Find competitors

Google is a great place to start.Try using Google's "related" search operator, i.e.,  related:rei.com , which gives you a list of websites that are competitors to outdoor apparel company REI.

Remember that competitors can be direct or indirect . Direct competitors sell the same product as your firm. Indirect competitors may sell a different product, but are targeting the same customer. HubSpot explains these terms .

JMU Libraries database  Data Axle Reference Solutions returns a list of competitors operating in a geographic area (U.S. only: City, State, Zip code). It's most effective if you search by industry using a NAICS code.

Identify your NAICS code

An industry is a group of businesses that produce and/or sell the same, or similar, goods or services ( Ruediger & Olsen , 2013).

The U.S. government uses the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) to collect data about economic activity in different industries.

NAICS codes are critical for finding financial benchmarks to forecast your new business' sales, revenue, expenditures, etc.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Keywords: Tuva, Early Iron Age, early Scythian period, Aldy-Bel culture, barrow, burial in the coffin, mummy, full genome sequencing, aDNA

This study illustrates the spatio-temporal dynamics of urban growth and land use changes in Samara city, Russia from 1975 to 2015. Landsat satellite imageries of five different time periods from 1975 to 2015 were acquired and quantify the changes with the help of ArcGIS 10.1 Software. By applying classification methods to the satellite images four main types of land use were extracted: water, built-up, forest and grassland. Then, the area coverage for all the land use types at different points in time were measured and coupled with population data. The results demonstrate that, over the entire study period, population was increased from 1146 thousand people to 1244 thousand from 1975 to 1990 but later on first reduce and then increase again, now 1173 thousand population. Builtup area is also change according to population. The present study revealed an increase in built-up by 37.01% from 1975 to 1995, than reduce -88.83% till 2005 and an increase by 39.16% from 2005 to 2015, along w...

Land use/Cover Change in Russia within the context of global challenges. The paper presents the results of a research project on Land Use/Cover Change (LUCC) in Russia in relations with global problems (climate change, environment and biodiversity degradation). The research was carried out at the Faculty of Geography, Moscow State University on the basis of the combination of remote sensing and in-field data of different spatial and temporal resolution. The original methodology of present-day landscape interpretation for land cover change study has been used. In Russia the major driver of land use/land cover change is agriculture. About twenty years ago the reforms of Russian agriculture were started. Agricultural lands in many regions were dramatically impacted by changed management practices, resulted in accelerated erosion and reduced biodiversity. Between the natural factors that shape agriculture in Russia, climate is the most important one. The study of long-term and short-ter...

Annals of The Association of American Geographers

Land use and land cover change is a complex process, driven by both natural and anthropogenic transformations (Fig. 1). In Russia, the major driver of land use / land cover change is agriculture. It has taken centuries of farming to create the existing spatial distribution of agricultural lands. Modernization of Russian agriculture started fifteen years ago. It has brought little change in land cover, except in the regions with marginal agriculture, where many fields were abandoned. However, in some regions, agricultural lands were dramatically impacted by changed management practices, resulting in accelerating erosion and reduced biodiversity. In other regions, federal support and private investments in the agricultural sector, especially those made by major oil and financial companies, has resulted in a certain land recovery. Between the natural factors that shape the agriculture in Russia, climate is the most important one. In the North European and most of the Asian part of the ...

In recent decades, Russia has experienced substantial transformations in agricultural land tenure. Post-Soviet reforms have shaped land distribution patterns but the impacts of these on agricultural use of land remain under-investigated. On a regional scale, there is still a knowledge gap in terms of knowing to what extent the variations in the compositions of agricultural land funds may be explained by changes in the acreage of other land categories. Using a case analysis of 82 of Russia’s territories from 2010 to 2018, the authors attempted to study the structural variations by picturing the compositions of regional land funds and mapping agricultural land distributions based on ranking “land activity”. Correlation analysis of centered log-ratio transformed compositional data revealed that in agriculture-oriented regions, the proportion of cropland was depressed by agriculture-to-urban and agriculture-to-industry land loss. In urbanized territories, the compositions of agricultura...

Despite harsh climate, agriculture on the northern margins of Russia still remains the backbone of food security. Historically, in both regions studied in this article – the Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – agricultural activities as dairy farming and even cropping were well adapted to local conditions including traditional activities such as horse breeding typical for Yakutia. Using three different sources of information – official statistics, expert interviews, and field observations – allowed us to draw a conclusion that there are both similarities and differences in agricultural development and land use of these two studied regions. The differences arise from agro-climate conditions, settlement history, specialization, and spatial pattern of economy. In both regions, farming is concentrated within the areas with most suitable natural conditions. Yet, even there, agricultural land use is shrinking, especially in Karelia. Both regions are prone to being af...

jmu business plan competition

jmu business plan competition

According to a report by the US Department of Justice, nearly one in 10 Americans experienced identity theft over a 12-month period ending in 2021, with 22% having experienced identity theft at some point in their lifetime. Losses from identity theft incidents totaled an estimated $16.4 billion, with 10% of victims becoming "severely distressed" as a result. In such a climate, protecting yourself against identity theft is increasingly important.

Experian IdentityWorks is an identity theft protection service from one of the world's leading credit reporting companies. Offering both preventative measures and damage control services, IdentityWorks can help you reduce the risk of identity theft , and in the unfortunate event that your identity is stolen, help you to reclaim it.

IdentityWorks provides well-rounded identity theft protection, including basics like credit monitoring and reports, as well as more advanced features like dark web surveillance, identity theft insurance, and lost wallet support. Experian's fraud resolution support operates on a one-to-one basis to guide you through the process of recovering from identity theft . While IdentityWorks falls short compared to the best identity theft protection services , it has all the necessary tools.

Experian offers a free IdentityWorks plan, but it comes with only a handful of basic resources. Paid plans with the full set of features are available for a free seven-day trial. Beyond that, the service costs $24.99 or $34.99 monthly depending on which plan you choose. Those rates are considerably higher than what you'll pay for some other comparable identity theft protection services.

Experian receives generally favorable reviews from customers online. The Experian mobile app is rated 4.7 stars in the Google Play store and 4.8 stars in the Apple store, based on more than 2.5 million combined reviews. The company also has a Trustpilot rating of 3.9 stars out of five across over 64,000 reviews, with 74% of reviews rating the company three stars or higher. However, these ratings pertain to Experian's services generally, and are not specific to IdentityWorks.

Experian IdentityWorks offers three different plans. The Basic plan is free and provides limited features that are widely available elsewhere. The Premium plan offers comprehensive credit monitoring, identity theft protection, and more for a monthly fee. Finally, the Family plan is nearly identical to the Premium plan, but provides service for one additional adult as well as identity monitoring for children.

Experian IdentityWorks Basic Plan

Cost:  $0

  • Experian credit report and FICO score
  • FICO score tracker and monitoring
  • Dark web surveillance report
  • Personal privacy scan

The free Basic plan includes your Experian credit report and FICO score (based on the FICO Score 8 model unless noted otherwise), FICO score tracking and monitoring, a dark web surveillance report and a personal privacy scan. Those tools are useful, but have major gaps in their coverage. The credit data pertains only to your Experian file; IdentityWorks doesn't track or monitor the other two major credit bureaus (TransUnion and Equifax).

The dark web surveillance is a one-time report that can direct you to where your personal information has been compromised; however, you'll have to provide all that personal information (such as ID numbers, bank and credit accounts, social media accounts, etc.) for the search to be effective, and the Basic plan doesn't help secure information that's already compromised. Finally, the privacy scan reveals online databases where your personal information is listed (such as data brokers, people finders and reverse phone look-up sites). However, like the dark web surveillance, the Basic plan won't help remove those listings.

What the Basic plan offers in abundance is encouragement to upgrade to the Premium plan.

Experian IdentityWorks Premium Plan

Cost:  $24.99 monthly

  • Everything included in the Basic plan
  • Advanced identity theft monitoring
  • Monthly privacy scans and help getting personal info removed
  • Tri-bureau credit monitoring and alerts
  • Dark web internet surveillance alerts
  • Financial account takeover alerts
  • Social Security number trace alerts
  • Change of address alerts
  • Court records and booking alerts
  • Non-credit loan alerts
  • Sex offender registry alerts
  • Social network monitoring alerts
  • Identity validation alerts
  • Experian CreditLock with alerts
  • Up to $1 million of identity theft insurance
  • Dedicated fraud resolution support
  • Lost wallet assistance
  • Quarterly tri-bureau credit report and FICO score

The Premium plan includes more robust versions of the features you get with the Basic plan, plus many more. Instead of credit data from Experian alone, you'll get a FICO score, credit monitoring and alerts, and quarterly credit reports from all three bureaus.

You'll also get Experian CreditLock, which lets you lock and unlock your Experian credit report instantly (online or through the Experian mobile app), and notifies you when someone attempts to access your Experian file while it's locked. It's worth noting that this feature is very similar to a  credit freeze , which is a free service offered by all three credit bureaus.

In addition to credit alerts, the Premium plan offers alerts and solutions for occasions when your personal information is used or accessed, such as Social Security monitoring. It also adds court records monitoring and financial account alerts to its roster of services, among other similar features. You'll also get social media monitoring, which many identity theft protection services don't have.

Most notably, the Premium plan offers to help remove any of your personal information it finds in its monthly privacy scans. You'll also get lost wallet assistance, a dedicated fraud resolution support line, and up to $1 million of identity theft insurance, which covers many costs (like lost wages, investigative expenses, legal defense fees and more) you may incur as a result of having your identity stolen.

Experian IdentityWorks Family Plan

Cost:  $34.99 monthly

  • Everything included in the Premium plan
  • Premium plan for one additional adult
  • Identity monitoring for up to ten children

The Family plan includes the same features as the Premium plan, but with coverage for more than one member. The Family plan offers service for two adults instead of one, so you can add a spouse, family member or other eligible member age eighteen or older without enrolling them separately. Adult members can only view their own IdentityWorks profiles and data. Neither the primary account holder nor the additional adult member can view or receive the other's credit information, alerts, reports, or other membership details.

Additionally, the Family plan includes identity monitoring for up to ten children. Enrolled children must be younger than 18, and the primary account holder must be the certified parent or legal guardian of all enrolled children — Experian may require proof of guardianship, such as an enrolled child's Social Security card or birth certificate.

Only the primary account holder can view alerts for enrolled children (even if the second enrolled adult is also a parent or legal guardian). Children enrolled in IdentityWorks may be automatically removed within seven days of their 18th birthday, after which the primary member will no longer receive monitoring information for that child.

The three Experian IdentityWorks plans are priced according to their respective benefits.

PlanCost
Experian IdentityWorks Basic$0
Experian IdentityWorks Premium$24.99 monthly
Experian IdentityWorks Family$34.99 monthly

No payment method is required for enrollment in the Basic plan, but you must provide a valid credit card to enroll in the Premium and Family plans (even to start the free seven-day trial membership).

The free trial can be canceled anytime within seven days of enrollment at no cost. Once the free trial period has expired and you decide not to cancel, you will be charged the monthly fee. You can then cancel your membership anytime, but you won't receive any refund (prorated or otherwise) of the monthly fee once it has been paid.

As the primary account holder on a Family plan, you can add and remove enrolled adults and children from the account. However, if you remove all other enrolled members, you will continue to pay the Family plan rate unless you update your membership; you will not be automatically downgraded to the Premium plan even with no additional members enrolled.

You can enroll in Experian IdentityWorks easily via the program's landing page on the Experian website. You'll need to provide some sensitive personal information, including your Social Security number, birthdate, address and phone number. You'll also need a valid credit card for billing when enrolling in the free trial membership for the Premium or Family plans.

Note that some features are not available immediately upon enrollment. Experian FICO score monitoring begins within 48 hours of enrollment, while Equifax and TransUnion monitoring begin within four days of enrollment (where applicable).

Experian IdentityWorks offers all the must-have features Business Insider looks for when rating identity theft protection services . However, it lacks any features that would make it stand out among its competitors.

Experian's US-based fraud resolution team provides dedicated, one-to-one support until your case is resolved, helping you to freeze credit files, contact creditors and law enforcement, close accounts, and more. IdentityWorks also offers dark web and court record monitoring that are generally not offered by free services and provides three-bureau credit monitoring.

IdentityWorks also rates well in customer support thanks to its free trial and anytime cancellation policy. However, it doesn't compare favorably to other top identity theft protection services in terms of price. At $24.99 per month, IdentityWorks Premium plan is more than double the cost of some competitors with similar features. The same goes for the IdentityWorks Family plan, which covers two adults and up to ten children for $34.99 per month, versus five adults and unlimited children for as low as $20 per month with Aura Identity Theft Protection.

Experian IdentityWorks vs. LifeLock by Norton

LifeLock by Norton is an identity theft protection service from Norton, one of the leading names in identity theft protection. LifeLock Ultimate Plus, the most expensive plan, offers roughly the same features as IdentityWorks for a higher price set at $34.99 monthly or $239.88 for first year, then $339.99 upon renewal. However, Norton 360 with LifeLock is a swiss army knife of cybersecurity and identity protection features

Notably, IdentityWorks premium offers cheaper tri-bureau credit monitoring than LifeLock. However, IdentityWorks can't compare to the utility that Norton 360 with LifeLock provides. Additionally, LifeLock also offers annual discounts.

Read our LifeLock review here.

Experian IdentityWorks vs. Aura

Aura only offers just one plan, foregoing the tiered structure that many other identity protection services use. Priced at $15 monthly or $144 annually, Aura offers some of the best identity theft protection at its price point. With tri-bureau credit monitoring, cybersecurity features, and family plans, Aura is the identity theft protection service to beat.

Unfortunately, IdentityWorks offers fewer features than Aura at nearly twice the price. Aura also offers a 14-day free trail compared to IdentityWorks' seven-day trial period.

Read our Aura review here.

Experian IdentityWorks vs. IdentityForce

At $29.95 monthly for its premium Ultrasecure+Credit plan, IdentityForce outmuscles IdentityWorks with a comprehensive selection of identity theft and cybersecurity features. While IdentityForce is one of the top identity theft protection services, it's also one of the best credit monitoring services .

Beyond these features, IdentityForce also offers a 30-day free trial, refunds on unused services, and family plans.

Read our IdentityForce review here.

Most identity theft services follow the same tiered pricing system, offering more features for more money. Because these companies also offer similar services for their premium service, we rate companies based on what they offer at what price point. Along the way, we note exceptional inclusions and exceptional exclusions. We pay particular attention to public records and dark web monitoring as those services are difficult to replicate on your own.

While this is our primary consideration when we rate identity theft protection companies, we also look at a company's Better Business Bureau rating to see how responsive it is to its customers. We consider aspects such as return policies and free trial offerings.

While IdentityWorks' paid plan includes all the basic features that a paid identity protection service should provide, it offers little else. Many other companies have longer trial periods, more features, and better return policies. However, IdentityWorks' basic plan can be good for very light identity protection if that's all you desire.

You can find our full explanation on  how we rate identity theft protection services .
