The Lumen5 interface is simple and easy to grasp. There are two very similar interfaces, one that has a content tab for when you upload a blog post or long text and the interface to use with templates. The only difference is the content tab.

Text layouts have limited customizations for placement and animation. All animations are automatic but can be personalized to some extent.

The main size is horizontal presentation but you can also switch to square and vertical.

Powtoon is a cloud-based video presentation software.

The editor interface on Powtoon has two options. Editor and Creator. When you choose a template, the editor interface opens on Edit, with options to customize the content in the template. 

By switching to Create, then many more options show up and you can add lots of things to a video presentation.

Powtoon has thousands of templates in five categories; modern edge, whiteboard, cartoon, infographic and real. All the templates are available before starting a project and also once inside the editor. 

You can also import PowerPoint presentations as a beta feature.

The visuals available are varied and extensive. There are thousands of different animated characters, which is what Powtoon is known for. Additionally, there are icons, shapes, design elements, images and video clips. 

There are charts but they are not editable. Apart from those, there are no data visualization tools available.

There is no practical brand kit available but since the editing options are extensive, videos can be branded to some extent. The ability to upload fonts is only available in the highest subscription.

The classic PowerPoint software,  and powerful Google Slide alternative ,  can also be used as a video presentation software. 

Any presentation created with PowerPoint can be saved as a video in MP4 or MOV file. You simply create a presentation how you would normally, add animations and audio, then export or save as an MP4 or MOV file.

Don’t forget that you can also import a PPTX presentation to Visme and add all of our visual features to make an even better video presentation.

The PowerPoint interface has a toolbar on top just like all Microsoft software. There are many options for creating video presentations, from animated titles, images and graphics to creative transitions between slides. 

The slides are organized on the left hand tab and slide templates are added easily with different layouts to choose from.

Undo and redo options are controlled with keyboard shortcuts ctrl+Z and ctrl+Y.

Keynote has a number of available templates to start designing. There haven’t been any new ones added to the program lately. You can import any templates from third party sites like Envato.

The only available visuals in Keynote are icons and charts. Images and videos can be uploaded from your computer easily but there aren’t any available inside the software. The visuals that are available in the software can all be animated

Keynote offers a number of charts and graphs in three different styles, flat, 3D and interactive. Input the data in a sheet inside the program manually.

Branded video presentations are created easily by using a brand’s color palette but Keynote will only let you use Apple fonts.

Upload audio clips are uploaded into a video presentation directly for your computer. There are no available audio files inside the program. You can record a voiceover with your microphone.

Out of all the film pitch decks I've come across (and trust me, there have been a lot), this one is definitely up there as one of my favourites.

A lot of decks either overwhelm you with details or get too caught up in the plot, forgetting to explain why investors and producers should actually care. This one strikes the perfect balance.

It not only makes a strong case for why it's worth investing in but also goes further by highlighting the benefits for everyone involved in the production, broken down by their role and seniority.

I also love how it covers every part of the production process—from budget and production to distribution and promotion. They've even planned the public release dates to fit with the film's environmental message. This is how it should be done!

Where the Buffalo Roam

What I love about this movie pitch deck is how it really zeroes in on the business and financial side of pitching films.

Honestly, I've never seen such a solid investment strategy or a budget that accounts for every single dollar.

And the projections model? I don't think I've seen that in any other film pitch deck. It's a great source of inspiration if you want to include something like that in yours.

The only downside is that the static format makes some of those tiny numbers hard to read. But if you presented this as an interactive deck, that issue would be an easy fix.

Beneath the Remains

This feature film pitch deck is perfect if you're all about using visuals to bring your vision to life.

It's packed with images and moodboards for almost every part of the film, right down to specific houses for shooting locations. There's even a whole slide just for the music.

Along with the plot and character descriptions, it makes it so easy to grasp the film's premise. It really draws you in and leaves you wondering what happens next.

The only downside is that it skips the financial and technical slides, so you'd need to pull ideas from other decks to make it feel complete.

Ever Faithful

I chose this movie pitch deck because it's a perfect example of how to ask for music rights , not just pitch a film idea to producers.

I'm one of those people who cry every time there's even a hint of a sad story involving animals. So, just reading the logline and synopsis hit me right in the feels.

I love that it mentions the nonprofit beneficiary. Along with a solid distribution and outreach plan, it really makes a strong case for why someone should get on board with this project. I really hope Dolly Parton saw it and said yes!

Hunter's Creed

What I love about this film pitch deck is how it lays out all the details and backs up their choice of filming technique—the found footage genre—with a clear list of advantages.

It also does a great job justifying the project by highlighting its niche audience and then following up with a solid plan for production, distribution, and promotion .

The deck even lists the distributors and sales agents they're already in talks with and mentions the awards the script has won.

It really boosts confidence in the film's market potential and makes a strong case for getting this movie made.

Film production pitch deck

After going through all those static film pitch decks, as good as they were, this one instantly reminded me why interactive decks are just on another level.

It's the most comprehensive deck I've seen, yet it never feels like too much.

You've got 'Read more' buttons, tabs you can click through at your own pace, and slides where extra info unfolds as you scroll. It makes presenting your vision so much more engaging and easy to digest.

Film sponsorship pitch deck

What grabbed me right away with this film sponsorship pitch deck was the video on the cover slide. It gave me a feel for the film's mood, style, and tone before I even read a word of the pitch.

My favourite slide has to be the budget one. It doesn't just show the total budget; it breaks it down by each stage of production.

It goes even further with expandable sections, so you can see exactly where every dollar is going .

When you're applying for sponsorships, this kind of transparency can really set you apart.

Any presentation will be more effective with thoughtful curation that eliminates information that ... [+] doesn't support your main point.

One of the challenges with any presentation is deciding what to leave out. In many of my presentation training sessions, the first version has no strong focal point, is crammed full of data and supported by stories that go on too long. I encourage people to take a fresh look at their plethora of fascinating information and determine what’s essential in persuading their audience.

Know Your Goal

Framing your goal is an important exercise in any presentation. A goal is never simply informing your CEO or prospective client. You want to persuade them and establish an emotional connection to get to the next phase. Look at what in your arsenal is superfluous to your goal in this particular case.

Edit Your Stories

Storytelling is how we remember things, and there’s no question that using stories in a presentation is a great way to win hearts and be memorable. This issue is when you start with “once upon a time” and go through to “happily ever after” with 90 minutes of The Princes Bride in between.

The key is to look at what part of your story supports the goal of your presentation. I sometimes tell a story about how my seven-year-old nephew didn’t think second grade could teach him anything. The family version of the story has a play-by-play script, but the presentation version focuses on his quote “I’ve known how to read for years.” My point is that many people don’t learn how to communicate effectively because they’ve been reading and writing (and talking and texting) for years. My goal is to help people understand that learning some principles will help them be more effective. We don’t need all the cute quotes from a skeptical child to prolong the story when I’ve already made my point.

The best way I’ve heard this described is to think about the movie trailer in the cinema, not the full feature film.

Many of my presentation coaching clients lay out their case and let the presentation trail off with a “thank you for having us.” A stronger finish is to give a brief-and-bright recap. “Today we’ve covered the need for A, and how this is possible with program B and initiative C. I hope I’ve convinced you to take a strong look at this option when making your decision.”

A recap reminds your audience about your key points in case they are mentally distracted about what’s coming up in their next meeting, or physically distracted by their phone buzzing with a series of texts.

Thoughtful curation has another bonus. If you’ve edited your presentation down to only the essential elements, you won’t be caught flat footed if the person ahead of you goes on too long, or you’ll have the luxury of a thoughtful Q&A session where you can deepen your relationship with your audience. Regardless, do your audience a favor by getting to the point.

iOS 18 Memory Movie is one of Apple Intelligence’s best features — here’s how to use it

You can use AI to auto-assemble a slideshow

If you've ever looked at the Memories in the Photos app on your iPhone and longed to create your own slideshow using photos and videos from your library, Apple Intelligence is about to grant you your wish. Among the AI-powered features coming to your iPhone via Apple Intelligence is the ability to create a Movie Memory using nothing more than a text prompt.

As of this writing, Memory Movie joins other Apple Intelligence features as only available through the iOS 18.1 public beta. Even then, you can only tap into Apple Intelligence features if you have a compatible phone — an iPhone 15 Pro , iPhone 15 Pro Max or any of the new iPhone 16 models . So as cool as the Memory Movie capability is, it's not a feature everyone will be able to use.

Still, if you do have a compatible phone running iOS 18.1, you should give Memory Movie a try. I spent some time creating Memory Movies on an iPhone 15 Pro, and I was generally pleased with the results, though like many Apple Intelligence tools, this one remains a work in progress.

Find out for yourself just how polished feature is by following these steps to create a Memory Movie on your iPhone.

How to create a Memory Movie in iOS 18

1. head to the photos app to create a memory movie.

On your iPhone, launch the Photos app and scroll down to find the Memories section . (Remember, you can customize the iOS 18 Photos app so that Memories appears wherever you want it to.) When you find Memories, you'll see a prompt to create a Memory Movie in the first window of the carousel, as well as a Create command. Tap either one to get started.

The Memory Movie feature has some prompts that you can tap to get started. Or you can type in your own idea for a movie . I find the more specific the prompt the better. You can also suggest a music style to accompany your slideshow — a feature that works best if you're an Apple Music subscriber and can pull from a wider library of songs. When you've completed your prompt, hit the Done button or the up arrow in the text field.

3. Watch your Memory Movie

Here's where you sit back and let Apple Intelligence do its thing. You'll see photos from your library and keywords come together while the Memory Movie is assembled. When everything's put together, the movie starts playing automatically .

4. Edit your Memory Movie's music and filters

Apple Intelligence picks the music for your Memory Movie automatically, but if you'd like to mix things up, tap the musical note icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. On the ensuing Memory Mixes screen, you can scroll to the right to hear more potential soundtracks or tap on the music note icon with the plus button to see a list of suggestions. Next to that is a filters button; tap that to change the filter of the photos in your Memory Movie. (Whatever filter you select will apply all images in the movie.) 

Tap on the Memory Mix screen to go back to the main view.

5. Perform additional edits

You may want to make additional changes to the assembled Memory Movie. If so, tap on the More button in the upper right corner of the screen. (It's the one with three dots.) A menu will appear with your options. Here's where you can write a new title for your Memory Movie or edit the movie timeline . 

Choose that latter option, and you see a grid of the images that appear in your Memory Movie. You can reorder the slides by dragging and dropping them anywhere in the timeline. Pressing and holding on a slide gives you the option to hide it from the movie; you can also opt to make that slide a key image in the movie, too. The Plus button in the lower right corner lets you manually select photos from your library for this Movie Memory.

6. Give feedback on the Memory Movie you've created

Because Movie Memory is in beta, Apple would appreciate your feedback so that Apple Intelligence gets, well, smarter about assembling these slideshows. To give feedback, tap the feedback icon in the lower right corner. You can then s elect whether the slideshow looks good or if there's a problem . If the latter, you get a list of potential problems, and you can tick off as many that apply. (Samples include the wrong music, images that didn't match your prompt and so on.) Whether good or bad, you can then upload a report to Apple.

7. Delete your Memory Movie

Did the Memory Movie miss the mark? That's OK, you're not stuck with it. From the Memories carousel in the main Photos interface, just tap and hold on the Memory Movie . From the pop up menu that appears, you can select Delete Memory . The Feature Less option will also show the movie less if you're merely lukewarm about it. You can also pin or favorite the movie from here if you're a fan.

Lily Gladstone and Bowen Yang to star in ‘The Wedding Banquet’ remake

Lily Gladstone  and  Bowen Yang  will star in Bleecker Street and Shivhans Pictures’ remake of Ang Lee’s 1993 romantic comedy “The Wedding Banquet” from director  Andrew Ahn .

Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar winner Yuh-jung Youn and Joan Chen are also attached to star.

The reimagination of Lee’s Oscar-nominated film is based on a screenplay by Ahn and James Schamus. Schamus also co-wrote the original film with Lee and Neil Peng. 

The film, which begins filming in May in Vancouver, follows what happens when Min’s boyfriend Chris rejects his marriage proposal. Min convinces his best friend Angela to marry him instead, paying for her partner Liz’s IVF treatments in exchange for his green card. However, things begin to unravel when Min’s grandmother makes a surprise trip from Seoul to throw the couple a Korean wedding banquet.

“It warms my heart to see how my film from so many years ago has inspired a new generation to reimagine a new and different version,” Lee said in a statement Thursday. “I look forward to seeing what Andrew Ahn and his wonderful cast create.”

Lee's original film was added to the Library of Congress' National Film Registry last year. His groundbreaking 2005 film, "Brokeback Mountain," is also in the registry.

“I’m delighted to re-team with my longtime friend and colleague, James Schamus, on this inspired reimagining of a classic rom-com for the modern era,” said Andrew Karpen, founder and CEO of Bleecker Street. “Andrew Ahn is a force to be reckoned with and I’m very excited to see the new heights that he and James will take this story to.”
