If I had a chance to travel, I would definitely love to go to Paris, France. Why I want to visit Paris the most out of all the other places in the world? Well, it is simply because I have always dreamt to go to Paris ever since I was five. I was inspired by some of the movies I used to watch when I was little. There is always a scene where there is romance or happiness and that scene will definitely take place in the beautiful capital of France, Paris. Besides, I would absolutely love to see the amazing Eiffel Tower with my very own eyes and not just in photographs or accessories. Paris, the capital city of France is often known as the city of romance and is a city steeped in art and culture. Like many of its neighbouring European cities, Paris is full of beautiful architecture and museums showcasing fine art from some of the world’s most respected artists. Between the 1500s and 1800s, Paris was in fact the largest city in the entire world. The romantic reputation of Paris is likely to come from stories of Casanova’s presence in the city and his seductive and promiscuous ways. Three of the most famous Parisian landmarks are the 12th-century cathedral Notre Dame de Paris, the Napoleonic Arc de Triomphe and the 19th-century Eiffel Tower. It has been my biggest dream ever to visit all of these places because I feel great and enthusiastic when it comes to travelling. I am curious about the landscape and the scenery in Paris. I am pretty sure that it would look fantastic just like I dreamt it would be. In addition, I am interested to witness the lifestyle in Paris like their cuisines, houses, songs and clothes too. The largest opera houses of Paris are the 19th century Opéra Garnier and the modern Opéra Bastille; the former tends towards the more classic ballets and operas, and the latter provides a mixed repertoire of classic and modern. Where would YOU go if you could have the vacation of your dreams?
For me, If I could choose the vacation of my dreams, I would definitely choose southern Europe. Although the USA is far from here, it is possible to reach to Europe by plane. Why do I want to travel to countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal or Greece? The answer is simple; their climate is perfect and their ancient buildings and monuments teach about the birth of Western Civilization. I would love to go to the airport today and buy a ticket to start my journey in Greece.
Greece is the cradle of Western Civilization. Such philosophers as Aristotle, Plato and Socrates generated their wise ideas and ‘invented’ philosophy in Greece. Very soon, their thoughts spread in other European countries. I would like to visit Greece in order to understand the influence of the country’s nature, people and cuisine on our culture. Their influence has been positive because of so many talented personalities originating from this magnificent place. I would love to start my vacation in Athens. This ancient city, the capital of Greece, is full of marvelous monuments and prehistoric buildings that have survived until our time. I would like to walk about the old city and admire the historical places of interest.
It would be foolish to leave Greece without trying its cuisine. Greeks are famous for their love for dairy products, olives, fish and of course wine. They manage to combine these ingredients to produce splendid dishes.
The second stop of my journey would be Italy. But I am confused about which places to visit with so many great choices. The most obvious place is Rome, the capital of Italy. This ancient city is supposed to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. The Colosseum, Vatican City, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain would all be worth visiting. The entire city is practically a big monument and a complex of historic buildings that impress your mind. I would like to spend a few days wandering around and visiting its cozy restaurants and pizzerias.
I would try all possible kinds of pizza if I were in Italy because this dish is one of my favorites. It would be a crime to miss the chance to eat a genuine Italian pizza cooked in its motherland. Then, I should definitely try different sorts of the Italian wine. I would like to devote a day or two to the exploration of the small villas and private households that grow grapes and produce their wine.
If I am in Italy, I should go to Venice. This city is known all over the world due to its unique position and organization. When I was a child I dreamt to visit Venice, this magical city placed on the water. You will not see a car or scooter there because native citizens travel about Venice by boats. I want to look at the police, vendors and public transport that function on boats. In addition, Venice is rich in Gothic architecture. It is difficult to imagine something more imposing that looking at Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco and Doge’s Palace from your gondola. I suppose, I will feel like in a fairy tale when I decide to spend a week in the city on the water. I would try to visit this spectacular city during the carnival that gathers thousands of people in the streets wearing masks and weird costumes.
Next would be Spain. Barcelona is the primary city in my ‘must see’ list. The city is known for its architecture and lifestyle. I have dreamt about visiting the Sagrada Familia for years. I think this historic church will definitely impress me with its size and beauty. Then, I will look at the other Gaudi masterpieces that have made Barcelona famous. Barcelona Cathedral, The Arc de Triomf, The National Museum of Art of Catalonia and other places of interest are worth attention. The Barcelona beach is the ideal place to have a good rest. Its pure water and well known parties will make your vacation unforgettable. Although I am not a big fan of soccer, I would like to visit the museum of the strongest European team in Barcelona. Moreover, it would be nice to watch the game at the largest stadium in Europe called Camp Nou.
I suppose I would finish my vacation in Barcelona and fly home by plane from it's airport. I believe that these experiences and impressions obtained in the picturesque and warm southern European countries will stay with me for years. Obviously, I will try to turn this dream vacation into reality.

Switzerland offers a great public transportation system. The Swiss Railway System lets everyone enjoy a fast and efficient way to explore the country.
It’s most popular trains — Bernina Express, the Gotthard Express, and the Glacier Express — are included in Alpenwild’s rail tour that showcases the beauty of the scenic Alps. What’s more, you can explore the entire nation with just one ticket that works for all kinds of transportation.
Also, the country is in the heart of Europe. This means you have quick access to the neighboring nations in Europe’s central and southern regions.

Other than the popular snowy mountains, the country is also famous for many wonderful natural and human-made attractions. Castles, for instance, are the perfect spot for history and architecture geeks.
They are well preserved and sit beautifully against fantastic natural backdrops. Just a tip: the Chillon Castle is one thing you must not miss when you visit the French region.

Why Venice Is Still Everyone’s Dream Destination

A group of small islands connected by a series of ornate bridges, Venice maintains an aura of romanticism that attracts both first-time explorers and experienced travellers. Here’s why Venice is impossible to ignore as a dream destination.
“You will get lost and lost and lost again…” Italian travel expert Elena Sisti from Elesta Travel tells Culture Trip when asked about her tips for discovering Venice. Her top piece of advice for navigating the winding alleys and endless canals of Venice? “Forget Google Maps and get a passionate local to take you around the city.”
There are a number of companies that can be found offering orientation tours, and Sisti personally recommends the husband-and wife-team of Matteo Gabbrielli and Erika Cornali from When in Venice . Even a casual browse of the website will have you searching for flights to the city; there’s an allure to Venice that makes it feel like nowhere else on Earth, and those who live here are best placed to help you experience this magic for yourself.
As with all popular tourist destinations, the summer months are the busiest and the most expensive. The unique structure of the city also poses challenges for visitors, but you can get to Venice with relative ease if you plan in advance. The main island of Venice has no roads, which means that travelling by car isn’t an option, so a water taxi or a vaporetto (water bus) are the most popular modes of transport in the city. Rail journeys all terminate at Santa Lucia station, which sees over 450 trains arrive every day; there are other stations on the mainland, but these require additional transfers to get to Venice proper. Shuttle buses also operate from the airport. However, the trains and shuttles don’t really have the same appeal; there’s nothing like approaching Venice from the water, watching the city spires rise from the lagoon as though in a dream.
Everyone who comes to Venice heads straight for Piazza San Marco (San Marco Square). “You should visit Chiesa delle Zitelle, an Andrea Palladio project, from where you enjoy one of the best views of the San Marco Square,” Sisti suggests. Venetian architecture is celebrated around the world, and Palladio is regarded as one of the most important names. His work, influenced by ancient Roman and Greek structures, remains a huge part of Venice’s appeal, and includes some of the best buildings of the Renaissance period.
However, Sisti urges visitors to explore beyond the typical landmarks of the city, too. “The city centre is unmissable, but there are many places where you can enjoy a more relaxed environment. Palazzo Grimani di San Luca has a wonderful courtyard. There are also the ospedaletti [small hospitals] like Ospedale di Santa Maria dei Derelitti, one of the oldest retirement homes in Venice. Founded in AD 978, they were designed for old, widows and poor people in general.” Today, many of the churches and former churches are used for concerts, and house incredible works of Renaissance art that can be seen for a fraction of the cost of going to a gallery.
Two of the most well-known symbols of Venice are its intricate, often colourful glasswork, and the beautiful gondolas that traverse the canals around the city. To get the best experience of both, Sisti suggests heading to the sestiere (district) of Cannaregio, which is still mostly inhabited by city residents. “This is the centre of the Jewish community in Venice; the word ‘ghetto’ originated here many years ago. One of my absolute favourites places here is the Fornace Orsoni – seeing how they make by hand the 24-carat gold mosaic tesserae is unbelievable. You can enter workshops of glass artists like Igor Balbi – his pieces of art are unbelievable – or the Tramontin Sisters, who have opened a traditional gondola-making shop [ squero ] using ancient techniques.”

Although every street and canal in Venice seems steeped in history, Sisti has some less well-known recommendations for exploring the staggering past of this city, which was once an empire. “For history buffs heading to Venice, the Lazzaretti Veneziani are a must to understand Venice and its power and importance,” Sisti says. “People were allowed to disembark at the Lazzaretti, the ‘Ellis Island of Venice’. The city was a huge commercial port and the coming and going of people made the city exposed to illnesses from all over the world. That is why Venice invented quarantine, that was then used afterwards all over the world.”
Some quarantine stations are still open to the public – although, of course, they are entirely safe now. “The New Lazzaretto allows you to visit the old structure and see the barene , the small original floating island on which Venice was built. The Old Lazzaretto will soon be the home of the City Museum of Venice.”
