For example, applicants to the MA in Creative and Critical Writing will need to achieve a 2:1 grade at undergraduate level. Subjects such as creative writing or English literature are preferred. A creative writing sample and a personal statement are also required as part of the application. 

Applicants to the MPhil in Archaeology will need a relevant undergraduate degree at 2:1 or first-class level, or a 2:2 degree combined with a master’s qualification. Applicants looking to conduct research towards a PhD in Archaeology are welcomed but are usually expected to have a first-class bachelor’s or a 2:1 combined with a master’s degree.

Studying abroad is a dream of many young students – the thought of indulging in a new culture and exploring a new world is an adventure to behold. For many, the opportunity to study abroad also offers the prospect of a better and secured future, making the dream a practical ambition. However, due to financial constraints, many must let go of that dream – but that does not mean you also have to.

Over the years, the barriers between international students and prestigious universities have been narrowed through the provision of international scholarships and financial aids. Thus, even you can walk the same halls the Nobel Laureates have passed through. The University of Liverpool, founded in England in 1881, is one of United Kingdom’s most elite and prestigious universities , producing no less than nine Nobel Laureates. In this article, we will be detailing some of the international scholarships that the University of Liverpool offers.

The University of Liverpool Scholarships for International Students

Undergraduate scholarships at university of liverpool.

1. Undergraduate Global Advancement Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £3,000 tuition fee deduction in the first year of study and £1,000 tuition fee reduction for each subsequent year of study provided a 70% or above class average is maintained
  • International (non-EU) students liable to pay full international tuition fees
  • Had an overall average of 70% or above in their preceding year’s study at the University of Liverpool (first attempt only)

There is no application procedure for this scholarship. Eligible students are automatically allocated for. Do note that this scholarship at the University of Liverpool is applicable only for non-clinical undergraduate degrees only. You must also have AAA grades or equivalent qualifications to be eligible for this award. The complete list of exceptions and specifics may be viewed through the scholarship link.

Students who have official sponsorship or are enrolled in online programs will not qualify for this scholarship. Other exceptions and specifics regarding this scholarship may be viewed through the scholarship link.

2. Vice Chancellor’s International Attainment Scholarship for Malaysia

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,500 fee reduction for the first year of study
  • Eligibility Criteria: International (non-EU) students from Liverpool’s partner institutions in Malaysia or Singapore

This scholarship is offered to high-achiever international students. It is only applicable for the first year of study. Students must also be pursuing a full-time Law degree.

There is no application procedure for this University of Liverpool scholarship. Eligible students will be informed and will confirm this scholarship via email. Students who have official sponsorship will not be eligible.

3. University of Liverpool Graduate Associate Hong Kong and Tung Undergraduate Scholarships

  • University of Liverpool Graduate Association Hong Kong undergraduate scholarship – £10,000
  • Tung Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship – £10,000
  • XJTLU Scholarship award – £5,000
  • International students originating from Hong Kong
  • Admitted to the University of Liverpool main campus for full-time undergraduate studies
  • For the XJTLU scholarship, an undergraduate student who spent their first two years of their program at XJTLU in Suzhou before continuing studies at the University of Liverpool

There are two donors for these scholarships – the Tung Foundation, founded by a father of Liverpool alumni, and the University of Liverpool Graduate Association (Hong Kong). The scholarships from the latter group were established through a generous donation of an anonymous individual. Hopeful recipients must prove their academic excellence.

The scholarship will cover partial tuition fees or living expenses. Students from all year levels may apply for it. Scholars must reapply for it every year. New applicants must submit an application form (which can be accessed through the scholarship link), acceptance letter from the university (prospective students only), relevant certificates and transcripts, and an academic CV. Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Liverpool

1. International Postgraduate Research Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,000 reduction in tuition fees for first year of study
  • Self-funded

Applicants must complete the IPGRS application form, which can be accessed through the scholarship link. Terms and conditions can also be seen on the same site.

This scholarship at the University of Liverpool is a tuition fee reduction only applicable for one year, after the completion of the campus registration process. It also relies on the scholar’s satisfactory progress and continued registration. Upon withdrawal, the funds will be returned to the university.

2. Vice Chancellor’s International Attainment Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,500 tuition fee reduction
  • Eligibility Criteria: International (non-EU) students liable to pay full international tuition fees

This scholarship is offered to high-achiever international students. It is only applicable for one-year full-time master’s programs. Students must also be pursuing programs other than architecture and philosophy. For other exceptions and specifics, please view the scholarship link.

3. Fulbright Scholarships

  • Master’s student – £20,000 towards tuition fees
  • Postgraduate research student – £2,500 monthly living stipend

Through the Fulbright US Student Program, postgraduate students can avail themselves of scholarships in any graduate program at any recognized UK university. Benefits depend on the type of award and the institution, and in the case of the University of Liverpool, the specific scholarship amounts can be seen above.

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Net Zero Maritime Energy Solutions (N0MES) announces a fully funded 4-year PhD position for outstanding researchers.

They are seeking candidates to tackle key challenges in maritime energy, including:

  • Generating energy from renewable sources like offshore wind and tidal power.
  • Getting that energy from offshore to onshore areas, including ports.
  • Reducing environmental impacts of offshore energy.
  • Decommissioning old energy facilities.

The UK aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by using more renewable energy. By 2030, it plans to have 50 gigawatts of offshore wind power . But installing underwater cables for this is tricky, especially in different soil types.

Their project aims to find better ways to install these cables by studying how cutting tools interact with underwater soil.
