There are four opportunities a year when you can sit case study exams – February, May, August, and November . Exams within each window will be available for three days, from Wednesday to Friday.

CIMA August 2023 Case Studies

Students sitting the August 2023 case study exam have the advantage of the pre-seen materials being released a few months back, due to the fact that they were also used for the May 2023 exams.

This gives students plenty of time to PREPARE meticulously and get to know the pre-seen materials inside out.

Common Mistakes made in CIMA Case Studies

Given the time you have to prepare for the August case study exam there is no excuse not to be prepared and ready for exam day! Here is a reminder of the common mistakes students tend to make on exam day.

Too Much Theory – keep your answers relevant to the scenario.
Not Answering the Question – understand what the question is asking you.
Poor Presentation – keep your paragraphs neat, short and snappy.

Pre-seen analysis pack

The pre-seen is at the core of every case study. To pass you MUST fully understand the company and its industry .

Why? Because the examiner expects you to apply EVERYTHING to the pre-seen scenario. It’s not about knowing the theory anymore (you’ve proved you can do that in the OT exams) it’s about showing how that theory relates to the pre-seen company.

And yet…

Almost every post-exam report the examiner notes that people are doing poorly because they are not applying answers to the pre-seen.

You must complete both practice exams and one of the mock exams and send them to your allocated marker by the deadlines set out in the course schedule.

You must not copy the mock exam solutions. If you do so this will invalidate your pass guarantee.

You must achieve an average mark of at least 30% in your submitted practice and mock exams. This is to ensure you are putting in enough effort.

You must attend or watch the recorded versions of the masterclasses and make notes on the pass guarantee form.

Use the pass guarantee form to document your key learning points throughout your studies, submit within 1 week of the final exam.

You must confirm that you have read and understood the pass guarantee terms.

2. Wait for all of the pages to load , this can sometimes take a couple of minutes depending on the size of the document (scroll to the last page to ensure that every page loads).
