             The American colonist were unquestionably right in waging war and breaking away from their mother country Britain. The conflicts that occurred between the two justified that Britain's intentions and interests were self-centered and were meant to be much more beneficial to the English. Parliament was imposing laws that levied duties not for the regulation of trade, but for the single purpose of raising profits. The colonists no longer wanted to be under Britain's mercantilist system, and in this effort to gain independence they declared war.              The French and Indian War was the beginning cause of the Revolutionary War. The English supported the colonies during this war by giving up troops and money, as any ally country would do when another is in need. Yet Britain felt that they needed to be compensated for what they had given up. This is the beginning of Britain's deem for repayment.              According to John Dickinson parliament does have the right to regulate trade of all the colonies. Although he does object to the Stamp Act and Townshend Acts two of many that parliament will soon bestow on the colonists. These acts were put upon the colonist in the best interests of Great Britain. They were not issued for the regulation of trade but only for receiving and making money for themselves.              One of the last things that contributed to the Revolutionary War was the Boston Massacre. Many people believe that this is were the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired. The events that occurred on March 5th, helped to change the minds of many colonists about the British. On that day five colonists were killed and one wounded by British soldiers. Paul Reveres helped to educate the colonist about h the British's murderous actions and anti-American behavior. In 1775 the Revolutionary war began, and Americans were forced to decide to fight against the greatest army in the world or remain loyal to the king. Patriots, people who fought against Great Britain, had aspirations of being free from Great Britain. On the contrary, there were loyalists who wanted to stay loyal to the king. Although Patriots believed they were treated unjust by the king, colonists should remain loyalists because of Great Britain's equipment, money, and the colonists’ physical altercations. One major advantage Great Britain had over the colonists was equipment. Great Britain was well equipped for war with both and army and navy. Their Navy was “the best in the world, had 131 ships of the line (at least 64 guns each), and hundreds of other ships.” The army was “one of the best in the world, well trained and disciplined, and well equipped (Document 4). In a description of the continental army it says, “we must view our colonies half armed,” meaning compared to Britain they have little to no equipment (Document 5). But, in next twelve years, the same pride was altered by at bitter and violent conflict with the mother country. The injustices of the mother country finally led the American colonists to declare independence and wage war against it.
