Natural Resources Essay: Our survival has always wholly depended on the natural resources of the Earth. The natural resources are the blessing of Mother Nature that has provided us with abundant elements to make our life comfortable and prosperous. Natural resources are all those things that are readily present in the environment like air, water, sunlight, wood, coal, etc. Most of these natural resources are present on Earth’s surface (or reach Earth’s surface like sunlight). Still, some natural resources are also hidden below the Earth’s surface, which we have eventually reached and used to benefit us.

To help students regarding essay writing on the topic ‘Natural Resources’, we have provided samples for long and short essays on the theme. Additionally, we have offered ten points about the subject matter that will help the students in framing the essay and act as guidelines.

Long Essay on Natural Resources 500 words in English

Human life is unimaginable without natural resources, and it is precise because of these resources that any form of life sustained on this planet with comfort. Natural resources are anything and everything obtained from nature and used by us, starting from elemental air, water, and sunlight to even organic elements like fossil fuels, minerals, timber, etc.

Natural resources that are obtained from living organisms or are eventually formed because of living organisms are called Biotic elements, like forests, birds, animals, fishes, or other marine organisms, fossil fuels (because they are formed because of the decay of organic materials), etc. Natural resources that refer to the non-living elements of nature are called Abiotic resources. Examples of abiotic resources are sunlight, wind, tide, soil, minerals, etc.

Natural elements are present everywhere around the world but not equally distributed. Humans have learned efficient ways in which they can use the natural resources present in their region for their benefit. Like in India, a variety of soil and humid weather has allowed the prosperous growth of agriculture. The areas of the country that are surrounded by sea eventually developed advanced skills in fishing.

Some examples of how we use our natural resources are, using of water for drinking and production of hydro-electric power, sunlight is necessary for plant growth and also providing us heat and vitamins, plants are our primary source of oxygen and food, coal is used for electricity production and as a fuel for vehicles, etc.

With trade and commerce came globalization, and now we are dynamically evolving to find ways in which we can modify methods of using natural resources to create products to serve us better. But we have to remember that not all resources are unlimitedly present in our ecosystem. If we are not careful about the consumption of these resources, then they will eventually exhaust, then we might not have an alternative to survive without those.

The resources like solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass are called renewable resources because they are present abundantly in the world and are self-replenishing in nature. And the resources like fossil fuels, iron, freshwater, coal, nuclear elements, etc. that took million years for the formation and can eventually perish (cannot be reproduced) are called non-renewable resources.

Hence, it is essential to preserve resources so that they can be present in the future for us and our succeeding generation’s use and benefit. Everyone needs to know natural resources because our survival depends on those. We also need to educate and make people aware of the hazardous effect of the absence of these resources. We should preach and practice the ways of Essay on Conservation of Natural Resources .

Short Essay on Natural Resources 150 words in English

Natural resources are the blessings of nature to its children, living beings that have not only made our survival possible but also made our life comfortable and nourished. Some examples of natural resources are sunlight, air, timber, coal, plants, food, animals, water, natural gases, etc. The natural resources can be classified as Biotic (forest, animals, birds, fish, fossil fuels, etc.) and Abiotic or Non-living (water, minerals, air, soil, sunlight, etc.) resources.

Even though many natural resources are present in the environment in abundance, some resources can ultimately perish. These are called Renewable and Non-Renewable resources, respectively. Hence, we should be careful about our non-renewable natural resources so that they do not exhaust.

We can obtain this by differentiating our necessities from luxuries and spend natural resources in a calculated manner. It is our responsibility as the responsible citizens of this planet to be concerned about the conservation of these natural resources and contribute to the cause by doing our part in saving. we will soonly update Natural Resources Essay in Hindi, Urdu, Kannada and Marathi.

Essay on Conservation of Nature

500+ words essay on conservation of nature.

Nature refers to living plants, air, water, minerals, sunlight, and animals. It makes this Earth a place worth living. We can exist on this planet because of mother nature. We get plenty of natural resources from our planet Earth. But unfortunately, most of the natural resources are getting depleted because of overpopulation and misuse of these resources. If we don’t work to conserve natural resources, all these resources will not exist one day. So, we should understand its value and importance.

Define the Conservation of Nature

Natural resources on Earth include minerals, air, water, soil and wildlife. It contains genes, ecosystems, diversity of species and functions of the environment. It is impossible to exist on this planet without these natural resources. Conservation of nature means taking care of and protecting these resources for future generations.

So, we should conserve these natural resources to maintain an equal balance in our environment. Now, we will discuss the types of resources and how they can be conserved.

Types of Natural Resources

Natural resources can be classified into four categories: Renewable resources, Non-Renewable resources, Biotic and Abiotic.

Renewable Resources: Renewable resources cannot be replenished through natural processes. For example, wind, water, forests, solar energy, etc. These resources can fill by themselves at the same speed they are used. But, we should manage these resources wisely to avoid the depletion of renewable resources.

Non-Renewable Resources: Non-renewable resources are exhaustible resources, which means once they are exhausted, they will take millions of years to form, for example, fossil fuels, minerals, etc.

Biotic: Biotic natural resources come from the ecosphere, including vegetation, animals, and other substances procured from them. It also includes oil, coal and petroleum because they are decayed organic matter.

Abiotic: Abiotic natural resources are generated from non-living and non-organic materials. Examples of abiotic natural resources are land, water, and heavy materials like gold, silver, etc.

Natural resources can also be categorised as stock resources, actual resources, potential resources and reserve resources based on their stage of development.

How to Conserve Nature and Its Resources?

It is necessary to conserve natural resources because many of them are used faster than their production speed. We have discussed a few ways of preserving these resources below:

Consumption of less water: Making a habit of taking shorter showers, closing the tap while brushing our teeth, etc., will help reduce the wastage of water. Also, try to use your dishwasher and washing machine when there is enough load and shift to energy-saving applicants if possible.

Switch off the lights: Make sure to turn off the lights once you leave the room. When there is no use of appliances like air conditioners, coffee-makers, etc., switch them off as they consume electricity in small amounts. LED lights use less amount of electricity compared to standard bulbs. So, try to switch to these alternative options of light.

Usage of renewable energy: Renewable resources have been in practice for centuries. But, in recent years, global warming and climate change forced researchers and scientists to look for other ways to incorporate greenery into our everyday life. The usage of wind energy and solar panels can reduce our dependence on natural gas and reduce the depletion of natural resources.

Recycle: Recycling means reusing materials that are already used. It reduces waste, helping in reducing groundwater and air pollution. Look for a place that recycles items like plastic bottles, aluminium, etc.

Composting means converting scrap food waste into valuable materials for gardening purposes. It enriches the soil and avoids water runoff, which reduces soil erosion. By composting, the need for pesticides can also be cut down, lessening the amount of wastage and pollution produced by food.

Nature comprises everything that surrounds us. The trees, forests, rivers, brooks, soil, and air are all part of nature. Keeping nature and its resources integral is crucial for continuing life on Earth. It would be difficult to imagine life on Earth with a spoiled natural environment.

Therefore, taking appropriate steps to conserve nature must be a priority for the human race. Only human beings can save nature in its purest forms with their power and ability.

Essay on Natural Resources

Natural resources and its importance for human life is an important issue for people on earth. Now it is necessary to have knowledge about the need and importance of natural resources as well as spread complete awareness by focusing on its hazardous effects due to the unavailability of these resources. We have provided here some essays on natural resources with detailed knowledgeable information. Essays are divided in two categories; long and short essay on natural resources.

Sample Essay on Natural Resources for Students

Essay 1 (400 words).

Natural resources are those precious gifts for us that are much important for living on this earth. These are air, water, land, trees, wood, soil, minerals, petroleum, metals and sunshine. These resources cannot be created or produced by human being but just can be modified in different manner so that we can use it in better way.

Types of Resources:

Natural resources are mainly divided in two types of categories, these are: Renewal Resources and Non Renewal resources

  • Renewal Resources: Renewal resources are those resources which can be regained and reformed after consumption like water, air, sunlight, land, wood, soil, plants and animals. Some are limited in quantity; these are water, plants, animals and fresh air. Without making managed system of consuming these renewal resources we would not be able to get it back in future for the use of our coming generations.
  • Non renewal resources: Natural resources that cannot be reproduced and are available in fixed amount on earth are referred as Non Renewal resources. On the earth, they are found below the land like minerals, metals, petroleum and coal. All these are in limited stock and very useful and important for living life.

Different resources are used for different purposes:

  • Air is used for wind energy.
  • Water is used for drinking and producing hydroelectric energy.
  • Plants and trees give us vegetables, fruits, cotton, wood and by using wood we can make paper, furniture and house too.
  • Animals give us milk and their skin is used for making lather clothes, shoes, purses, belts, etc.
  • Sunlight is used for making us warm and produces solar energy.
  • Oil is used as fuel for transportation and electricity.
  • Minerals and metals are used for making coins, steel, and jewelry.
  • Coal is used to make electricity.

Conclusion:

Natural resources are too much essential for survival on this earth. Without them we cannot imagine our human life. All resources are either directly or indirectly connected with others.

Some resources are produced from other resources for example oxygen and wood are produced by plants and trees; energy can be produced from wind, water and sunlight in different forms. Various secrets of natural resources are still hidden behind the nature and the earth. No one can get the actual source of it. We should follow preservation method for using these resources in such manner that they could always be available for us in future for many centuries coming ahead.

Essay 2 (600 words)

Introduction

Resources obtained from nature are called natural resources and are very essential for survival on earth for human being. Natural resources are air, water, sunlight, forest, land, rock, soil, petroleum, metal and minerals. Land, sunlight, wind and rock have unlimited availability on the earth.

Apart from these resources, other natural resources are divided in two categories:

  • Renewal Resources: Renewal resources are those which can be reproduced and regenerated by the efforts of people and some kind of extra care. These resources are plants, fresh air, water, land and animals.
  • Non Renewal Resources: Non renewal resources are those which are limited in quantity and never be regained either from earth or by human efforts. These resources are petroleum, coal, minerals and metals.

Apart from these two categories of natural resources, other categories are also defined to differentiate Natural Resources:

Biotic and abiotic resources:

  • Biotic resources : These resources are those natural resources which are obtained from global system and have life-like plants, trees and animals.
  • Abiotic resources : These resources are those natural resources which are non living like, air, water, land, soil, minerals and metals.

This whole world or universe depends on natural resources in different manner. A human life cannot be imagined or possible without these resources. Different resources have their individual importance in a human life like we need oxygen in air for taking breath and only trees produce oxygen by taking carbon dioxide from air. Sunlight gives us heat that is must for our daily requirements.

Plants require land, soil and water to grow and changes in form of fruitful trees. Tree gives us fresh air, fruits, vegetables, wood, etc. By using wood we make paper and different types of furniture. Water is most essential resource after oxygen for human being. Water animals like fish is used to fulfil starvation of many people and other big water animals.

Other natural resources like petroleum, minerals, coal, etc are used for different types of purposes. Different types of energy can be produced by different resources like solar energy can be produced by sun light, hydro electric energy is produced by using water, wind energy is produced by wind, electricity is produced by coal and water is boiled by burning coal to produce electricity.

Minerals and metals are found deep under the ground and used to make coins, gold, steel and many other things that are needed for our daily routine life. Petroleum, the essential resource given by nature is refined and converted into fuel for transportation.

Availability of Natural resources:

Some of these resources are available on the earth since ancient time even from starting of the civilization like air, water, sunlight, land, plants and animals. Rest resources like metals, minerals, coal and petroleum are found due to the efforts of human after civilization. Different types of energy, wood, cotton cloths, leather materials and expensive ornaments were developed using technologies by human as per the need.

Some non renewal resources are very limited and rarely found on this earth like petroleum and metals, some specific places are reserved on earth from where these resources are obtained. In India, around hundred types of minerals are produced at different places which are very important for financial profits at national level, as we export these minerals to other countries and import some other minerals which are not found in India. In case of petroleum, each country has its different percentage of production of petroleum and do import or export of petroleum according to their consumption need.

Effects of destroying natural resources:

Resources that are found in a natural form and are not produced by human being are natural resources. Use and consumption of these resources matters a lot for future of human life. In current situation forest are left in very few quantities because of the increased population (people cut trees to get wood, paper and land for making building over there).

Animals are also killed for the personal need of human-like enjoying food and making leather goods from skin of different animals. If we still do not understand the importance of forests and animals, result will be hazardous for all. Without fresh air and water, human life will be impossible in future. Thus, to avoid this critical situation, we need to grow plants and limit our consumption of resources like water, electricity, oil, etc.

Essay on Natural Resources

Students are often asked to write an essay on Natural Resources in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Natural Resources

What are natural resources.

Natural resources are things found in nature that humans use. These include water, trees, coal, and gas. We use them for food, building homes, making clothes, and creating energy.

Types of Natural Resources

Importance of conservation.

It’s important to save natural resources. If we use too much, there may not be enough for future people. We can save by recycling and using less.

We face problems like pollution and overuse. To fix these, we must be careful and find new ways to use resources without harm.

250 Words Essay on Natural Resources

Natural resources are things we find in nature that help us live. They are not made by humans. Instead, they come from the earth, water, and air. Examples include water, trees, oil, and minerals like gold and iron.

We can put natural resources into two groups. The first group is called renewable resources. These are things like sunlight, wind, and plants. They can come back or grow again even after we use them. The second group is non-renewable resources. These are things like coal and oil. Once we use them up, they are gone forever because they take a very long time to form.

Why Are They Important?

Natural resources are important because they are the things we need to live. We use them for food, to build houses, and to make clothes. We also use them to make power for our homes and cars.

Using Resources Carefully

It is important to use natural resources carefully. If we use too much, there might not be enough left for people in the future. We should try to use more renewable resources because they can come back. We should also recycle things like paper and plastic so we don’t have to use more resources to make new ones.

Natural resources are a big part of our lives. We need to make sure we use them in a good way. This means not using too much and choosing resources that can be used again. This way, we can take care of the earth and have enough resources for everyone now and in the future.

500 Words Essay on Natural Resources

We can put natural resources into two main groups: renewable and nonrenewable. Renewable resources are those that can be used over and over again. They include sunlight, wind, and water. Trees and plants are also renewable because they can grow back after we cut them down, as long as we take care of the land.

Nonrenewable resources are different. They do not come back once we use them. These include things like oil, natural gas, and minerals. Once they are gone, they are gone forever. It takes millions of years for the Earth to make more, so we must use them wisely.

Why Are Natural Resources Important?

Using natural resources carefully.

Another way to be careful is to use more renewable resources. For example, instead of using oil to make electricity, we can use wind or solar power. This helps because even if we use a lot of wind or sunlight, there will always be more the next day.

Short Essay on Conservation of Natural Resources – Essay 1 (200 words)

Natural resources are of different types however these have largely been classified as renewable and non-renewable. Some of the examples of renewable natural resources are sunlight, water, wind, wood and soil. While few of these natural resources are available in abundance in nature and can be replenished fast others take time to renew.

Coal, oil and natural gases are some of the examples of non-renewable natural resources. Though available naturally in the environment, these natural resources cannot be replenished or take hundreds of years to recycle.

The presence of natural resources is essential for maintaining the environmental balance. However, we do not think twice before utilizing them. We are exploiting our natural resources and they are getting depleted at a rapid speed. We must understand the importance of natural resources and the need to conserve them for future use. We must particularly be cautious while using the non-renewable resources as well as the renewable resources that take time to replenish. These resources are our basic requirements. They are essential for our survival. If we do not take serious measures to conserve them, then it will become almost impossible for us to live on Earth.

The government of every country needs to emphasize the importance of conservation of natural resources and ensure its citizens avoid wastage of any kind.

Essay on Conservation of Natural Resources for Future Generation – Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

Natural resources are mostly limited and it is our responsibility to use them wisely and conserve them for our future generations. Natural resources are vital for the survival of the human beings as well as other living beings. While some natural resources make life possible on earth others make it comfortable.

Survival of Future Generation

Natural resources such as water, air and sunlight are abundantly available in the atmosphere. These are renewable natural resources and man does not have to worry much about their availability. However, there are many renewable resources such as wood, soil, etc that take years to renew. These must thus be used cautiously.

Besides, the non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels and minerals cannot be used over and over again. These cannot be regenerated once consumed. Both renewable as well as non-renewable natural resources are essential for the survival of the living beings. We use these for various purposes. Some of these are used directly while others are used to build different things that are used widely by us.

The Government’s Role

While people must behave responsibly and ensure they don’t waste the valuable natural resources the government must also step in and take measures to conserve the natural resources. Strict laws must be made to ensure we only use as much as we need and avoid wastage of any kind.

The government must keep a check on the cutting of trees, over consumption of petroleum, wastage of minerals and even the usage of water. Innovative methods must be used to limit their consumption. Anyone found exploiting these must be punished.

If we continue to use our natural resources at the same rate we are using them currently, we wouldn’t be left with much of them in the future. It will create a problem for the future generations. We must use the natural resources cautiously so that our future generations do not suffer.

Essay on Need to Protect and Conserve our Natural Resources – Essay 3 (400 words)

The need to protect and conserve our natural resources is often emphasized. This has become a major cause of concern especially since the last few decades. While many natural resources such as air, water and sunlight are available abundantly in the atmosphere and are being renewed naturally others such as petroleum, minerals and natural gases are limited and cannot be recycled or renewed. These are depleting at a fast rate.

Need to Protect and Conserve Natural Resources

There is a dire need to protect and conserve our natural resources. If we do not protect them now, we shall not be able to survive on this planet for long. Here are some of the top reasons why we must protect and conserve these valuable resources:

  • Natural Resources are Limited

Natural Resources are divided into two categories – renewable natural resources and non renewable natural resources. While many renewable natural resources are available abundantly in nature and are easily renewed others take time to replenish. The examples of the natural resources that take time to renew include wood, soil and biomass. It is essential to use such renewable resources carefully as these are limited and we need to wait before they replenish naturally. Non-renewable resources such as minerals, metals and petroleum are limited and there is no way we can renew these. Thus, it is of utmost importance to use them wisely.

  • Natural Resources: Essential for Human Survival

We need to protect and conserve natural resources as they are extremely essential for the survival of human beings as well as other living beings. Life on Earth is possible only because of the availability of natural resources. If we continue to exploit natural resources and deplete them at this rate, we shall not be able to survive on this planet for long.

We are not only consuming the non-renewable natural resources rapidly and face a risk of depleting these soon but are also deteriorating the quality of those available in abundance. The air and water quality has gone down due to pollution and it is likely to degrade further in the times to come. We need to protect and conserve natural resources for our future generations so that they can enjoy a comfortable life just as we do.

We must all take it as our responsibility to avoid wastage of our natural resources. We must contribute towards the protection and conversation of these precious resources that nature has bestowed on us.

Essay on Ways to Conserve Natural Resources – Essay 4 (500 words)

Natural resources are available freely in nature but most of these are either limited or take hundreds of years to recycle. This is the reason why we must use these resources carefully and avoid any kind of wastage. However, it is easier said than done. Human beings have grown so accustomed to utilizing natural resources for different purposes that it is difficult for them to live without these. We do not realize that these are depleting fast and we may not be left with much of these in the times to come. What we also don’t visualize is that life will become extremely difficult without these valuable resources in the future.

Ways to Conserve Natural Resources

Here are some of the ways to conserve natural resources:

  • Save Electricity

Electricity is produced from both renewable and non-renewable natural resources. Large amount of fossil fuels are being used to produce electricity. Saving electricity can go a long way in saving natural resources such as water, coal, natural gases and biomass. Simple practices such as limiting the use of air conditioners, keeping the lights turned off during the day time, unplugging the appliances if not in use and using energy efficient devices can help.

Fuels such as petrol and diesel on which our vehicles run are derived from petroleum which is a non renewable natural resource. We must choose our means of transportation wisely in order to save fuel else we will run out of it in the times to come. Using public transport, regular car pooling, opting for electric vehicles and turning off the engine on red lights are a few ways to save fuel.

  • Restrict Usage of Paper

Paper is made out of wood which is a renewable natural resource. However, it is a renewable resource that takes time to replenish. Trees are being cut at a rapid speed and they do not grow as fast. It takes years for this natural resource to renew. This is the reason why we must stop wasting paper. Some of the ways in which we can do so are by using both the sides of the paper while printing, opting for online bills and sending used papers for recycling. We must also make it a habit to plant trees and encourage those around us to do the same.

Though a renewable natural resource, it is essential to save water else we may run out of clean water which is used for drinking, cooking, cleaning and other such purposes. This can be done by making small changes in our routine such as using water from the bucket while bathing, watering plants and washing car instead of using showers or pipes for these tasks. Similarly, keeping the tap turned off when not in use while brushing teeth or washing dishes can help in avoiding wastage of water.

In order to secure our future and live a comfortable life, we must use our natural resources wisely. There are numerous ways to conserve these resources such as choosing our means of transport wisely, planting trees, avoiding over usage of electrical appliances and avoiding wastage of water. If each one of us takes it as a responsibility to avoid wastage of natural resources and the government keeps a serious tab on the consumption of natural resources then conserving the, will get easier.

Long Essay on Conservation of Natural Resources – Essay 5 (600 words)

Natural resources are those resources that have been made available to us by nature. There is no human intervention in producing these resources. Since centuries man has used these resources to satiate many of his needs. Many of these resources are used directly while others are used indirectly. These resources are used to prepare things that come handy in our lives. From using these natural resources to exploiting every bit of them – man has come a long way. We need to conserve the natural resources so that our future generations can also use them to make their life comfortable.

Types of Natural Resources

There are basically two types of natural resources. These are renewable natural resources and non-renewable natural resources. Renewable natural resources are those resources that can be renewed naturally for example air, water, sunlight, wood, soil, etc. These are further divided into two categories – those natural resources that can be renewed easily and those that take time to replenish. Wood and soil fall in the second category.

Non Renewable resources are those resources that cannot be recycled or renewed. While some of these are available in abundance in the nature, others are limited. Some of the examples of non renewable resources include minerals, natural gases and metals. Non-renewable resources are used for various purposes and are getting depleted at a fast rate. Since these cannot be renewed these would disappear from the surface of Earth in the coming times as we are exploiting them badly.

Why Conserve Natural Resources?

We need to conserve and protect both renewable as well as non-renewable natural resources. This is because these natural resources are limited. These are the reason we are surviving on this planet and are leading a comfortable life. If we continue to deplete them at this rate, our survival on Earth will become extremely difficult.

The importance of conserving the natural resources has been emphasized time and again. However, we still continue to use these carelessly. It is important for us to take this issue seriously and stop unnecessary wastage of these precious resources. We must understand that our carelessness can affect the future generations adversely. They will have to face a lot of hardships if we do not conserve natural resources for their use.

How to Conserve Natural Resources?

There are many ways in which natural resources can be saved. Following simple practices can help in creating a big difference.

In order to conserve natural resources, we must first remind ourselves about the need to do so. We have grown so accustomed to using various things in our day to day life that we do not realize that in doing so we are consuming a good amount of natural resources. There are many times when we can do without using these things however we continue to use them blindly without realizing how we are contributing towards our own extinction.

From the electricity we consume to the water we use, from the fuel we use in our vehicles to the paper we use to write, everything is derived directly or indirectly from the natural resources. Simple things such as turning off the lights before leaving the room, unplugging the electrical appliances when they are not in use, avoiding printing of paper and using the e-copies wherever you can, loading the washing machine fully while washing the clothes and using bucket instead of shower or pipes while bathing and washing cars can help in conserving natural resources.

It is important for us to realize that out natural resources are limited. We must plan and use these wisely so that these are not wasted. This will help in conserving them for our future generations. Every person must take it as his responsibility to use the natural resources cautiously and contribute towards conserving them.

Speech on Natural Resources for Students in English

Natural resources form a vital component of a country's economy. Natural resources are resources provided to us by nature. Natural resources include sunlight, air, water, and minerals. Natural resources must be conserved so that they can be used for a longer period. The importance of conserving natural resources has been repeatedly emphasized. Here we have provided a long speech on the conservation of natural resources along with a short water conservation speech for students of Classes 1 to 12.

Long and Short Speech on Natural Resources

Long speech on conservation of natural resources.

Hello! Good morning to every one of you who has gathered here. Today, I am here to deliver a speech on natural resources. Natural resources come in a variety of forms, but they are primarily classified as renewable or non-renewable. Sunlight, water, wind, wood, and soil are examples of renewable natural resources. While some of these natural resources are abundant in nature and can be replenished quickly, others take time to renew.

Examples of non-renewable natural resources include coal, oil, and natural gas. Although these natural resources are abundant in the environment, they cannot be replenished and take hundreds of years to recycle.

The presence of natural resources is critical for the preservation of the environment's balance. However, we do not hesitate to employ them. Our natural resources are being depleted at an alarming rate as we exploit them. We must recognize the value of natural resources and the need to preserve them for future use. We must be especially cautious when using nonrenewable resources and renewable resources that take time to replenish. These are our fundamental requirements. They are critical to our survival. If we do not take serious conservation measures, it will become nearly impossible for us to live on Earth.

Natural resources such as forests, water, soil, food, mineral, and energy resources all play an important role in a country's development. While national and international conservation efforts are underway, individual efforts to conserve natural resources can go a long way.

Natural resources are a type of substance or energy that meets people's needs in a variety of ways, including socioeconomic, and cultural advancement. Natural resources are not only important in our lives, but they are also an important component in preserving ecological balance. The presence of a sufficient amount of natural resources aids economic development.

Here are a few suggestions for conserving natural resources:

Make use of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. They are both less expensive and renewable. Unlike coal, charcoal, and other forms of combustion, they do not deplete the ozone layer.

The advantages of planting trees are that they keep soil in its roots, which helps to avoid erosion.

Always check for leaks and close the taps in your bathrooms and kitchens when they aren't in use. Another way that anyone at home can use is reusing water.

It is critical to treat industrial and human waste before dumping it into bodies of water. Untreated discharge from factories and sewage plants pollutes water, endangering not only human life but also aquatic life.

On an individual level, we can conserve energy by doing the following.

When not in use, turn off lights, fans, and other appliances.

Obtain as much heat from natural sources as possible. If it's a sunny day, hang the clothes to dry instead of using the dryer.

On sunny days, use a solar cooker to cook your food, which will be more nutritious and save you money on LPG.

Grow deciduous trees and climbers in strategic locations outside your home to reduce summer heat and provide a cool breeze and shade. This will eliminate the need for you to pay for electricity for coolers and air conditioners.

Instead of driving or scootering, try riding your bike or walking short distances.

Similarly, We Can Take Certain Steps to Protect the Soil-

Don't uproot the trees as far as possible while building your house.

Plant a fast-growing native ground cover in disturbed areas.

Compost your kitchen waste and use it to fertilize your garden or flower pots. Irrigate the plants with a gentle flow of water to avoid washing away the soil.

If you own agricultural land, avoid over-irrigating it without proper drainage to avoid waterlogging and salinization.

Use mixed cropping to avoid depletion of specific soil nutrients.

To sum up, all-natural resources are important to us, and we must do everything we can to safeguard and conserve them so that we can use them in the future. Last but not least we can promote sustainable agriculture.

Short Speech on Conservation of Natural Resources

Hello! Good morning to everyone present here. I am honored to have the opportunity to address today's gathering and deliver my speech on Natural Resources.

Natural resources are those found in the natural environment. They are not created by humans and were given to us by God. Natural resources include wood, soil, oil, minerals, petroleum, and water.

We exploit these valuable resources for economic gain. We are overusing them and depleting them. There is a need to understand that these resources exist to meet our needs, not to satisfy our greed.

As a result, we must conserve our natural resources. These resources do not solely belong to us. They also belong to future generations. We must preserve them for future generations to enjoy.

To conserve our natural resources, we should begin to use alternative energy sources. We can, for example, use solar energy instead of electrical energy. We can also use biogas instead of excessively relying on petroleum. We can also encourage the conservation, reuse, and recycling of natural resources.

To conserve our forest resources, we can continue to plant more and more trees. We can avoid putting industrial trash into bodies of water. Controlling the use of fossil fuels is necessary.

We have a social responsibility to our planet and its resources as humans. If everyone works together to conserve resources, we will have a better tomorrow with resources for future generations.

10 Lines on Natural Resources ASL Speech

Natural resources are resources that exist in their natural state in the environment.

Water, air, sunlight, minerals, vegetation, crops, flora and fauna, and so on are examples of natural resources on Earth.

Natural resources are utilities that we use to gain certain advantages.

Natural resources may also exist in alternative forms, such as metal ores, which must be processed before they can be used.

Biotic resources are those obtained from living organisms.

Abiotic resources are those derived from non-living materials.

Natural resources are being depleted as a result of human interference and activities.

Natural resources, such as water, that can be reused, are examples of renewable resources.

Coal, for example, is a non-renewable resource because it does not generate electricity.

Natural resources must be used wisely because they are limited and will run out if they are squandered.

If we continue to deplete our natural resources at the current rate, we won't have much of them left in the future. It will cause problems for future generations. We must use natural resources with caution so that future generations are not harmed. We must all accept responsibility for preventing the waste of our natural resources. We must contribute to the preservation and conservation of the valuable resources that nature has bestowed upon us.

FAQs on Speech on Natural Resources

1. Why is wildlife conservation so important?

Scientists hunt for resistant strains in wild plants because they have evolved disease-resistance characteristics. Pollination agents such as bees, bats, birds, and other animals help plants become more fruitful.

Wildlife can be used to treat illnesses. More than 40,000 plants, animals, fungus, and tiny animal species are employed to help humans in some form. Wild plants are responsible for more than a third of all medications. Wildlife has a high value as a bequest. The purpose of wildlife conservation is to ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy nature, as well as to acknowledge the value of wildlife and wilderness for people and other species alike.

2. On a visit to your school, an environmentalist proposed using the three R's to conserve the environment. Explain what the three R's meant to him.

The three R's are Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse.

"To useless" is the literal meaning of the term "reduce." Turning off lights and fans that aren't in use can help with this. Second, to save water, faulty faucets should be repaired. Last but not least, by reducing food waste.

Gathering plastic, paper, glass, and metal products and recycling them to generate valuable commodities is what recycling entails. To recycle, trash must first be sorted from non-recyclable waste, ensuring that recyclables do not wind up in the same landfill as non-recyclable waste.

The term "reuse" refers to the act of reusing something. Used envelopes can be reversed and reused instead of being thrown away. In the kitchen, food-grade plastic bottles, such as jam or pickles, can be used to keep products.

3. What is the meaning of sustainable management? Describe its four advantages.

Sustainable management is the long-term management of natural resources to ensure that they last for future generations and are not exploited for short-term advantage.

The four advantages are as follows:

Resources endure longer.

it ensures consistent economic growth.

it aids in environmental protection

It minimises pollution.

4. What is the definition of water harvesting? What are the four advantages?

Water harvesting entails capturing every drop of water using dams or indigenous means such as digging small pits, lakes, dykes, sand and limestone reservoirs, and roof-top water collection equipment.

It has the following advantages:

It enhances biomass production

It mitigates droughts and floods

It recharges groundwater levels

It revitalises rivers

It maintains ecological balance

This study assesses how geopolitical crises influence tax revenue derived from natural resources. Merging International Crisis Behavior data with the Global ICTD-WIDER Government Revenue data covering 1980-2021, we document a dynamic relationship between interstate conflicts and resource revenue while simultaneously controlling for trade openness, disparities among nations, and the diffusion of oil price shocks. While trade openness mediates the geopolitical crisis-natural resource relation; export growth shows a moderating role in the relation of interest. Given the positive influence of political crisis events on the host country's resources tax revenue, we provide policy implications to how governments in these areas can better manage their income source during the geopolitical crisis, especially in developed countries, or areas where citizens have a greater voice and influence on their government in which the relationship is most pronounced.

Essay on Depletion of Natural Resources for Students and Children

500 words essay on depletion of natural resources.

Humans are using natural resources endlessly day by day. The population explosion is causing overexploitation of natural resources with little or no care to conserving them. To meet this massive population, depletion of natural resources is happening. However, we need to understand that natural resources are finite. Even renewable resources are not being given enough time to replenish. Thus, one can even wonder what the condition of non-renewable resources might be. Therefore, this depletion of natural resources is quite harmful to the earth and its inhabitants.

essay on depletion of natural resources

Impact of Depletion of Natural Resources

As we require minerals for almost everything from housing to business, they are being used up rapidly. There has been a major decline in these minerals like coal , copper and more. Soon, we will run out of them all if we do not conserve them properly.

Similarly, the oil reserves are also running out. We won’t be able to produce more oil and thus we won’t get any petroleum . There will be inflation in prices and many economies will crumble due to this lack of resources.

Similarly, forests are being cut down at an alarming rate. For instance, the recent decision to cut down the Aarey forest in Mumbai is a major example. However, the damage being done due to this deforestation is quite worrisome. This will only spike the carbon dioxide levels and alter the water cycle on earth. We will soon face frequent faces of floods and soil erosion through which even our biodiversity will decrease.

Most importantly, the way we are wasting water needs to be checked right away. As it is many countries are facing a water crisis and we know life without water is impossible. The farmers won’t get enough water for irrigation. It can also result in famine and many more deadly consequences. We must not waste these resources instead find ways to prevent this depletion.

Ways to Prevent Depletion of Natural Resource

There are many ways in which everyone can help in this prevention of natural resource depletion. Firstly, we must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. You can do it by stop wasting electricity . Try to carpool with your neighbors or relative and take public transport instead.

Moreover, stop polluting water. As it is our freshwater bodies are running out of clean water. We must organize cleanliness drives to clean the water of these bodies. Do not let your tap run for a long time. The industries must be banned from dumping their toxic waste into the water. Furthermore, do not take long showers, instead use the buckets for a bath.

Most importantly, please plant more trees. Preserve our existing forests and do not let them be cut down. They are a very important natural resource needed for human survival. Use less paper to avoid cutting down trees. We can all come together and prevent this depletion of natural resources only if we realize the harmful consequences.

FAQs on Depletion of Natural Resources

Q.1 What is the impact of natural resource depletion?

A.1 Natural resource depletion means that we will soon find it hard to survive. The water cycle will be altered, carbon dioxide levels will increase, inflation will happen in oil prices, economies can also crumble following this depletion.

Q.2 How can we prevent natural resource depletion?

A.2 Everyone can do their bit to prevent this depletion. We must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels which are soon running out. Moreover, we must organize cleanliness drives to clear out water and make it safe. Other than that, instead of cutting down forests, plant more trees.

Your chance of acceptance, your chancing factors, extracurriculars, examining the difficulty levels of english classes in college.

Hey community! I'm a huge bookworm and English is definitely my strong suit in school. I'm considering it as a possible major in college but I wonder, what's the hardest English class typically offered in college? I'd love some insight from anyone who's maybe been in the same boat.

Hello there! You sound like you have a real passion for English, which is great when considering it as a possible major. The difficulty of English classes can highly vary depending on the college, and even within the same college, it might depend on the professor teaching the course. However, more advanced English classes typically involve close reading of complex texts and heavy analysis.

Many students find upper-level seminar courses to be challenging. These are usually focused on a specific theme or author (for example, "Shakespeare's Tragedies" or "Postcolonial Literature") and demand a high level of analysis and engagement with the material. These classes can be writing-intensive, with long research papers which require a thorough understanding and interpretation of the course material.

There might also be classes on literary theory or criticism which can be quite abstract and complex, involving philosophical ideas and different schools of critical thought. These might prove challenging if you are more used to reading and discussing literature in a more concrete and straightforward way.

However, challenging doesn’t have to mean unpleasant, especially if you have a real passion for the subject. Many students find these advanced, focused courses to be the highlight of their major because they allow you to dive deeply into specific areas of interest. It's also worth noting that college professors usually provide ample support and resources to help students handle the increased difficulty level of these advanced courses. As long as you prepare well and stay engaged, these classes could be an excellent opportunity for growth and learning. Good luck!
