Natural Resources Essay: Our survival has always wholly depended on the natural resources of the Earth. The natural resources are the blessing of Mother Nature that has provided us with abundant elements to make our life comfortable and prosperous. Natural resources are all those things that are readily present in the environment like air, water, sunlight, wood, coal, etc. Most of these natural resources are present on Earth’s surface (or reach Earth’s surface like sunlight). Still, some natural resources are also hidden below the Earth’s surface, which we have eventually reached and used to benefit us.

Long Essay on Natural Resources 500 words in English

Human life is unimaginable without natural resources, and it is precise because of these resources that any form of life sustained on this planet with comfort. Natural resources are anything and everything obtained from nature and used by us, starting from elemental air, water, and sunlight to even organic elements like fossil fuels, minerals, timber, etc.

Natural resources that are obtained from living organisms or are eventually formed because of living organisms are called Biotic elements, like forests, birds, animals, fishes, or other marine organisms, fossil fuels (because they are formed because of the decay of organic materials), etc. Natural resources that refer to the non-living elements of nature are called Abiotic resources. Examples of abiotic resources are sunlight, wind, tide, soil, minerals, etc.

Natural elements are present everywhere around the world but not equally distributed. Humans have learned efficient ways in which they can use the natural resources present in their region for their benefit. Like in India, a variety of soil and humid weather has allowed the prosperous growth of agriculture. The areas of the country that are surrounded by sea eventually developed advanced skills in fishing.

Some examples of how we use our natural resources are, using of water for drinking and production of hydro-electric power, sunlight is necessary for plant growth and also providing us heat and vitamins, plants are our primary source of oxygen and food, coal is used for electricity production and as a fuel for vehicles, etc.

With trade and commerce came globalization, and now we are dynamically evolving to find ways in which we can modify methods of using natural resources to create products to serve us better. But we have to remember that not all resources are unlimitedly present in our ecosystem. If we are not careful about the consumption of these resources, then they will eventually exhaust, then we might not have an alternative to survive without those.

The resources like solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass are called renewable resources because they are present abundantly in the world and are self-replenishing in nature. And the resources like fossil fuels, iron, freshwater, coal, nuclear elements, etc. that took million years for the formation and can eventually perish (cannot be reproduced) are called non-renewable resources.

Hence, it is essential to preserve resources so that they can be present in the future for us and our succeeding generation’s use and benefit. Everyone needs to know natural resources because our survival depends on those. We also need to educate and make people aware of the hazardous effect of the absence of these resources. We should preach and practice the ways of Essay on Conservation of Natural Resources .

Essay on Natural Resources

Short Essay on Natural Resources 150 words in English

Natural resources are the blessings of nature to its children, living beings that have not only made our survival possible but also made our life comfortable and nourished. Some examples of natural resources are sunlight, air, timber, coal, plants, food, animals, water, natural gases, etc. The natural resources can be classified as Biotic (forest, animals, birds, fish, fossil fuels, etc.) and Abiotic or Non-living (water, minerals, air, soil, sunlight, etc.) resources.

Even though many natural resources are present in the environment in abundance, some resources can ultimately perish. These are called Renewable and Non-Renewable resources, respectively. Hence, we should be careful about our non-renewable natural resources so that they do not exhaust.

We can obtain this by differentiating our necessities from luxuries and spend natural resources in a calculated manner. It is our responsibility as the responsible citizens of this planet to be concerned about the conservation of these natural resources and contribute to the cause by doing our part in saving. we will soonly update Natural Resources Essay in Hindi, Urdu, Kannada and Marathi.

What are Natural Resources?

Natural Resources are resources which are present in nature independent of human actions.

These are the resources that are created naturally by the environment, without any help from humans. Soil, stone, sunlight, air, plants, animals, fossil fuels, etc. are all natural resources.

In simple language, natural resources are naturally occurring materials which are useful to humankind. They can also be useful in a variety of ways such as in technological, economic or social contexts. These resources include building, clothing materials, food, water, fertilisers and geothermal energy. Natural resources were traditionally within the purview of the natural sciences.

Essay on Natural Resources in 100 Words

Natural resources are parts of the natural world that are useful to humans. Renewable resources are those that can be swiftly replenished, these include soil, water, and air., Non-renewable resources are those that need time to recover, such as minerals, oil, natural gas, etc.

One should note that the survival of all life on Earth depends on natural resources. However, the usage of natural resources in excess use can cause ecosystem disruption. Many nations are taking action these days to protect their natural resources. Natural resources shouldn’t be used for purposes outside our needs. In order to preserve non-renewable resources, we should utilise renewable resources more frequently than non-renewable ones.

Essay on Natural Resources in 150 Words

The organic aspects of nature that contribute to our way of life are known as natural resources. For survival, we rely on natural resources. Natural resources include things like air, water, soil, minerals, crops, etc. Resources like minerals, oil, and other resources are found in non-living organisms and take eons to regenerate.

The distribution of natural resources is not even. Resources like these are also the primary driver of international trade relations for many nations. However, with time, these natural resources have now been overused by the human mankind beyond their limits.

However, the unrestricted exploitation of natural resources is a challenge for all nations these days. To control this, a lot of nations are emphasising garbage recycling and employing more renewable resources than non-renewable ones.

Sustainable development is the use of natural resources for current requirements without wasting them while keeping an eye on the future. It refers to the wise use of natural resources without sacrificing what coming generations will need.

Essay on Natural Resources in 200 Words

Natural resources are materials found in the environment that humans use to survive.  From the very start, humans have been dependent on these resources. While some of these resources can be restored more rapidly than others, some require more time. Resources like sunlight, water, air, and other renewable resources are readily available and have higher recovery rates than consumption rates.

On the other hand, the formation and processing of non-renewable resources, such as minerals, oil, and natural gas, take a long time. Even the usage rate of these non-renewable resources is higher as compared to the renewable resources. While some natural resources are used immediately, others must first undergo processing.

Even while renewable resources are available in huge quantities, they should also be used responsibly. Both renewable and non-renewable resources require time to be created and processed. Therefore, it is very important for humans to use these resources in a limited quantity and leave some for future generations.

With time, humans are using these resources excessively. With the ever-increasing population, humans have already created a huge impact on the environment. To begin, humans are continuously polluting the air, water and noise. Buildings are being constructed on more land. The land is becoming less valuable in this way. Humans are soon becoming the biggest reason behind depleting natural resources, such as land, water, and air.

Therefore, we mustn’t undervalue these resources. The moment has come for us to recognise the importance of using these resources sustainably.

Short Essay: Natural Resources

Natural resources are materials or components that can be found within the environment that offer economic and ecological benefits. These resources, which include water, minerals, forests, and fossil fuels, are foundational to human society and the overall health of our planet. Writing a short essay on natural resources involves examining their importance, conservation, and the challenges they face. This guide will help you craft a focused and informative essay on this critical topic.

Table of Contents

Introduction

Begin your essay with a compelling introduction that outlines the importance of natural resources. You might choose to open with a striking fact, a question, or a brief anecdote that highlights the significance of natural resources in everyday life.

Conclude your essay by summarizing the key points discussed. Reflect on the overarching significance of natural resources and reinforce the call for responsible management and conservation. End with a thought-provoking statement or a call to action that encourages further thought or engagement.

Natural Resources Essay Example #1

Minerals are one of the most crucial natural resources. They are found in rocks, soil, and other geological formations. The extraction of minerals is critical for the production of a wide range of goods, including electronics, construction materials, and vehicles. Minerals such as iron, copper, and gold are in high demand, and their value has been increasing over the years. However, the extraction of minerals can have significant environmental impacts. Mining activities can lead to soil erosion, water pollution, and habitat destruction. Therefore, it is essential to manage mineral resources sustainably.

Fossil fuels are also significant natural resources. They include coal, oil, and natural gas. Fossil fuels are used to generate electricity, power transportation, and heat buildings. However, the combustion of fossil fuels leads to the emission of greenhouse gases, which contribute to climate change. Therefore, there is a need to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and transition to renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, are sustainable and have a lower environmental impact.

In conclusion, natural resources are crucial for economic development and environmental conservation. Minerals, fossil fuels, forests, water, and wildlife are some of the essential natural resources. However, the sustainable management of natural resources is necessary to ensure their long-term viability. It is essential to balance economic development with environmental conservation, and sustainable management practices are crucial for achieving this balance. We must take urgent action to manage natural resources sustainably and ensure a better future for generations to come.

Natural Resources Essay Example #2

Natural resources are a vital aspect of human existence, providing the foundation for our survival and the basis for our economic and social development. These resources refer to materials or substances that occur naturally in the environment and are used by humans for production or consumption. They can be found in various forms, from minerals and water to air and timber. This essay will explore the concept of natural resources, their types, and their significance to human life.

Natural resources can be classified into two main categories: renewable and non-renewable resources. Renewable resources are those that can be replenished or regenerated over time, such as solar energy, wind energy, and timber. These resources are considered sustainable as they can be used without depleting them entirely. On the other hand, non-renewable resources are those that cannot be replenished or regenerated, such as fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas) and some minerals (gold, silver, and diamonds). These resources are finite and will eventually become depleted, making them unsustainable.

The significance of natural resources to human life cannot be overstated, as they provide the foundation for our economic and social development. For example, the extraction and use of natural resources have contributed significantly to economic growth and development in many countries. The use of timber, minerals, and oil has led to the creation of industries and jobs, while the use of water and soil has facilitated agriculture and food production. However, the exploitation of natural resources also has negative consequences, including environmental degradation, pollution, and climate change. Therefore, the sustainable management of natural resources is essential to ensure their preservation and the well-being of future generations.

Natural Resources Essay Example #3

Natural resources are the basis of our existence, and they are essential for human survival. One of the most important natural resources is water, without which life on earth would not be possible. Water is used for a wide range of activities, such as drinking, agriculture, and industrial processes. The air we breathe is another crucial resource that we often take for granted. The air we breathe contains oxygen, which is essential for our survival. The earth’s minerals, such as iron, copper, and gold, are also essential resources used in various industries. Forests and wildlife are also vital resources that provide food, shelter, and other necessities to human beings.

In conclusion, natural resources are essential for our survival and economic development. However, their overuse and depletion can have negative environmental and social impacts. It is crucial that we use these resources sustainably and reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels. By protecting and conserving natural resources, we can ensure a healthy planet and a better future for ourselves and future generations.

If we look around, we can list many of them, like water, sunlight, flora and fauna, air etc., and we can't think of a world without these resources. Here are some sample essays on natural resources.

Natural Resources Essay

100 Word Essay On Natural Resources

Every living thing in the world needs resources to thrive, and nature is itself the epicentre of these resources. These gifts from nature make life on earth easy and comfortable. Centuries back, we humans were on the track of development and are still developing. We have found many hidden natural resources through this journey and used them widely. Today the population is many times more than the previous centuries, and our consumption has increased.

It is interesting to note that natural resources are divided into two, namely renewable and non-renewable. Renewable resources, for example, sunlight and wind, get renewed as they are consumed. On the other hand, non-renewable resources, for instance, coal and petroleum, take more time to replenish. So we need to use the resources wisely.

200 Word Essay On Natural Resources

No one can deny that we all depend on the resources around us. We breathe the air around us, plants use sunlight to make their supplements, and animals consume food from the forest. These all show how living organisms are so dependent on natural resources. Most natural resources are found on the earth's surface, and as civilisations grew, they explored the land and discovered resources hidden inside the planet. Since then, we have used many resources like Coal, Gold, Natural gas, uranium etc. And today, we are not using them but are rapidly exploiting them.

Types Of Resources

Some resources are abundantly found on earth, like water and air. These resources can be accessed when needed and are primarily available, called renewable resources. These resources are less likely to be depleted but can be contaminated, making them less favourable to consumption.

Another type of resource, which is available on earth in limited quantities, is termed non-renewable resources. These resources are limited and tend to exhaust over time.

Another resource category is Biotic and Abiotic resources, which means resources from living and non-living elements.

The current resource consumption rate is alarming, and if it is continuous, the world may run out of resources in the coming centuries.

500 Word Essay On Natural Resources

A natural resource is not anything complicated. Simply put, everything taken from the Earth is considered a natural resource. Sunlight, water, coal, natural gas, minerals, and even air play a role. Everything included here is regarded as a natural resource. These resources are necessary for the survival of life on earth. Energy is one of the most important products of resources and we humans extract energy from almost all of the available resources to meet our demands. Solar energy, wind energy, and hydro energy are some of them.

Types Of Natural Resources

While each natural resource has unique classifications and applications, they may be roughly divided into two groups: renewable and nonrenewable.

Renewable | Those natural resources are considered renewable if they can be readily replenished and there is an abundance of them. Sunlight, water, air, soil, biomass, and wood are all examples of such things. However, some of these resources, such as wood and mud, need more time to replenish than others.

Further, they originate from both living and nonliving sources. Renewable resources may be either organic (obtained from living organisms) or inorganic (obtained from nonliving materials).

Nonrenewable | The term "nonrenewable natural resources" refers to resources that cannot be replenished as readily as renewable ones. Not only that, but their regeneration process is prolonged and may take years. Coal, oil, gas, and other similar materials fall under this category.

Moreover, we divided everything into the organic and inorganic classes. Fossil fuel is an example of the nonrenewable organic resources that arise from the decaying remains of formerly living beings. On the other hand, non-living entities like wind, minerals, soil, and land are responsible for forming nonrenewable inorganic resources.

Distribution Of Natural Resources

There is a significant disparity in the world's natural resource distribution. In addition, several minerals and other natural resources may be abundant over the surface. Even though some places get sun, others get hardly any at all. In a similarity, certain areas are abundant in the water while others have plenty of minerals.

Climate and terrain have a pivotal role in determining resource distribution. This asymmetry is the lifeblood of international commerce, serving as the primary connection between nations. Even worse, it has unintended consequences since nations well-endowed with fossil fuels dominate the market and exploit others dependent on them for their energy needs. As a result, affluent countries are expanding their wealth while impoverished nations are sinking further into poverty.

Example Of Natural Resource

Fatu-Hiva rainforest on the Marquesas Islands is an example of an unspoiled natural resource. The forest supplies people with wood, food, water, and shelter for flora and fauna, tribes, and animals. The nutrient cycle between organisms forms food chains and promotes species diversification.

Earth is endowed with abundant natural resources. We can easily conserve them and the world if we utilise them responsibly until we transition entirely to renewable energy sources. Thus, we will use fewer nonrenewable resources. Not to mention, we cannot survive without them, making them quite crucial. In addition, we need to make good use of them and avoid wasting them in any way.

Essay on Conservation of Nature

500+ words essay on conservation of nature.

Nature refers to living plants, air, water, minerals, sunlight, and animals. It makes this Earth a place worth living. We can exist on this planet because of mother nature. We get plenty of natural resources from our planet Earth. But unfortunately, most of the natural resources are getting depleted because of overpopulation and misuse of these resources. If we don’t work to conserve natural resources, all these resources will not exist one day. So, we should understand its value and importance.

Define the Conservation of Nature

Natural resources on Earth include minerals, air, water, soil and wildlife. It contains genes, ecosystems, diversity of species and functions of the environment. It is impossible to exist on this planet without these natural resources. Conservation of nature means taking care of and protecting these resources for future generations.

So, we should conserve these natural resources to maintain an equal balance in our environment. Now, we will discuss the types of resources and how they can be conserved.

Types of Natural Resources

Natural resources can be classified into four categories: Renewable resources, Non-Renewable resources, Biotic and Abiotic.

Renewable Resources: Renewable resources cannot be replenished through natural processes. For example, wind, water, forests, solar energy, etc. These resources can fill by themselves at the same speed they are used. But, we should manage these resources wisely to avoid the depletion of renewable resources.

Non-Renewable Resources: Non-renewable resources are exhaustible resources, which means once they are exhausted, they will take millions of years to form, for example, fossil fuels, minerals, etc.

Biotic: Biotic natural resources come from the ecosphere, including vegetation, animals, and other substances procured from them. It also includes oil, coal and petroleum because they are decayed organic matter.

Abiotic: Abiotic natural resources are generated from non-living and non-organic materials. Examples of abiotic natural resources are land, water, and heavy materials like gold, silver, etc.

Natural resources can also be categorised as stock resources, actual resources, potential resources and reserve resources based on their stage of development.

How to Conserve Nature and Its Resources?

It is necessary to conserve natural resources because many of them are used faster than their production speed. We have discussed a few ways of preserving these resources below:

Consumption of less water: Making a habit of taking shorter showers, closing the tap while brushing our teeth, etc., will help reduce the wastage of water. Also, try to use your dishwasher and washing machine when there is enough load and shift to energy-saving applicants if possible.

Switch off the lights: Make sure to turn off the lights once you leave the room. When there is no use of appliances like air conditioners, coffee-makers, etc., switch them off as they consume electricity in small amounts. LED lights use less amount of electricity compared to standard bulbs. So, try to switch to these alternative options of light.

Usage of renewable energy: Renewable resources have been in practice for centuries. But, in recent years, global warming and climate change forced researchers and scientists to look for other ways to incorporate greenery into our everyday life. The usage of wind energy and solar panels can reduce our dependence on natural gas and reduce the depletion of natural resources.

Recycle: Recycling means reusing materials that are already used. It reduces waste, helping in reducing groundwater and air pollution. Look for a place that recycles items like plastic bottles, aluminium, etc.

Composting means converting scrap food waste into valuable materials for gardening purposes. It enriches the soil and avoids water runoff, which reduces soil erosion. By composting, the need for pesticides can also be cut down, lessening the amount of wastage and pollution produced by food.

Nature comprises everything that surrounds us. The trees, forests, rivers, brooks, soil, and air are all part of nature. Keeping nature and its resources integral is crucial for continuing life on Earth. It would be difficult to imagine life on Earth with a spoiled natural environment.

Therefore, taking appropriate steps to conserve nature must be a priority for the human race. Only human beings can save nature in its purest forms with their power and ability.

Now it is necessary to have knowledge about the need and importance of natural resources as well as spread complete awareness by focusing on its hazardous effects due to the unavailability of these resources. We have provided here some essays on natural resources with detailed knowledgeable information. Essays are divided in two categories; long and short essay on natural resources.

Sample Essay on Natural Resources for Students

Essay 1 (400 words).

Natural resources are those precious gifts for us that are much important for living on this earth. These are air, water, land, trees, wood, soil, minerals, petroleum, metals and sunshine. These resources cannot be created or produced by human being but just can be modified in different manner so that we can use it in better way.

Types of Resources:

Natural resources are mainly divided in two types of categories, these are: Renewal Resources and Non Renewal resources

  • Renewal Resources: Renewal resources are those resources which can be regained and reformed after consumption like water, air, sunlight, land, wood, soil, plants and animals. Some are limited in quantity; these are water, plants, animals and fresh air. Without making managed system of consuming these renewal resources we would not be able to get it back in future for the use of our coming generations.
  • Non renewal resources: Natural resources that cannot be reproduced and are available in fixed amount on earth are referred as Non Renewal resources. On the earth, they are found below the land like minerals, metals, petroleum and coal. All these are in limited stock and very useful and important for living life.

Different resources are used for different purposes:

  • Air is used for wind energy.
  • Water is used for drinking and producing hydroelectric energy.
  • Plants and trees give us vegetables, fruits, cotton, wood and by using wood we can make paper, furniture and house too.
  • Animals give us milk and their skin is used for making lather clothes, shoes, purses, belts, etc.
  • Sunlight is used for making us warm and produces solar energy.
  • Oil is used as fuel for transportation and electricity.
  • Minerals and metals are used for making coins, steel, and jewelry.
  • Coal is used to make electricity.

Conclusion:

Natural resources are too much essential for survival on this earth. Without them we cannot imagine our human life. All resources are either directly or indirectly connected with others.

Some resources are produced from other resources for example oxygen and wood are produced by plants and trees; energy can be produced from wind, water and sunlight in different forms. Various secrets of natural resources are still hidden behind the nature and the earth. No one can get the actual source of it. We should follow preservation method for using these resources in such manner that they could always be available for us in future for many centuries coming ahead.

Essay 2 (600 words)

Introduction

Resources obtained from nature are called natural resources and are very essential for survival on earth for human being. Natural resources are air, water, sunlight, forest, land, rock, soil, petroleum, metal and minerals. Land, sunlight, wind and rock have unlimited availability on the earth.

Apart from these resources, other natural resources are divided in two categories:

  • Renewal Resources: Renewal resources are those which can be reproduced and regenerated by the efforts of people and some kind of extra care. These resources are plants, fresh air, water, land and animals.
  • Non Renewal Resources: Non renewal resources are those which are limited in quantity and never be regained either from earth or by human efforts. These resources are petroleum, coal, minerals and metals.

Apart from these two categories of natural resources, other categories are also defined to differentiate Natural Resources:

Biotic and abiotic resources:

  • Biotic resources : These resources are those natural resources which are obtained from global system and have life-like plants, trees and animals.
  • Abiotic resources : These resources are those natural resources which are non living like, air, water, land, soil, minerals and metals.

This whole world or universe depends on natural resources in different manner. A human life cannot be imagined or possible without these resources. Different resources have their individual importance in a human life like we need oxygen in air for taking breath and only trees produce oxygen by taking carbon dioxide from air. Sunlight gives us heat that is must for our daily requirements.

Plants require land, soil and water to grow and changes in form of fruitful trees. Tree gives us fresh air, fruits, vegetables, wood, etc. By using wood we make paper and different types of furniture. Water is most essential resource after oxygen for human being. Water animals like fish is used to fulfil starvation of many people and other big water animals.

Other natural resources like petroleum, minerals, coal, etc are used for different types of purposes. Different types of energy can be produced by different resources like solar energy can be produced by sun light, hydro electric energy is produced by using water, wind energy is produced by wind, electricity is produced by coal and water is boiled by burning coal to produce electricity.

Minerals and metals are found deep under the ground and used to make coins, gold, steel and many other things that are needed for our daily routine life. Petroleum, the essential resource given by nature is refined and converted into fuel for transportation.

Availability of Natural resources:

Some of these resources are available on the earth since ancient time even from starting of the civilization like air, water, sunlight, land, plants and animals. Rest resources like metals, minerals, coal and petroleum are found due to the efforts of human after civilization. Different types of energy, wood, cotton cloths, leather materials and expensive ornaments were developed using technologies by human as per the need.

Some non renewal resources are very limited and rarely found on this earth like petroleum and metals, some specific places are reserved on earth from where these resources are obtained. In India, around hundred types of minerals are produced at different places which are very important for financial profits at national level, as we export these minerals to other countries and import some other minerals which are not found in India. In case of petroleum, each country has its different percentage of production of petroleum and do import or export of petroleum according to their consumption need.

Effects of destroying natural resources:

Resources that are found in a natural form and are not produced by human being are natural resources. Use and consumption of these resources matters a lot for future of human life. In current situation forest are left in very few quantities because of the increased population (people cut trees to get wood, paper and land for making building over there).

Animals are also killed for the personal need of human-like enjoying food and making leather goods from skin of different animals. If we still do not understand the importance of forests and animals, result will be hazardous for all. Without fresh air and water, human life will be impossible in future. Thus, to avoid this critical situation, we need to grow plants and limit our consumption of resources like water, electricity, oil, etc.

Essay About Nature

Nature refers to the interaction between the physical surroundings around us and the life within it like atmosphere, climate, natural resources, ecosystem, flora, fauna, and humans. Nature is indeed God’s precious gift to Earth. It is the primary source of all the necessities for the nourishment of all living beings on Earth. Right from the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the house we live in is provided by nature. Nature is called ‘Mother Nature’ because just like our mother, she is always nurturing us with all our needs.

Whatever we see around us, right from the moment we step out of our house is part of nature. The trees, flowers, landscapes, insects, sunlight, breeze, everything that makes our environment so beautiful and mesmerizing are part of Nature. In short, our environment is nature. Nature has been there even before the evolution of human beings.

Importance of Nature

If not for nature then we wouldn’t be alive. The health benefits of nature for humans are incredible. The most important thing for survival given by nature is oxygen. The entire cycle of respiration is regulated by nature. The oxygen that we inhale is given by trees and the carbon dioxide we exhale is getting absorbed by trees.

The ecosystem of nature is a community in which producers (plants), consumers, and decomposers work together in their environment for survival. The natural fundamental processes like soil creation, photosynthesis, nutrient cycling, and water cycling, allow Earth to sustain life. We are dependent on these ecosystem services daily whether or not we are aware.

Nature provides us services round the clock: provisional services, regulating services, and non-material services. Provisional services include benefits extracted from nature such as food, water, natural fuels and fibres, and medicinal plants. Regulating services include regulation of natural processes that include decomposition, water purification, pollution, erosion and flood control, and also, climate regulation. Non-material services are the non-material benefits that improve the cultural development of humans such as recreation, creative inspiration from interaction with nature like art, music, architecture, and the influence of ecosystems on local and global cultures.

The interaction between humans and animals, which are a part of nature, alleviates stress, lessens pain and worries. Nature provides company and gives people a sense of purpose.

Studies and research have shown that children especially have a natural affinity with nature. Regular interaction with nature has boosted health development in children. Nature supports their physical and mental health and instills abilities to access risks as they grow.

Role and Importance of Nature

The natural cycle of our ecosystem is vital for the survival of organisms. We all should take care of all the components that make our nature complete. We should be sure not to pollute the water and air as they are gifts of Nature.

Mother nature fosters us and never harms us. Those who live close to nature are observed to be enjoying a healthy and peaceful life in comparison to those who live in urban areas. Nature gives the sound of running fresh air which revives us, sweet sounds of birds that touch our ears, and sounds of breezing waves in the ocean makes us move within.

All the great writers and poets have written about Mother Nature when they felt the exceptional beauty of nature or encountered any saddening scene of nature. Words Worth who was known as the poet of nature, has written many things in nature while being in close communion with nature and he has written many things about Nature. Nature is said to be the greatest teacher as it teaches the lessons of immortality and mortality. Staying in close contact with Nature makes our sight penetrative and broadens our vision to go through the mysteries of the planet earth. Those who are away from nature can’t understand the beauty that is held by Nature. The rise in population on planet earth is leading to a rise in consumption of natural resources.  Because of increasing demands for fuels like Coal, petroleum, etc., air pollution is increasing at a rapid pace.  The smoke discharged from factory units and exhaust tanks of cars is contaminating the air that we breathe. It is vital for us to plant more trees in order to reduce the effect of toxic air pollutants like Carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, etc.

Save Our Nature

Earth’s natural resources are not infinite and they cannot be replenished in a short period. The rapid increase in urbanization has used most of the resources like trees, minerals, fossil fuels, and water. Humans in their quest for a comfortable living have been using the resources of nature mindlessly. As a result, massive deforestation, resultant environmental pollution, wildlife destruction, and global warming are posing great threats to the survival of living beings.

Air that gives us oxygen to breathe is getting polluted by smoke, industrial emissions, automobile exhaust, burning of fossil fuels like coal, coke and furnace oil, and use of certain chemicals. The garbage and wastes thrown here and there cause pollution of air and land.

Sewage, organic wastage, industrial wastage, oil spillage, and chemicals pollute water. It is causing several water-borne diseases like cholera, jaundice and typhoid.

The use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in agriculture adds to soil pollution. Due to the mindless cutting of trees and demolition of greeneries for industrialization and urbanization, the ecological balance is greatly hampered. Deforestation causes flood and soil erosion.

Earth has now become an ailing planet panting for care and nutrition for its rejuvenation. Unless mankind puts its best effort to save nature from these recurring situations, the Earth would turn into an unfit landmass for life and activity.

We should check deforestation and take up the planting of trees at a massive rate. It will not only save the animals from being extinct but also help create regular rainfall and preserve soil fertility. We should avoid over-dependence on fossil fuels like coal, petroleum products, and firewood which release harmful pollutants to the atmosphere. Non-conventional sources of energy like the sun, biogas and wind should be tapped to meet our growing need for energy. It will check and reduce global warming.

Every drop of water is vital for our survival. We should conserve water by its rational use, rainwater harvesting, checking the surface outflow, etc. industrial and domestic wastes should be properly treated before they are dumped into water bodies.

Every individual can do his or her bit of responsibility to help save the nature around us. To build a sustainable society, every human being should practice in heart and soul the three R’s of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. In this way, we can save our nature.

Nature Conservation

Nature conservation is very essential for future generations, if we will damage nature our future generations will suffer.

Nowadays, technological advancement is adversely affecting our nature. Humans are in the quest and search for prosperity and success that they have forgotten the value and importance of beautiful Nature around. The ignorance of nature by humans is the biggest threat to nature. It is essential to make people aware and make them understand the importance of nature so that they do not destroy it in the search for prosperity and success.

On high priority, we should take care of nature so that nature can continue to take care of us. Saving nature is the crying need of our time and we should not ignore it. We should embrace simple living and high thinking as the adage of our lives.

Let’s take a look…

Paragraph on Natural Resources in 100 Words

Natural resources are things we find in nature that help us live. Like water, which we drink and use to clean ourselves. Trees give us wood to build houses and make paper. The sun gives us light and warmth. Oil and coal are dug up from the ground to make cars go and keep our homes warm. Soil helps us grow fruits and vegetables to eat. We must take care of these gifts from Earth so they can last a long time. It’s important to use them wisely and not waste them, so everyone can have enough. (Word count: 100)

Paragraph on Natural Resources in 200 Words

Natural resources are things we find in nature that help us live and grow. Imagine the Earth is a big treasure box; inside, it has air, water, plants, and minerals. These are all gifts from our planet. We breathe air every day to stay alive, and we drink water to keep our bodies working well. Plants are very important because they give us food to eat, like fruits and vegetables. They also give us wood to build houses and paper to draw and write on. Minerals are like special rocks hidden in the ground. People dig them up because they can be turned into things like metal for cars and bikes. Some natural resources, like sunlight and wind, never run out. They are always there for us to use. But we have to be careful with other resources, like water and trees, because if we use too much, they might not be there for us in the future. It’s like when you have a box of crayons; if you don’t share and use them wisely, soon there might not be any left. So, we need to take care of our Earth’s treasures by using them in smart ways and making sure there’s enough for everyone, even when we grow up.

Paragraph on Natural Resources in 250 Words

Natural resources are materials or substances that are found in nature and can be used by people for food, energy, and making things. The Earth is full of these gifts, like water, air, soil, minerals, trees, and animals. Some of these resources, like sunlight and wind, are always there and don’t run out; we call them renewable because they can be used over and over again. Other resources, such as oil, coal, and natural gas, are called non-renewable because they took millions of years to form, and once we use them up, they’re gone for a very long time. Trees are a special kind of resource because they can be renewed by planting new ones, but if we cut down too many too fast, there won’t be enough left, and it takes a long time for new trees to grow big. It’s important for us to use natural resources wisely. This means not wasting things, recycling when we can, and finding ways to use less, especially of those resources that can’t be replaced. By doing this, we make sure there’s enough to go around for everyone now and for people in the future too. We also help protect our planet, keeping it clean and safe for all living things. It’s a big job, but it starts with each one of us making smart choices every day. (Word count: 250)

Essay on ‘Natural resources’

Natural Resources are the ones that occur in nature on their own. It has nothing to do with human work.

Any natural substances that are used by human beings can be termed natural resources.

Types of Natural Resources

  • Natural Resources can be basically of two types.
  • Renewable Natural Resources.
  • Non-renewable Natural Resources.

Renewable Natural Resources are those resources that can be again replaced by nature as soon as we use them. Examples of this are wind, sunlight, etc.

Non-renewable Natural Resources are those that can not be replaced once used. Instead, they are found in nature within fixed numbers. Examples of this are Wood, fossil fuels, etc.

Methods for the conservation of Natural Resources-

  • Natural Resources are always in demand for the fulfilment of the needs of human beings.
  • In the race of human survival, many natural resources have been used. As the population goes on increasing, the need for natural resources also arises.
  • To use the natural resources properly, there is a rule known as 3 Rs. The three R’s stand for Reduce, Reuse, and recycle.
  • By using this rule, not only can we save natural resources but there can be a way to use the same resource more than once.
  • Other ways of saving our natural resources can include methods like using any alternative in place of non-renewable sources.
  • The other best way of conserving natural resources includes teaching people about the importance of natural resources and why they need to be conserved.
  • The other common use for the conservation of resources is proper planning and regulations for the use of resources.

Natural Resources are one of the best gifts given to human beings by nature. We all should be grateful for it and should avoid wasting natural resources.

Paragraph on Natural Resources 100 Words

Natural resources are gifts of nature for life on Planet Earth. We have air that we need to breathe. The oxygen in the air is what we depend on to breathe and live. In the absence of air we would perish. The Earth also has water that is needed to keep life going. Man needs water to drink. Animals and plants too need water. If there are no water bodies there would be no marine creatures on Earth. Sunshine is also a natural resource that life on Earth depends upon. Air, water and sunshine are resources that are available naturally.

Paragraph on Natural Resources 150 Words

Natural resources serve as the foundation for all that we use to satisfy our needs and wants of life. Natural resources are the resources that occur naturally; they are not man-made.

Natural resources like air, water and sunshine are renewable by nature. When air is used by us for breathing, it does not diminish in volume. The oxygen in the air that we breathe is vital to keep us alive. Plants use up carbon dioxide from the air for the process of photosynthesis to occur in them, and give out oxygen.

Water is also needed for life on Earth. Man needs water for drinking. Similarly, sunshine is available freely. Using up sunshine does not decrease its availability.

Resources like coal are used by man to generate electricity. While coal is a natural resource, electricity is man-made. Coal is, however, a non-renewable resource. When it is used up, its availability decreases.

Paragraph on Natural Resources 200 Words

Natural resources are nature’s bounties. These are generated or created naturally. Man’s actions are not required for their formation.

Natural resources help in sustaining life on Planet Earth. Air, water and sunshine are all natural resources that keep life going on earth. We need oxygen present in the air to breathe. If we do not have air to breathe, we will perish. Similarly, water is a natural resource that life on earth depends upon. If there is no water to drink, we will die. Humans need water for many other purposes. Water bodies are also habitats for aquatic creatures like fishes.

Land and all life forms are also naturally occurring. Plants, all kinds of vegetation and forests are also natural resources. Forests are habitats for a large number of wildlife species. Forests are also vital to maintain the hydrological cycle on earth.

We depend on plants for our food. All herbivorous creatures also depend on plants for their food. Plants also give out oxygen that we depend on to live.

All life forms need sunlight for their survival. Plants require sunlight for carrying out photosynthesis.

We are dependent on natural resources for our life. We should, therefore, not waste them.

Paragraph on Natural Resources 250 Words

We have many needs and wants. Human needs are common to all people whether rich or poor. We depend on natural resources to meet our needs and wants.

Natural resources are available on Earth naturally. Human effort is not required for their creation. Air, water and sunlight are naturally occurring. Air is available around us at all times. We need air to breathe to stay alive. If there is no air to breathe, we will die. Life forms including plants need air to survive.

Likewise, water is essential for the inhabitants of Planet Earth. If there is no water to drink, life forms can perish. If there are no water bodies, the aquatic creatures cannot live.

Sunlight is also an important component that makes life possible on Earth. If the sun’s warmth was not available to the planet, there would have been no life on it. Plants and trees grow because of water, air and sunshine that enable photosynthesis to occur in them. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and give out oxygen that is vitally needed by us to breathe.

Air, water and sunshine are renewable resources because they are re-created naturally without human interference. Resources like forests, and metals and minerals obtained from the earth are non-renewable. Once destroyed, they do not get re-created naturally easily or quickly.

Man-made products also need natural resources for their production. Electricity, for instance, is created by the burning of coal, which is a naturally occurring resource.

Natural resources therefore should be used judiciously.

Paragraph on Natural Resources 300 Words

Natural resources are classified according to their renewability. There are renewable and non-renewable natural resources.

Renewable natural resources are replenished naturally

Renewable natural resources refer to those naturally occurring resources that are replenished naturally. Air is a natural resource that is always present around us naturally. We need the oxygen in the air to breathe to keep alive. If there is no air to breathe we cannot survive. Plants need the carbon dioxide present in the air to carry out photosynthesis. Plants also need sunlight and water for photosynthesis. Sunlight and water are also natural resources. Sunlight is needed by all life forms. The sun keeps our planet warm. The sun is also a source of light and energy for all life forms.

Water is also vital natural resource. The hydrological cycle replenishes water on the Earth. The heat of the sun evaporates water and the process of condensation brings pure water back to the Earth. Water is necessary for the upkeep of life. Humans need water to drink. Wild and domesticated animals, as also birds too need water to drink. Aquatic creatures like fishes can survive only in water bodies.

Non-renewable natural resources should not be wasted

Plants, all types of vegetation, and forests are also natural resources. Plants serve as food for man and other creatures. All herbivorous animals survive on plant food. Birds also feed on plant parts such as fruits and seeds. Plants belong to the category of organic natural resources.

Metals and minerals like gold, silver, diamonds and coal that are obtained from the earth are all inorganic natural resources.

Natural resources like forests as also metals and minerals are non-renewable resources. When a forest is cleared off, it does not re-appear again naturally. A pristine forest cover provides immense ecological benefits that a re-created forest cannot give. Non-renewable natural resources should, therefore, not be wasted or destroyed.

Paragraph on Natural Resources 350 Words

There are different kinds of natural resources. They may be renewable or non-renewable.

Natural resources occur naturally

Natural resources are nature’s gifts. They are not the result of man’s activities or effort. They occur naturally.

Natural resources like air, water and sunlight are needed by all life forms on Earth. Life depends on these natural resources. If these resources are absent, life will vanish from Earth.

Air, water and sunlight are renewable natural resources

Air, water and sunlight are renewable. We need air to breathe. The oxygen present in the air that surrounds is what we need to breathe and stay alive. In the absence of fresh air, life forms will die.

Similarly, water is needed by life forms to survive. If clean water is not available to drink, life forms will perish. Humans need water for many diverse uses too such as for cooking and for maintaining our bodies clean and hygienic.

Water bodies such as rivers, seas and oceans are also homes for marine creatures. While the water of the seas and oceans is saline, the water of rivers is sweet. Saline water is, however, unfit for consumption. The hydrological cycle maintains water supply on earth. This is a naturally occurring phenomenon. A healthy ecological system keeps the hydrological cycle too in balance.

Sunlight is also a naturally available resource. It is needed by all life forms. Sunlight helps plants and all vegetation in carrying out the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a process by which the plants use up carbon dioxide that occurs in the air and give out oxygen. Forests are vital to ecological balance. Forests are habitats for many wildlife species. Forests are important in keeping the hydrological cycle in balance. Man and all herbivorous animals depend on plants for their food.

Natural resources should not be wasted

Natural resources such as minerals and fossil fuels are non-renewable. They get depleted on use. Natural resources should not be wasted. For example, if water is contaminated, it becomes unfit for consumption. Similarly, if water bodies are polluted they become a danger to life. Likewise, if coal is wasted it takes millions of years to be re-created naturally. Natural resources should, therefore, be used wisely.

Paragraph on Natural Resources 400 Words

Natural resources are resources that are available naturally. Such resources are not created by man. Natural resources may be renewable or non-renewable.

Renewable natural resources get replenished naturally

Renewable resources are those which get replenished when used up or are available for unlimited use. It includes resources such as sunlight, water and fresh air. Trees, forests and vegetation, as also animals and life forms are also included in natural resources.

Sunlight is a resource that is available freely. It is essential for all life forms. All vegetation depends on sunlight for photosynthesis. Solar energy generated by using sunlight is eco-friendly and allows greater sustainability.

Non-renewable resources get depleted by use

Non-renewable resources are those resources which get depleted on use. They also include those resources that are naturally replenished only over a long period of time. Non-renewable resources need to be used judiciously and with care. These resources are precious, and should not be wasted or abused. Fossil fuels, for instance, such as coal are non-renewable. Once coal is burned it is used up. With using up of coal, the volume of available coal in the earth reduces. Coal is used in a big way for generation of electricity. If we resort to use of solar energy, a renewable source of energy, we can be more vigilant and judicious in resource utilization.

Minerals that are obtained from the earth are also non-renewable. Using them up depletes their quantity, and they are created within the earth’s surface only over millions of years.

Land is also a natural resource. The land on the surface of the earth is limited. If it is used for one purpose, it is not available for another purpose. For instance, if we build a house on a piece of land, we cannot engage in farming on that same bit of land.

Natural resources must be used judiciously

Natural resources are nature’s creation. They should be used wisely and judiciously. Natural resources that are limited and non-renewable should be protected. If we indulge our fancies we may lose out on vital natural resources. For instance, the tiger is at the apex of the food chain. If we kill off tigers in the forests, we destroy the ecological equilibrium in the forest habitat. The forest is, therefore, affected adversely. We depend on the forest for healthy hydrological cycles. All life forms depend on water for survival, and if water gets depleted all life forms will suffer. Thus our activities can spoil the ecosystem and ecological balance .

The Environmental Policy field centers around the alternation of public policy and social institutions that influence the way we manage the environment and our natural resources. By researching scientific data and current legislation Environmental Policy makers create new laws and legal standards that will better serve shifting environmental demands.

Environmental & Urban Planning careers create programs that use land more efficiently with minimal damage to the surrounding environment. They often focus on the use of natural resources and attempt to predict any risks or problems that may arise, and then create plans to combat these risks. Urban planners help to direct a city’s or town’s development. The profession of urban planning is involved in improving the life and health quality of not just what is traditionally thought of as “urban” spaces, but of all spaces in which human beings live.

Though the words “sustainability” and “green” often invoke the idea of environmental scientists, this narrow view does not accurately represent the diversity of the field. While these scientific careers are certainly part of the industry, there are many other options for those seeking a Sustainability job or Green profession. In fact, many Sustainability careers are often focused on helping organizations and companies run more efficiently, thereby increasing their profits, pleasing their customer base, and creating a sense of well being among the community.

In addition, depending on the type of work you are willing and able to do, you can begin through gap year programs, internships, limited term and part-time jobs.  Environmental email job boards  are a good resource to sign up for to get a better sense of what types of jobs are available.

Are there well-paid career paths in this field?

While most people who go into environmental related career paths aren’t looking to get rich, environmental jobs span all work sectors, including finance, policy, law, business, real estate, government, and non-profit. Figuring out the different work environments will help you better understand which paths you might want to pursue.

Do I have to go to veterinary school to work with wildlife animals?

You first want to learn the different ways in which you can work with animals. For example, you may become a zoologist or wildlife biologist working in different paths in conservation management and wildlife rehabilitation where getting a master’s degree and the appropriate certifications and permits will allow you to work in state and federal government positions. Some paths will require further education, especially work with more of a research focus. Figuring out the types of animals you want to work with will also help determine the necessary level of education. If you don’t know what you’re interested in yet, do something, anything to narrow down your interests.

Can I work in sustainability & business if I don't have a business background?

Trying out multiple related opportunities during college is just as important as doing the same once you’ve graduated. When you’ve gained more job experience and tried out different functional areas to build your skills, then figuring out the next right step for working in sustainability will help you be prepared to follow a path that works for who you are and what you want to do. Essay on Depletion of Natural Resources for Students and Children

500 words essay on depletion of natural resources.

Humans are using natural resources endlessly day by day. The population explosion is causing overexploitation of natural resources with little or no care to conserving them. To meet this massive population, depletion of natural resources is happening. However, we need to understand that natural resources are finite. Even renewable resources are not being given enough time to replenish. Thus, one can even wonder what the condition of non-renewable resources might be. Therefore, this depletion of natural resources is quite harmful to the earth and its inhabitants.

essay on depletion of natural resources

Impact of Depletion of Natural Resources

As we require minerals for almost everything from housing to business, they are being used up rapidly. There has been a major decline in these minerals like coal , copper and more. Soon, we will run out of them all if we do not conserve them properly.

Similarly, the oil reserves are also running out. We won’t be able to produce more oil and thus we won’t get any petroleum . There will be inflation in prices and many economies will crumble due to this lack of resources.

Similarly, forests are being cut down at an alarming rate. For instance, the recent decision to cut down the Aarey forest in Mumbai is a major example. However, the damage being done due to this deforestation is quite worrisome. This will only spike the carbon dioxide levels and alter the water cycle on earth. We will soon face frequent faces of floods and soil erosion through which even our biodiversity will decrease.

Most importantly, the way we are wasting water needs to be checked right away. As it is many countries are facing a water crisis and we know life without water is impossible. The farmers won’t get enough water for irrigation. It can also result in famine and many more deadly consequences. We must not waste these resources instead find ways to prevent this depletion.

Ways to Prevent Depletion of Natural Resource

There are many ways in which everyone can help in this prevention of natural resource depletion. Firstly, we must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. You can do it by stop wasting electricity . Try to carpool with your neighbors or relative and take public transport instead.

Moreover, stop polluting water. As it is our freshwater bodies are running out of clean water. We must organize cleanliness drives to clean the water of these bodies. Do not let your tap run for a long time. The industries must be banned from dumping their toxic waste into the water. Furthermore, do not take long showers, instead use the buckets for a bath.

Most importantly, please plant more trees. Preserve our existing forests and do not let them be cut down. They are a very important natural resource needed for human survival. Use less paper to avoid cutting down trees. We can all come together and prevent this depletion of natural resources only if we realize the harmful consequences.

FAQs on Depletion of Natural Resources

Q.1 What is the impact of natural resource depletion?

A.1 Natural resource depletion means that we will soon find it hard to survive. The water cycle will be altered, carbon dioxide levels will increase, inflation will happen in oil prices, economies can also crumble following this depletion.

Q.2 How can we prevent natural resource depletion?

A.2 Everyone can do their bit to prevent this depletion. We must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels which are soon running out. Moreover, we must organize cleanliness drives to clear out water and make it safe. Other than that, instead of cutting down forests, plant more trees.

Banks face an array of risks when lending to clients, some of which are not well known when a bank originates a loan. When a new risk emerges or a risk’s importance increases, banks mitigate these risks by adjusting their lending behavior (Working Paper 24-03).

How does competition affect banks’ adaptation to emergent risks for which there is limited supervisory oversight? The analysis matches detailed supervisory data on home equity lines of credit with high resolution flood projections to identify climate risks. Following Hurricane Harvey, banks updated their internal risk models to better reflect flood risk projections, even in areas unaffected by the disaster. These updates are only detected in banks with exposures to the disaster, indicating heterogeneous bank learning. We use this heterogeneity to identify how bank adaptation is affected by competition. Exposed banks reduce lending to areas with higher flood risks, but only in less competitive markets, suggesting that competition fosters risk-taking over risk mitigation. Additionally, banks are less likely to adapt in markets where competitors are also less likely to do so, suggesting a strategic complementarity in bank adaptation. More broadly, our paper sheds light on the role of competitive forces in how banks manage emerging risks and relevant supervisory challenges.
