This page may contain links from our sponsors. Here’s how we make money .
If youâre looking for a side gig, but need something ultra-flexible to fit around your current schedule, you may want to consider microtasking.
As the name suggests, microtasks are small tasks or jobs that are performed in a matter of seconds or a few minutes. The best microtask websites allow you to work during the gaps in your schedule without getting too involved in something that would distract you from other obligations.
Here Iâll explore the websites for microtasking and how you can use these online micro jobs as a side hustle.
Table of Contents
How Much Money Can I Make from Microtask Sites?
Micro tasks are not the highest-paying side gig in terms of hourly wage. Many tasks only offer a few cents or less, but the strength of this opportunity is that it’s highly flexible and anyone can do it. Generally, you wonât need any previous experience (just basic computer skills), so you can jump straight in and start completing micro tasks for money.
Typical microtask jobs include basic proofreading, testing games, writing reviews, testing apps, sorting emails, content moderation, and URL searches.
Most microtaskers earn a fairly low hourly rate. While it’s not the best option for someone wanting to make a significant amount of cash, if you need flexibility in your side gig, it’s possible to earn $50 to $100 per week or more without any specific time commitment.
Also, you can start immediately. Sign up now and complete your first microtask job in a few minutes. Some other side hustles require more significant time investments or a waiting period before you’ll be able to start making money.

Best Microtasking Sites for Micro Jobs
With so many micro job sites available, it can be tricky to determine which ones are legit and represent decent earning potential. So, here are some of the best microtask sites.
1. Clickworker
Clickworker is a microtasking website that hires independent contractors who provide services using their own computers. The platform has a standard web browser that allows you to complete tasks, which are usually a part of a more complex, larger project.
Clickworker has a sophisticated platform that allows its team to coordinate and oversee tasks for optimum workflow. The projects may include processing data, text translations, web investigations, and tagging.
According to Clickworker, workers can earn an average of $9 per hour , but if you have experience and concentration, you could boost this to âwell overâ $10.
2. Mechanical Turk
Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a branch of Amazon and is one of the original employers offering short tasks and micro jobs. Amazon Mechanical Turk offers HITs or Human Intelligence Tasks. You can choose specific tasks and complete them for the listed fee. This can include image processing, information gathering, data verification, and data processing.
The tasks are posted by âRequesters,â and they may require that you take a test or obtain a âqualificationâ to ensure you have the aptitude for specific tasks. The payment for each short task is typically quite low, so youâre not likely to earn more than 10 cents per minute.
Additionally, the requester needs to approve the quality of your work. So, you do need to be careful when youâre choosing tasks, so you only select ones you have the skills to do well and quickly.
Overall, MTurk is one of the most well-known microtasking sites, partly because it is owned by a world-famous company, Amazon.
3. Swagbucks ($10 bonus)

As one of the more popular and active micro job sites in the industry, Microworkers is one you should try if you want to get paid for microtasks.

Zeerk markets itself as a micro job and freelancer portal. You can browse or offer gigs that range from $3 to $200 per task. This makes Zeerk an alternative to Fiverr, with a great focus on micro jobs.
The tasks vary, but youâre likely to see lots of freelancers offering to sell followers, likes, and upvotes on social media platforms.

Your earning potential depends on the call category you specify. The lowest-paying categories offer $0.06 to $0.10 per task. However, you will be allocated an accuracy rating, which will earn you a higher rate of pay. February 18, 2024 122 Comments
If you have a little one at home — you know how difficult it can be to get things done. But just because you have a household filled with chatter and unpredictable schedules doesn’t mean that you can’t work from home. Short tasks, also called micro-jobs or pay-per-task jobs, are the perfect way for busy moms to earn some extra money while still being readily available for their kiddos.
A micro-task job is any job or assignment that can be completed in a short amount of time. The tasks that can be completed vary in nature (writing, editing, taking surveys, transcription, watching a video, online research, etc.), as does the pay. But the reason this is such an excellent opportunity for moms is that the tasks can be done at any time, and the majority of short jobs don’t require phone work , which requires a quiet household.
If you have kiddos running around your house, here are 24 small task sites that allow you to work whenever you have free time, and make extra money on the side.
1. Swagbucks
Swagbucks is a microtask platform where you can earn points called SB, which you can redeem for gift cards from places like Starbucks, Walmart, PayPal and Visa. With Swagbucks, you can earn SB by playing games , answering questions, shopping online, and even surfing the web using their search bar. If you refer your friends — you can earn even more. New users will receive a $10.00 sign-up bonus! The thing I like about Swagbucks is you can redeem your earnings with as little as $3.00 in your account.
- Swagbucks has a B rating with the Better Business Bureau
2. InboxDollars
With InboxDollars , US residents can earn cash for taking surveys, reading emails, playing games, redeeming coupons, searching the web, and shopping online. Payment options include PayPal, American Express or Visa Pre-Paid cards, or gift cards from major retailers. InboxDollars is open to US residents 18 years and older. If you’d like to know more, check out our full review of InboxDollars .

Individuals must have a bachelor’s degree. Tutors earn an average of $3.00 per question, earning around $12-$20 per hour. Work as many hours as you’d like; all you need is a reliable internet connection.
- Course Hero has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau
4. TELUS International
TELUS International , which acquired Lionbridge, hires independent contractors to work on microtasks like translation, transcription, rating ads, annotation, search engine evaluation, and testing. You must first prove your proficiency by taking and passing relevant evaluation tests (which I’ve heard are pretty challenging). Once they have your evaluation scores, you’ll receive invites to work on available projects. With these gigs, you can work whenever, wherever, and as much as you’d like.
- TELUS International has an A- rating with the Better Business Bureau
Fiverr is a little different in that you don’t search for jobs. Instead, you post tasks you’re willing to complete for $5.00-$10,000. People sell everything from writing services, design services, and voice-over services to making phone calls and videos. Once you make a sale, Fiverr will keep a fee of 20%, and payments will be made via PayPal.
If you’re interested in how people are making a full-time income with Fiverr, check out The Fiverr Mastermind Group. They are six Fiverr power sellers who earn six figures a year each, and they wrote an e-book about their success with the platform: The Fiverr Master Class : The Fiverr Secrets Of Six Power Sellers That Enable You To Work From Home!
- Fiverr gets an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau
6. Amazon Mechanical Turk
Over at Amazon’s MTurk , you can make money online working on HITS (Human Intelligence Tasks). A few of the tasks that I saw listed were transcribing information from a business card to a form with a payout of $0.02. Another task was transcribing a voicemail from audio to text (audio length of three hours), a payout of $76.19. After completing the task and the requester approves your work, the money goes into your Amazon payments account or onto an Amazon gift card .
Amazon MTurk tends to get mixed reviews. Some people complained of low payouts, and others have said their work wasn’t approved, so they didn’t get paid. We have no way of knowing the quality of their work, and if denial of payment was justified, so read through reviews before deciding to join.
- Amazon’s MTurk receives a 2.5-star rating on Trustpilot

17. Respondent
Respondent is a research study organization that pays individuals to participate in focus group studies, short surveys, and website testing gigs. According to their website, the average study or survey is 30 minutes in length, and the average payout is $75 per study. Many of their studies are for professionals, not the general public, so you’ll need to meet specific criteria to qualify for studies. Payments come through your PayPal account.

Upwork is a freelance platform where small business owners can post tasks and projects that they need to have completed. Some projects pay by the hour, and others pay a fixed price based on the project. The main job categories include IT, design, sales and marketing, writing and translation, admin and customer support, and finance and accounting. Once you find a task that appeals to you, send your proposal to the business owner and wait to see if you’re chosen for the assignment. While some gigs are low-paying, you can earn good money by establishing yourself as a reliable and talented freelancer. Danny Ivy started on Upwork and generated six figures in one year — you can read his Upwork success story here .

Last Words About Short Task Jobs
A few last words about micro-task sites.
There are other micro job sites out there, but not all are reputable. If you find another short task site, please do your research to ensure that they are legit and worth your time. Trustpilot, Glassdoor, Indeed, and the BBB are excellent places to search for reviews. Also, look to see when the app or website was last updated. Apps and websites that are sitting on the web stagnant are susceptible to hackers placing viruses, malware, and trojans which can potentially steal your personal information.
Because opportunities will not always be available, you should consider signing up for multiple sites. This way, you have a better chance of consistently having tasks to choose from. But before you register, you’ll want to create an email account just for these opportunities. Many of these sites send a lot of emails, and it will be easier to manage if you have a separate email account just for your short task jobs.
All of these are independent contracting roles, so you’ll need to set aside money for self-employment taxes.
Lastly, short tasks will not make you rich, but they are an easy way to earn a little extra cash without having to get a job. After all, you’re most likely online, so instead of scrolling through Facebook or Instagram, use your time to make some extra money.

Hello Holly, I am mainly writing this to thank you so much for making something like this even available to us people out here, that are seeking work@home gigs. I am looking for a few for myself & for my 40 something Neice, she’s in dire straits right now. Well, I’d imagine that many people are, well I have found some interesting possibilities on your listings for my Neice & for myself as well. So thank you very much for taking the time out of your own life to offer all of these listings. For me I am nearly age 71 now & I am on a very low Social Security income, so hopefully the ones I’ve checked off with have a job or jobs for me, thanks again.

Does anyone test or have any comment about socialtasks.net?
August 7, 2023 at 11:30 am
It looks very suspicious. There is no information about the company, and there is no way to contact them. They have vague job descriptions, and there’s no presence of the company other than their website.

Oh my goodness I do not know if it is me or what but CrowdFlower is horrible! I tried it just now because of the recommendation and I couldn’t log in to the task. It said it couldn’t find my email address. I don’t know if they need to update the script on their site or what (which looks criminally old BTW) but I’m going to try out OneSpace first. Thanks for the articles, I work full time but going to try to earn some on the side to pay off some bills that came up recently out of the blue and some moving expenses that will be coming up. Thanks again!
August 16, 2017 at 9:12 am

Holly I Love because is Excellent you Work in this Website… In the moment that I enter captive all my attention and I was interested in reading a lot of information (it is very rare that I passed that to me)… I must say that when I saw the date of publication of this post I became very unmotivated, but when I saw that you still answered the comments and updated the site, I admired you much more. I CONGRATULATE YOU.
Off Topic: (I USE TRANSLATORS) I am to Latin America and my english is very bad (80%), I need a website that is easy to understand and use, simple tasks that help me generate a few dollars… I am in the United States but I would like to be recommended a specific site to make money. 40$ or 50$ semanals with task or jobs easy to perform.

I have been a VA for over 6 years. Recently Upwork (formerly Odesk) has changed it policy and I found out I can no longer work when I came back from a hiatus. The nice thing about Upwork is that people from all over the world can work here for people all over theworld too. Can you please recommend work sites like this? I found out that many US based work from home do not hire people outside the US and you need a 1099. I love working online and on graveyard shifts. Tips are highly appreciated ( I did look up the other websites mentioned above).

Hi Holly Thank you sharing such great information. Everything is so helpful and informative. I am semi-retired and I would like to work remotely. During the week I take care of our granddaughter but I would like to earn extra money and the Task Jobs seem to offer the best opportunity for me. However, I have one question concerning Crowdflower. Do you know if it is possible to pick the tasks you would like to work on and complete? Thank you Barbara

Hi Barbara, I believe you can choose which tasks you want to complete. Good luck and keep me posted!

I use Field Agent, the jobs vary in what is asked; the key is to reserve the assignment as quickly as possible and then complete the job. Somethings have been difficult to complete with small children (i.e. beer store audit), however I sometimes just pop them in the shopping cart while I complete the assignment.
Thank you so much for compiling the information! I will definately check out these platforms!

Spare5 is another great option. I’m from Venezuela, and as you well know, is very difficult for me to get dollars, so I started to looking a way to make money just using my computer. Spare 5 is a short task site too, and you can download the app for Iphone on the app store and also work from a computer, in its web app. Tasks are very intuitive and each one has instructions, in case you can’t understand or just don’t know how to do it.
To sign up: open spare5.com, then click on “start tasking”, select “launch webtasks” and fill the blank spaces. I write this because at first I didn’t know where to sign up, just in case anyone could have the same confusion as me.
PD: Sorry for my basic english.

Hallo Mohamed, I live in Africa and it is sooo frustrating for us because we are locked out of most online jobs. But microworkers.com and crowdflower through clixsense is working for me. At crowdflower it will take some time to get tasks which will eventually raise your level and you will get more tasks, be patient and you will see results. All the best.

CampusTasker is another great Task site. CampusTasker is a site built for college students (Taskers) wanting to make a little extra cash doing odd jobs. Taskers can create accounts and list their skills, task requesters can then post tasks they need done and Taskers are then able to âBidâ on the tasks that they wish to perform.

Thanks for sharing but I think earning on these micro task website is very slow, well still good for beginners
October 16, 2015 at 8:03 am
I think micro-tasks are great for beginners! They don’t take any special skills and they’re a good way to earn money in between looking for jobs, polishing your resume, and interviewing.
And if you use Task Rabbit — you can make pretty decent money — although you won’t be working online.
I personally use Swaybucks and it helps support my Starbucks habit! I wrote about it here in case you’re interested: https://www.theworkathomewoman.com/free-starbucks/

20 Best Places to Find Small Task or Micro Jobs
Our readers always come first.
The content on DollarSprout includes links to our advertising partners. When you read our content and click on one of our partnersâ links, and then decide to complete an offer â whether itâs downloading an app, opening an account, or some other action â we may earn a commission from that advertiser, at no extra cost to you.
Our ultimate goal is to educate and inform, not lure you into signing up for certain offers. Compensation from our partners may impact what products we cover and where they appear on the site, but does not have any impact on the objectivity of our reviews or advice.
If you are also short on time and want to make a little extra spending money, a micro job could be the perfect opportunity for you.

If you’ve ever found yourself short on cash, you know how frustrating it is to need extra money and have no viable way of earning it.
Fortunately, things have changed a lot in the past decade. The gig economy has exploded, and now millions of people can complete “micro jobs” to earn extra money on the side.
What are micro jobs?
Micro jobs are small, easy tasks that can be completed in a short amount of time and generally pay between $3 and $100.
They don’t require an interview, meetings, or set hours, and you can perform micro jobs online or in person.
Despite their flexibility, however, the jobs can be somewhat competitive, and pay isn’t always the highest. If you’re in a pinch, they can be a great source of supplemental income, and they often pay in cash.
If you’re short on time, and need money fast, micro jobs (with same day pay) might be the perfect opportunity for you.
20 Best Places to Find Micro Jobs Online
How do you find micro jobs? Online, of course. There are a variety of micro jobs sites that offer options to workers who want to get paid to do tasks online. You can even combine multiple micro jobs, like audio transcription jobs and freelancing writing, to earn more.
If sitting at home isnât for you, you can also find community-based micro jobs or assist neighbors with short household tasks like lawn mowing or grocery shopping.
Whatever appeals to you, there is a micro jobs website out there that will connect you with people who want to pay for your services.
1. Branded Surveys
Taking online surveys is one of the most popular micro jobs of today, and Branded Surveys focuses on just that.
You’ll get 100 bonus points when you create your account . From there, you’ll be matched with surveys that fit your profile. You can earn additional points by participating in challenges, taking the daily poll, and referring your friends and family.
The more you earn with Branded Surveys, the more opportunity you have to earn free rewards. At 600 points, you’ll become a Branded Elite Silver member. Then at 2,100, you advance to Gold. Elite members are automatically entered into random daily, weekly, and monthly drawings where you can earn up to 1,000 points.
It takes 1,000 points before you can cash out. When you’re ready to redeem your earnings, you can choose between PayPal, direct deposit, or gift cards to popular retailers like Amazon, Apple, Lowe’s, and many more.

2. Freecash
Freecash.com is an flexible platform for earning extra money through micro tasks. By creating a free account , users can test game apps, complete surveys, and engage in various offers, earning points that can be redeemed for cash via PayPal, cryptocurrency, or gift cards.
With over 15 million users and $67 million paid out, the platform is reliable and user-friendly. My personal experience involved earning an average of $22.87 per offer, showing its potential as a lucrative side hustle.
Freecash.comâs easy-to-use interface and the constant influx of new tasks ensure thereâs always something to do. This variety, combined with a reliable payment system, makes it an ideal side hustle stop for anyone looking to supplement their income in their spare time.
3. Tapestri
The smallest micro task I can think of is downloading an app and then doing nothing, and Tapestri offers users just that. Like many apps you probably use everyday (Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps, etc.) Tapestri is an app that collects data from its users. But what makes Tapestri different is that it pays users for their data.
When apps like Facebook or Instagram collect your data, they keep it all to themselves and use it to serve you ads. Your attention is being sold to the highest bidder. In other words, you are the product.
With Tapestri, your data is completely anonymous and not tied to you in any way. The app is very transparent in saying “yes, we do sell your data” but, unlike other apps, they pass along a portion of those profits to you. According to their website, users can earn up to $25 per month passively by having the app installed and tracking in the background. No work required.
4. Swagbucks
Swagbucks is a micro jobs website that awards points for doing easy tasks like shopping at online retailers like Amazon and Starbucks, taking surveys, watching videos, and playing games. The number of points, or Swagbucks (SBs), you earn depends on the task. Swagbucks has a mobile app that allows you to earn points on the go.
You only need around 160 Swagbucks to start redeeming them for cash cards or gift cards to stores like Walmart, Amazon, and iTunes. Occasionally, it has specials where you get the gift cards at discounts below their normal cash value.

5. Respondent
If you’re comfortable sharing your opinions and testing products, you can do remote or in-person research studies from Respondent . These opportunities can include anything from participating in a focus group, doing a one-on-one study, or being involved in UX testing.
Users can earn hundreds of dollars for each research project, which can take several hours to complete. You shouldn’t exclusively rely on this site to make money because it can take a while to be matched with a project that fits your demographic information. Respondent takes a 5% fee and pays via PayPal.

You’ll receive a payment when you complete a HIT. New workers won’t be able to get earnings for 10 days. After that, youâre free to withdraw your money to a bank account or Amazon Payments account any time.
Amazon doesnât report how much the average HIT pays, but a study from Cornell University found that workers reportedly earn about $2 an hour .
8. InboxDollars
Like Swagbucks, InboxDollars is a micro jobs website that pays cash for doing normal online activities. If you shop online, you can also earn cash back, receive free samples, and get access to coupons for groceries, beauty products, home goods, and more.
Instead of earning points, InboxDollars pays out in cash. Earnings vary for each activity. According to InboxDollars, surveys pay between $0.25 and $5.

9. Kashkick
Do you want to answer surveys and play video games for cash ? If the answer is yes, then Kashkick is an excellent website to try out.
This rewards website lets you earn PayPal money for playing games and answering short surveys. It's available in the United States, and it's completely free to sign up .
I like using Kashkick since many of the paid gaming offers pay $10 to $25 or more, so it's a pretty high-paying site. And besides, playing games for cash is a pretty fun side hustle idea .
It takes $10 to cash out, and ultimately, Kashkick is a great website like Remotasks if you want to focus on playing games for cash.
Sign up for Kashkick or read my Kashkick review for more information.
10. iSoftStone
iSoftStone is a A Chinese-based firm that provides a variety of business and IT management services, and it uses microtask workers to help their clients achieve their goals.
The platform is incredibly similar to jobs like Remotasks and Appen. As a iSoftStone worker, you can apply to various part-time jobs and make money online in your spare time .
With multiple offices and warehouses worldwide, iSoftStone is also very globally friendly. So, it could be an excellent Remotasks alternative if other options on this list aren't available where you live.
Workers who work with iSoftStone are paid via direct deposit or through PayPal.
11. Lionbridge
Like Remotasks, another reputable site you can complete short online tasks to earn with is Lionbridge.
Recognized as a best large employer by Forbes magazine, Lionbridge offers microtask work opportunities in a variety of areas. It also has some legit online jobs too you can apply for.
Some of the tasks you can get paid for completing include :
- Content services like writing
- AI services like moderating content and data annotation
- Testing services
Lionbridge also pays U.S. workers bi-weekly via direct deposit. If you're an international worker, Lionbridge pays you monthly via wire transfer.
12. UserTesting
UserTesting is another microtask site like Remotasks that lets you make money by testing websites and apps.
After creating a free account, users take a practice test as a part of their application to join this network. This practice test is unpaid, but future tests are eligible for payment, and you typically earn $10 per 15 minute test you complete .
This is a very high hourly rate, and testing sessions are simple. All you have to do is provide feedback while testing out apps and websites that are in development.
All UserTesting workers are paid in $USD via PayPal. Workers outside the U.S. can convert their payments to their local currency. However, you need a PayPal account to make money with UserTesting.

Sign up for InboxDollars  or check out my review of InboxDollars for more info.
Neevo is an online crowdsourcing company that works on improving artificial intelligence by working with task workers.
While not as large as some of the other sites on this list, it still provides microtask gig opportunities and pays you with PayPal cash.
Neevo currently pays through PayPal but is working on other payment methods. And you can cash out your Neevo earnings once you reach $3.
Payment typically takes two weeks after a task is completed, but can occasionally take longer, so keep this in mind.
15. Respondent
Respondent is a recruitment platform that connects researchers with participants to help researchers with their studies. And as a research participant, you can earn $100 to $200 or more for taking part in various studies.
The reason hourly rates are so high is because many respondent studies are seeking specific feedback from certain demographics. For example, one study might just be for plumbers, while another could be targeting executives or people working in marketing.
This rate means that Respondent pays much more than Remotasks. However, it's difficult to find consistent work, which is the platform's downside.
But if you like these types of research gigs, you can also check out Prolific Surveys and Pinecone research for even more opportunities.
16. TranscribeMe
One final job like Remotasks you can use is TranscribeMe , a leading transcription job website .
If you have accurate typing skills, TranscribeMe could be a good fit for you as a microtask website. This transcription service has gig workers provide audio and video transcriptions, and you get paid per audio hour you complete .
While no minimum typing speed is required, if you're able to type quickly and accurately, you could make money doing transcription.
New transcribers with TranscribeMe average $15 in USD per one hour of audio. The term audio hour refers to the length of the audio and not the amount of time spent on the project. Different projects and teams may pay higher rates.
Also note that TranscribeMe pays workers with PayPal at this time. You can also consider rev.com if you like this sort of work.

Tips For Using Remotasks Alternatives
Now that you know some of the top sites like Remotasks, I want to share some tips that I've found helpful to earn more money online over the years:
- Set An Income Goal : How much do you want to make with this side gig? Setting a daily or weekly income goal can help you stay consistent and on track.
- Use Several Websites : Using several websites helps you pick the highest-paying offers and make more money. So, test out Branded Surveys , Clickworker, and the other options on this list to see what works for you.
- Set Some Expectations : Microtask sites like Remotasks can't replace a full-time income for most people. Use these sites to make $20 a day or something similar, but don't expect to earn thousands.

Final Thoughts
I hope my list of the best sites like Remotasks helps you boost your income with a variety of flexible side hustles.
If youâre looking to make money online, but donât have a lot of time, microtask sites could be exactly what youâre looking for. These freelance gigs are jobs you can do at home, and you can plan it around your schedule.
However, like many side hustles, microtask websites don't always have steady work, so it can be prudent to be a member of more than one website to have maximum opportunities.
Ultimately, I think these websites are legit ways to earn money with your laptop while you take it easy at home.

Also known as micro-tasks or micro gigs, micro jobs are small, temporary pieces of work involving a variety of different responsibilities and requirements. These jobs are often distributed through a website or app to be completed by independent contractors.
Task Types and Examples
- Labeling objects in photos
- Transcribing audio
- Moderating social media content
- Evaluating search engine results
- Testing websites or apps
- Filling surveys; and much more.
- Confirming a store's opening and closing hours
- Mystery shopping
- Dog walking
- Babysitting
- Handyman tasks (e.g. building furniture)
- Cleaning; and much more.
Also known as microtasking sites, micro job sites are the middlemen between those who have small jobs that need to be completed (i.e. researchers, companies, etc.) and those who want to complete small jobs for money (i.e. taskers or micro workers).
Micro job sites work as marketplaces; they facilitate the connection between buyers (i.e. those who have jobs that need doing) and sellers (i.e. those who want to complete jobs for money). They also handle all payments to make the experience as smooth as possible for both parties.
Here's a very simplified diagram to show the process:
In order to be sustainable and make money in the process, most micro job sites charge a small service fee to the buyers/employers for helping them outsource their tasks. Some sites also charge a withdrawal fee to workers as another income source, but this isn't as common.
A Note on Microtasking:
Microtasking (aka microwork or crowdsourced work) is the process of splitting one big job into many smaller jobs for multiple people to work on. This is often seen with paid tasks like data entry, transcription, and AI training type work.
Are Micro Job Sites Legit and Safe?
Legitimacy and safety will vary between each individual site, but as a whole, legit micro job sites do exist. They're generally completely safe to use too.
That being said, scams are out there, and just like with anything online, it's important to stay cautious and do your due diligence to keep your personal information and devices secure.
How to Avoid Scams and Stay Safe
Never provide sensitive info like your SSN, passwords, or other personally identifiable information before thoroughly inspecting a site to ensure that its legit.
I've already inspected the sites below, but if you're planning on trying a site not mentioned, be on the lookout for obvious red flags like:
- The site is brand new – This doesnât mean the site is instantly a scam, but it does mean you should be extra cautious.
- No business address is listed – Most legit companies will have an address listed somewhere on their site, whether in the footer, about page, privacy policy, or somewhere else.
- No T&C or Privacy Policy – A privacy policy is legally required on websites that collect personal info, so avoid any micro job sites without one. T&C pages aren't required, but most legit sites have them.
- Tons of spelling/grammar errors – Scam sites are notorious for this.
- You have to pay to join – Just avoid these. No micro job site should require workers to pay in order to join.
Related: For more info and tips, read my guide on how to spot and avoid survey and GPT scams . Most of the info applies to micro job sites as well.
In terms of pay-per-task, micro jobs can pay anywhere from $0.01 per task all the way to $50+ per task. In terms of hourly rates, based on the data from micro job site reviews and talking to real micro workers, expect as low as $1-$2/hour, all the way up to $50+/hour.
Here are some things that will affect your earning potential:
- The micro job site youâre completing tasks on – Some sites pay better wages than others or offer higher-paying tasks. I'll breakdown the earning potential of each individual site below.
- The type of micro tasks youâre completing – Pay ranges can vary a ton between different micro tasks and small jobs depending on their length, the skill level required for them, how much the requester is willing to pay, and other factors.
- Your demographics – This is out of your control, but it is something that will affect which tasks you can work on.
- Your speed and efficiency in completing tasks – A lot of microwork is very repetitive and requires doing the same things over and over again. The more efficient you can be, the better your hourly rates.
Bottom line?
While a select few have managed to earn a full-time income with micro jobs, Iâd recommend treating this as more of a side hustle since the work and wages can be so inconsistent.
Stay tuned for tips on how to increase your earnings and efficiency.
- Work on your own schedule – Most micro job sites allow you to set your own hours or simply pick up paid tasks whenever you're available. Because a lot of tasks are extremely short, there's also not a lot of time commitment needed.
- Work from home (or anywhere with the internet) – In-person micro jobs are available and can be a great option for earning money, but many microtasks are done completely online.
- Good variety of work – There really is something for everyone when it comes to micro work.
- Lots of work available – New micro jobs are created and uploaded to different micro job sites every single day.
- No expertise required (mostly) – The majority of the micro jobs don't require any special qualifications. It's pretty easy money .
- Can help build skills – As you complete micro tasks youâll get better at things like research, working independently, and much more due to the great variety of work available.
- Low pay – Overall, most micro tasks don't pay very much. This isn't always the case (e.g. some TaskRabbit taskers make thousands per month) but with most tasks, don't expect to earn job-replacing income.
- Inconsistent income – As mentioned above, the rates for individual micro jobs and tasks can vary greatly, resulting in unpredictable hourly earnings.
- Sporadic work – This doesn't apply to all micro job sites, but some of them can go days or even weeks without uploading new tasks. (This is why it's a good idea to join multiple sites — more tips below)
- Good jobs go fast – Some micro job sites are extremely competitive due to the volume of workers on the platform. When a high-paying job (or batch of jobs) is uploaded, don't be surprised to see it get snagged up almost instantly.
- Potentially overwhelming or confusing work – Not all micro jobs / sites offer the best guidance or training.
- No benefits – This is pretty obvious, but worth mentioning. No independent contractor position (that I know of) is going to pay any type of benefits.
After many hours of research, these are what I found to be the best task websites for finding a wide range of paid micro-jobs. I tried to include a variety of microwork opportunities, websites, and apps, so there should be something for everyone!
Note: Iâll be updating and adding new micro job sites to this list over time. Feel free to bookmark this article, share it, or subscribe to my weekly newsletter to be the first to know about any updates.

Mechanical Turk is one of the most well-known and widely used microtasking sites in the world, with thousands of clients (aka requesters) and workers (aka turkers) using it every day.
The microwork you'll find here is exclusively online tasks, involving literally anything a requester can think of. Don't be surprised if you're a bit overwhelmed when you first sign up.
That said, if you want to start off strong, be sure to read my MTurk earning guide , which was written with the help of a user whoâs earned over $60k completing short tasks on the platform. There are many good tips and info there.

Clickworker is another one of the most well-known micro job sites on this list, with over 2 million workers worldwide. The tasks here are similar to what MTurk offers, with a large focus on AI training. Clickworker also has a popular micro jobs app that's worth checking out.
3. UHRS
- Earning potential: $5-$6/hour. Varies greatly based on your skill set and the work available.
- Work volume: Low-Medium.
- Ways to earn: Online micro jobs like data collection, categorization, sentiment analysis, web research, search relevance, and more.
- Payout options: Depends on which site you gain access with.
- Minimum payout: Depends on which site you gain access with.
- Payment speed: Depends on which site you gain access with.
- Sign up bonus: None.
- Learn more: Clickworker UHRS review and guide .
UHRS stands for Universal Human Relevance System and itâs a micro-tasking site/portal that you can only access through certain other micro job sites, including Clickworker , Teemwork, OneForma , and Appen ( source ).
Hereâs a guide on how to access UHRS through Clickworker (easiest way).
Whichever site you use to gain access to the UHRS will also handle your payments from the UHRS, so keep that in mind.
While this all might sound overly complicated, itâs worth taking the time to join the platform as itâs one of the best paying micro job sites out there. With some practice and efficiency, you can earn $8-$9/hour or more.
4. Remotasks
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older in the supported countries.
- Earning potential: $2-$20/hour.
- Work volume: Medium-High. You can receive more paid tasks by completing training courses.
- Ways to earn: Categorization, text highlighting, audio transcription, image and video annotation, AI training, and more.
- Payout options: PayPal, Airtm, Payoneer
- Minimum payout: None
- Payment speed: Payments are weekly
- Learn more: Remotasks Reviews and Overview
Remotasks has one of the nicest websites in the micro job space. They also offer some unique tasks like LiDAR annotation (the tech used in self driving cars) and other AI training jobs. Unfortunately, their hourly rates are pretty low, especially considering how complex some of their microtasks are.
5. Teemwork.ai
- Earning potential: $10-$16/hour. (sources: 1 , 2 )
- Ways to earn: Search & ads relevance, transcription, annotation, search engine evaluation, research, audio data collection, and more.
- Payout options: Payoneer.
- Minimum payout: $0.01.
- Payment speed: Monthly.
- Sign up bonus: None. Apply here .

Teemwork is sort of like a job board for micro jobs, similar to Appen (below). They have a wide range of jobs available at any time, spread across multiple different countries.
For micro tasks, look out for the âOnline Crowd Workerâ job which is available in multiple locations. This role — similar to the other sites on this list — involves a variety of online paid tasks related to search engines, transcription, annotation, and more.
For more specific and sometimes longer-term projects, you can apply to their transcription jobs, ad evaluator jobs, data collection jobs, and more.
Tip: Apply for Teemwork sooner rather than later. They sometimes take a while to respond to new applications.
6. Neevo.ai
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older in a country with access to PayPal.
- Earning potential: $5-$10/hour. ( source )
- Ways to earn: Language assessment, image annotation, audio recording, keyword research, and more.
- Payout options: PayPal.
- Payment speed: 2 weeks after job completion.
- Sign up bonus: None. Sign up here .
Neevo , like many other micro job sites on this list, is focused on improving artificial intelligence. Most of the paid tasks youâll be doing on this platform contributing to training AI programs and software. For example, if you complete a job that asks you to take selfies while making certain faces, youâre most likely training a facial recognition AI.
Keep in mind, Neevo is still pretty new so you might not find a ton of work available here. Still, it's worth checking out.
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older in a country with access to Payoneer.
- Earning potential: $4-$15+/hour.
- Ways to earn: Surveys, data collection, data annotation, transcription, translation, social media evaluation, search engine evaluation, web research.
- Payout options: Payoneer
- Minimum payout: $5.
- Payment speed: Within 30 days.
- Learn more: Appen Reviews and Overview
Appen contributors can make money working on projects and microtasks related to content moderation, data collection, data labeling, translation, transcription, search engine evaluation, and more. After accumulating $5, earnings can be cashed out via Payoneer.
8. Yandex Toloka
- Earning potential: $3-$5/hour.
- Ways to earn: Research, evaluation, side by side comparisons, field surveys, and more.
- Payout options: PayPal, Skrill, Papara, Payoneer.
- Minimum payout: $0.02 via PayPal, $1 via Skrill, $0.50 via Papara, $20 via Payoneer.
- Learn more: Toloka review coming soon.
Toloka is very similar to micro job sites like Clickworker, MTurk, and Remotasks. One great feature that sets them apart though is that they have a skill/rating system. As you complete tasks, if you do a good job, your skill level will increase.
A higher skill level and rating can mean more money for each similar task completed in the future, and more micro jobs coming your way. Keep in mind, this works both ways; submitting low quality work will lower your rating and result in fewer (and lower paying) jobs.
9. Lionbridge
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older. Many countries have jobs available.
- Earning potential: $10-$20+/hour.
- Work volume: Medium. Some Lionbridge micro jobs are short, one-off jobs that last 30 minutes to a few hours. Others are more long-term and offer up to 20-30 hours/week worth of work.
- Ways to earn: Search engine evaluation, internet assessment, studies, ad assessment, speech generation, data analyzation, content evaluation, and more.
- Payout options: Direct deposit.
- Minimum payout: $20.
- Payment speed: Monthly, within 45 days ( source )
- Sign up bonus: None. View all available jobs here | View AI jobs here .
- Learn more: Lionbridge review coming soon.
Founded in 1996, Lionbridge (previously The Smart Crowd) is one of the oldest and largest micro job sites in the world. They have over one million crowdworkers in their community completing micro work for huge companies like Google and Microsoft.
Some of the micro jobs on Lionbridge (specifically the longer-term, part-time contractor projects) do have a pretty extensive application process, but if you take the time and end up getting hired on, you'll have a nice consistent flow of well-paid work.
10. OneForma
As mentioned above, OneForma can be used to access UHRS, a separate microtasking platform. However, it also hosts in own collection of different microjobs, with many being AI related.
You can find work related to: transcription, writing, search engine evaluation, data collection, data labeling, and much more here.

11. Prolific
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older in AT, AU, BE, CA, CH, CL, CZ, DE, DK, EE, ES, FI, FR, GB, GR, HU, IE, IL, IS, IT, JP, KR, LU, LV, MX, NL, NO, NZ, PL, PT, SE, SI, or the US.
- Earning potential: $6.50/hour.
- Work volume: 1-3 paid studies a day (will vary greatly based on demographics and other factors).
- Ways to earn: Desktop surveys, mobile surveys, tablet surveys.
- Minimum payout: ÂŁ5.
- Payment speed: Cash outs are on Tuesday and Friday afternoon (GMT), but after 5 cash outs the payment is instantaneous.
- Learn more: Prolific Reviews
Prolific is probably the best paid survey site in the world. For all of their paid studies, they enforce a minimum hourly rate of $6.50 USD. So for example, a 10-minute Prolific study has to pay at least ~$1.09 to meet the $6.50/hour rule.

- Ways to earn: Surveys, watching videos, searching the web, playing games, completing offers, referrals, and more.
- Payout options: Paypal, gift cards, charity donations, sweepstakes.
- Payment speed: Up to 14 business days.
- Sign up bonus: $5. Sign up here .
- Learn more: Swagbucks review and earning guide .
Swagbucks is one of the most well-known and popular GPT (Get Paid To) sites , founded all the way back in 2008. GPT sites in general offer many different types of paid tasks, and Swagbucks is no different. You can make money doing all sorts of things here.
Related: For more micro job sites like Swagbucks + tips on how to earn with them, check out my full guide to GPT sites .
13. Respondent.io
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older worldwide.
- Earning potential: $50/hour.
- Work volume: Low. Thereâs a steady number of paid studies posted to Respondent, but qualification rates are pretty low for them.
- Ways to earn: Paid online and in-person research interviews.
- Payout options: Paypal.
- Payment speed: Up to 10 business days.
- Learn more: Respondent review coming soon.
Respondent is a very popular site for finding paid focus groups. If youâre not familiar with focus groups, theyâre like paid surveys but with fewer participants. Thatâs why they pay so much more (but are also harder to qualify for).
The type of studies available on Respondent vary quite a bit. Most of them involve interviews (e.g. companies or researchers looking to interview specific people), but Iâve also seen some pretty unique micro jobs on Respondent, like one I saw recently for testing earphones (they were actually going to send the earphones out to qualified participants).
14. User Interviews
- Earning potential: $20/hour all the way to $250+/hour.
- Work volume: Low. Similar to Respondent, qualifying for studies on User Interviews can be difficult. This will vary based on your demographics.
- Ways to earn: Online and in-person paid research studies, app/website testing.
- Payout options: Paypal, Amazon gift card.
- Payment speed: Within 10 business days.
- Learn more: Here
User Interviews is another popular site for finding paid research studies, both in-person and online. The paid tasks available here are very similar to what you'd find on Respondent.
That said, other than the general user interview studies, some unique micro jobs Iâve seen on User Interviews include product testing and app/website testing. Speaking of…
15. UserTesting
- Earning potential: $12-$30/hour. Will vary based on how often you qualify for tests and the length of the tests youâre completing.
- Work volume: Low. On a good month you might qualify for 3-5 paid tests, give or take.
- Ways to earn: App testing, website testing, live conversation testing.
- Payment speed: 7 days.
- Learn more: UserTesting.com review and guide .
UserTesting is one of the best micro job sites around for paid website and app testing jobs . The work is really simple too; thereâs no coding or technical knowledge required, all you have to do is use a website or app while following some instructions and speaking your thoughts aloud (youâll need a microphone).
Depending on the type of test youâre doing, youâll typically earn $10 for 10-20 minutes of work, or $30-$60 for 30 minutes-1 hour of work. However, youâll need to spend a minute or two filling out pre-qualifiers, and you wonât qualify for every test, so that can lower your hourly rate.
Related: For more micro jobs like this, check out my guide to website and app testing jobs .
16. TaskRabbit
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older in the US or Canada (specific cities only) with a smartphone (taskers are required to download the TaskRabbit tasker app).
- Earning potential: $15/hour avg. Some TaskRabbit users charge $100+/hour for certain jobs ( source ).
- Work volume: Will vary based on your skill set and service area.
- Ways to earn: Babyproofing, painting, moving help, home repairs, equipment installation, laundry help, dog walking, furniture building, sewing, organization, waiting (in line, for packages, etc.), and much more .
- Minimum payout: $0.01.
- Payment speed: Within 8 days of a completed job.
- Learn more: TaskRabbit review and guide coming soon. Subscribe for updates .
TaskRabbit is much different than the other micro job sites on this list. Instead of online micro tasks, TaskRabbit focuses solely on in-person micro jobs of all kinds. These are often referred to as odd jobs.
Keep in mind, because work on TaskRabbit is done in person, the application process requires you to consent to an ID check. The work is also much more involved.
But, seeing as some taskers are earning $50-$100/hour or more with the âsmall jobsâ found on this platform, it's well worth the effort. Some say competition is lower as well due to this not being a work-from-home platform.
- Who can join: Anyone in the world 13 years or older (under 18 requires parental approval).
- Earning potential: Fiverr allows you to set your own prices so this will vary based on the service youâre providing, your skills, and your speed.
- Ways to earn: Writing, photography, graphic design, SEO, and any other online services you can think of providing.
- Payout options: PayPal, Fiverr Revenue Card (FRC), bank transfer, direct deposit (for U.S. users).
- Minimum payout: $1 for PayPal, $30 for FRC, $20 for bank transfer, $10 for DD.
- Payment speed: 2 weeks.
- Learn more: Fiverr Platform Overview, Reviews, and Statistics
Fiverr is easily the most popular freelance micro-tasking site in the world. It made its name (literally) by creating a marketplace for $5 micro jobs (hence the name Five rr).
Whatâs really nice about this platform is how open it is. Anyone in the world as young as 13 years old can sign up, create a gig, and start making money. (Because of the low age limit, this is probably the best micro job site for teens to make money with.)
Keep in mind, you're not limited to just $5 gigs anymore on Fiverr. You can price your services however you like. Fiverr takes a 20% fee on all sales (eg. if you make $100, they take $20).
18. Scribie
- Who can join: Anyone in the world with access to PayPal.
- Earning potential: $1-$6.25/hour.
- Work volume: Medium. There are usually always jobs available on Scribie.
- Ways to earn: Transcription.
- Minimum payout: $0.01 (withdrawals over $30 are free, under have a 2% fee).
- Payment speed: 8-10 hours.
- Learn more: Scribie review and guide coming soon. Subscribe for updates .
Scribie has perfected microworking in the transcription industry. They split their jobs into 6 minute audio files for multiple transcribers to work on, and then put all the transcriptions together at the end for a completed file.
I tested out Scribie in my case study on how to make money transcribing as a beginner , and within a week (about 4 hours of total work), I earned $1.31. Part of that time was spent applying for the gig, but still, the rates here are pretty sad.
How much youâll earn will depend on your transcription skills and typing speed, but donât expect much. Treat Scribie as more of a training ground for trying out — and improving — your transcription skills. (PS: If you want to learn more about transcription, hereâs a free mini course ).

19. Fancy Hands
- Who can join: Anyone in the US 18 years or older.
- Earning potential: $2-$5/hour.
- Work volume: Medium-High. Will vary based on the time and day.
- Ways to earn: Making phone calls, scheduling appointments, web research, data entry, and more.
- Payout options: Dwolla.
- Payment speed: Bi-weekly (every Tuesday)
- Learn more: Review and guide coming soon. Subscribe for updates .
Fancy Hands is a platform that people and businesses can use to outsource micro jobs to virtual assistants. As a worker, youâll find all sorts of paid online tasks here, including more personal ones like calling to make an appointment for someone or researching recipes for someone's meal plan.
20. Picoworkers
- Who can join: Anyone in the world.
- Work volume: Medium-High. New jobs are posted quite often, but this will vary based on the time and day and your location.
- Ways to earn: Surveys, image categorization, content promotion, website testing, data entry, paid sign ups, and more.
- Payout options: Litecoin, PayPal, Skrill.
- Minimum payout: $5.75.
- Payment speed: Within 10 business days.
Picoworkers can offer small gigs of all kinds, but most of the microtasking jobs Iâve seen here involve signing up for free websites, completing surveys, and engaging with videos or posts on social media platforms.
Unfortunately, the pay here is really low (cents per task), and Picoworkers charges a 7% fee for payouts, which is awful. But, they do offer crypto payments (which most or none of the other micro job sites on this list offer), and many of their tasks are available worldwide, so it's not all bad.
21. Humanatic
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older with access to PayPal.
- Earning potential: $1-$4.50/hour.
- Work volume: Low. Varies daily, most work comes in between 7am-7pm EST.
- Ways to earn: Reviewing recorded phone calls.
- Payout options: PayPal
- Minimum payout: $10.
- Payment speed: Weekly.
Humanaticâs micro jobs involve listening to and reviewing recorded phone calls to help companies improve their communication with customers and clients. Iâve heard a lot of complaints about this site paying very low wages, but it's a unique opportunity so I figured I'd include it.
22. Field Agent
- Who can join: Anyone 18 years or older in the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, Mexico, South Africa, Ecuador, or Spain.
- Earning potential: $3-$12/task.
- Work volume: Low. Varies daily based on your location.
- Ways to earn: Surveys, store audits, mystery shopping, product testing.
- Payout options: PayPal, direct deposit, Interac e-Transfer, Dwolla.
- Minimum payout: $15. Cashouts under $75 include a $1 fee.
Field Agent is one of the most popular small job apps for on-the-go, in-person micro jobs. They also offer occasional surveys that you can do from home.
Most of the tasks on Field Agent involve going out to stores to do mystery shops and store audits, which involve things like taking photos of certain products or product displays, checking prices, answering questions, and more. You might also get jobs that involve purchasing, testing, and giving feedback on different food and drinks, which is pretty fun.
- Who can join: Any native English speaker 18 years or older with access to PayPal.
- Earning potential: $10.20-$12/hour.
- Work volume: Low-Medium. Will vary based on the day of the week and time. ( source )
- Ways to earn: Chatting with others in English.
- Payment speed: Weekly (every Monday).
Cambly is a really cool English tutoring opportunity with no formal qualifications or certifications required. All you need to become a paid tutor on the platform is to be a native English speaker.
As a Cambly tutor, you get paid (by the minute) to have conversations with people who are trying to learn/improve their English. It's a pretty unique microworking opportunity for anyone who likes to talk!
Related: For opportunities similar to Cambly, check out my guide on the top tutoring jobs for teachers and college students .
24. 2Captcha
2Captcha offers paid captcha solving tasks. These are extremely low-paying, but an interesting opportunity nonetheless. The types of captchas you'll solve on here include almost all varieties.
Related: For similar opportunities, check out our guide to captcha entry jobs .
25. RapidWorkers
RapidWorkers is a microtasking site that used to be pretty well known and active, but it does seem to have become quite unmaintained these days. That said, there are still tasks posted on the platform, ranging from content engagement tasks (e.g. liking YouTube videos or social media posts), signing up for new services, writing reviews, etc.
Here are 10 quick tips to help you increase your earnings, efficiency, and overall success with micro jobs:
1. Join Multiple Micro Job Sites
As I mentioned above, some micro job sites upload tasks very sporadically. If youâre experiencing a lot of downtime and task shortages, add another site to your roster. There are no rules against working on multiple sites at a time!
2. Visit Your Sites Regularly
Along with joining multiple sites, donât fret if some sites have little or no paid tasks available. Be sure to check back regularly (especially during the weekdays) as new tasks and small jobs are added all the time.
3. Fill Your Profile Fully and Keep It Updated
Another reason you might not see many (or any) micro jobs on a particular site is because your profile isnât filled out fully or itâs outdated. Some microtasking sites use the info in your profile to send you relevant gigs, so be sure to keep things up to date with your accurate information and skills.
4. Track Your Income and Completed Micro Tasks
Tracking all of the income you receive from your micro jobs is a good idea just for tax purposes. But, it can also help you spot which tasks and sites pay you the most per hour.
Yes, itâs a hassle, but itâs a worthwhile one. To make things easier, feel free to use my premade âget paid toâ income tracker . Itâs pretty straightforward and should include everything you need.
Over time, as you track your earnings from different sites, youâll be able to check the tracker to see which sites and tasks are paying you the best hourly rates. Use this data to your advantage!
5. Figure Out the Busy Times
As mentioned above, many micro job sites upload the majority of their tasks during the weekdays, Monday-Friday, during regular business hours. This wonât be consistent across all sites though, and it can vary based on your demographics, so be sure to look out for different patterns too.
You can also track which individual job requesters pay you the best rates and when they most often post their jobs.
6. Use Tools and Strategies to Increase Your Efficiency
The best tools and strategies will depend on the type of tasks youâre doing, but you should always be thinking of ways to work more efficiently. Since micro work often pays by the task rather than by the hour, every minute counts.
Here are some examples of smart strategies and tool usage:
- Turkers on Mturk will often use scripts that make it easier to find and claim the best tasks. Read my MTurk guide to learn more about which scripts you should be using. (Be careful with other sites though, some of them forbid the use of scripts/automation.)
- For online micro tasks, think about getting a second monitor if possible. Youâll be surprised at how much more efficient you can be with two screens vs. one.
- Another one for online tasks: get used to using keyboard hotkeys. They may not seem like much, but over time, they can increase your hourly earnings quite a bit.
- For in-person tasks like Field Agent mystery shops, try to plan out your routes to hit multiple gigs. Less gas, time, and wear and tear on your car + more money.
You get the point. In every situation, I can almost guarantee you there will be a few ways to increase your job efficiency. Work smart AND hard, not just hard.
7. Work on Gaining New Qualifications and Skills
Youâll notice overtime that some of the crowdsourcing jobs youâll find on sites like MTurk, Clickworker, UHRS, and others are âlockedâ behind qualifications. You can gain these qualifications by completing certain tasks or training programs, and itâs often well worth it as the tasks that are locked behind these qualifications usually pay more and have fewer taskers working on them.
8. Read the Task Instructions
Many micro jobs will have specific instructions that, if not followed, will result in you either not getting paid, or worse, getting suspended/banned from the platform youâre using. Make sure you understand a task before you start working on it, or youâll risk making mistakes.
9. Always Provide High Quality Work
Similarly to not reading instructions, submitting low quality work will put you on a fast track to no-more-tasks town. Remember, youâre working for real clients and they expect a certain level of quality. By meeting those expectations, youâll increase your chances of receiving more work and higher pay.
10. Donât Get Overwhelmed
Some micro job sites can be extremely overwhelming at first. Thatâs normal. Donât expect to become a master microtasker overnight. Take it slow and give yourself 1-2 weeks (at the least) of testing different sites and tasks before you decide whether to continue on or not.
I could easily make the list of micro job sites above a mile long, but that would just end up being super overwhelming and repetitive.
Truth is, there are a ton of different sites and apps out there for finding different small jobs and paid micro tasks, and some of them are in categories of their own.
Check out these guides to learn more:
- Top Paid Survey Sites – Similar to Prolific (above).
- Best GPT Sites (Get Paid To Sites) – Similar to Swagbucks (above).
- Get Paid to Test Websites and Apps – Similar to UserTesting (above).
- Transcription Jobs – Similar to Scribie (above).
- Online Tutoring for Teachers and College Students – Similar to Cambly (above).
- Captcha Entry Jobs – Similar to 2Captcha (above)
For more money-making ideas you can do in your free time, check all these ways to make extra money online and offline .
With the introduction of micro job sites, almost anyone can now get paid to do small tasks both online and offline, often in as little as a few minutes.
On top of that, people and businesses can use task sites to outsource all sorts of jobs that they donât want — or donât have time — to do themselves.
Sure, the platforms arenât perfect, and micro jobs donât always pay the best rates, but overall, if youâre looking for a weekend job , microtasking is an easy side hustle to pick up.
Let me know: Have you used any micro job sites before? What do you think of completing micro tasks for cash?

Hi Dylan, Thanks so much for the information you’ve given on these online jobs. I applied at Appen, received an email that I qualified for a project, didn’t say which one, didn’t say how much it pays or how long the project was. Gave me a link to a number of contracts to sign electronically. Is this their normal way of doing business. If I sign all these contracts, will I then be told all the information I would need to accept a project?
November 23, 2022 at 12:26 pm
Hey, as long as the contracts are legitimate and coming from Appen, yes, you’ll need to sign them in order to get started with the project you’re applying to. Make sure to read them clearly so you know what you’re getting into.

Hi Dylan, I read every word of the article and I came to a conclusion, AMAZING article, although I already know almost all the platforms, there was only one I didn’t know, userinterviews.com. I work as a web programmer and entrepreneur and when you can I would like you to analyze the proposal to create a business partnership in this area of platforms to work online from home because to get an idea of the EXHAUSTIVE research I did there are hundreds of websites I found, being who would like to create something just with the TOP100 companies evaluated, with real proof of payment and divided into several areas, and each person would have access to them initially for free and then for a fee if they wanted to have access to all the information private, with weekly updates. The questions I want to ask are the following: 1- What is your opinion about the exhaustive list I created and what is the best way to monetize it? 2- Are you interested in starting a project for two, with no rush on both sides, in a first phase for free and can be supported by crowdfunding, to make known to the community ONLY the TOP100 companies evaluated, with proof of real payment and divided by many areas?
Best regards. Hug.

Hi Ricardo, thanks for the kind words. I’m a bit confused at what you’re proposing here, but have you checked out my platform discovery tool ? Sounds similar to what you might be talking about here! I’m still working on adding a lot of different platforms to it.

Thanks a lot for this listing, it is very interesting! I confirm, I have some doubts on Picoworkersâ reliability. However, there is another website that you can add to the list: Latium https://latium.org/welcome?welcome_id=72AXZOxg The advantages : you have some « instant hiring » tasks, you can be paid in cryptos, and there is a verification process which makes the site reliable !
March 31, 2022 at 3:27 pm
Latium looks interesting Maya, thanks for sharing. Is there a pretty steady stream of work available there from your experience?

14 Best Micro Jobs Sites for Making Money Fast
R.J. Weiss, CFPÂź
- Updated July 06, 2024
Thereâs a near endless list of ways to make money online. Many people go for longer-term, higher-paying gigs, such as freelancing or starting an online store, but thereâs still room for you in the gig economy even if you donât want to start an online business.
Multiple platforms offer the ability to complete small tasks on your own schedule that take as little as a few seconds each. These are known as microtasking or micro job sites.
This article highlights several of the most popular micro jobs sites and discusses the type of compensation you can expect for your time.
Table of Contents
What Are Micro Jobs?
Micro jobs are small, short-term gigs that involve completing a specific task. Most of the time, these tasks are part of a larger project that was split up and distributed over the internet, effectively crowdsourcing workers.
In some cases, youâre handling these tasks for businesses that donât have time for them. However, many micro job sites are run by companies in the field of artificial intelligence; in such cases, the tasks you complete help train AI.
Micro jobs generally take between a few seconds to no more than 20 minutes, and you often donât need any experience, skills or training to do them.
Some common micro jobs include:
- Answering simple questions.
- Categorizing information.
- Checking address data.
- Data entry and verification.
- Tagging people, places or objects in images.
- Transcribing audio.
- Website testing.
- Writing short bits of content.
How Much Do Micro Jobs Pay?
Micro job pay varies depending on the site you work for and the type of task you complete. But no matter which platform you choose, understand one thing at the outset: you wonât make a lot of money doing micro work. Youâll earn a few dollars per hour at most.
For example, when New York Times writer Andy Newman tried his hand at micro jobs on Amazonâs Mechanical Turk, the biggest micro job site, he reported averaging just 97 cents per hour .
Granted, some sites pay more than others â and itâs even possible to do better than that on Mechanical Turk, once youâve racked up experience and qualified yourself for better jobs (the site uses a tiered ranking system). Additionally, some sites will increase your pay the longer you continue doing micro jobs for them.
So while the work is easy and can be done in short bursts whenever you have time, the plain fact of the matter is that micro work isnât good for much beyond putting a few bucks of spending money in your pocket. There are plenty of side hustles out there where you can earn much more for your time.
But if youâre looking for ways to make some spare change in your free time, without much stress or commitment, then these options can help you do so.
The Best Micro Job Sites
The online micro job space has exploded in recent years, leaving you with plenty of options. Here are some of the best micro job sites if youâre considering diving into this world.
Our rankings are based on a combination of the following factors:
- How much work is available on the platform.
- Ease of signing up and claiming tasks.
- User interface.
- Reputation among users.
And as a reminder, we’re defining micro jobs as: jobs that take no more than 20 minutes; require no specialized education, training or skills; and can be completed at any time from any place.
Appen workers complete tasks to help train artificial intelligence to perform various functions for use in several industries. Examples of micro jobs available on Appen include moderating content, categorizing social media posts, transcribing audio and drawing boxes on images. The company also offers longer-term and data collection projects.
#2. Clickworker
Clickworker freelancers complete tasks that train artificial intelligence to recognize objects in images and to interact with humans. On Clickworker, you might create sections of text, categorize data, proofread/copy edit text, perform basic research, snap photos, record audio or video and take surveys. Clickworkers can also mystery shop and test apps. Payments are made weekly or monthly via PayPal.
#3. Mechanical Turk
Mechanical Turk , which is owned and operated by Amazon, crowdsources micro work to help businesses outsource numerous small tasks. Mechanical Turk workers may assist with processing images and videos, processing and cleaning up data, gathering information for companies, taking paid online surveys and more.
Neevo sources micro workers to do work that helps train artificial intelligence to perform various manual tasks. Neevo workers may tag images with the correct labels, annotate text, or even read text and convert it into audio by recording themselves. Freelancers can take tests to gain access to more jobs.
#5. Hive Micro
With Hive Micro , workers may categorize objects, track objects across video frames and transcribe audio, among other tasks. Harder tasks pay more, but workers must complete a test before each task. Youâre paid weekly via PayPal, although Hive Micro also lets you receive payment in Bitcoin.
#6. UserTesting.com
UserTesting pays you to test their clientsâ websites for usability and intuitiveness. Tests take 20 minutes on average, and testers can earn $10 per test, making it the best-paying opportunity on this list. Testers can also have live conversations with the business theyâre helping for about $1 per minute. However, you have to qualify for each opportunity based on a variety of factors (like your age and gender), and thereâs a limited number of testing opportunities available. When we tested the platform, we applied for 46 tests and got approved for none of them.
#7. TriMyUI
TriMyUI is another site where you can sign up to test websites for usability and intuitiveness and get paid for it. As with UserTesting, you record your voice and screen while performing the test, then answer some written questions after. Payment is sent out via PayPal every Friday.
#8. Scribie
Scribie is a micro work site focused on audio transcription services. Scribie workers can earn $5 to $25 per audio hour transcribing, plus a monthly bonus of $5 per three hours of audio transcribed. All of the platformâs audio files are 10 minutes or shorter. Scribie also generates an automated transcript to make the work easier. There are no commitments regarding time or hours, and you can transfer your earnings to PayPal at any time.
Other options : see our list of the best online transcription job sites .
#9. Slice The Pie
Slice The Pie is a micro job site that pays you to write short reviews and share your opinion. You can earn more per review as you continue using the platform and write more helpful reviews.
#10. MicroWorkers
MicroWorkers offers access to a wide variety of tasks that businesses need someone to complete. Each task you finish raises your âSuccess Rate,â giving you access to more jobs and earning opportunities. You can also participate in group jobs, where one company will hire you and several other micro workers for a larger task.
#11. Picoworkers
Picoworkers connects business owners with micro workers to help with small jobs. Some tasks you complete as a worker on the platform include writing reviews for a business, taking surveys, testing apps, and writing short articles. You get paid in your choice of cash or crypto the moment you deliver your work to your client.
#12. RemoTasks

RemoTask workers who gain enough experience on the platform can become trusted reviewers and increase their earnings. You can also take exams to expand your work opportunities on the platform.

Toloka is a micro job website that primarily offers work related to data. Tasks include annotating photos, confirming certain data, labeling data, categorizing information and moderating content. You can withdraw your earnings once a week with as little as 2 cents, depending on withdrawal method, or more than once a week with a $1 minimum.
#14. OneSpace
OneSpace is tailored more towards freelance professional services, but there are plenty of micro work opportunities on the platform. However, you must apply to OneSpace job openings to be considered for jobs, as opposed to other platforms where you can claim tasks without prior approval. You can also submit an application ahead of time detailing your skills and OneSpace will let you know if relevant opportunities come up.

The sites below offer similar (or better) earning potential than micro task platforms.

- GigWalk : Pays you to do small, location-based tasks â typically involving retail stores. Most tasks involve verifying availability, conditions and pricing of products. For many tasks, you simply snap a photo and upload it into the mobile iOS or Android app. We ranked this as one of the best apps that pay you to walk .
- TaskRabbit : Perform all kinds of chores, errands and small gigs for people in exchange for cash. Some potential tasks include yard work, helping someone move heavy items, doing someoneâs shopping and assisting someone with assembling furniture.
Some of the above sites make surveys their primary focus. Check out our list of the best survey sites if youâre interested in learning more ways to get paid by sharing your opinion.
Freelance Sites With Micro Jobs
These sites connect freelancers with clients that need services. While they tend to cater to clients with larger projects, there are plenty of micro task opportunities available as well.
- Fiverr : Earn money by completing pre-defined, one-off tasks in dozens of categories â from content writing to basic virtual assistant tasks.
- Upwork : A freelance marketplace with micro work available in various fields, including writing, editing/proofreading, data entry, formatting documents and more.
- People Per Hour : UK-based freelance marketplace focused on creative work. Both micro jobs and larger gigs are available on this platform.
- Envato Studio : Offers work centered around digital marketing and online creative work. Job categories include logo design, web and mobile app programming, video and animation, online marketing and more. You must either apply or receive an invite to join the platform.
- ProBlogger : A job board containing various types of freelance writing work, from blog articles to sales copy. Many tasks tend to be larger projects, but you can sometimes find micro writing work here.
Although you can perform micro jobs on these freelance sites, thatâs not the only kind of work available. Rather, you can do all sorts of gig economy jobs , from those micro tasks to full-on freelance work.
The Best Micro Job Sites: Final Thoughts
Micro jobs can be good if you have a few spare minutes and youâre in a location â such as public transit â where you canât easily work on more in-depth side jobs.
Outside of that, however, you simply wonât make all that much on an hourly basis. You are, after all, only completing one or two small gigs that are part of much larger projects.
So theyâre worth a shot if you have a few minutes to spare, but weâd recommend pursuing a side hustle idea that involves a bit more effort if youâre hoping to establish a serious side income, or these ways to make money from home if you need extra cash and have a little bit more time.

Good luck Tom. Let us know what you find works best.
Hi! Is Spare5 still working? I can’t access anymore đ
Thanks for the reply, Monica. It has been shut down (or maybe purchased?). Not much info out there.
Either way, the website gets redirected to a different URL. We have removed it from the list.
Good to see this post. But please be informed picoworkers is not owned by a good admin. There are thousands of complaint against this FRAUD guy who has no identity and this site is not from USA.
Thanks, Carlos.
Can you point us to the complaints? The site has a decent TrustPilot rating, a moderately active SubReddit Community ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Picoworkers/ ), and nothing stands out when I do a Google Search. That said, it seems like most users on the platform are outside of the U.S., as the hourly rate is quite low.
Thanks R.J. on my way to earning extra money from these side hustles.

11 Best Micro Job Sites to Earn Extra Cash (Legit & Free)
If you are looking for free and easy ways to earn some extra money online, there are plenty of microtasks you can do.
You can find these jobs on micro job sites, which offer temporary work or small tasks you can do from anywhere.
The question is, with so many micro job sites available, which ones should you join?
Without proper research, you can end up wasting a lot of time, as not all sites are worth it.
Thatâs why Iâve decided to create a list of the best micro job sites you can join, so all you have to do is follow it to find out which ones you should join. This is based on my own testing after having tested hundreds of different free ways to make money online.
It will save you a lot of time. Plus, you will be able to know exactly what to expect from a site before you even sign up. All the sites I will include in this guide are all legit and free to join . So, you can just register and start earning right away.
Disclosure: Some articles on this website contain affiliate/sponsored links. Click for more info .
How are the opportunities to earn on micro job sites?
As mentioned above, there are plenty of micro job sites available. Plus, these micro jobs sites have big clients, so there will always be a steady source of jobs you can do to earn. So, to answer the question, the opportunities are actually pretty good.
And the great thing is that most of these sites will allow you to join and earn no matter the country you are from, even though there can be some differences in the number of opportunities depending on your country.
The question now is that since there are many opportunities, how will you choose the right sites to join? To do that, you have to get a good idea about the earning potential of the different sites.
Ideally, you, of course, want to join a micro job site that not only offers plenty of opportunities but also pays well. You also want a site that offers a realistic payout threshold. When I say realistic, what I mean by that is something you can easily reach.
And lastly, you want sites that offer convenient payment methods.
All the sites I will include on the list below will have a good score in all the categories mentioned. Your job is to simply figure out which sites suit you the best.
How to earn the most?
To maximize your earnings from these sites, you have to choose the right earning opportunities and use as many of them as possible.
Exactly which opportunities are available differs from site to site, but on the list below, I will give you a quick overview of the jobs/tasks the different sites offer so you can easily find the ones that are the most interesting for you.
On the list, you can also find links to full reviews and tutorials of each of the platforms, so you can get in-depth info about exactly how to use each earning method for your chosen platforms.
Aside from taking full advantage of all the earning opportunities, another good way to maximize your earnings is to join around 5 to 7 sites . By doing so, you will gain access to more earning opportunities, which will naturally lead to more earnings.
But always remember, when you join these sites, the money you can earn will not be comparable to what you can from a full-time job. These sites arenât exactly a replacement for a day job. If you head in with that kind of expectation, you will just be disappointed.
That being said, you can still earn a decent amount of money by putting in a bit of effort and time regularly.
And it is something you can do no matter your background, and you can start earning already today.
11 top micro job sites
As Iâve mentioned earlier, this guideâs goal is to help you find the best micro job sites you can join.
So, I will only include sites that are really worth your time instead of listing as many sites as possible.
I will keep updating this list, so make sure to bookmark this page and check back from time to time for new opportunities.
#1 â TimeBucks
Available in: More or less worldwide Payout methods: Bank transfer (Wise), PayPal, Litecoin, AirTM, Neteller, Skrill, Payeer Payout threshold: $5 More information: Â Read full TimeBucks review
Short summary: TimeBucks offers many different micro jobs you can do. You can, for example, earn by answering surveys, watching online slideshows, watching videos, taking paid offers, solving captcha, doing social media tasks, and more.
It has a good number of micro jobs available, so youâll be able to earn a decent amount regularly. It has a low payout threshold of $5, and once you reach it, you can withdraw your earnings in various ways.
You can withdraw your earnings via direct bank transfer through Wise, PayPal cash, or you can choose other payment methods like AirTM, Neteller, Skrill, or Payeer. You can also choose to convert your earnings to Bitcoin or Litecoin.
#2 â OneForma
Available in: More or less worldwide Payout methods: Â PayPal, Payoneer Payout threshold: None More information: Â Read full OneForma review
Short summary: OneForma is a full-fledged micro job site. It is available more or less worldwide, so you can register as a member regardless of where you live. You can earn by completing jobs that require data collection, transcriptions, or translations. You can also earn by inviting other people to join the site.
What makes this site a good option is you donât really have to reach a threshold to get paid. This is because they will pay you every month (of course, you have to earn first). Payment is done every month and it will cover all your earnings from the previous month.
You can either choose to get paid via PayPal or Payoneer. OneForma also offers relatively high rewards for its micro jobs, so youâll be able to earn a decent amount from it. You just have to be patient when applying for micro jobs because you wonât always get accepted.
#3 â Appen Tasks
Available in: Worldwide Payout methods: Â PayPal Payout threshold: $10 More information: Â Read full Appen Tasks review
Short summary: When Appen acquired Figure Eight (a popular micro jobs site), it incorporated the site to its own micro jobs platform (Appen also has its own survey panel which has its own login portal). To earn from this site, you can do various jobs like data entry and collection and a lot more.
Another thing that makes this site an interesting choice is, it can be a good long-term investment because you will eventually earn more the longer you keep doing their micro jobs. When youâve earned $10, you will then be able to withdraw your earnings via PayPal.
Their jobs also donât pay well at the beginning, but as mentioned above, you will be able to earn more as you keep completing jobs over time. So, overall, its earning potential is good and you really wonât run out of jobs to do.
#4 â Respondent
Available in: Worldwide Payout methods: Â PayPal Payout threshold: none More information: Â Read full Respondent review
Short summary: Respondent is a form of crowdsourcing site that will pay you for participating in research activities. So, you will basically be participating in research projects. Aside from participating in research projects, you can also earn by inviting other people to join the site.
The good thing about this site is, you donât have to reach a threshold to withdraw your earnings. Whenever you complete a project, the site will pay you via PayPal as soon as it receives the payment from the company/individual that posted the project.
It doesnât have as many opportunities as the other sites on this list, but what makes it a good option is that most of the projects it offers pay a rather significant amount. So, even though there arenât a lot of earning opportunities, you will still be able to earn a decent amount when you manage to complete even just one project.
#5 â Fancy Hands
Available in: US Payout methods: Bank transfer Payout threshold: none More information: Â Read full Fancy Hands review
Short summary: Fancy Hands offers a different kind of micro jobs than most other platforms, and if you live in the US, it can be an interesting way to earn some extra money.
They tasks are, for example, to make phone calls, schedule appointments, tracking down the best price for something, and more.
Most jobs will pay you $3-$4 per job and you get paid weekly via bank transfer.
#6 â ClickWorker
Available in: More or less worldwide Payout methods: Â PayPal, SEPA, or Transferwise Payout threshold: $10 More information: Â Read full ClickWorker review
Short summary: ClickWorker is a micro jobs site that mainly offers data entry jobs. Most of the jobs will ask you to categorize data of websites.
It has a relatively low payout threshold of $10, so youâll be able to withdraw your earnings quite easily. Once you hit the threshold, you can withdraw it either via PayPal, Transferwise, or SEPA.
What makes this site a decent option is, if you donât feel like doing data entry jobs or if there arenât any available jobs, you can still earn by answering paid surveys. So, itâs a bit more flexible in terms of the earning opportunities it offers.
#7 â Amazon MTurk
Available in: More or less worldwide Payout methods: Â Amazon gift cards, Amazon Payments Payout threshold: None More information: Â Read full Amazon MTurk review
Short summary: Amazon MTurk is a micro jobs site that also offers paid surveys as another way to earn rewards. It has a fairly decent number of jobs you can do and they pay rather well. You can find transcription jobs as well as data classification jobs from this site, among other things.
It is available more or less worldwide, but technically speaking, Amazon MTurk is only great for people living in the US and India and not so great for everyone else. This is because if you live in the US, you can transfer your earnings to your Amazon Payments account and then from there to your bank account or you can convert them to gift cards for Amazon.com.
If you live in India, you can withdraw your earnings directly to your bank account or convert it to an Amazon gift card. If you live anywhere else, you will only get to redeem Amazon gift cards, which is not available for all countries.
You also need to be a bit more patient when registering because becoming a member of this site isnât as easy as the other sites on this list since you will have to apply to become a member.
#8 â Hive Micro
Available in: Worldwide Payout methods: PayPal, Bitcoin Payout threshold: $10 More information: Â Read full Hive Micro review
Short summary: Hive Micro offers plenty of micro jobs and you can join from all countries.
Most of the tasks are tasks that need human intelligence to train AI, so you will, for example, identify items on images, classify pixels on images, and similar. It takes some patience but with a bit of practice, it can be a nice way to find legit micro jobs.
Once you have earned $10, you can get paid in PayPal cash or Bitcoin.
#9 â RapidWorkers
Available in: More or less worldwide Payout methods: Â PayPal Payout threshold: $8 More information: Â Read full RapidWorkers review
Short summary: RapidWorkers is a micro jobs site that has been around since 2009. So, itâs a testament to how dependable this site is. You will be able to earn by doing jobs that will ask you to visit websites, download apps and programs, watching videos, and a lot more. Since there are a lot of jobs available, you really wonât run out of things to do to earn.
The payout threshold you need to reach is also relatively low ($8) and when you reach it, you will be able to withdraw it via PayPal. It does, however, have a 6% withdrawal fee that will be deducted from the amount you will withdraw.
The availability of jobs will depend on your location. If you live in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Norway, the earning potential is quite good. But if you donât live in the countries mentioned above, donât expect to earn a lot, which is the main reason why it isnât ranked higher on this list.
#10 â SproutGigs
Available in: Worldwide Payout methods: PayPal, Litecoin, Skrill, AirTM, Payout threshold: $5 More information: Â Read full SproutGigs review
Short summary: Another popular micro job site you can join is called SproutGigs – This used to be called PicoWorkers but changed its name. This site has a high number of micro jobs available where you can earn by visiting sites, signing up as a member on certain websites, reading articles, and a lot more. Plus, you can also earn additional rewards by inviting other people to join the site.
Itâs also one of the few micro jobs sites with a low payout threshold ($5). And when you hit the threshold, you can choose to withdraw your earnings via PayPal or convert it to cryptocurrency (Litecoin).
The biggest advantage of SproutGigs is without a doubt, that it always has numerous small jobs available. However, you need to choose the tasks carefully as some of them are what I would call unethical, and you also need to be aware that it charges quite high processing fees when withdrawing, so you will not get the full amount you have earned.
#11 â MicroWorkers
Available in: More or less worldwide Payout methods: Â Payoneer, PayPal, Dwolla (US only), Skrill, or Transpay Payout threshold: $20 for Payoneer, $9 for other options More information: Â Read full MicroWorkers review
Short summary: MicroWorkers is an online platform that will allow you to earn by doing small online jobs. It has quite a lot of job categories you can choose from, so you wonât really run out of opportunities to earn. They donât pay as well as the other sites on this list, but you will still be able to earn a decent amount. You just need to be a bit more patient.
It has a relatively low payout threshold for PayPal, Dwolla, Skrill, or Transpay ($9). But if you choose to withdraw your earnings via Payoneer, you will need to earn $20, which is relatively high, in my opinion.
The first time you request a payout, a PIN number will be mailed to your home address and it will usually take about four weeks for you to receive it. So, it can take quite some time to get paid the first time. But once you have your PIN, withdrawing your earnings will be a lot easier.
So that concludes my guide of the best micro job sites you can join. Remember, all the sites mentioned above are legit and free to join . You just have to set aside a bit of your time and some effort to earn a decent amount.
And as recommended, if you want to maximize your earnings, you should join around 5 to 7 sites . But if you are already a micro jobs veteran (so to speak), you can always join more sites so you can earn more.
I will regularly be updating this list if I find more sites that are worth joining, so remember to bookmark this page and come back to it from time to time.
If you have any comments, questions, or have any experiences with micro job sites you think belong on this list, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.

Micro Jobs: 8 of The Best Websites to Find Them
If you’re looking to earn a healthy side-income from completing micro jobs online, youâll appreciate this guide. Whether you have a wide breadth of online skills, or none at all, completing tasks online is something virtually anyone can do.
This guide features a full explanation of what micro jobs are and how they work, plus a list of where you can find some of the best micro jobs sites.
What are micro jobs?
Micro jobs are one-off tasks that typically take a short time to complete. The customer who pays for the micro job posts the task online and workers can pick up the micro-assignment at will. People who do these jobs are considered gig workers and part of the 1099 economy (a reference to the 1099-NEC form that businesses fill out for tax purposes for contract workers who earn more than $600/year).
In the present day, most micro jobs are advertised and booked online, but the task itself may be delivered online or out in the real world.
Types of micro jobs
The first type of micro jobs are known as Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs) and are entry-level tasks that require just a few minutes, or even a few seconds to complete. They are offered by Amazon mTurk (whose workers are called ‘Turkers’), as well as by Appen .
Some work examples include: identifying photos, conducting simple research tasks, and classifying items.
The second category of jobs may require a little bit more skill, but are still generally very simple. These can be things such as image editing, voiceovers, copywriting, copy editing or basic web design.
Offline micro jobs in this category include deliveries, mystery shopping , home maintenance or DIY work.
Both type of these kinds of micro jobs are part of the gig economy and workers who engage in this type of work can do this piecemeal; that is, they set their own hours and work as much or as little as they choose.
How do micro jobs work?
The easiest way to get a steady supply of micro jobs is to sign up for an online micro jobs website and become part of the crowdworking community.
If you’re looking to become a ‘task rabbit’ to earn extra income, you can visit websites that offer Appen jobs, and choose from a list of small jobs available. The jobs will display the pay rate offered, the task and how many tasks of that nature are offered. This type of work rarely requires much skill – a simple attention to detail is what is most required.
Alternatively, some more skill-based websites like Fiverr will ask that you create a profile, explaining what jobs you are willing to do and your experience level. Itâs best to explain your qualifications and include a portfolio of your previous work, as youâll be competing with other workers to be chosen for the job.
When you sign up for one of these websites, you can expect your services to be advertised to a broad audience for a fee, typically issued as a percentage of your total earnings.
Most micro job websites let you set your own prices. You can also expect them to include a review system where previous customers can rate your work.
Workers with loads of good reviews tend to get pushed to the top of search results. At this point, their workload – and therefore their earnings – can often skyrocket. It can take a lot of hustle to get those first few gigs though.
What are the best micro jobs websites?
Here is our selection of the best online micro job websites:
Appen specializes in micro tasks that train artificial intelligence programs to learn and respond better to real-world situations.
Common examples of these tasks include transcribing audio, moderating content, drawing shapes etc. Appen pay varies, depending on the task; you will be paid more for tasks that require more skill or precision. Even so, as most tasks only take a few seconds or at most, a few minutes to complete, the Appen pay rate per task completion will typically be less than a dollar. The key to making more is to focus on volume – the more tasks you complete, the more you will earn.
Appen tasks are available through get-paid-to websites including:
- Swagbucks – get a $5.00 account credit, just for joining
- PrizeRebel – cash out your earnings for PayPal cash or a gift card
- ySense – open internationally, tons of earning opportunities
- instaGC – as the name implies, earn instant gift cards for your efforts
Amazon Mechanical Turk
As you might expect from a brand the size of Amazon, there are thousands of workers selling their services here and even more looking for jobs to be completed.
Amazon mTurk specializes in jobs that âpeople can do much more effectively than computersâ, ie Human Intelligence Tasks. These include data proofing, audio transcription, language translation, content writing and web research.
Upon signing up as an Amazon micro jobs worker, you’ll need to complete one HIT per day during the first 10 days in order to demonstrate your ability to follow instructions and complete simple tasks. After that, you’ll be able to pick up as many micro-jobs posted to the platform as you can complete.
Fiverr is one of the most well-known and most-frequented micro jobs websites. You will find a huge range of jobs advertised on Fiverr, from the common jobs mentioned above to absolutely bizarre tasks that no-one knew they needed doing.
Originally, sellers had to charge $5 for their services (hence the name, ‘Fiverr’), but now they can set their own prices.
There are plenty of people making a decent living on Fiverr. Perhaps youâll be the next one.
TaskRabbit is an offline micro jobs website. It focuses primarily on DIY and manual labor. Itâs available in 60+ U.S cities, nine Canadian cities and six UK cities. It has been used by millions of people since it was founded in 2008.
Roamler is a micro jobs app available on iOS and Android in 15 countries across Europe. Most tasks are offline jobs completed in the name of market research.
Youâll be asked to visit shops around your local city, answer questions about them, take photos and perhaps engage in mystery shopping tasks. The Roamler app is used to record the results of your task.
This app differs to the aforementioned online services in that the jobs are available on a first-come first served basis.
When you agree to complete a job, youâll be given a time limit to complete it.
Upwork meets the definition of a micro jobs website. However, this website is more aimed at professional freelancers than your average Joe looking to make some beer money.
The marketplace works differently, as itâs buyers who post their job and sellers who bid to do the work. Itâs a race to the bottom as the cheapest qualified individual is usually chosen.
The jobs still tend to pay more on this website than others on this list though – and youâre more likely to be enlisted for ongoing work too.
A smaller micro jobs marketplace than most of the websites listed above, but that potentially means there is less competition to stand out from. Sellers can only sell services for between $5 and $50.
The majority of jobs advertised on GigBucks are related to online marketing or social media promotion, although there are 19 job categories listed in total.
Zeerk claims to have the worldâs largest list of real micro jobs. It focuses primarily on web design, SEO and online marketing tasks though. Sellers must charge between $3 and $200 for their services.
Zeerk also has an eye-catching affiliate scheme, where youâll make 10% of the money paid to sellers by customers who use your unique referral link.
Additional Considerations
Upon deciding to become a micro gig worker, here are some factors to consider when deciding which websites to work with, if you’re offering skill-based work:
- How many people are visiting the website? There are various online tools you can use to estimate a websiteâs monthly traffic or people searching for its brand name. These tools are likely to be more reliable than the figures the website itself advertises.
- Are its customers searching for your job? You may prefer to advertise on a website that specializes in your line of work.
- Fees. Some websites will take a bigger chunk of your earnings than others.
- Reviews. Check various reviews websites to see what sellers think of the service. If the website has a mobile app, check the reviews on the iOS store and Google Play store too.
Quick tips when using a micro jobs site:
- Be available – ensure you log in frequently to the sites above, to ensure you’re first in line when a new job becomes available.
- Subscribe to notifications – sign up for e-mail notifications that match the jobs you’re looking for.
- Use the app – if the site you’re using offers a mobile app, be sure to use it! Not only will you be notified to new jobs faster, but you may be able to complete the job itself using your phone.
- Use your skills – if you possess skills in things like image editing, transcription, etc, make sure you’ve listed this on your profile. Better yet, complete the online assessments for this type of work, if offered on the micro jobs site you’ve joined.

7 Websites That Pay for Microtasks
- March 20, 2021
If you are one of those that are looking for a side income, micro-tasking may be the best solution for you. In your busy schedule, you can easily fit the micro-tasks among your regular life work.
The word âmicrotaskâ says it all. These are the types of tasks that one can accomplish easily without taking much time, usually within minutes. As a result, you can complete these small tasks in between your two major tasks or even on your way to work or home. Most importantly, they do not hamper your daily life activities but still lets you earn some extra cash.
In the next paragraphs, we will present some websites that let you earn a little more through microtasks.
How Much Money Can One Make Through Microtasks
As you already might have understood, microtasks are not something highest-paying. They are just side-gigs with some bit of cash. So how does that benefit you? Well, it is highly flexible. Besides, you donât need much previous experience. In some cases, you donât need previous experience at all.
Common microtasks include but are not limited to URL searches, testing games and other apps, basic proofreading, sorting email, writing reviews, content moderation, etc.
If you are someone willing to look at a large amount, microtasks are not the best option for you. But if you want to earn a little more at your free, flexible time, you can make from microtasks around 50 to 100 dollars a week.
Best Websites for Microtasks
When it comes to making money, you will find so many websites and apps, most of which are fraudulent or not legal. Therefore, it might be a little tricky for you to determine legit sites with the potential of real-earning.
Moreover, not all of the microtask sites pay the same. Some of them pay as low that it will take you ages to reach a threshold. Hence, we have come up with websites and applications that pay more than others and are legit. Following are some of those best websites for microtasks.
1. Clickworker
Complex, large projects are broken down into smaller parts. Clickworker allows you to accomplish these small parts of the actual larger project. The sophisticated platform of Clickworker allows it to oversee and coordinate tasks so that there is an optimum workflow.
Microtasks in this website includes text translations, tagging, processing data, and web research. Workers on Clickworker can earn a $9 average per hour, according to the website. But with concentration and swiftness, you can get it over $10.
2. Swagbucks
Everyone likes to put their opinions, comments, reviews online. But what happens when you get paid to do that? Well, Swagbucks let you do that kind of microtasks with some side-earning. The currency is SBs, a point system on this platform. Primarily, you can complete online surveys. But it is not limited to surveys only. Playing games, online shopping, watching videos, and an even easier one, surfing the internet, are some of the other microtasks on Swagbucks.
The withdrawal system allows a number of methods- from Paypal cash to different gift cards, including Google Play and Amazon. Once you reach enough points, you can withdraw them. The current minimum points for withdrawal are 2,200 SBs for a Google Play card of $25. When you log in to Swagbucks, some SBs accumulate in your account as an introductory bonus. Â
3. Microtask JobBoard
Microtask is a micro job board & gig job sites that allows you to complete small tasks and earn money from anywhere in the world. Lean more on how you can join our very own job board and start earning money here.
4. InboxDollars
InboxDollars is another microtask website. This platform pays you for taking surveys, watching videos, reading emails, and some other microtasks. It also allows cashback on online shopping as well as coupons for various items, including groceries.
Unlike Swagbucks, real money accumulates in your account. On top of that, you can see the earning potential at the beginning of any task. It ranges from 10 cents to $5 for each job. However, the sufficient amount for withdrawal is a bit steep, $30. However, you can withdraw your earnings through PayPal, gift card, or check.
5. Microworkers
It is one of the top websites for microtasks, with over a million workers and 40 million microtasks. The micro-jobs include ad monitoring, categorization, data entry, completing surveys, etc.
Microworkers value your working experience. Hence, once you successfully complete a task, you get access to higher tasks.
The minimum amount for withdrawal is $9 on this platform, which is much lower than many other microtask websites. Withdrawal methods include Dwolla, PayPal, and Transpay.
6. FancyHands
This platform is perfect for those that want to work as virtual assistants. The microtasks include data entry, making travel arrangements , making calls, scheduling appointments, etc.
Although the tasks of a virtual assistant are not more challenging than other microtasks, it is higher-paying. However, you will need good communications skill and persuasive ability. Also, you will need a high-quality audio headset.
FancyHands usually pay from $3 to $7. But the good thing is you can work for more than one client at the same time, making it your full-time income.
7. Task Rabbit
This website is different from other websites on this list. That is because while other sites let you find online jobs, Task Rabbit helps you find offline jobs in your area. The jobs may include cleaning, gardening, delivering packages or foods, etc. Also, they will notify you once a task comes up in the area.
You can earn around $110 each month from Task Rabbit. But the amount may get higher or lower, based on the demand in that area.
Unlike other microtask platforms in this article, GigWalk is entirely an app-based platform. You need to download the app on a compatible mobile handset. Then, browse the gig list and find the tasks appropriate for you.
You will be paid from 3 dollars up to a hundred for each task. What is good about this app is that there is no minimum amount for withdrawal. It directly connects to your PayPal wallet. Whenever you complete a task, you receive a direct payment for that upon its approval.
Choose Your Side Gig Today
We have included a variety of top websites and applications that pay for microtasks. Each one of them is different in terms of procedures, payment pethods, and regulations. But one thing that they all have in common is that they donât require much experience. Also, you can start whenever you want. Therefore, choose the platform that suits you the most and start earning right away.f

A Note on âWork From Homeâ Jobs, Telecommuting, and Remote Work
Letâs take a moment to clear up the difference between work-from-home jobs, telecommuting jobs, and remote work.
- Work-from-home jobs are exactly how they sound â jobs working at home. This term speaks to the assumption that jobs are either done in a traditional office or from your living room. But for many people, working out of their house is a perfect remote solution.
- Telecommuting jobs typically allow people to work from home (or elsewhere) for companies or organizations still in their immediate area. A job where someone works in an office three days a week but spends two days working from home is a classic example of telecommuting.
- Remote work is a catch-all term that applies to work that can be done from anywhere in the world. Since working-from-home jobs and telecommuting jobs are subsets of remote work, we prefer to use remote work to describe any job that doesnât involve being tied to a specific office or workplace. If youâre working from home, thatâs remote work. If youâre working from a coworking space, a coffee shop, or the beach, thatâs also remote work, too.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics , the number of people doing some or all of their work remotely was on the rise even before 2020. So thereâs no time like the present to get in on the unique benefits and advantages of working an online remote job .
When youâre ready for the roadmap to prepare yourself for the remote job application process, check out our guide to finding a remote job here.

Some well-known job portals facilitate and offer well-paying freelance tech jobs for aspiring candidates. You can check out some of these job portals and apply for suitable projects.
Toptal, an acronym for Top Talent, advertises itself as a recruitment board catering to the top 3% of candidates applying for freelance technical jobs. The portal's screening process entails multiple rounds, making hiring suitable talent for the open positions easier.
The rounds are split into multiple categories, as follows:
- Language and Personality: The first round checks the candidate's English language and communication prowess.
- In-Depth Skill Review: Since you are applying for a technical role, your problem-solving and technical skills will move you to the next round.
- Live Screening: If you pass the first two rounds, you move to the Live Screening round, wherein Toptal screeners test your skills on live exercises to gauge your expertise for the role.
- Test Projects: Test projects are the fourth stage of the evaluation process and can take one to three weeks. During this test, you must demonstrate competence, professionalism, and thoroughness within your projects to impress the screeners.

2. Authentic Jobs

5. Freelance Marketplaces – Upwork , Freelancer , and Fiverr
Many remote tech job seekers are familiar with freelance platforms like Upwork, Freelancer.com, and Fiverr. These websites are online marketplaces where employers update their jobs, and freelancers can pitch for their favorite positions.
Once an employer identifies a suitable candidate and agrees on the proposed rate, they can hire the freelancer and establish milestones for the task. Each pitch differs in its monetary value, so there is no set amount for each technical job.
However, what stands out is that these platforms charge a hefty fee from the freelancers, making them a little expensive to be associated with.
6. Flexiple
Like many freelancing portals, Flexiple connects freelancers with employers seeking technical expertise. Freelancers have to undergo elaborate proficiency tests. As a freelancer, your profile and skills are shared with employers once you clear your tests. This process helps bridge the gap between talents and job requirements.
Some common job profiles revolve around the following language requirements:
There are plenty more languages on this list. Flexiple advertises tech jobs that require coding and programming skills only. So make sure you have a solid background in the required languages before investing your time and effort in completing your application.
If you are not getting high-paying tech jobs, you are not on the right platform. As a freelancer, targeting the most searched and high-performing websites, such as Arc(), is always advisable, which promises to be better than their competitors.
Arc vets developers basis their capabilities by putting them through various screening rounds. For example, your application goes through the following stages:
- Manual profile screening
- Self-introduction video
- Technical Interview & Pair Programming
- Final Candidate Review
- Candidate Onboarding
- Ongoing Review
Arc proudly states that only 1.1% of developer applications meet their standards, which proves that only the best are given some of the highest-paying remote tech jobs in the market.
8. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a famous job engagement and enrichment platform which caters to all technical and non-technical jobs for freelancers and full-time professionals. You can connect with different hiring companies, follow people from a network, or apply for your favorite job; the choice is yours.
You can always do a little extra on LinkedIn via its job portal. The global platform has become the hub for people looking to hire and collaborate with people from all professional realms, making it one of the most revered job portals on the internet.
Technical Jobs and Their Associated Remote Working Mistakes
When looking for good, well-paying remote tech jobs, nothing can beat the internet. There is no dearth of options, from varied job portals to fancy marketplaces.
However, even if you have the required skill sets to land a good gig, you must avoid some of the most common tech career mistakes to make the most of the available opportunities. When you heed the job requirements, you can harvest the opportunity and create a spot for yourself in the technical world.

Itâs not impossible to get a job without contacts.
You've probably heard the famous catchphrase, "It's not what you know but who you know." Many people think itâs impossible to get a job without contacts. While referrals are generally four times more likely to be hired than other candidates, it is still possible to land a role without any connections. It just takes a bit of additional planning and preparation.
First, remember that it's never too late to grow your network . You don't need to be one of those people with an enormous list of contacts. Itâs more beneficial to focus on the quality of your network than the number of people in your virtual Rolodex.
To get a job without contacts, approach your search strategically. That means leaning into your skills, qualifications and personality. Whether you are a recent graduate or a seasoned professional, these practical approaches will help you get noticed and hired at a top company.
Focus Your Job Search
Your job search needs to be well thought out and intentional. So, the initial step is to have a specific idea of the role youâre looking for. Narrow your selection down to a list of companies and job titles. Because job titles vary across organizations and industries, you may need to broaden your search parameters to include additional roles. At that point, you can set up job alerts to receive ongoing notifications for relevant positions.
Start Building Your Network
If you just graduated from college or are thinking of changing careers, building your network from scratch might be necessary. To begin, start with who you know, including family and friends. A great way to meet new people is to join your local college alum group. Some additional places to connect with individuals to add to your network include:
Best High-Yield Savings Accounts Of 2024
Best 5% interest savings accounts of 2024.
- Trade shows
- Athletic events
- Volunteer gatherings
- Seminars and conventions
- Professional association meetings
Of course, in-person events are not the only place to expand your network. For online networking, LinkedIn is the ideal platform . Start by optimizing your profile and connecting with people who share mutual interests. Join LinkedIn groups and participate in virtual events. Finally, once you gain traction, create content to establish yourself as a thought leader in your industry. You will set yourself apart in a crowded professional marketplace by positioning yourself as an expert.
Leverage Professional Services
When youâre struggling to get a job without contacts, it helps to seek professional help. A career coach specializes in helping you on your journey of self-discovery. Many people wait to hire a coach until they are middle managers. But having a coach early on can help accelerate your career. To find someone reputable, coaching associations like the International Coaching Federation or International Association of Coaching are great resources. You also might explore a virtual coaching platform like BetterUp or CoachUp. In the end, take your time to find the right person. Most coaching engagements last several months, and youâll want to find someone trustworthy to whom you feel comfortable opening up.
Lean On References
A professional reference is someone you trust, like a manager, co-worker, client or vendor, who can attest to your expertise and integrity. Donât overlook recommendations from people at volunteer organizations youâve been involved with. Even someone who worked for you might be a good choice. Once you have a list of references, contact them early in your job search to ensure they are willing to recommend you. If they agree, give them specifics about the role and remind them of any achievements you would like to highlight. Be sure to prepare them before being contacted by the employer. Afterward, don't forget to thank your references and inform them of the outcome.
Use A Storytelling Approach
Unlike a traditional bullet-pointed resume, a storytelling or narrative resume communicates your experience and qualifications more effectively. The format is creative and engaging because it uses paragraphs and descriptive language to make your value to an employer come to life. A key advantage to a narrative resume is that it helps the recruiter better understand your competencies while illustrating why you would make an ideal candidate. Not only is the format more memorable, but it also does a better job of communicating your career history and achievements cohesively.
Don't let a lack of connections discourage you from applying for a position. While it can be intimidating, itâs not impossible to get a job without contacts. Sometimes, taking the initiative, knowing your worth and using a focused strategy is enough.

The Long Run
A Vice Presidential Learning Curve: How Kamala Harris Picked Her Shots
As President Bidenâs understudy, Ms. Harris did not often get to lead on signature issues. But she found roles to play on abortion rights, gun safety and a Supreme Court appointment.

Peter Baker and Zolan Kanno-Youngs are White House reporters who have covered Kamala Harris for nearly four years and traveled with her to Europe, Asia, Africa and across the United States.
- Aug. 18, 2024
When a draft of a blockbuster Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade leaked in 2022 , Vice President Kamala Harris met with Ron Klain, then the White House chief of staff, in her West Wing office. He had an idea: She should lead a new task force on abortion rights.
She seemed uncertain. âWhy?â she asked.
âWe need a real leader, and youâre the leader,â Mr. Klain responded.
Ms. Harris asked for time to think about it. She did not want to just give a speech without substance. And she had spent much of the previous year and a half trying to avoid being typecast as the first female vice president. But as the White House began mapping out executive actions to defend access to abortion, she began to see the possibilities and accepted the role.
It was a moment that captured the essence of the Harris vice presidency. Deliberate and disciplined, cautious and at times risk averse, she saw trapdoors around her and wanted to avoid them. She considered herself a team player, but could not always be sure the team had her best interests at heart. She gravitated to issues on which she thought she could make a difference without upstaging President Biden, but was rarely promoted as a critical player in the administration.
The courtâs Dobbs v. Jackson Womenâs Health Organization decision eliminating a constitutional right to abortion proved to be an issue on which Ms. Harris could take the lead, one that Mr. Biden, a churchgoing Catholic, did not feel as comfortable addressing. She found her voice as the administrationâs champion of abortion rights , changing some minds among Democrats who had harbored doubts about her. And she paved the way to the moment when she will accept her partyâs nomination for president this week.
Ms. Harrisâs record as vice president is complex, as described in interviews with dozens of current and former administration officials and allies, some of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid alienating her or the president. She has done the dutiful things she has been asked to do. She led a labor task force and a gun safety office. She traveled to places the president had no time to visit. She has been sent to deliver private messages to the leaders of Poland and Germany and to break key tie votes in the Senate.
