Emcee 1 : To be given life, is a gift. To be given a chance to celebrate the gift of life is a blessing. A happy afternoon everyone and welcome to (Auntie’s) 75th birthday party!

Emcee 2 : Today, is a very special day, not only because we are celebrating (Auntie’s) birthday but also because God has given us this wonderful opportunity to gather here at (the venue) to make Auntie feel special and see how much we love and care for her.

Emcee 1 : Are you excited to see how much our birthday celebrant, has grown in the past years, and how does she look today? Well, your wish is my command! So what are we waiting for? Ladies and gentlemen, The Grand Entrance of our Birthday Celebrant! Let us all welcome her with resounding applause! (While the celebrant is doing her entrance, the emcee may have some adlibs- maybe give some descriptions about the celebrant. Then, you may also play a birthday song or any of the celebrant’s favorite songs.)

(Once the birthday celebrated has already seated preferably in front of everybody),

Emcee 2 : Happy birthday (Auntie) Today, you are 18 years old with 57 years experience. (he.he.he) And present here today to celebrate with you your special day, are your family, relatives, and friends who love you dearly.

Emcee 1 : First on the list, we have (the family of _____). (As their family/name is mentioned, let them stand to be recognized.) ( Just do the same in welcoming all the other guests. After all the guests have been called),

Emcee 2 : To everyone who is present here this afternoon, thank you so much for coming and making Auntie’s birthday a memorable one.

Emcee 1 : Because you are so special to us (Auntie), we also prepared special numbers for you. Just sit back and relax and be entertained with our presentations.

Emcee 2 : Our first presenter is/are ________________. Let’s welcome him/her/them with a round of applause!

Emcee 1 : That was such an amazing performance! (The emcee may do some adlibs about the performance or may ask the birthday celebrants some questions like: Were you entertained by their performance Auntie? he.he.he… Do you want some more?)

Emcee 2 : Don’t worry Auntie, just be happy because this afternoon, you will be witnessing a variety of talents because we are all talented like you…. he.he.he… At this juncture, let’s welcome another presentation from (Presenter number 2). Let’s put our hands together as we welcome Presenter number 2, on the dance floor!) (Continue calling all the presenters. To make the party alive and jolly, you may do adlibs in between presentations or you may also throw jokes at your audience.)

Emcee 1 : After having witnessed such incredible performances, let us now hear some birthday messages from our celebrant’s family, relatives, and friends. The first to give her birthday message is ( name of the person, description about the person, and the person’s relation to the birthday celebrant.) Let’s welcome her/him with a big hand!

Emcee 2: Thank you so much Ma’am/Sir _________. At this moment, let’s hear another birthday message from __________. A round of applause please! (Call all those who want to give a birthday message to the celebrant. You may have your way of doing it.) (Get ready with the video greetings…)

Emcee 1 : Once again, thank you so much Ma’am and Sir for your well wishes for (Auntie). But hey, is it true that if you really love a person no distance can stop you from showing it to the person you love?

Emcee 2: Yes, it’s really true! (Auntie), be ready to get surprised as you watch this video… (Play the video-(messages for Auntie from relatives afar)

Emcee 1 : (Auntie), we are not done yet. This time, get your hands ready and heartily accept our birthday gifts for you…This is one of our ways of saying thank you to you for the things that you have done for us. Thank you so much for everything (Auntie). We love you very much! (Suggestion: The people who will give gifts will fall in line, take turns in giving the gifts first, then, have a (short) dance with (Auntie). You may prepare a piece of slow music or music that (Auntie) loves. The table for the gifts must be near to Auntie and must be prepared before the program starts.)

After the gift giving, it’s (Auntie’s) time…

Emcee 2 : Auntie, your birthday party will not be complete without us singing a “Happy Birthday Song” to you and without you making your birthday wish and blowing your Birthday Candle. So, everybody, let us sing a Happy Birthday song to (Auntie) in 1, 2, 3!!!! (Happy Birthday to you….) (While you are singing a birthday song to (Auntie), the birthday cake must also be given to her. You could assign someone to bring the cake to Auntie or you could just place the birthday cake at the table where (Auntie) is seated.)

Emcee 1 : Auntie, make your birthday wish and blow your candle in 1, 2, 3!!!! Blow! Auntie, may your wish do come true!!!! Everybody, let’s greet (Auntie) a Happy Birthday in 1, 2, 3!!!! Happy Birthday (Auntie)!!!!!!

Emcee 2: At this juncture, let’s hear some words from our celebrant. Let’s welcome her with a big, big hand!

Emcee 1 : Thank you so much, (Auntie). Once again, happy, happy birthday to you. We love you very much! This time, let’s try to see how close you are to (Auntie) and how much do you know about her. Are you ready to answer our trivia questions about (Auntie)? (Mechanics of the Game: If you know the answer to the question, go to the front and give your answer. Whoever gives the correct answer first, will win the prize.)

Emcee 2 : First question: What is (Auntie’s) complete name, (with middle name)? Second question: When was (Auntie) born? (Complete date; month/day/year) Next game: Bring me a photo of you with (Auntie) (You may also create your own games)

Emcee 1 : Congratulations to all our winners. Thank you so much for your active participation! It is indeed a memorable and fun-filled birthday celebration.

Emcee 2 : After the sharing of talents, birthday messages and wishes, it is now time for us to share the food that we have prepared. Let me now call on ____________ to lead the Prayer Before Meals.

10 Essential Parts of a Debut

We break down the parts of a customary debut party. Discover the reasons behind them and see if you’d like to stick to tradition or break the rules to craft your own program.

1. Parents’ welcome speech

This is the perfect opportunity for your parents to thank everyone for attending your debut as well as formally introduce you to society. Your parents can look back at their favorite moments when you were still a child to the time you’ve transitioned and finally grew up to become a young lady.

2. Debutante’s entrance

You can come out in a grand way, complete with confetti raining down on you as you sashay down an elegant staircase. Or you can keep it simple by just walking into the event venue, smiling and waving hello to everyone you see.

3. Formal cotillion dance

Part of a more traditional debut, this can consist of a small number of people dancing an elaborate, choreographed waltz. Over the years, it has grown to include nine couples made up of the debutante’s male and female friends.

4. AVP presentation

This is not a necessity but something that can keep your guests entertained as they eat dinner. You can opt to present photos of yourself over the years (and show everyone how cute you were as a kid!), a pre-debut pictorial you shot, or even a one-of-a-kind concept video you made with your barkada ! Close relatives or friends living abroad can also opt to surprise you with a special video dedication.

5. Party games

Make your guests take part in the festivities by crafting games that are fun and interesting! Let guests do a debut scavenger hunt within the premises, select a winning Instagram shot from the night (don’t forget to create a hashtag for quick viewing of photos!), or prepare a trivia game featuring facts about you!

6. 18 Roses

The debutante dances with 18 special men in her life, starting with her father, continuing with her brothers and friends, and ending with her escort or her special someone. Each male will hand her a rose which is a symbol of love or courtship.

7. 18 Candles

Eighteen women are carefully selected to “light the way” of the debutante through useful advice and special wishes. After all the candles are lit, they can be blown out all together by the debutante.

8. 18 Treasures

Chosen friends and family members are asked to give 18 symbolic gifts which will help the debutante in the future. These can also be items that the debutante can use to reflect on her past and use as tokens to inspire her.

9. Birthday cake blowing of candles

No party is complete without singing “Happy Birthday.” Don’t forget to make a secret wish as you blow the candles.

10. Debutante’s speech

This is your chance to thank your parents, your siblings, your friends, and everyone else who helped you over the years. Write down your speech in advance so you don’t forget anyone!

Step 1: Once you’ve found a template that works well for your video, select the aspect ratio and click on ‘select this template’. This will open up the template in InVideo’s online editor.

Step 5: Once you are done with the basics, you can further customize the video by adding your own logos, media files, text or even changing the entire colour theme of the template. 

Step 6: Do a final preview to see if you have everything in place.

1. Start with a bold statement

A bold statement can capture your audience’s attention right from the get-go. Your statement should offer something slightly unusual and maybe even a little controversial. Something to make people sit up and take notice.

2. Tell a story

One of the best ways to get your audience’s attention is to tell a story – it’ll hit them right in the feels.

A personal, human story works because it the audience can relate to it on a personal level. Think about some stand-out examples of human stories that relate to your business or idea, and tell that story so people will connect with the central character. The bigger the emotion the better: love, longing, overcoming obstacles, things we’ve all had to deal with at some point in our lives.

Think about the  ‘story arc’  – how will you frame your message so the audience immediately empathizes?

If you’re selling trainers, perhaps you’ll talk about someone who’s training for a marathon. If you’re lobbying for women’s rights, perhaps you’ll tell a story of when a passing comment affected you deeply. Maybe you should think back to the decision that started your business, and start your presentation with that.

3. Use music

Music has great power to support and enhance the emotion in a video presentation, and has been proven to sustain an audience’s attention and aid in information retention. Music is used in movies to suggest an emotional state to the viewer, so why not in a video presentation?

Modern, up-tempo music will snap people to attention at the right moment, while slow, minor-key sounds relax the brain, which is useful for reviewing content so it can slip more easily into long-term memory.

Talking to a group of people about taking action on something that scares them? A picture of someone diving or bungee jumping could work. Telling your boss how important that company retreat is next year? Show them an image of happy, relaxed people with their toes in the sand.

It doesn’t have to be obvious and clichéd, either. Closed doors, wide open roads, and lighting a candle all have subconscious messages that you don’t really need to explain. (Whatever you do, just don’t use the ultimate cliche: the overused  ‘water ripple’ .)

Questions can be a great way to open a presentation, because they encourage the audience to think for themselves. It opens them up to a realm of critical thinking, which is perfect when you’re gonna sock it to them with your impactful message.

The art of asking questions in a presentation means you can incorporate them into your video as a great lead-in. Combined with some appropriate music, it can really get your audience thinking about the issue, and then you’ll go on to explain exactly what your solution is.

Having a laugh can really do a lot to win over an audience. There’s no need to be too serious, and even if you’re dealing with a heavy topic, lightening the mood can work wonders.

7. Repetition

Simple. Effective. Powerful.

Repetition can be used in several ways: by offering several one-word sentences in a row (the repetition is in the rhythm), or by repeating a word or a key phrase several time throughout your presentation.

In his famous Stanford speech in 2005, for example, Steve Jobs concluded by saying  “Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”

Repetition is powerful. It drives home your key message and strengthens your position.

8. Motion Graphics

Motion graphics  are basically animation with text as a major component, and is a staple of what we do at Biteable.

Creating an Audio-Video Presentation (AVP) Voice-over

Audio-Video Presentations (AVP) are handy tools for giving information during meetings, exhibits, trade expos, and lectures. They integrate images and sounds to be able to impart your lesson, message, product specs, services, and brand identity to your target audience. However, the success of an AV Presentation relies on a good voice-over narration: whether you are using a timed slideshow or a pre-edited video, your voice-over needs to be not only appropriate to the images, text, and videos being flashed or projected onscreen; it also needs to be read effectively to engage your audience and maximize the AVP’s impact. This is where your skill in voice acting and reading will be put to task. In order to make sure that your narration will hit the mark, your friends at ProVoice USA want to give you a few tips for creating a strong, effective, and engaging voice-over.

It goes without saying that for creating your voice-over; you will need the proper audio equipment: a (preferably unidirectional) microphone, an audio interface (for converting your audio into digital data), proper audio recording and editing software, a laptop or desktop PC, a microphone stand, and a pop filter. Are you ready? Let’s start:

Use a conversational tone and easy-to-read words – If you’re the person coming up with the script, make sure that your script has maximum readability. Use jargon and technical terms only when necessary, and make sure to explain these terms in your script if your audience is likely to be unfamiliar with them. Avoid being verbose and use plain language. When drafting and reading the script, try to evoke a conversational tone with your writing and delivery.

Go over the script and do “practice readings” – Try reading the script aloud in one pass, and see if any of the words trip you over. These may indicate rewrites to improve readability. Then, go over any jargon that needs to be properly pronounced and check for accuracy. Do another reading, this time; recording your performance. Avoid “ad-libs”, just stick to your script. Upon playback; check to see if your narration works within the context of the presentation. Once you are satisfied, it’s time to start recording.

Practice working with the microphone – Learn to keep your distance from the microphone. Ideally, a distance of between 6-12 inches away from the microphone will give you crisp, clean vocals. Also, make sure to mark your takes by leaving a few seconds of silence in between each take and announcing the section to be recorded, like “paragraph 4, page 2 take one”. Record your vocals in a quiet venue; without any distractions or ambient sounds. Be prepared to do multiple takes a section of the script at a time, and stop when you’re content with your performance.

Fine-tune your recording process – When recording, be conscious of your delivery: some voice-over talents have a tendency to read too fast or add unnecessary affectations in their delivery. Decide whether to read from the computer screen or from a printed manuscript: if you’re using a print-out, make sure that the fonts are easy-to-read and big enough to read; and that your text has a proper line and paragraph spacing. It will be much easier to record standing, as it gives you more leeway for gestures and expressions that will inform your delivery; but you can also choose to sit down. Your microphone’s stand and position will be determined by whether you stand or sit during takes. Use a pop filter to eliminate plosives and pops, and use a pair of good headphones for listening to your playback.

Hydrate and keep liquids on-hand – During recording, make sure that you hydrate your vocal cords with clear liquids: water and tea are the top choices. Avoid drinking cold liquids: just leave them at room temperature.

Make the video and images adjust to your voice-over and not the other way around – Lastly, when you find that your voice-over is not syncing up with the images and video, or you tend to get distracted trying to time the voice-over to sync with your slideshow effects and transitions; then tweak them so that they sync up with the voice over instead. Concentrate on having a good voice-over and sync your visuals to it.
