, attention, authors! It’s time for a friendly reminder on the dos and don’ts of reaching out to book review bloggers. First things first: always read the review policy of the blogger you’re eyeing. It’s like checking the dress code before crashing a party – you don’t want to show up in a tuxedo to a Hawaiian luau, trust me. Next up, use that contact email or special sign-up form provided. It’s there for a reason, folks! Don’t go sliding into their DMs like a desperate ex – keep it classy, people. Oh, and here’s a pro tip: unless a reviewer’s policy says otherwise, provide a free copy of your book in the format the reviewer prefers. It’s like bringing a bottle of wine or something to a dinner party – it shows you’re thoughtful and considerate. And last but certainly not least, remember to be kind and considerate of the reviewer’s time. They’re doing you a solid by even considering your book, so don’t be a diva about it. Treat them like the literary rockstars they are, and who knows? You might just end up with a glowing review to plaster all over your book’s promo materials, if it really deserves so. Cheers to that!

Top Book Bloggers to Follow in 2024

Top Book Bloggers and Influencers to follow in 2024

Blogging is still a hugely popular medium in 2023, with 77% of internet users reading blog posts on a regular basis. And book blogging is no exception.

Social media communities such as BookTok, Bookstagram, and BookTube have given the publishing industry a much-needed shot in the arm.

And whilst some see this success as a threat to conventional book blogging, I’d argue that it’s actually revitalised the bookish content creation landscape – including blogging.

So, to celebrate all aspects of bookish culture, I’d featured some of the best bookish content creators you should be following in 2023.

Book Bloggers

Pages unbound.

Pages Unbound Book Blogger

Briana & Krysta are amazing at creating (and promoting) their bookish content – if I’m ever half as successful as them, I’d be thrilled.

Rebbie Reviews

Rebbie Reviews Book Blogger

Rebbie Reviews is an absolute star. Again, a really fine book blogger. She takes part in The Write Reads book tour circuit fairly frequently, so you can guarantee you’ll find some interesting independently published books on her blog.

She also brought my attention to a  really interesting used book scheme  that is promoting literacy in the UK, whilst reducing waste.

How to Write Better Book Reviews

Spells & spaceships.

Spells and Spaceships Book Blogger

Alex @ Spells & Spaceships has cornered the SFF book blogging game like an absolute pro.

His interviews with authors are always interesting, and his famed #Norsevember month of Norse-based content is really impressive.

Little Bird Book Blog

Little Bird Book Blog has captured a really neat aesthetic; it’s approachable and captures what Rosie, the blogger, is all about.

She has a very conversational writing style, which brings you closer to the writing itself. I really enjoy that aspect of her blogging.

Little Bird Book Blogger

Cozy With Books

Cozy with Books once posted 100 blog posts in 100 days . That’s how seriously she takes blogging. Her dedication is matched equally by her quality of content.

Plus, Esther’s just a really flipping nice person.

Cozy with Books Blogger

We don’t typically read the same books, but that’s partly why I enjoy her blog so much – it exposes me to other types of writing.

Lit Lemon Books

Lit Lemon Books

Mackenzie @ Lit Lemon Books is brilliant. She posts regular, diverse book-related content – as well as some fun ‘beyond bookish’ posts including her  favourite scary movies .

Interestingly, she also challenged herself to ‘read for free’ back in 2022, by supporting local libraries. For many of us, the idea of not buying new books for an entire year is virtually impossible, so do check in and see how she’s doing!

Out of This World SFF

Out of this World SFF Book Blogger

As you can perhaps take away from the name, Out of This World SFF is a blog geared towards fantasy and science fiction novels.

However, this is a blog that focuses on new and upcoming books from less-known presses and independently published fiction. Nick, who runs the blog, also publishes a variety of content outside of reviews, including book tour stops, cover reveals, and author interviews.

Because of this approach to blogging, readers of Out of This World SFF should expect to find fresh, exciting new writing in the sci-fi and fantasy genres.

Book Bloggers Beginner's Guide to SEO

A literary escape.

A Literary Escape Book Blogger

Celeste is a fine book blogger who runs A Literary Escape –  a book blog that focuses primarily on fantasy fiction. However, she also publishes the occasional science fiction and non-fiction review (including high-profile release, Spare ).

Reviews on A Literary Escape adopt a more conversational tone, which is super approachable, digestible, and actually feels very personal to the reader. Reviews provoke conversation, which is why Celeste has a healthy community of regular commenters.

Definitely worth checking out.

The Redhead Notes

Jennie @ The Redhead Notes positions herself as a blogger who empowers authors by giving them a platform online.

The Redhead Notes Book Blogger

As such, she features a lot of guest posts on a variety of topics. from  spotlighting  indie publishers  to the more quirky articles such as a guide to tea-drinking .

It’s a unique corner of the internet, and the sheer variety of content on offer makes The Redhead Notes a book blog that comes highly recommended.

Bookaholic Bex

Bex is one of the funniest, most authentic people on Twitter – and a  super passionate blogger . After all, she’s focused on ‘books, more books, and nothing but the books’!

If you’re not  following Bex , you’re missing out big time.

Bookaholic Bex Book Blogger

Beth of BooksNest has been blogging at booksnest.co.uk for a few years now, but really found a voice and presence on YouTube.

Recently she’s pivoted towards travel-based vlogs, but high-quality bookish content remains at the heart of  her channel .

BooksNest Profile Picture

A Frolic Through Fiction

Ashleigh at A Frolic Through Fiction is pretty prolific bookish content creator across both Bookstagram and BookTube.

And with a cozy cottagecore vibe and aesthetic, A Frolic Through Fiction videos always come with exceptional production value.

A Frolic Through Fiction BookTube Blogger

From witchy books recommendations for your TBR, through to bullet journal planning, and even immersive ASMR videos – A Frolic Through Fiction is a BookTube channel with some incredible content.

The Not So Secret Bookaholic

Chelsea, aka The Not So Secret Bookaholic, is a BookTuber who focuses primarily on TBR recommendations, book hauls, and weekly reading vlogs.

Not So Secret Bookaholic Booktube Blogger

Using less stylisation and filters than other BookTubers, she keeps her content lean, clean, and super authentic.

It’s this authenticity and approachable screen presence that makes The Not So Secret Bookaholic channel such a great channel to tune into on a weekly basis!

An avid reader and a bookworm at heart, “C.A.” as she prefers for her name, creates reviews that are as vivid and alive as the scenes in the book. In a short amount of time, she is able to transfer her reading of various genres into engaging and meaningful reviews and thoughts.

13 Best Book Blogs To Follow And Get Inspired By

In my book blogging journey, I researched many of the best book blogs online.

It’s been more than a year of my book blogging journey and I still avidly read these bloggers posts as it sparks content ideas for my own book blog.

In this article, book blogging here refers to book review blogs or book blog websites. I’m not talking about book bloggers on instagram or book bloggers on Youtube.

This post is dedicated to the best book bloggers who write long-form helpful reviews on their websites.

You can also use these book blog examples to learn a thing or two about book blogging before starting your own blog!

Start a book blog:

70 Book Blog Post Ideas To Kickstart Your Book Blog

350+ book blog name ideas that stand out (2023), book blogging for beginners (10 truths you need to hear right now), who is a book blogger and what do they do.

A book blogger is an avid reader who writes book reviews. They also write other posts related to books.

Book bloggers spend a lot of their time reading, hence book blogging is not an easy going hobby or career although one may enjoy it.

Book blogging can also be done on many platforms – not just a traditional blog.

Some other ways you can book blog:

  • Starting A Booktok (Tiktok)
  • Starting A Booktube (Youtube
  • Starting A Bookstagram (Instagram)

Are Book Blogs Still Popular?

Do people still read book blogs? Yes, they do.

Although social media platforms are preferred by most readers to share their book reviews (such as Instagram, Youtube and TikTok), people who love to read books will read book reviews.

Naturally, they are readers and therefore tend to read book reviews on a blog for better insight.

Book blogging is not dead even though we live in an era of short and easy to consume content.

12 Best Book Blogs To Follow And Get Inspired By

Here are some of the most popular book blogs on the internet and some of my personal favourites.

1. What’s Hot Blog

best book blogs

What’s Hot Blog is the first book blog I’ve ever stumbled upon. Laura, founder of this book and travel blog has been blogging for years and is a very famous book blogger.

She is also one of the best book bloggers – an award-winning book blogger based in London.

I love the aesthetic of her blog. Her images are so bright and beautiful to look at. She also has some content around literary travel which is perfect for book enthusiasts who love to travel.

Laura also has some great bookshop guides . I hope I get to visit some of the bookshops in London that she recommends in 14 Specialist Bookshops in London You Need to Visit .

2. Book Riot

best book blogs

Book Riot is my go-to book blog for book recommendations.

Book Riot is a book media website with high quality editorial content.

This book entertainment site is also inclusive – which I appreciate as there is a diverse range of book recommendations for different types of people all over the world.

Book Riot also publishes opinionated pieces revolving around the book and publishing industry that may or may not be controversial.

For example, this post on Why Aren’t There More Fat Men In Romance Novels? Is a bold post for sure. It addresses the stigma around plus size men and women.

3. Books And Bao

best book blogs

Books and Bao is a book and travel blog specialising in translated literature and culture.

Books and Bao is founded by Jessica and Will who have travelled a lot in recent years. Hence, explaining all the content around different cultures from various parts of the world.

This blog is filled with diverse literature recommendations. Books and Bao is one of the very first blogs I came across when looking for Japanese and Korean literature novels.

They have a ray of helpful guides on books, travel, lifestyle and culture related to Southeast Asia .

They are also my go-to blog for:

  • Manga Reviews
  • Korean Literature and Culture
  • Japanese Literature and Culture

I am also subscribed to their Youtube channel . If you aren’t a fan of reading blog posts, their youtube is also a great way to gain insight on translated literature and travel.

4. She Reads Romance

best book blogs

Looking for a romance book blog?

If you’re looking for a list of romance books, book boyfriends, romance tropes and everything romance – She Reads Romance is your number one romance blog to go to.

She Reads Romance is a blog by Leslie who loves happily-ever-after stories and everything romance .

She also has a romance book printable journal that helps you keep track of all romance books you’ve read and want to read.

If you’re looking for a romance book of a specific trope – you’re most likely going to find them in this ultimate romance book post on her blog.

5. Kirkus Reviews

best book blogs

Kirkus Reviews is definitely one of the best book review blogs out there you should follow!

Whenever I need to get a quick review of a book from any genre, Kirkus usually has the short well-written review for the book.

It is usually a short 500 word review that really gives me just enough information if I want to read the book or not.

Kirkus Reviews also has their own book award – Kirkus Prize which is pretty well-known by readers and authors.

This book review website also has a section for writers who need some writing resources – Writers’ Center.

6. The Espresso Edition

best book blogs

Is one of the best book bloggers on Instagram.

Although her bookstagram is super popular, her blog really stands out from other book bloggers. This is because it’s super cozy!

Her blog aesthetic makes you want to keep scrolling.

Personally, I love coffee so this blog really felt like home to me. I love everything – the colours, the coffee photography and of course, the content.

Stephanie from The Espresso Edition also has some pretty good blogging tips that I always go back to.

The Espresso Edition is definitely one of my top book blogs i’d recommend to follow.

7. The Literary Lifestyle by: Jules Buono

best book blogs

The Literary Lifestyle by Jules Buono is probably one of the book blogs with the catchiest names ever.

“Literary Lifestyle” – where books meet lifestyle. I quite like that as I think reading should be a lifestyle, not just another habit you’re doing because “it’s good for you”.

Jules’ book blog is really unique in my opinion because of The Rory Gilmore Book Club.

To be honest, I’ve never really bothered to watch Gilmore Girls but as soon as I found Jules’ book blog – I binged watched all the seasons and loved it!

This ultimate list of Rory Gilmore books is very impressive. Definitely a blog you must check out!

8. Never Enough Novels

best book blogs

Just like the name suggests, Never Enough Novels is focused mainly on book reviews and recommendations.

Rachel, founder of this book blog, started this blog because she is a lifelong reader who wants to bring joy to other readers and that sounds amazing!

What I personally enjoyed from this book blog is the mini reviews .

Sometimes, we don’t have time to read super long reviews and this monthly mini book wrap up and review is such a smart idea!

9. The Book Family Rogerson

best book blogs

A book blog you don’t see everyday – a family book blog!

I think it is so lovely that this book blog is run by a little family who loves books – a couple and their 9-year-old kid.

The idea of having a family who reads always warms my heart. I always find myself coming back to this blog because of the literary travel content and fun bookstagram tips.

10. Book List Queen

best book blogs

Book List Queen – perfect name to describe this book blog.

You can find almost any list of books you need.

From new book releases to themed book lists like best summer books – you can definitely find the right book for you.

I love that Rachael decided to start this blog so that she can review and create lists of books to save readers’ time.

She mentions how frustrating it is to invest time and money in a book that you end up not enjoying reading.

So she decided to read lots of books and create content on her blog that will help all kinds of readers!

We’re all definitely grateful for that.

11. Four Minute Books

best book blogs

Four Minute Books has over 1000 free book summaries. This is definitely one of the best book summary blogs on the book blogging space.

I stumbled upon Four Minute Books when looking for James Clear’s Atomic Habits summary .

I like reading book summaries before deciding to buy a non-fiction book.

Non-fiction books take a bit more effort for me to read and therefore I’d like an overall picture of the book before investing my time and money in it.

Read: 30 Note-Worthy Atomic Habits Quotes By James Clear

12. Drizzle and Hurricane Books

best book blogs

Drizzle and Hurricane Books are founded by two sisters who love to read. I love that these two sisters share the same passion for books .

I slightly envy them because my sister loves books too but she doesn’t like posting about them.

Anyway, this blog warms my heart with recommendations. Marie is the founder of the blog while Nyx is the co-founder – you can read her reviews here.

13. The Uncorked Librarian

best book blogs

The Uncorked Librarian is a unique book blog that has been quite around for sometime. It is one of the first few book blogs i’ve stumbled upon that inspired me to start my own book blog.

It also has many book lists inspired by travel locations!

This popular book blog differs from others because it has cocktail recipes and movie recommendations in addition to books.

How Do I Get A Book Blogger To Review My Book?

Although book bloggers read and write out of passion, in today’s world where influencer marketing is growing big – many book bloggers are part of the influencer marketing community.

This means they would appreciate receiving free books in exchange for an honest review.

Some of them also have their respective charges per post (depending on which social platform they publish them – Youtube, Instagram, Blog, etc)

To work with a book blogger, here is a few things to look out for:

  • Their about page/bio (get to know the blogger, what genre they prefer to read)
  • Their media kit (their rates for different types of content and how you can reach out to them)
  • Their previous sponsored work (checkout existing paid reviews to manage expectations).

Wrap Up: 13 Best Book Blogs To Follow And Get Inspired By

And there you have it, the best blogs about books to follow and get inspired by! Specially curated by me.

I took some time and effort in researching book blogs before I started my own blog to have some sense of direction related to content creation and branding.

I hope this list of best book bloggers help you!

best book review blogs

Reach the most popular book blogs

The book blog sites listed in our directory are vetted for quality: they are active, have clear review policies, and usually have a good following on social media. In fact, the ~1000 book blogs in our catalog have a cumulative following of over 1,000,000 readers . The most popular book review sites in our catalog have between 10,000 and 70,000 followers.

Many of these sites not only review books but also accept guest posts, do cover reveals, and participate in blog tours. While the top book blogs tend be YA book review blogs and romance book review blogs , we also feature less common genres like travel book review blogs , business book review blogs , comic book blogs , and paranormal book blogs .

Increase your response rates

Book promotion blogs are in demand because they provide a valuable service: free book reviews and book promotion. We surveyed ~500 book bloggers and learned that ~25% of book pitches they receive don ' t match their preferences. Some bloggers reported as high as 50%! Not only are book bloggers often getting irrelevant requests, but they are also busy. Book blogging is their spare-time hobby, not their job.

We have curated a large book blogger list so you have the necessary information at your fingertips to craft a personalized and relevant book pitch to book bloggers. These bloggers have opted-in to be in our directory , so they are expecting your email.

Here are some tips to optimize your response rates:

  • Address them by their first name. Bonus points if you also peruse their blog and find something in common to break the ice.
  • Mention how your book ' s genre fits into their reading preferences. For example, don ' t send your mystery novel to horror book review blogs . Send it to mystery book review blogs instead.
  • Provide them a format of your book that they will actually read.

Expedite your reviewer outreach...

  • Save time and let us handle the busy work of distributing your book to reviewers and following up.
  • Promote your book to bloggers you see here plus thousands more readers who enjoy writing reviews.
  • See more honest reviews appear on Amazon / Goodreads while you spend your time writing!

Save time with smart filters

Looking for the top YA book blogs ? Or perhaps you want to connect with Christian book bloggers ? Maybe you want to restrict your search to the best book blogs in the UK? We have you covered. You can start by searching our book blogger directory by genre to see the book blogs which review books in the genre you searched for.

You can further narrow down the search results based on whether the blog is currently open to review requests, is a free book review site, is an ebook blog, is open to self-published authors, and cross posts their book review on Amazon and Goodreads. Best of all, we keep every site ' s preferences up to date, so you can be confident that you are not missing out on potential leads.

We surveyed ~100 indie authors and publicists and learned that the average indie author spends between 6-24 hrs contacting book reviewers to review their book. Our search tool will reduce your time investment considerably, so you can win back your time and do what you do best — write! And best of all, it is free :)

Book Review Blogs/Websites

Hi! I've been doing so much reading this year and it's getting to the point where I feel like I need to do more with what I'm consuming than just moving onto the next read (as great as that is!).

I wanted to start looking into reviewing books--not really for profit or clicks or anything, just for my own personal shits and giggles. I started up a blog for it and though it doesn't get a lot of attention, I've found it to be kind of rewarding, and knowing that I might post about a book later has started to help me better retain the things I read.

Has anyone here found luck in this sort of avenue? Do you know any good book review sites to share? I have a Goodreads account and will read book reviews on there sometimes, but I don't like to take things so seriously, and taking things too seriously seems to be that website's sort of wheelhouse.

Thanks in advance! :)

Top-Notch Book Review Sites for Readers & Writers

best book review blogs

Book reviews are for all of us.

Readers need to know whether books with the best covers are worth the time they’re about to put into it. They find it helpful (and fun!) to check out reviews after reading the books, too, so they can see what other real-life humans had to say about it.

Authors & publishers need to get book reviews to build buzz and credibility for their product. Librarians & booksellers need to hear from trusted sources that the book they are about to buy for their collection has the capability to get picked up & to satisfy.

Book review sites have transformed the book-recommending landscape.

We can write reviews on product pages, on social media apps, and some of us, for publications that have been around since before the internet. Book reviewing has changed. But maybe it also hasn’t.

What kind of book review sites are you looking for? Chances are, this list has you covered.

Here are 30+ book review sites to read, write, and bookmark.

best book review blogs

1. Independent Book Review

Independent Book Review: A Celebration of indie press and self-published books logo for book review sites

Does this logo look familiar? (Hint: You’re sitting on it).

IBR, the website you’re on RIGHT NOW, is all about indie books . There are so many books in the world right now, but if you feel like you keep seeing the same ones recommended over and over, start reading indie!

Independent presses & self-published authors are doing some incredible work right now. IBR reviews books, curates lists, does indie bookstore round-ups, and uses starred reviews & best-of-the-year lists to show which books are going to blow your mind.

2. Book Marks

Book Marks (Lit Hub) logo with books on outside of logo

Lit Hub rules. You already knew this.

But do you know about Book Marks? They’re a branch of the Lit Hub network, and they are an excellent way for booksellers and librarians to get shorter recaps from multiple sources and voices.

Their staff peruses book review sites and shares pull-quotes from them in book lists & more. By reading all of these sites, they can give the book a rating based on the average: “Rave, Positive, Mixed, or Pan.”

My favorite book-buying platform, Bookshop , uses Book Marks’ scale for their books’ ratings, and I love getting access to that.

3. Publishers Weekly

best book review blogs

Publishers Weekly has been around since 1872. By now, they’re a review churning machine. They cover so much of the book industry in so many different ways, reviewing nearly 9,000 books per year and providing publication announcements, agency announcements, industry job listings , bestseller lists, industry stats, a self-publishing partner, and more.

4. Kirkus Reviews

best book review blogs

Another one that’s been around since before the internet! 1933 to be exact. Kirkus is a widely recognized publication that book buyers & librarians follow carefully. I dare you to find a bookstore or library that doesn’t have multiple books with Kirkus Reviews plastered on their front and back covers.

5. Booklist

best book review blogs

The American Library Association runs Booklist , a platform dedicated to helping libraries, educators, and booksellers choose books. They’ve got a magazine (since 1905!), book reviews, lists, awards, and one of my favorite bookish podcasts out there: Shelf Care .

6. Library Journal & School Library Journal

best book review blogs

As you might be able to guess, Library Journal & School Library Journal focus on librarians too! They review a ton of books, and they write often about library-related news, collection management, technology, programs, and more. If you’re an author hoping to land your book in libraries, these are essential targets.

7. BookPage

Bookpage is written across a background of books in this logo for IBR's list of the best book review sites

You may have seen BookPage in your local library or bookstore. Some shops provide it for free so that patrons can look through it to find which books to buy in-store. Their website is clean and intriguing and always full of the most up-to-date releases and bestsellers.

Speaking of libraries! Have you seen our gifts for librarians ?

8. Foreword

best book review blogs

Foreword is such an enthusiastic and dedicated champion of indie books, and they’ve been doing it since the 90s! I love how much attention university presses get here too. Their reviews are well-written & thorough, in both print & digital, and I always find something to speed-purchase once the Foreword Indie winners come out.

9. LoveReading

Lovereading logo features a heart surrounded by a folded book

LoveReading is a top book-recommendation website in the UK. They’ve got starred reviews, lists, staff picks, a LitFest , eBooks, and they even donate 25% of the cover price of their books to schools of your choice. It’s reader-friendly and apparent how much they appreciate the wonder of books.

10. Washington Independent Review of Books

best book review blogs

What’s not to love about The Independent?

Back in 2011, a group of writers & editors were frustrated by newspapers dropping book review sections and decided to do something about it. The Washington Independent Review of Books is quite a lovely something! This nonprofit posts every day: from reviews to interviews to essays and podcasts. They host events too!

11. Book Riot

best book review blogs

Try being a reader and not finding something you love on Book Riot. Book lists, podcasts, personalized recommendations, newsletters, book deals—this site is a haven.

It doesn’t post solo book reviews like other sites, but they do share mini-reviews in book lists and talk about reading in unique & passionate ways. The Book Riot Podcast is such a winner too! I love listening to Jeff & Rebecca laugh about the latest in books & reading.

12. Electric Lit

best book review blogs

From novel excerpts to original short fiction & poetry, they might not only be a book review site,  but they do offer a lot in the world of book recommendations. Their Recommended Reading lit mag features unique staff picks and short, insightful book reviews.

13. The Millions

best book review blogs

The writing in The Millions is something to behold. They are an artful source for all things book reviews & recommendations. They write stunning essays about books & reading and long reviews of new and old books. They’ve got some of my favorite Most Anticip ated lists too.

What are the biggest benefits of reading ? 🧐

14. Bookforum

best book review blogs

Did you hear? Bookforum is back ! This book review magazine announced in December 2022 that they were closing, and my heart sank a little bit. This company means so much to the publishing industry and has for 20+ years, so when I saw (last week!) that they are returning, I did more than a few jumps for joy.

Welcome back, Bookforum! Can’t wait to see what you’ve got coming for us in book world coverage.

best book review blogs

BOMB is in it for the art. Art, literature, film, music, theater, architecture, and dance. There are reviews and interviews, and the literature section is a real delight. The reviews are like poignant essays, and the author interviews are in-depth and feature some fascinating minds.

16. The Asian Review of Books

best book review blogs

The only dedicated pan-Asian book review publication! It’s widely cited and features some of the best in Asian books and art, so booksellers and librarians have a source to trust to stock their collections with high-quality pan-Asian lit.

Have you seen our gifts for book lovers yet?

17. Chicago Review of Books

best book review blogs

I love so much of what Chicago Review of Books does. They have a clean & sleek design that features some of the buzziest books as well as plenty of hidden gems from our favorite indie presses. I’m a particularly big fan of the spotlight they put on books in translation .

18. Rain Taxi

best book review blogs

I love Rain Taxi ’s style! They champion unique books, publish their own fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, and put a real emphasis on art for their magazine covers . It’s a beautiful print magazine to subscribe to, but they also share free online editions & digital archives. They even run the Rain Taxi Reading Series & Twin Cities Book Festival if you’re a real-lifer in Minnesota!

19. The Rumpus

best book review blogs

Oh, The Rumpus ! This mostly volunteer-run online magazine publishes reviews, interviews, essays, fiction, and poetry. The reviews are in-depth and personal and heart-melting, and in addition to the site, they’ve got cool perks like the Poetry Book Club  and Letters in the Mail . The book club is where you get a pre-release book and meet the poet via Slack with other club members at the end of the month, and Letters in the Mail are actual postcards sent in the mail to you twice a month from your favorite authors.

20. Book Reporter

Book reporter is a book review site where readers and writers click.

The selection in Book Reporter is carefully curated & enticing: hot new releases, forthcoming books, major presses, & indies. And there are plenty of unique ways to learn about them, like video interviews and monthly lists & picks. It launched in 1996 and is in The Book Report Network, which includes Reading Group Guides , a super useful resource for book clubs.

Writers & readers—where bookish people meet! LitReactor’s book reviews are in the magazine portion of their website, and they’ve got plenty of them! Reviews, interviews, lists, introspectives, writing tips, and reading discussions. I’ve found some really unique content on Lit Reactor, like this ranking of literary parents . The website is a haven for writers especially, as there are workshops, writing blog posts, and even a forum to participate in.

best book review blogs

For all you historical fiction fans out there, the Historical Novel Society has reviewed more than 20,000 books in its twenty years. best book review blogs

Did you know that there are over 125 million members on Goodreads? When users review books, they can have conversations with fellow readers and follow reviewers too. If you’re looking for the biggest community, there’s no doubt Goodreads is the one. I like using sites like this because it helps you catalog books, one of my favorite ways to build a strong reading habit .

best book review blogs

A big community of active users that’s Amazon free! Come review books, use half & quarter stars (!), and complete reading challenges. You got this.

29. Bookwyrm

best book review blogs

Bookwyrm is small (around 5,000 members at the time of this writing), but doesn’t that sound kind of nice? There are active members and a genuine collective goal in talking books. Grow with it. I think you’ll be comfy here. There are other communities within the Bookwyrm umbrella too, like Bookrastinating .

30. Reedsy Discovery

best book review blogs

I hold a special place in my heart for book review sites dedicated to helping writers! I got into this business as a book marketer, and I experienced first-hand, through hundreds of books, how hard it was to get exposure & validation for small press and self-published authors.

Reedsy Discovery is a branch of Reedsy (the author resource company) that connects authors & reviewers so that people can read free books, sometimes receive tips for it, and authors can get more reviews in the process. Readers can choose from the latest books as well as the ones that are getting the best reviews.

31. Netgalley

best book review blogs

Netgalley is a book review site for pre-released books. Reviewers sign up for a free account, request galleys from publishers and indie authors, and get to read them before they’re published so that they can leave reviews for the book, preferably on Amazon, Goodreads, or their blog. They also run Bookish , the editorial arm of Netgalley, which has book recommendations, interviews, and more.

32. Online Book Club

best book review blogs

This review site combines a bunch of cool things! The 4-million member community gives me a lot of Goodreads vibes, especially with the Bookshelves app . But Online Book Club is a place for you to get eBook deals and talk about books in reviews and forums.

Linda's Book Bag

https://lindasbookbag.com/

The blog was initially designed to share a few thoughts about the books I read and that's the aspect I still enjoy most. I don't give star ratings as my 5 stars might be someone else's 3 so I say what I thought instead, trying to be as honest as I can and I make the review personal to me as a reader. After a few months of blogging I realised just how hard it is for smaller publishers and independent authors to get their books noticed so I'm always willing to feature them if I can.

I started my book blog as a way to have a presence as an editor online, but started enjoying reading and reviewing so much more than I thought. I am based in Australia, so I am always eager to learn about new Australian authors. Currently my favourite genre is crime, whether it's adult fiction, YA or NA. I'm a fan of urban fantasy and contemporary reads as well.

So you want to find a book blog?

If you’re a voracious reader, you might think of a book blog as an oasis in the middle of the desert: a place on the Internet that brims with talk about books, books, and more books.

Well, good news — we built this directory of the 200 of the best book blogs  to satiate your thirst. Take a walk around, use the filters to narrow down your search to blogs in your preferred genre, and feel free to bookmark this page and come back, as we do update it regularly with more of the best book blogs out there.

If you’re an aspiring author, you might see a book blog more as a book review blog: a place where you can get your yet-to-be published book reviewed. In that case, you’ll be glad to know that most of the book blogs in our directory are open to review requests and accept indie books! We expressly designed this page (and our book marketing platform, Reedsy Discovery ) to be useful to indie book authors who need book reviews. If you’re wondering how to approach a book blog for a review request, please read on.

You’ve found a book blog. Now what?

Let’s say that you’re an author, and you’ve found a couple of book blogs that would be perfect fits to review your book. What now? Here are some tips as you go about getting your book reviews:

  • Be sure to read the review policy. First, check that the book blog you’re querying is open to review requests. If that’s the fortunate case, carefully read the blog’s review policy and make sure that you follow the directions to a T.
  • Individualize your pitches. Book bloggers will be able to immediately tell apart the bulk pitches, which simply come across as thoughtless and indifferent. If you didn’t take the time to craft a good pitch, why should the blogger take the time to read your book? Personalize each pitch to up your chances of getting a response.
  • Format your book in a professional manner before sending it out. Ensure that your manuscript isn’t presented sloppily. If the book blogger asks for a digital ARC, you might want to check out apps such as Instafreebie or Bookfunnel.
  • Create a spreadsheet to track your progress. Wading through so many book blogs can be troublesome — not to mention trying to remember which ones you’ve already contacted. To save yourself the time and trouble, use a simple Excel spreadsheet to keep track of your progress (and results).

Looking to learn even more about the process? Awesome 👍 For a detailed guide, check out this post that’s all about getting book reviews.
