You will need to know about the SUM , AVERAGE , IF , VLOOKUP , INDEX , MATCH , ROUNDUP , UNIQUE , COUNTIF , LEFT , SEARCH , MID , RIGHT , LEN , FIND , SUBSTITUTE , AND , and SUMIF functions and the Data Bars feature of Excel. If you have Excel 2010 or later, you can solve these problems, except for the UNIQUE function, which is only available in Excel 2021 .

Excel Lesson Plan- Make Your First Chart

This Excel lesson plan teaches beginning Excel users to enter data and create a simple spreadsheet with a chart. The instructions are for Microsoft Excel, but the data and chart can be recreated using whatever spreadsheet app you have available. When printing the finished excel chart, be sure to have the students use "print preview" to check the proper positioning of the chart and data to fit on a single page before printing. I have used this successfully with 2nd and 3rd graders, but your mileage may vary.

Weekly Student Planner Templates

Students in Middle School and High School need some way to keep track of their assignments and activities. Some schools put together a spiral-bound "student agenda" that each student is required to purchase and use. These "agendas" (I prefer the term "student planner") typically include calendars, school rules, and a lot of weekly planner pages for listing assignments. If your school doesn't provide something like this, you can buy your own student planner or print your own planner pages using templates like the ones on this page.

Printing Two-Sided (Duplex Mode): These 2-page weekly planner pages are designed for printers that can handle printing on both sides of the page. Some instructions are provided on the cover page within each template. If your printer cannot print two-sided, your printer may allow a manual duplex mode (where you flip the pages yourself and reinsert them into the printer). Follow your printer's instructions for manual duplex printing. Experiment with a few pages at first to avoid wasting paper.

Student Planner - Weekday Columns / Subject Rows

Student Planner - Weekday Columns

⤓ Download XLSX For: Excel 2010 or later

This is one of the most popular weekly student planners. It lists the weekdays along the top and includes rows for up to 7 different subjects. You can list other activities on the bottom row and weekly action items and notes on the right side of the second page. You only need to edit the subjects on the first page. All the other pages will update based on the first page.

Student Planner - Subject Columns / Weekday Rows

Student Planner - Subject Columns

This version lists the Subjects along the top with the weekdays as rows. The to-do and notes sections are included on the second page at the bottom. Like the other templates, the Excel file allows you to edit the subjects listed at the top.

Weekly Student Planner - Basic

Weekly Student Planner - Basic

This is a basic version that lists subjects along the top and rows for each weekday. It doesn't include an action items or notes section, but it does still include the columns that can be used to check off the daily assignments.

Print/Save as PDF

Do you teach middle or high school computer applications classes? If so, it's likely that your standards include requirements on teaching Microsoft Office.

As a computer applications curriculum developer, teachers often ask how we help teach Microsoft Office and prepare students for MOS certification.

While we provide a Microsoft Office curriculum system, our solution may not be the best fit for everyone.

Some teachers are only looking for supplemental resources or tips on improving their existing lessons.

If that's the type of information you're looking for, you're in the right place!

In this article, you'll discover Microsoft Office lesson plans and teaching tips for:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Access
  • Microsoft Publisher
  • Microsoft Office Specialist Certification

For each of these topics, you'll find a list of recommended resources to help you teach the best Microsoft Office lessons possible.

Microsoft-Word-Projects-e1435676698158-2

Microsoft Word is often the first jumping off point for many computer applications classes. Rather than spend hours creating your own Microsoft Word lesson plans and activities, wouldn't you like some that you can just integrate into your existing curriculum?

That's where this post can help: Microsoft Word Lesson Plans to Wow Your Students

It contains a number of resources that you can use to teach your middle or high school students to use Microsoft Word.

Want more than just Microsoft Word lesson plans to supplement your existing curriculum?

Business&ITCenter21 has lessons, quizzes, and projects to teach your students all about Microsoft Word.

The curriculum begins with Microsoft Word Essentials, which introduces your students to the basics of the application.

Next, you can use the Microsoft Word Fundamentals lessons to give students a more in depth look at formatting content within a Word document.

Once they have mastered the basics, your students can move on to the Microsoft Word Skills Project to put their skills to the test. The project requires learners to start from scratch and fully create a document.

If you want to take it one step further, you can assign the Microsoft Word Business Project, which requires students to create a job description booklet using more advanced skills.

Looking for additional tips? Read this article: How to Teach Microsoft Word in Middle School

2. Microsoft Excel Lesson Plans

Let's face it--Excel isn't the most exciting Microsoft application out there. So what can you do to spice up your Microsoft Excel lesson plans? Make them relevant to your students!

Next, students can work through Microsoft Excel Fundamentals. This module provides an overview of the fundamentals of Microsoft Excel, including relative and absolute cell references, common functions, and formatting.

If you need to cover more advanced skills and features within Excel, you can assign the Microsoft Excel Skills Project or Microsoft Excel Business Project.
