Leeds City Council is one of the largest employers in the region with over 14,000 employees. We seek to recruit and develop talented individuals who embody our  council values and  ambitions .

As a Virtual School Education Consultant, you will bring to the role:

  • Qualified teacher status with an excellent understanding of the needs of children and young people who have experienced care and be able to build personal and professional credibility with schools, social workers, SEND support services, foster and kinship carers, adopters, special guardians and children and young people.
  • Knowledge of current local and national issues impacting upon the service and be able to demonstrate a clear linkage with the needs of our children and children and young people across the city

The role is integral to our Virtual School team who are passionate about learning and education as lifelong protective factors and who are committed to reducing the inequalities in outcomes so many of our children experience. You will be immersed in an understanding of what a trauma informed learning offer will look like and be able to work with schools and services to create this for our children and young people. Your core values will be based around understanding that behaviour is communication of need and that we need to support schools, setting and services to think about what this means in their own practice and provision. No two days will be the same and you will be working to make a difference at a whole-school/system level to promote inclusive practice in settings, providing line management and supervision to our Personal Education Planning Co-ordinators and delivering support and challenge to schools and settings for individual children to ensure they have a learning offer that understands and meets their needs, enabling them to access, attend, engage and enjoy learning whilst making progress and attaining at every age and stage. You will be motivated and led by our Corporate Parenting responsibilities in everything you do to respond to the question “would this be good enough for my child?”

We take pride in offering the best employee experience, with benefits including:

  • a competitive salary and annual leave entitlement plus statutory holidays
