Tips to Write a Top-Notch Account Executive Cover Letter

Salesperson pops out of computer screen to depict outselling the competition with sales cover letter

You know that client management and customer acquisition require a tailored approach to handle specific needs. It’s also important to take a tailored approach when writing your cover letter.

You’ll want to start by reviewing each company’s job description to understand their work culture, mission, and what skills they’re seeking. Think of it like performing market research for a sales campaign. Then, personalize each cover letter to specific needs.

Start on the right track with the intro of your account executive cover letter

Like ad copy or a sales presentation, you must immediately grab a hiring manager’s attention with your cover letter.

A great way to start is addressing a hiring manager by name if you can find a contact person listed on the company’s website or in the job description , similar to learning a prospect’s name when you begin a sales call.

Then, as you get into the opening paragraph, aim to connect with the company’s mission and what they’re seeking in account executives. For example, you could write about how you’re eager to use your pipeline management skills to help a B2B tech company continue to modernize the business landscape.

The intro below doesn’t quite hit the mark since the applicant doesn’t reference the company’s mission or get into any details about what makes them a great fit as an account executive.

This could use more details!

Dear Ms. Martin,

I’m excited to be applying to your sales account executive job opening. With my years of sales experience, I think I can bring a lot of value to your team.

The opener below does a much better job referencing abilities in market research, HubSpot, and client onboarding that’ll make the applicant stand out as the right account executive for the role.

An excellent opener listing specific skills!

Dear Ms. Anderson,

I see a convergence of passion between Comcast Corporation’s commitment to lead the media and technology industry and my professional abilities and understanding of market research, HubSpot, and client onboarding. After being an influential member of a dynamic team for four years, I am ready to contribute substantially as an account executive at your esteemed organization.

Round out your skills in the body of your account executive cover letter

Approach the body of your account executive cover letter as you would the middle of a sales presentation. You need to showcase evidence that you’re the best fit for a company’s needs.

One of the best ways to do that is to include numerical examples, such as how you increased the accuracy of market research or boosted client retention.

If you don’t have as much account management professional experience , you could also write about transferable jobs like sales internships or your marketing or business management education.

A great body paragraph with relevant skills and metrics!

Apart from my research and data analysis expertise, I can handle key accounts and facilitate successful client onboarding. Thanks to this added prowess, Aramark witnessed a 19% spike in client retention rate during my 1.5-year tenure with them.

Inspire action with the closing of your account executive cover letter

When writing an email to a prospective client, you’d want to end it by inspiring action to make the sale. Do the same in the closing of your cover letter with a light call to action while rephrasing your connection to the company’s mission and how your market research and prospecting skills fit in.

For example, you could explain how you would be thrilled to use your relationship-building skills to help achieve the company’s goals of increasing client retention while ensuring top sales performance.

The closer below doesn’t make the right impact since the applicant doesn’t mention what they’ll bring to the company as an account executive or use a call to action.

Yikes, lacking specific details about the role!

I’m motivated to help your company achieve your sales goals as your next account executive. Thank you for considering my application.

Jill Westbrook

The example below does a better job referencing how the applicant connects to Cardinal Health’s customer service goals while using their knowledge of sales metrics and financial analysis in the role.

A great closer emphasizing the right skills and goals!

My passion for enhancing customer service, complemented by my sales metrics and financial analysis skills, gives me confidence in my ability to excel as a junior account executive at Cardinal Health. I look forward to discussing this opportunity further. Thank you for considering my application.

Arjun Gupta

Ideally, you’ll want to match the tone in each company’s job description . For example, a company that uses a formal tone would appreciate you matching that to show how you’ll fit into their professional culture as an account executive while you explain how you’ll bring accurate market analysis and forecasting to their team.

It’s best practice to keep account executive cover letters on a single page. If you’re having difficulty narrowing it down, focus on each company’s primary needs. For example, if you were applying for a financial account executive role, you may want to focus on experience in budget management or running cost analysis.

Customizing your cover letter for each job will help you stand out and get more interviews. For example, consider one company that takes a solution selling approach while another focuses on value selling. Then, you could explain how you use market research differently, such as identifying customer pain points in solution selling and using it for market positioning in value selling.

1. How to properly format your account executive cover letter header and headline

Cover letters do not have the same level of organization or formatting cleanliness as resumes.

As such, you must find ways to give your cover letter an appealing visual flow to avoid making it look cluttered or like one big block of text.

This is primarily accomplished through the use of a header and headline.

Starting with your cover letter header , you will place this element in the top left corner of the document and include key identifying information, such as your name and professional title.

Your header should also include your professional contact information, as well as the name and address of the employer you are sending the letter to.

Here is an example of a well-formatted account executive cover letter header

John Doe , Sales Account Executive (123) 456-7890 | [email protected] | linkedin.com/in/john-doe

To: Dunder Paper Company 1234 Street Address Milwaukee, WI 53201

Next, you will write your cover letter headline . A headline helps to separate the header from the rest of the cover letter’s text. Additionally, a headline is similar to a title statement and gives you the opportunity to hook the employer’s attention with compelling language and keywords.

Here is an example of a strong headline from an account executive cover letter

2. How to personalize your account executive cover letter

When an employer is hiring, they undoubtedly read many cover letters throughout the process.

To make your cover letter stand out , it is crucial to personalize your letter as much as possible. This simply means you must research specific details about the company and then use that information throughout your letter.

Personalizing a cover letter is always an important process, as it helps to make the letter feel more tailored and specific to one employer.

An important piece of information to always look for is who at the company is likely to receive and read your cover letter. Once you have uncovered who this person is, you can create a personalized greeting — a type of greeting in which you address one specific person by name.

Here are 3 examples of personalized account executive cover letter greetings

  • Dear COO Jane Smith,

Dear Hiring Manager Joe King,

  • Dear Ms. Jane Smith & Mr. Joe King,

3. How to make your account executive cover letter introduction compelling

A compelling introduction is one of the most critically important components of any account executive’s cover letter. In your introduction is where you will strive to grab the employer’s attention and intrigue them enough to make them read further.

A strong introduction will always include a summary of your professional history, such as your years of experience and any specialized areas of expertise you possess.

Furthermore, it can be incredibly helpful to name a mutual acquaintance within your introduction. Mutual acquaintances can include professional mentors, former employers, high-level coworkers, or any other professional acquaintance you have that also has connections to the company you are applying to.

By naming this mutual acquaintance, you are providing the employer with a professional reference they know and trust, thereby creating a great first impression for yourself as well.

Here is an example of a compelling introduction from an account executive cover letter

As an account manager with more than 8 years of experience working in technology and software sales, I have the strong skill set your company needs to attract high-level clients. In my former position at [Former Employer], I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with your company’s COO, Jane Smith. After being kind enough to provide feedback on my resume, Ms. Smith strongly recommended I consider applying for a position with your company.

4. What are the best account executive qualifications to include in your cover letter

Now that you have the employer’s attention firmly fixed on your letter, you can begin to describe the additional qualifications that make you the ideal candidate for the position.

Your descriptions of your qualifications should include:

  • Relevant skills and how you plan to apply them at the employer’s company
  • Key accomplishments and how you plan to achieve similar success at the employer’s company
  • Your professional values and how they align with the company’s values and goals

Here are 6 skills to describe in an account executive cover letter

  • Developing business plans
  • Writing sales reports
  • Managing sales cycles
  • Client communication
  • Client relationship management
  • Product presentation

Here is an example of how to describe an accomplishment in an account executive cover letter

In my role as an account executive for [Former Employer], I worked with three of the company’s biggest clients whose business deals accounted for more than 30% of annual sales revenue. Through my quarterly product presentations, I was able to raise these revenues by an average of 15% each quarter, as well as sign each of these major clients on for five-year sales contracts.

5. How to conclude your account executive cover letter concisely and persuasively

The last but equally as important element for your account executive cover letter is a concise and persuasive conclusion . This conclusion should include:

  • The best time and days to contact you
  • The best method for contacting you (phone call, email, etc.)
  • When you plan to follow up
  • A formal sign-off

Here is an example of a strong conclusion from an account executive cover letter

I am beyond grateful for your time and consideration, and hope to hear from you shortly regarding this position. The best way to reach me on weekdays is at (123) 456-7890 between the hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., or at [email protected] on weekends. Knowing that you have an incredibly busy schedule, I do plan to follow up next Tuesday if I have not heard back.

Many Thanks,

You should also mention where you found the job posting. In your opening paragraph, it's important to grab the reader's attention. You can do this by briefly mentioning a key achievement or experience that makes you a strong candidate for the position. For example, "As an Account Executive with X years of experience in driving sales and managing client relationships, I was excited to see your job posting on XYZ. In my current role at ABC Company, I've managed to increase sales by 30% over the past year." This shows you're experienced, results-driven, and enthusiastic about the opportunity.

The best way for Account Executives to end a cover letter is by summarizing their interest in the role, reiterating their relevant skills, and expressing eagerness for the next steps. A strong closing statement could be: "I am excited about the opportunity to bring my unique blend of sales and account management skills to your team and am confident that I can help drive further success for your organization. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing this opportunity further." This is your chance to grab the hiring manager's attention, so make it compelling. 3. Relevant Experience: Highlight your most relevant experiences and achievements. As an Account Executive, you should focus on your sales achievements, key accounts you've managed, and any revenue growth you've contributed to. Use specific numbers and percentages to quantify your success. 4. Skills: Highlight the skills that make you a strong candidate for the role. This could include communication skills, relationship building, negotiation, strategic planning, and knowledge of CRM software. Tailor this section to the job description, focusing on the skills they're looking for. 5. Understanding of the Company: Show that you've done your research and understand the company and its products or services. Discuss how you can contribute to their mission or goals. 6. Closing: In your closing paragraph, express your enthusiasm for the role and the opportunity to interview. This is also a good place to mention any connections you have to the company or industry. 7. Professional Closing: End with a professional closing like "Sincerely" or "Best regards," followed by your name. Remember, your cover letter should complement your resume, not duplicate it. It's your chance to tell a story about your career and show why you're a great fit for the role.

Despite there being nearly 90,000 account executive job posts on Indeed alone, it is not easy to find the job of your dreams as the competition is fierce. Fortunately, you can take advantage of the cover letter samples and templates you will find in this article to outshine your peers.

Why Does Your Account Executive Cover Letter Matter?

You’re perhaps wondering why you need to spend time brainstorming and crafting a cover letter that can showcase all your accomplishments and skills. Cover letters are an essential part of the job application process, particularly at the executive level. A cover letter allows you to speak directly to the company to convey just why you are an excellent candidate for the open position.

You get to introduce yourself and show the company how you can get the results it is looking for. With a great cover letter, you can captivate the attention of the hiring manager by outlining how you plan to generate a great return for the company.

With this application document, you can leverage storytelling to grab your audience’s attention. For instance, you can include relevant experiences regarding your previous team’s accomplishments that led to client satisfaction and how you increased sales or customer retention rates.

Your account executive cover letter should demonstrate your hands-on experience. Make sure to include real-life examples that prove you can handle the position that is being advertised and its responsibilities.

Essential Components of Your Account Executive Cover Letter

Now that you understand how important an account executive cover letter is, you might be wondering what exactly an outstanding cover letter should look like. Below are the essential components of a perfect cover letter.

  • Header. A well-organized cover letter should have a header. This section includes your contact details and the information of the company advertising the position. If possible, address your letter directly to the hiring manager.
  • Opening paragraph. Your first paragraph should hook the reader’s attention. After a brief introduction in which you express your interest in the position, proceed to state in a  direct and concise manner what makes you the perfect candidate for the job. If possible, back this up with result-based achievements from your previous roles.
  • First body paragraph. What key skills do you have that can add value to the company? Focus on hard and soft skills that are relevant to the job description. For example, if you include negotiation or communication skills, create a compelling narrative to show how these abilities have helped you get results in the past.
  • Second body paragraph. You’ve already shown the team of recruiters how you accomplished different goals for the companies you worked for. In this paragraph, focus on explaining how you will do that for this company.
  • Closing paragraph. In the closing paragraph, you should thank the hiring manager for their consideration and time. At this point, you can invite them for an in-depth discussion regarding your skills or suitability for the role.

5 Tips for Writing a Strong Account Executive Cover Letter

Are you having writer’s block and struggling to demonstrate your skills and qualifications in your letter? The following five tips will help you compose a cover letter that highlights your strengths and paints you in the best possible light.

  • Tell a story. To secure an account executive role, you need to demonstrate how well you’ve managed client relationships in previous positions. You can do this by weaving a story that shows how you effectively communicated with customers and built relationships with them on behalf of a previous employer.
  • Demonstrate your leadership qualities. The company you are applying to is looking for a professional who can get results and guide others. You can demonstrate your leadership skills by providing examples of how you coordinated a team of employees to improve customer retention for a company.
  • Quantify your accomplishments. As an account executive, your success and worth are measured in numbers. You need to present concrete examples backed with statistics to present a vivid picture of your performance in previous companies. For example, you could write about how you increased sales by a certain percentage in your previous role.
  • Cover different skills. Discuss any skill you possess that will help you perform your job duties exceptionally. Good hard skills to mention in your account executive cover letter are project management and budgeting. You can then add soft skills, such as relationship building.
  • Edit and proofread. Before you submit your cover letter, you need to edit your work and check for errors. Don’t allow grammar mistakes to rob you of this exciting opportunity. Use a spellchecker and software like Grammarly or Hemingway App to ensure your letter flows well and is free of typos.

Account Executive Resume Guide

A person writing on a notebook on a white table next to a laptop. Account Executive Cover Letter

To boost your chances of landing a job as an account executive, pair your job-winning cover letter with an impressive resume. A resume is an essential part of your job application that shows your top qualifications and professional strengths.

Why Does Your Account Executive Resume Matter?

Your account executive resume is a document that contains the highlights of your professional profile and work experience. It allows the hiring manager to quickly ascertain if you are a candidate worth considering.

As such, you should view your resume as the perfect tool to highlight exceptional qualifications that make you the ideal candidate for the advertised position. If used correctly, your resume can give you an edge over the competition and help you create a great first impression. Below, we show you the different parts of a successful resume and give you tips on how to write a winning CV .

Essential Components of Your Account Executive Resume

Just like with a cover letter, there are a few components that every successful resume should have. Below, we dive deeper into each section of a resume.

  • Header. The header of your resume is where all your personal details are listed, including your name, address, email address, and phone number. These days, many candidates also include links to their LinkedIn profile in the header.
  • Summary statement. A summary statement is a short professional bio used to highlight the candidate’s main qualifications and strengths. In one or two sentences, you should be able to tell the reader why you are a suited candidate. The summary statement typically goes toward the top of the page, right under the header. This means that the hiring manager will lay eyes on it first, so make sure it is as strong as possible.
  • Work experience. Start the work experience section with your most recent position or your current job. Make sure to include your responsibilities as well as any significant achievements. When describing duties and accomplishments, use action words like “increased”, “improved”, or “implemented”.
  • Education. In this section, you will list any applicable academic qualifications. You want to include any bachelor’s degrees , master’s degrees, certifications, or even courses that are relevant to the position. For each entry, mention the name of the program, institution, GPA, and date of completion or graduation.
  • Skills. The skills section should list the skills that make you a good fit for the job. Focus on industry-specific abilities but also add generic skills if you feel they strengthen your candidacy.

5 Tips for Writing a Strong Account Executive Resume

Now that you are familiar with the basic structure of an account executive resume, here are some tips for creating a CV that makes an impression.

  • Use keywords. A strategic use of keywords will help your resume be noticed by applicant tracking systems. The keywords you need to use are those in the job description. For instance, if the description asks for an account executive with a Master’s in Business Administration and five years of experience, so want to make sure your resume contains the terms “master’s degree” and “five years of experience”.
  • Craft a compelling summary statement. The professional summary is your chance to hook the reader and entice them to continue reading your resume. Crafting a powerful summary statement requires reflecting on what you bring to the table and what the company needs. The end result should be a description of your professional profile that shows how your skills apply to the role that is being advertised.
  • Use numbers to describe your achievements. Rely on concrete figures when describing your duties and accomplishments in the work experience section. • Showcasing relevance:   Tailoring your cover letter allows you to emphasize the most relevant skills, experiences, and achievements that align with the specific job requirements. This immediately captures the attention of the   talent acquisition   team, recruiters, or human resources reps.
  • Demonstrating research:   A good cover letter conveys your understanding of the organization's needs and illustrates how you can contribute to its success, signaling to potential employers that you've done your homework.
  • Telling your story:   Each job application is unique, and a tailored cover letter enables you to craft a personalized narrative. It lets you connect your professional journey with the role's specific challenges and opportunities, making your application more compelling.
  • Highlighting cultural fit:   Your cover letter allows you to address the company's values, mission, and culture. By aligning your experiences and values with those of the organization, you demonstrate a cultural fit and convey your enthusiasm for being part of the team.
  • Addressing specific requirements:   Job postings often include   specific skills or qualifications   the employer is seeking. Tailoring your cover letter enables you to address these requirements directly, showcasing how you possess the desired attributes and can meet the company's expectations.

Cover letter tips

A great cover letter should reflect your professional profile and personality. However, no matter what your cover letter's content is, the tips below will help ensure the message you want to convey is clear and easily accessible to hiring managers.

  • Keep it concise:   Aim for a cover letter length of 250-400 words. Be succinct in presenting your qualifications and experiences.
  • Use a clean layout:   Opt for a professional and clean cover letter format with a standard font (e.g., Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman) and a font size of 10-12 points.
  • Include   contact information :   Provide your contact information at the top of the cover letter, including your name, phone number, and professional email address.
  • Use   headers   and sections:   Organize your cover letter into clear sections with headers such as Introduction, Work Experience, and Achievements for easy readability.
  • Maintain a professional tone:   Keep the tone of your cover letter professional and upbeat. Avoid overly casual language, and focus on showcasing your skills and experiences.
  • Use keywords:   Incorporate relevant keywords from the Agile Project Manager   job description   and company website into your cover letter. This can help your application pass through   applicant tracking systems (ATS)   used by many employers.
  • Highlight achievements with bullet points:   Use bullet points to list specific accomplishments or notable projects. This makes it easier for the reader to grasp your accomplishments quickly.
  • Use quantifiable data:   Whenever possible, include quantifiable data to demonstrate the impact of your achievements. Numbers provide concrete evidence of your contributions.
  • Match company tone:   Adapt your writing style to match the tone of the company and industry. Research the company's culture to strike the right balance between professionalism and personality.
  • Showcase company knowledge:   Demonstrate your understanding of the company by referencing its values, mission, or recent achievements. Explain why you're excited about the opportunity to work for this specific organization.
  • Address employment gaps (if applicable):   If you have employment gaps, briefly address them in a positive light, focusing on any skills or experiences gained during those periods.
  • Proofread   thoroughly:   Eliminate typos and grammatical errors by proofreading your cover letter multiple times. Consider using tools like Grammarly to catch any overlooked mistakes and ensure your English (or any language you use) is correct.
  • Include a   call to action :   Conclude your cover letter with a call to action, expressing your enthusiasm for the opportunity and indicating your readiness for an interview.
  • Follow submission instructions:   If there are specific instructions for submitting the cover letter, such as naming conventions or document formats, ensure that you adhere to them.
  • Save as a PDF:   Save your cover letter as a PDF before submitting it. This ensures that the formatting remains consistent across different devices and software.

While understanding the correct steps to write a cover letter is crucial to your professional success, knowing what mistakes to avoid is equally important. The best cover letter can easily be made useless by a tiny blunder. Avoid making the mistakes listed below; you will be halfway to your new job.

  • Don't use a generic greeting:   Avoid generic salutations like "To whom it may concern," “Dear sir or madam, “ or “Dear hiring manager.“ Whenever possible, address the cover letter to a specific person.
  • Don't repeat your resume:   An effective cover letter should complement your resume, not duplicate it. Focus on specific experiences and achievements that showcase your qualifications for the role.
  • Don't exaggerate or lie:   Be truthful in your cover letter. Exaggerating your qualifications or providing false information can harm your chances and damage your professional reputation.
  • Don't use unprofessional email addresses:   Ensure that the email address you use in your contact information is professional. Avoid using nicknames or unprofessional terms.
  • Don't include irrelevant information:   Keep your cover letter focused on the job. Avoid including unrelated personal details or experiences that do not contribute to your suitability for the role.
  • Don't use jargon unnecessarily:   While demonstrating your knowledge is essential, avoid unnecessary jargon that may confuse the reader. Use clear and straightforward language.
  • Don't sound overly eager:   Expressing enthusiasm is positive but can easily feel unauthentic if overdone.

Remember, the goal of a practical cover letter is to present your qualifications in a clear, organized, and compelling manner while adhering to professional standards.

Tell your story

When applying for a job as an account executive, you need to show how you’ve successfully managed client relationships in the past. You’ll be managing clients on a regular basis, so it’s important that you demonstrate this skill to the hiring manager in the cover letter.

To do this, talk about how well you communicate with people from all walks of life. The more examples of each type of communication (written and verbal) that you can provide in your cover letter the better!

Emphasize Your Accomplishments

Your cover letter should do the heavy lifting in explaining why you’re a good fit for the job. Don’t worry about describing every little detail about your past accomplishments, just highlight the top three or four. You can provide more details in your resume.

Show your leadership qualities

When applying for a job as an account executive, you need to show how well you work with people. You’ll be managing client relationships, dealing with internal teams and pitching ideas. So it’s important that you show your strong leadership skills to the hiring manager in the cover letter.

To do this, talk about how effective you are at problem solving and developing plans of action. The more examples of each type of leadership (problem solving and development) that you can provide in your cover letter the better.

Check for Errors

Employers look for strong communication skills in an account executive. Ensure your cover letter is error-free and features excellent grammar by taking the time to read it aloud and check it against a style guide or reputable website such as English Proficiency Tests Online.

If you’re worried about errors, it may be worth investing in an editing service to review your work before submitting. Or, you can request a one-on-one coaching session with a professional who specializes in this area of expertise to identify any errors you may have missed on your own.

What should your sales account executive cover letter look like - formatting and organizing your information

Have you ever wondered what are the must-have sections you need to include in your sales account executive cover letter? Our builder sets those up for you with:

  • Header - dedicated to your contact information, the role you're applying for, and the date (don't forget to include your name);
  • Greeting and opening paragraph - to create a personalized and memorable experience for recruiters;
  • Body paragraph - emphasizing your skill set and knowledge that aligns with the role and helps you to stand out;
  • Closing paragraph - leaving a great impression and ending with an optional signature.

Use a cover letter template to discover the best formatting for your sales account executive cover letter: that is single-spaced paragraphs and wrapping your content in a one-inch margin.

Ensure that both your resume and sales account executive cover letter are in the same font . Stand apart from the crowd by using modern, yet simple fonts, like Chivo and Rubik, instead of the overused Arial and Times New Roman.

Did you know that the Applicant Tracker System (or ATS) won't be assessing your sales account executive cover letter? Instead, submit your profile in PDF to recruiters to keep the same formatting and the design intact.

The top sections on a sales account executive cover letter

  • Header: The header should include the sales executive’s contact information, ensuring the recruiter can easily reach out for an interview, conveying professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Greeting: A personalized greeting shows the applicant has done their research to address the correct hiring manager, establishing a connection from the outset and demonstrating their networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Introduction: The introduction must hook the reader with a concise statement of the sales executive’s relevant experience and a quantifiable achievement, reflecting their ability to drive sales and immediately contribute to the company's goals.
  • Body Paragraph(s): This section should showcase specific sales strategies the candidate has successfully implemented, their ability to meet and exceed sales targets, and their skill in managing client relationships, providing concrete evidence of their sales prowess.
  • Closing and Call to Action: The closing should reiterate the applicant's interest in the position and suggest a meeting or call to discuss how their expertise aligns with the company's needs, displaying their proactive approach and the sales acumen to close the 'deal' on securing an interview.

Key qualities recruiters search for in a candidate’s cover letter

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets: Demonstrates effectiveness in generating revenue and success in past roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills: Essential for establishing trust and rapport with potential clients.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal: Critical for articulating value propositions and negotiating deals.
  • Deep understanding of the sales process and customer lifecycle: Indicates the ability to manage sales from lead generation to closing.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn about new products or industries: Shows openness to growth and the ability to pivot strategies as needed.
  • Experience with CRM software and sales reporting tools: Exhibits organizational skills and the ability to leverage technology to track and measure performance.

The sales account executive cover letter salutation: how to address hiring managers

After covering the format of your sales account executive cover letter, let's look at the salutation.

Back in the day, the cordial "To whom it may concern" or "Dear Sir/Madam", might have worked out fine.

But, nowadays, your cover letter should approach hiring managers on a more personal basis.

So, what to do about your cover letter salutation ?

If you've messaged the recruiters and are on a first name basis or a more formal one, use the hiring manager's name in the greeting (e.g. "Dear Sophie," "Dear Ms. Givens", or "Dear Mr. Everett,").

Always aim to make the effort to find out the name of the hiring manager, who'd be assessing your application. Search on LinkedIn, double-check the advert on the corporate website, or message the brand on social media to find out more about the role.

If you can't find the hiring manager's name (and still want to sound professional), use "Dear HR Team,", "Dear Hiring Manager,", or the likes.

List of salutations you can use

  • Dear [Hiring Manager's Name],
  • Dear [Mr./Ms. Last Name],
  • Dear Hiring Committee,
  • Dear [Department] Team,
  • Dear [Company Name] Recruiter,
  • Dear [Position Title] Search Committee,

What to include in those first two sentences, or your sales account executive cover letter introduction

Have you ever wondered what the best way is to present your profile in the sales account executive cover letter introduction ?

There's no right or wrong answer if you're being concise and authentic to yourself.

Some professionals start their sales account executive cover letter by:

  • congratulating the company - focusing on something impressive, whether that's an award, an industry-leading project, or a key event;
  • aligning their passion for the field or industry with the job - if you're enthusiastic about what you do, you'd thus grow your skill set and value as a professional.

The middle or body of your sales account executive cover letter body: a great instrument to tell a story

Now that you've set the right tone with the greeting and introduction of your sales account executive cover letter, it's time to get down to business .

Hear us out, the body of your sales account executive cover letter is the best storytelling instrument you have, in your job-hunting arsenal.

Writing the next three to six paragraphs, take the time to reassess the advert to discover job-crucial requirements.

Next, choose one accomplishment that covers those key skills and talents.

Use precisely that achievement to tell an exciting story of how you match the ideal candidate profile.

In the undertones of your story or sales account executive cover letter body, hint at the difference you'd make and sell your application as the perfect one for the job.

Closing paragraph basics: choose between a promise and a call to action

You've done all the hard work - congratulations! You've almost reached the end of your sales account executive cover letter .

But how do you ensure recruiters, who have read your application this far, remember you?

Most sales account executive professionals end their cover letter with a promise - hinting at their potential and what they plan on achieving if they're hired.

Another option would be to include a call for follow-up, where you remind recruiters that you're very interested in the opportunity (and look forward to hearing from them, soon).

Choose to close your sales account executive cover letter in the way that best fits your personality.

What could you write about in your sales account executive cover letter when you have no experience

Candidates with zero professional experience often struggle to write their sales account executive cover letter .

You may lack experience, but your application could still be impressive when you focus on your strengths.

Consider your most relevant talents (and/or one achievement) that align with the role and help you stand out.

Perhaps you spent every summer volunteering at your local dog pound - think of the job-relevant skills this experience taught you.

Sharing your tangible career goals is another good strategy to stand out.

Key takeaways

Writing your sales account executive cover letter has never been easier, so remember to:

  • Select a sales account executive cover letter template that automatically meets industry formatting (e.g. has one-inch margins, is single-spaced, is in PDF, etc.);
  • Make your sales account executive cover letter personal by mentioning the recruiters' first or last name;
  • Within the introduction, describe what you like best about the company in no more than two sentences;
  • Use your sales account executive cover letter body to tell a story of your greatest achievement, backed up by job-relevant skills and technologies;
  • If you have no professional experience, be honest about it in your sales account executive cover letter, but also write about your unique talents.

Fact Sheet on FTC’s Proposed Final Noncompete Rule

Facebook

  • Competition
  • Office of Policy Planning
  • Bureau of Competition

The following outline provides a high-level overview of the FTC’s proposed final rule :

  • Specifically, the final rule provides that it is an unfair method of competition—and therefore a violation of Section 5 of the FTC Act—for employers to enter into noncompetes with workers after the effective date.
  • Fewer than 1% of workers are estimated to be senior executives under the final rule.
  • Specifically, the final rule defines the term “senior executive” to refer to workers earning more than $151,164 annually who are in a “policy-making position.”
  • Reduced health care costs: $74-$194 billion in reduced spending on physician services over the next decade.
  • New business formation: 2.7% increase in the rate of new firm formation, resulting in over 8,500 additional new businesses created each year.
  • This reflects an estimated increase of about 3,000 to 5,000 new patents in the first year noncompetes are banned, rising to about 30,000-53,000 in the tenth year.
  • This represents an estimated increase of 11-19% annually over a ten-year period.
  • The average worker’s earnings will rise an estimated extra $524 per year.
