1-Minute Speech on Environmental Awareness

‘Good morning to everyone present her. Today, I stand before you to present my speech on environmental awareness. Environment refers to the world around us. If we have to keep ourselves safe, we must keep our environment safe. Therefore, environmental awareness is an important topic and we must take our decision in the right direction.

Overpopulation, degradation of the natural environment, pollution of rivers and water bodies, deforestation, etc. are major factors affecting our natural environment. Nature is paying the price of careless human activities.

From individuals to large organizations,  everyone must work hand in hand to enact and enforce policies that prioritize environmental sustainability. Using public transport can help reduce air pollution. Using the blue dustbin for dry waste and the green dustbin for wet waste can help in waste management. Avoiding single-use plastics, switching off appliances when not in use, using renewable energy like solar and wind energy, and planting more trees can greatly improve environmental health.’

‘So let’s take care of our mother nature and work on a greener, healthier, and sustainable environment because our environment’s health is our health.’

2-Minute Speech on Environmental Awareness

‘Good morning my teacher and my friends. Today, I stand before you to present my speech on environmental awareness. We only have one home; our environment. Yet, we are damaging it at an alarming rate. According to a report released by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), 881 animal species have gone extinct since 1900.’

‘Environment awareness is important because it helps us understand the current state of the environment, including the causes and consequences of environmental problems, is fundamental to environmental awareness.’

‘The environment is losing its natural strength. The average surface temperature is rising, trees are cut down, animal habitats are lost, and smoke is released into the air and water bodies. Our environment has gifted us with everything we needed; food, clothes, shelter, etc. Yet, today, we are the biggest threat to the natural environment. It is all because of our careless attitude towards Mother Nature.’

‘Taking care of our natural environment is our primary responsibility. Small steps like banning single-use plastics, switching off-lights appliances when not in use, closing water taps, etc. Also, adopting sustainable practices in daily life, such as reducing waste, conserving energy, using eco-friendly products, and supporting environmentally friendly initiatives can significantly improve environmental health.’

In 2019, the government of India banned single-use plastics like polyethylene bags and plastic bottles. Experts suggest that instead of using plastic bags, we can look for alternatives and eco-friendly options like paper bags or jute bags.

‘In the end, I would like to conclude by saying that adapting to environmentally friendly activities should be our top-most priority. By polluting the air that we breathe, water that we drink, and food that we eat, we are not only damaging the environment but our health too.’

Can We Write Your Speech?

Get your audience blown away with help from a professional speechwriter. Free proofreading and copy-editing included.

Examine the opportunities I offer, and assemble you own speaking text based on the sample series of reasons below.

That logic reasoning process in the end will result in a nice and substantial blueprint, and a sample argumentation scheme for a debate on good persuasive environmental speech topics.

Excessive Use of Natural Resources Leads to Depletion In The End.

I. Industrial development destroys the environment by left over and residue materials such as: a. High concentrations of metals;

b. Toxic substances and chemically changed minerals;

c. Debris and litter;

d. Radioactive infected ground at industrial sites.

II. Large-scale soil erosion because surface soil washes away due to influencing water tides and winds streams. a. Intensive plowing and draining of farm land.

b. Planting of genetically singular crops in combination with applying too much fertilizers and pesticides.

III. Abnormal huge irrigation systems in farming: a. Salination of the ground, ground water, and creeks and wells.

b. Excessive withdrawal of ground water reserves.

IV. Surface and underground mining for gas, oil and minerals devastate land and oceans and mutilates our world. a. It causes every growing desolate and desert spots.
V. Deforestation – the rainforests in Latin America are the obvious victims – you not need grown-up persuasive communication skills to bring this to reason. a. Including their biodiverisity of forest animals;

b. Exotic plants;

c. And micro-organisms.

Radioactive materials are – without exception I would state – firm persuasive environmental speech topics and essay discourse themes for students. E.g.:

Radio Active Waste Management.

I. There are three critical stages in the radio active waste management flow: a. Spent nuclear fuel that is stored temporarily at power plants, also known as interim storage.

b. The control of the risky transportation of radioactive materials.

c. The final storage and disposal, to protect future generations from potential threats.

В
II. There are three levels of contamination: a. The low level waste: 1. Nuclear reactor complexes, and also hospitals and research departments of industrial corporations produce low level waste.

2. It is considered as hazardous during at least thirty years and have to be isolated for three to five-hundred years from now.

В b. The intermediate level waste: 1. Heavier toxic materials from nuclear power plants constrained with the obligation to secure it in concrete.

2. Solid and semi-solid organic substances, chemical sediment from metal bonding processes.

В c. The high-level nuclear waste: 1. Exceeding the other acceptable amounts, highly dangerous to humans and other organic species for thousands of years in the future.

2. Residual nuclear waste in nuclear electricity generation complexes in the uranium fuel cycle.

3. Plutonium and uranium fuel in a nuclear reactor.

Intensive farming has many pros and cons. In the next example I deal with the cons. Note that each of them could be used as single persuasive environmental speech topics for a debate or essay:

The Disadvantages of Intensive Farming.

I. Disavantage One: often factory-like farms use an overkill of chemical fertilizers, insecticides, and pesticides. a. Pesticides kill helpful insects. E.g. bees, ladybugs, and mantis.

b. Chemical residues in meat, in fruit and in vegetables end up in our human food chain.

c. The soil and water streams are contaminated.

II. Disavantage Two: The problem of overcrowded livestock feedyards and poultry holding facilities full of pigs, cows, and chickens. a. Their waste causes environmental pollution.

b. Great risk of livestock diseases and infections for humans.

III. Disavantage III: Forests fires to make way for farmland. a. Cause erosion of the soil.

b. Reduce the wild animal population.

IV. Disavantage Four: Hormonal preparations to stimulate growth. a. This must make genetic selection easier and have to facilitate the extensive breeding of animals.

You also could take the opposite side and defend the pro-intensive farming arguments by attacking and replacing them for reasons in favor of the supporters of intensive farming. That will provoke immediate discussion among your listeners. Furthermore I would like to share alternative options for persuasive environmental speech topics:

  • Endangered species;
  • Marine debris and microplastics;
  • The sea level rise.

Endangered species – The international list of protected animals. E.g. the Red List of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature IUCN. Sharpen your persuasive communication skills and judge the conditions for protection.

Marine debris and microplastics – More and more are our ocean, seas, lakes and rivers polluted. Littering: plastic bottles, bags, and so on. Persuade your audience to act. Let them support coastal volunteer operations to remove and prevent debris.

The sea level rise – What is bad about it? What are the predictions of meteorologists regarding the reported weather and climate changes? What should we do to stop it? Is it possible to stop the rise of the sea level anyway?

  • The fundamentals of logistics for oil and gas exploration.
  • Wildlife protection programs.
  • Plants, animals and organisms that live in the ocean.
  • The greatest rainforests in the world.
  • Facts and figures of littering in our community
  • Domestic water waste treatment plans.

  • The importance of sustainable development for future generations.
  • What is at stake with greenhouse carbon gas emissions?
  • Water is the upcoming hot issue in the Middle East.
  • Availability and purity of water.
  • The Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai – the smart innovative energy reuser.
  • South-American tropical forests.
  • Global climate change is not only caused by humans.
  • We need a healthy environment.

Save Environment Speech For Students

Speech on Save Environment is an important topic for students. Students can avail a well-written speech on the topic ‘save environment speech’ and learn how to write the speech that will impress the audience.

Long Speech

Good morning to one and all present here. I am glad to be given the opportunity to present a speech on Save Environment. Our environment is where we live. There must be harmony between the environment and living beings. In the present scenario, due to overpopulation, the environment is under distress. The situation is alarming as our natural environment is overexploited to meet human needs. It is because of many human activities that we are not able to maintain a healthy balance with nature.

The threat we are facing includes manmade disasters and global warming. These threats are real and have raised an alarming situation. We need to come together to save our environment. This speech on saving nature throws light on why it is needed by mankind to protect and preserve the environment. Our environment offers everything from clothing, water, food to shelter. All living beings are a part of the ecosystem. Hence, it becomes our responsibility to take care of the natural habitat.

Environmental pollution is one of the biggest issues that the modern world faces today. To meet the wants of society, we are putting too much pressure on the natural environment. This leads to damage to nature. The soil is losing its fertility, and in most places, soil pollution makes it difficult to grow crops. Even air and water pollution is the effect of mass urbanization and industrialisation. Controlling the pollution is a need of the hour, however, this still gets neglected by us. I am delivering the speech to save the earth to make you aware of what can be done by each one of us sitting here. We can make our earth a better place to live by taking simple steps like planting a tree, throwing waste in proper bins, saying no to plastic bags, etc. Rather than complaining about pollution, such small steps must be taken to make our environment sustainable.

Environmental problems are also the result of vast technological advancements in the last few years. The overuse of resources to build IT infrastructure is responsible for the loss of the natural environment. Government and international organizations must take proper steps to control pollution and save our mother earth. Environmental protection policies must be strictly enforced. Everyone has to come together to save our mother nature.

Saving our environment is much more important today than ever before. The degrading quality of earth life is what we all are familiar with. However, the early signs of the upcoming destruction are visible. The harsh weather conditions, increased carbon dioxide emissions, melting of glaciers, etc. are the major concerns that needed immediate attention. Let us all do what we can to save our environment and preserve our resources for future generations.

Short Speech

Good morning to all. Today, I am going to give a short speech on saving the environment. We are all aware of how the environment is important to us. We cannot afford to harm the environment any longer. In today’s modern world, our planet earth is affected significantly. However, if we want to live in harmony with nature, we cannot put the entire pressure on the environment. Living beings, for their survival, depend completely on the natural and manmade environment. It is impossible to live without the resources that the atmosphere provides. In such a situation, it becomes critical to save mother nature from getting over-exploited due to the increasing population.

We all know that factors like overpopulation, deforestation, etc. are responsible for environmental destruction. Small steps taken by us can go a long way. We must try to use as much public transport as possible to protect the air we breathe. We must throw garbage in the right bins so that proper disposal of waste and waste management can be done. We need to make efforts in the right direction to conserve our natural resources and habitat. Some of the ways by which we can achieve this are to use renewable energy, avoid plastic bags, plant more trees etc.

Mother nature offers so much to us. We must protect the environment and nature and be a part of sustainable development programmes.

10 Lines Speech

A heartfelt welcome to each one present here. I am here to deliver a speech on saving the environment and saving a life. It is no hidden fact that our environment is affected largely due to human activities. It is facing a threat at an alarming rate. We have over-exploited nature due to our greed. This has caused a natural imbalance. However, we can still do something and protect our environment from all the damages. We must plant more and more trees, throw garbage in the dustbins, avoid using plastic bags, etc. It cannot be denied that our natural environment is such an important part of our ecosystem. It is important to educate people about how the environment is getting damaged. Then only we can have green earth to live in.

Main Causes of Environmental Degradation

Pollution, in any form, is destructive to the environment, whether it be in the form of air, water, land, or noise.

Rapid population increase limits natural resources, resulting in environmental degradation.

Increasing population equals more need for food, clothing, and housing. More land is needed to grow food and provide housing for people. Deforestation occurs, as a result, contributing to environmental degradation.

Deforestation is also caused by using forest areas for agriculture, livestock grazing, fuelwood harvesting, and logging. When forest size decreases, deforestation contributes to global warming by releasing carbon into the atmosphere.

The exhaust gas released by industries is one of the primary sources of pollution. Lead is found in large concentrations in the environment due to a range of substances such as gasoline, paints, ceramics, and batteries.

In recent years, there has been a massive increase in the number of private vehicles. The higher the number of cars, the higher the rate of pollution that causes smog. Lower-level ozone, which is detrimental, is caused by hydrocarbons emitted by engines.

Speech on plant trees, saving mother earth is important for students as it will make them aware of how to use natural resources and how a healthy balance can be maintained between the environment and human life.

Speech on World Environment Day

World Environment Day is celebrated across the world on 5 th June in order to create awareness amongst people about the importance of preserving nature and environment. It is celebrated in most of the schools, offices, factories, manufacturing units, etc as the government is also putting lot of emphasis on the preservation of environment. You may come across occasions when you may have to deliver speech on World Environment Day. We present here various samples on World Environment Day Speech for preparing you for various occasions that come your way. We prefer to keep the language user-friendly and use simple English, which you can use as a reference point. Our Short speech on World Environment Day can be used at school or college level celebrations and the long speech on World Environment Day can be used as a sample speech for various organizational celebrations. We are certain that these samples would act as an inspiration for you for creating your own speech on World Environment Day.

Long and Short World Environment Day Speech

World environment day speech – 1 (500 words, 5 minutes speech).

Good Morning Friends!

World Environment day is celebrated annually on 5 th June across the world. We have assembled here to make plans for this year celebration. Our company always advocate green environment and preservation of nature. You must be aware that the technology used in our manufacturing unit also supports green environment. We are highly the promoters of green India; our production units are well equipped with latest machines and equipment that consume less water and energy, thus causing less wastage of water and energy. The unit releases no or less pollutant or poisonous gases, which also preserves nature, water and the environment ultimately.

In order to strengthen our country and the world, it is important that the nature is preserved. The mushroom growth factories and manufacturing units has also led to the explosion of pollution, rays, gas, dust, etc which is deteriorating the quality of air we are breathing in, water we are consuming everyday and the environment we are surviving in.

The state government has given us this responsibility to create awareness amongst the factory owners, business tycoons and manufacturing units to share the benefits of green technology. In the same regards, we’ll be organising a meeting soon in which we will inform them about the technologies we use to preserve the nature.

We are also appealing to common people across India to plant trees, clean up the surroundings and take actions against those that harm animals. We also request people to save water and energy at their respective places as much as possible.

At this forum, I would also highlight some of the diseases related to unhygienic living conditions and dirty water. Water is the main source of energy, but if it remains stagnant or unclean then it becomes the source of several dangerous diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, etc. It, therefore, becomes important that every individual owns his/her social responsibility and take all the preventive measures to cover the uncovered water like tanks, pots or coolers.

Now let’s discuss about the disposal of garbage; it is been wildly observed that many people throw used-litter in the open area. Our government has taken steps and fixed the ‘Green coloured’ and ‘Blue coloured’ dustbins at almost every public place. It is sincerely appealed to the people to kindly use those dustbins and use the colour symbol correctly for the wet and dry garbage.

Life can be very simple and fulfilling if we follow certain principles and trust me; these simple formulas cost no money and involve no hassles yet prove to be very effective.

World Environment Day is celebrated to raise awareness about nature and the significance of protecting environment for present and future. For sustaining life on this planet Earth, it is critical that the world’s forests, oceans and soils are preserved and these act as great stores for greenhouse gases like methane and carbon dioxide; fisher-folk and farmers bind nature in order to provide us with food. Scientists and researchers develop medicines using these natural products since ages.

Nature’s gifts are rare and cannot be purchased from money. It is important that each one of us wake up before it’s too late. Don’t smoke in the public places or dump garbage in the open area. These small beginnings will certainly lead to a better place for survival.

World Environment Day Speech – 2 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Dear friends, hope you all are enjoying your day so far. Thank you for being a part of this celebration. We all have gathered here to celebrate the World Environment Day which commemorate every year on 5 th June. I have been given this opportunity to host the programme this year and I promise to utilize this platform to the fullest.

What is environment? Many of you must be feeling surprised and some of you must be finding me stupid as I ask this question. Environment is our immediate surrounding and in recent times we have been hearing a lot of debates, discussion, events, occasions, etc around saving the environment. I often wonder if it is really such a grave issues that invites a lot of debates and discussions! Well, the answer is ‘Yes’. We have made it critical. Man is surprisingly the creation of God who creates and destroys its own surroundings. We are smart and intelligent enough to know what pollutes the environment and what are the ways to protect it; but still we choose to remain silent and inactive.

The celebration of World Environment Day provides people with an opportunity to come forward and know the reasons behind the deterioration of our environment and discuss various means and methods to save and preserve it. Started in 1974, this day has grown and become a global platform for public outreach that is broadly celebrated across the world.

Our school celebrates this day with equal enthusiasm and zeal as we strongly believe that good manners must be taught to people since their childhood itself. I have seen that children are highly excited and start the preparation in advance. Every year, we celebrate this day with different themes. This year, our theme is ‘Plant trees and make the surrounding green’. Every student has to write an essay on this theme, decorate their respective classes in Green all with natural materials; you can use leaves, grasses, etc. The winning students in the essay competition and the winning class will receive exciting prizes. Besides this, each student will be provided with a plant for planting at home, park, garden or at any place which seems appropriate. Students are requested to get a photograph clicked while planting and interestingly top five pictures would get published in our annual school magazine.

It is also essential that we educate our children not to pollute their homes, roads, schools or living surrounding with litter such as empty can, chips, chocolate wrappers, etc. No wonder, we instil these habits at the school level, but parents should also take their due responsibilities and educate kids about the significance of the Green and Blue dustbins. Children shouldn’t be allowed to de-root small plants in the park, gardens or road sides. Grown up people should be mindful not to smoke at the public places and save the air from getting polluted. Water at every place should be kept covered, no energy and water should be wasted and garbage and litter shouldn’t be burnt in the open environment.

As much important it is to preserve nature, it is equally simple. All we have to do is just be little aware, cautious and responsible.

Speech on World Environment Day – 3 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Good morning respected principal, teachers and my dear friends,

For addressing the assembly today, I have been assigned the topic ‘World Environment Day’.

My dear friends, what does environment mean to you all? It is the natural world, our surroundings. This World environment day is the day especially devoted to address our overall environment and the issues that presently exist in our environment. Our immunity and well being directly depends on the situation of the environment. Bad the environment bad is our living and vice versa.

Due to various human activities the quality of environment in which we live is deteriorating. And the rate of this decline is too quick or too high if I may say. Human should necessarily work on their activities like industrialization, deforestation, technological development, global warming, pollution, waste management, etc. If they wish to live in a safe and healthy environment. On this day we should recognize the need of how important environment is to us and at present what all issues have taken place in this environment. It is us who can work on making things better and this is not only for us but for good of others as well.

This day aims to engage and draw attention of all the citizens of the world including political and health organizations to be more specific across the globe from different countries. And, to make them curious about making new plans and implementing them for the betterment of the environment. A healthy and safe environment is the way towards the happy and more progressive future. Government should lay down more projects just like swachh bharat to make people more attached to the environment’s maintenance.

We tend to put everything on to the legal and political entities solely for the initiation of such plans and acts that bind us for being active towards the environment. We people have all the right and authority to do our bit for having a safe and healthy environment. By growing more trees, discarding waste properly, evading the pollution, use of solar energy, etc are very few things which one made necessary will help us in having live in a great environment.

We all should create awareness on large scale amongst the population on maintaining the sustainable environment by ensuring correct and minimal use of the natural resources and doing our bit by doing the earlier mentioned few tasks. Stabilized environment today will help in the better maintenance of the coming future generations as well. We all have to be cautious about everything that we do, as each of the minute thing done adds on to the pool of adverse things impacting the environment. People should necessarily link themselves to the different acts of the government that focus on environment maintenance and should make more people gathered at the special seminars and sessions organized on this day.

Safe environment is a healthy well being of humans, plants and animals. We must attain the final result of safe environment. Thank You everyone!

Speech on World Environment Day – 4 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Good morning my dear friends, we all are gathered here today to acknowledge the importance of the ‘World Environment Day’. I am obliged to address this topic amongst you all today.

It is very very important for us to live in an environment that is safe. The need today is to improve the level and intensity of the global awareness about our environment amongst all. Out of the entire population most of the people are unaware about how important it is to have a sustainable environment. Each year celebration of the world environment day is prepared in accordance with the specific themes and by having specific slogans for that theme to bring success in the campaign around the globe.

We all should focus on doing the deeds that get positives in the environment and tend to stabilize the traits of environment. Sheer focus should be on minimizing the activities that release toxins and population in the air and make the environment unhealthy for the living of man, plants and animals. We ourselves need to stand strong for living in quality surroundings that help us in living a life that is less of diseases and free from the unhealthy zeal of diminished resources.

Every year this day is celebrated to make people aware about the results that occur in environment due to their day to day activities and the issues being faced by each one of us due to these. The other agenda about having this dedicated day is to make people cautious of how important it is to have a safe and healthy environment.

We all should know the importance of the environment. We should work on growing more of the trees so that overcoming other negativities existing currently in the environment become easier and quicker. This day should be attended with utmost importance and every individual should be a part of the seminars, sessions, rallies, etc organized on this day. Though environment is such a crucial topic that addressing it only once a year is not enough but yes, it is good at least for initiating and evaluating our deeds done for the environment throughout the year.

We humans should realize our mistakes and address the existing concerns about the environment in order to keep it of utmost quality. It should be clean, safe and secure for the healthy life of all humans, plants and animals. By adopting few activities we can easily diminish the bad impacts currently happening in the environment. We should make people more aware about how important it is to breathe in a safe quality environment. Thank you! I am sure we all together can surely eliminate the negativities that are present in the environment. Optimized usage of natural resources should be our first target on catering and doing our bit for the environment’s sustainability. We all should support people to create their surroundings secure and clean to enjoy disease free and immune lifestyle along with risk-free, better and successful future.

Thank you all for being a part of this session. Together we all can do the good for our environment. Thank you!

Speech on Environmental Issues

Environmental issues are problems that affect the world around you. They are caused by human activities and harm our planet’s health.

You see these issues every day. Things like pollution, deforestation, and climate change are all environmental issues.

1-minute Speech on Environmental Issues

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Our world is beautiful. It’s filled with amazing forests, rivers, animals, and birds. But, it’s in danger. This danger is caused by environmental issues.

Firstly, let’s talk about pollution. Pollution is like a monster. It makes the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land we live on dirty. When we throw rubbish everywhere, burn too much fuel, or use harmful chemicals, we feed this monster. It’s not good for us, and it’s not good for the animals and plants either.

Secondly, we have the problem of cutting down trees. Trees are our friends. They give us clean air, shade, and homes for many animals. But when we cut them down without planting new ones, we lose these benefits. It’s like losing a good friend.

So, what can we do? We can stop feeding the pollution monster by recycling and using less harmful products. We can plant more trees and take care of the ones we have. And, we can save water by using it wisely.

Remember, every small action counts. The world is our home, and it’s our job to keep it safe and clean. Let’s work together to solve these environmental issues. Thank you.

2-minute Speech on Environmental Issues

First, let’s talk about pollution. You’ve seen it in the streets, in the rivers, and even in the air. When we throw away plastic, it doesn’t just disappear. It stays around for hundreds of years, hurting animals and plants. The smoke from factories and cars fills our air with harmful stuff. This makes it hard for us, and all living things, to breathe.

Next, let’s talk about trees. Trees are like the lungs of our planet. They breathe in the bad air and breathe out good air. But we are cutting down too many trees. This means there are fewer trees to clean our air. It also means that animals who live in the forests lose their homes.

Then there’s the problem of wasting resources. We use up water, oil, and other things faster than the earth can replace them. It’s like eating all the food in our house and not going to the grocery store to buy more. If we keep doing this, one day we’ll run out.

We’re also changing our weather in a bad way. It’s called climate change. This means our winters can get super cold and our summers super hot. It can make storms stronger. This hurts people, animals, and plants all over the world.

So, what can we do? We can start by picking up trash and recycling. This means using things again instead of throwing them away. We can also save water by turning off the tap when we brush our teeth. And we can save electricity by turning off lights when we leave a room.

Lastly, we can learn more about our environment. The more we know, the better we can protect it. We can tell others about what we learn. The more people who know, the more people who can help.

Our world is a beautiful place. It’s the only home we have. Let’s work together to keep it clean and safe. Remember, every little bit helps. So let’s start today. Thank you.

Long Speech on Environment 600 Words in English

Environment Essay is usually given to classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Greetings to one and all.

The environment plays a crucial role in the growth and development of all the living things on Earth, especially to humanity’s everyday life. Environmental conditions play a vital role in determining the quality of life that humans lead.

The environment is an important segment that enables the growth of all life and biotic components on Earth. It is man’s responsibility to protect the environment for all the species for the near future. However, the contemporary world has gained an increasing demand for industries and technologies that have led to environmental abuse.

Before the inception of industrialization, the environment was in a pretty good state- with clean water resources, pure air, fertile soil, and happy natural environment for al living things.

Human society is the sole reason behind the degeneration of the natural habitat which has now altered and led to the adverse effects on this planet. Human actions in the contemporary world have impacted and caused an imbalance to the ecosystem. Many of our activities have created drastic changes, resulting in many environmental problems.

The rapid urbanization and industrialization have led to massive exploitation of our natural resources. The contemporary world’s hot topic of discussion is the abuse of the environment. Several human activities and the high rate of population growth have created an adverse impact on the environment.

We have carelessly degenerated and exploited the natural resources without any care for the environment. We have cleared forests relentlessly to pave the way for new buildings and cities. Our need for electricity has led to a massive amount of burning coals resulting not only pollution but also global warming. Now the earth’s atmosphere has trapped heat, creating a dangerous situation.

Various other factors threaten the environment, they are :

  • The depletion of natural resources like fuels, food, and water
  • The over-consumption of natural resources have led to improper waste disposal, and they have resulted in the massive depository of hazardous and solid waste
  • Mohith Agadi rightly said ‘The environment is no one’s property to destroy; it’s everyone’s responsibility to protect.’ So let us all pledge to “Save our Mother Earth” in every possible way.
  • There are multiple methods we can adopt which effectively contribute towards the cause.
  • We can plant more and more saplings in our surroundings as well as in any empty spaces.
  • We can set an example by planting a few trees in our backyard or any small area outside or near our house. You can even keep small tubs of plants in your balcony, doorway or windows to make your living space look aesthetic as well contribute to our Earth.
  • Another effective way is to habituate ourselves to use public transport over personal vehicles.
  • Walking and Bicycling to short distance places contributes to a better environment and good health. Its time we stopped wasting energy at home, or workspace- switch off your devices when not in use.
  • The use of fluorescent light bulbs over regular LED bulbs is another small initiative towards a better environment. These bulbs are on the expensive side, but they cut down the electricity bills and emit 70 per cent less heat in comparison to standard/ LED bulbs.
  • To create a worldwide awareness to protect our environment, the United Nations has decided on June 5 as World Environment Day.
  • To protect the environment and prevent any hazards to human beings, other living creatures, plants and property, the Indian government has imposed the Environment Protection Act, 1986.

Let us all join hands to spread environmental awareness in our everyday life as well as our society. Let us work together towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Short Speech on Environment 200 Words in English

The environment is the natural world that comprises of air, water, land, animals, plants, etc. as our surrounding. This Environment is a legacy given to us by the universe in a perfect condition with abundant natural resources.

However, man has directly impacted the whole ecosystem, leading to many environmental issues and problems. The increasing demand for industries, natural resources, and technologies in today’s world has impacted Mother Earth. This, in turn, has led to other series of problems and has altered the whole environment in an unimagined way.

The indiscriminate use of the environment is the root of the ecological crisis. Some of the significant problems are – deterioration of natural resources, depletion of underground water, erosion of soil and coral reefs, regular shortage of fresh drinking water, diminishing forests and wetlands, and salinization.

Some other issues such as rapid extinction of animal species, rising air and water pollution, the collapse of fisheries, loss of biodiversity, reduction of rivers, seas and underground resources, increase in atmospheric temperature, and thinning of the ozone layer have become a severe threat to the environment.

We need to adopt the principles of sustainable development in our lives. Each of us must protect the environment from environmental issues which can lead to disastrous health issues. By taking small initiatives like the usage of jute, cloth, paper bags, recycling the waste products, saving drinking water, planting saplings, reducing the use of automobiles, etc., we can reduce the deteriorating impacts.

To save and create awareness among brethren, the UN has declared June 5 as the World Environmental Day. It is our responsibility to protect our Mother Earth and environment and make the possibility of a healthy and happy life.

6 Example Speeches on Climate Change

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, affecting every corner of the globe and every aspect of our lives.

As a speaker, addressing this topic can be challenging, but it’s also an opportunity to inspire action and create meaningful change.

Example Speeches on Climate Change

Example Speeches on Climate Change

In this article, we’ll explore six example speeches on climate change, each tailored to different audiences and occasions.

Whether you’re looking for a short, impactful speech or a longer, more in-depth exploration of the issue, you’ll find inspiration and guidance here.

So, let’s get started and see how we can use the power of words to tackle one of the greatest challenges of our generation.

Speech 1: A Call to Action (Short – 300 words)

Friends, we gather here today because our planet is in crisis. The science is clear: climate change is real, it’s happening now, and it’s caused by human activity. We’ve seen the devastating effects all around us – from rising sea levels and more frequent natural disasters to droughts, famines, and the loss of biodiversity. But we also know that it’s not too late to act. We have the power to change course, to build a more sustainable future for ourselves and for generations to come.

So, what can we do? First, we must recognize that every action counts. From the choices we make as individuals – like reducing our energy consumption and waste – to the policies we support as citizens, we all have a role to play. Second, we must hold our leaders accountable. We need bold, decisive action at every level of government to transition to clean energy, protect vulnerable communities, and build resilience against the impacts of climate change.

But most importantly, we must act together. Climate change is a global problem that requires global solutions. We must stand united, across borders and differences, in our commitment to this fight. Because when we work together, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.

So let us leave here today with a renewed sense of purpose. Let us go out into the world and be the change we wish to see. Let us build a future where our planet thrives, where our communities are resilient, and where every person has the chance to live with dignity and hope. The time for action is now – let’s get to work.

— END OF SPEECH —

Commentary: This short speech is a powerful call to action on climate change. It acknowledges the severity of the problem, highlights the importance of individual and collective action, and ends with an inspiring vision for the future. This speech would be suitable for a rally, a community event, or any occasion where you want to motivate people to get involved in the fight against climate change.

Speech 2: The Business Case for Climate Action (Medium-length – 500 words)

As business leaders, we have a unique opportunity – and a profound responsibility – to drive the transition to a low-carbon economy. For too long, we’ve treated climate change as a distant threat, something to be dealt with in the future. But the reality is that the impacts of climate change are already being felt, and they pose significant risks to our businesses, our communities, and our planet.

The good news is that tackling climate change isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s also good for business. By investing in clean energy, sustainable supply chains, and climate-resilient infrastructure, we can not only reduce our environmental impact but also create new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Consider the facts: renewable energy is now cheaper than fossil fuels in many parts of the world, and the cost continues to fall. Companies that embrace sustainability are seeing increased customer loyalty, employee satisfaction, and investor confidence. And as governments around the world implement policies to drive the transition to a low-carbon economy, businesses that are ahead of the curve will be well-positioned to thrive.

But we can’t do it alone. We need policymakers to create the right incentives and frameworks to support our efforts. We need consumers to demand sustainable products and services. And we need every business, large and small, to join us in this critical mission.

So, let us seize this moment. Let us lead by example, showing the world that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand. Let us work together to build a future where businesses prosper, communities thrive, and our planet is protected for generations to come. The path ahead won’t be easy, but with courage, collaboration, and a commitment to doing what’s right, we can rise to the challenge and create a better world for all.

Commentary: This speech makes a compelling business case for climate action. It acknowledges the risks that climate change poses to businesses, highlights the opportunities that come with the transition to a low-carbon economy and calls on business leaders to lead by example. This speech would be suitable for a business conference, a sustainability event, or any occasion where you want to encourage businesses to take action on climate change.

Speech 3: The Moral Imperative of Climate Action (Long – 700 words)

My fellow citizens, we stand at a crossroads in human history. The choices we make in the coming years will determine the fate of our planet and the future of generations to come. And there is no greater moral imperative of our time than to act on climate change.

For too long, we have treated our planet as if it were an endless resource, a dumping ground for our waste and pollution. We have prioritized short-term gains over long-term sustainability, and we have turned a blind eye to the consequences of our actions. But now, those consequences are catching up with us.

We see it in the rising seas that threaten our coastal cities, the wildfires that ravage our forests, and the droughts that decimate our crops. We see it in the mass extinction of species, the acidification of our oceans, the spread of disease, and conflict. Climate change is not just an environmental issue – it is a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented proportions.

And yet, even in the face of this overwhelming evidence, there are still those who deny the reality of climate change, who prioritize profit over people, who cling to the status quo rather than embracing the need for change. But we cannot afford to be complacent or complicit any longer.

As a global community, we have a moral obligation to act. We must protect the most vulnerable among us, to safeguard the planet for future generations, to ensure that every person has the right to a livable future. This is not a partisan issue – it is a human issue, and it demands a human response.

So, what can we do? We must start by recognizing that climate change is a systemic problem that requires systemic solutions. We need to transform the way we produce and consume energy, the way we grow and distribute food, and the way we move and build and live. We need to invest in clean technologies, sustainable infrastructure, in resilient communities. And we need to do it now, with the urgency and the scale that this crisis demands.

But we cannot do it alone. We need every nation, every sector, and every individual to be part of the solution. We need to build a global movement for change, one that transcends borders and ideologies, one that unites us in our common humanity and our shared destiny.

So let us rise to this challenge. Let us summon the courage and the compassion to act, not just for ourselves, but for all those who will come after us. Let us be the generation that saves our planet, that secures a livable future for all. The time for action is now – let us meet this moment with the urgency and the moral clarity it demands. Thank you.

Commentary: This speech frames climate action as a moral imperative, highlighting the devastating impacts of climate change and the urgent need for systemic solutions. It calls on individuals, nations, and sectors to unite in a global movement for change and emphasizes the importance of acting with compassion and urgency. This speech would be suitable for a keynote address, a commencement speech, or any occasion where you want to inspire people to take bold, principled action on climate change.

Speech 4: The Role of Youth in Combating Climate Change (Long – 800 words)

Young people of the world, you are the inheritors of a planet in peril. You are the ones who will bear the brunt of the climate crisis, and you are the ones who have the most to lose if we fail to act. But you are also the ones who have the most to gain if we succeed – and you are the ones who have the power to lead us to a better future.

For too long, the voices of youth have been marginalized in the climate debate. You have been told that you are too young to understand, too naive to make a difference, and too powerless to effect change. But I stand here today to tell you that nothing could be further from the truth.

You are not just the future – you are the present. You are the ones who are taking to the streets, organizing strikes and protests, demanding action from those in power. You are the ones who are innovating new solutions, creating new businesses, and driving new technologies. You are the ones who are shaping the culture, influencing the conversation, setting the agenda for change.

And you are not alone. Around the world, young people are rising and speaking out, united in their determination to create a better, more sustainable future. From the school strikers of Europe to the Indigenous activists of the Amazon, from the green entrepreneurs of Africa to the climate justice advocates of Asia, you are part of a global movement that is growing stronger every day.

But the road ahead will not be easy. You will face resistance from those who benefit from the status quo, from those who are invested in the fossil fuel economy, and from those who are afraid of change. You will face setbacks and challenges, moments of doubt and despair.

But you must not lose heart. You must remember that you have the truth on your side, the science on your side, and the moral imperative on your side. You must remember that you are not fighting for yourselves alone, but for all those who will come after you, for the generations yet unborn.

So let us stand together, young and old, rich and poor, from every corner of the globe. Let us build a movement that is inclusive, intersectional, and unstoppable. Let us demand action from our leaders, hold them accountable for their promises, and work to elect those who share our vision for a just and sustainable future.

And let us never forget that the power to change the world lies within each of us. Every action we take, every choice we make, every voice we raise – no matter how small – can make a difference. So let us go forth from this place with courage, with conviction, with hope. Let us be the change we wish to see in the world. Let us create a future that we can be proud of, a future that we can pass on to those who come after us. The time is now – let us seize it together.

Commentary: This speech is a powerful call to action for young people, emphasizing their crucial role in the fight against climate change. It acknowledges the challenges they face but also highlights their unique strengths and the importance of building an inclusive, intersectional movement. The speech ends with an inspiring message of hope and empowerment, urging young people to seize the moment and create a better future for all. This speech would be ideal for a youth climate conference, a university event, or any occasion where you want to mobilize and inspire young people to take action on climate change.

Speech 5: The Intersection of Climate Change and Social Justice (Lengthy – 1,000 words)

Friends, we have gathered here today to discuss one of the most pressing issues of our time – the intersection of climate change and social justice. For too long, these two issues have been treated as separate and distinct, as if the impacts of a warming planet could be neatly compartmentalized from the struggles for equality, dignity, and human rights. But the truth is that climate change is not just an environmental crisis – it is a human rights crisis, and it is a crisis that disproportionately affects the most vulnerable and marginalized among us.

Consider the facts: the communities that are most impacted by climate change – low-income communities, communities of color, and indigenous communities – are also the communities that have contributed the least to the problem. They are the ones who bear the brunt of the rising seas and the extreme weather events, the ones who suffer the most from the health impacts of air and water pollution, and the ones who are most likely to be displaced by drought, famine, and conflict.

And yet, these are also the communities that have been systematically excluded from the decision-making processes that shape our response to the climate crisis. Their voices have been silenced, their needs have been ignored, and their rights have been denied. This is not just an injustice – it is a fundamental failure of our democracy and our humanity.

But we cannot address climate change without addressing these underlying inequities. We cannot build a sustainable future on a foundation of inequality and exploitation. We cannot solve a global problem with solutions that leave entire populations behind.

So, what do we do? We start by recognizing that climate justice and social justice are inextricably linked. We cannot have one without the other. We need to approach the climate crisis with an intersectional lens, understanding how it intersects with issues of race, class, gender, and power.

We need to center the voices and experiences of those who are most impacted by climate change and ensure that they have a seat at the table when decisions are being made. We need to invest in community-led solutions, resilience, and adaptation strategies that are grounded in local knowledge and experience.

We need to hold corporations and governments accountable for their role in perpetuating the climate crisis and the inequities that it exacerbates. We need to demand a just transition to a clean energy economy, one that creates good jobs and opportunities for all, not just a privileged few.

And we need to build a movement that is truly inclusive and intersectional, one that recognizes the interconnectedness of all our struggles and all our hopes. We need to stand in solidarity with those who are fighting for justice on all fronts – from the streets of Ferguson to the forests of the Amazon, from the mines of Appalachia to the island nations of the Pacific.

This is not an easy task. It will require us to confront uncomfortable truths, challenge entrenched systems of power, to build new alliances and coalitions. But it is a task that we must undertake, for the sake of our planet and our people.

Because in the end, we are all in this together. We all share one planet, one home, one future. And we all have a role to play in shaping that future – not just for ourselves, but for generations to come.

So let us leave here today with a renewed commitment to justice, equity, to solidarity. Let us work to build a world where every person has the right to a livable planet, a world where the benefits and burdens of climate action are shared fairly and equitably, and a world where we recognize our common humanity and our common fate.

The road ahead will not be easy, but we have the power to choose the path we take. Let us choose the path of justice, the path of compassion, the path of a sustainable and equitable future for all. Thank you.

Commentary: This speech powerfully articulates the intersection of climate change and social justice, highlighting how the impacts of climate change disproportionately affect marginalized communities. It calls for an intersectional approach to climate action, one that centers the voices and experiences of those most impacted and invests in community-led solutions. The speech emphasizes the need for accountability, a just transition, and an inclusive, intersectional movement. It ends with a stirring call to action, urging the audience to commit to justice, equity, and solidarity in the fight for a sustainable future. This speech would be suitable for a social justice conference, an environmental justice event, or any occasion where you want to highlight the systemic inequities of the climate crisis and inspire people to take intersectional action.

Speech 6: Climate Change and the Future of Humanity (Lengthy – 1,000 words or more)

My fellow humans, we stand at a pivotal moment in the history of our species. The choices we make in the coming years will determine not just the fate of our planet, but the fate of humanity itself. And there is no greater threat to our future than the reality of climate change.

For decades, we have known that our addiction to fossil fuels, our relentless consumption and waste, and our disregard for the natural world – all these things have been pushing our planet to the brink. We have seen the evidence in the melting of the polar ice caps, the bleaching of the coral reefs, and the extinction of countless species. We have felt the impacts of the rising temperatures and the extreme weather events, the droughts and the floods, and the wildfires that have become the new normal.

And yet, even in the face of this overwhelming evidence, we have been slow to act. We have been held back by the forces of inertia and denial, by the vested interests of those who profit from the status quo, and by the short-sightedness of those who prioritize present gains over future sustainability.

But we cannot afford to wait any longer. The science is clear: if we do not take urgent and dramatic action to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, transition to a clean energy economy, to transform the way we live work, and consume – then we risk crossing irreversible tipping points that will lead to catastrophic and irreversible climate change.

This is not just an environmental issue – it is an existential threat to human civilization as we know it. It is a threat to our food and water security, to our public health and safety, to our economic stability and geopolitical security. It is a threat to the very foundations of our society and our way of life.

But it is also an opportunity – an opportunity to reimagine our relationship with the natural world, to build a more just and equitable society, and to create a future that is not just sustainable, but regenerative and thriving.

We have the tools and the knowledge to make this transition. We have renewable energy technologies, sustainable agriculture practices, the green infrastructure solutions. We have the economic models and policy frameworks, the social movements, and cultural shifts.

What we need now is the political will and the moral courage to act. We need leaders who are willing to stand up to the fossil fuel industry, to the corporate polluters, to the forces of greed and exploitation. We need citizens who are willing to demand change, to hold their governments accountable, and to make the necessary sacrifices and investments.

And we need to do it together – as a global community, as a human family. Because climate change knows no borders, no boundaries, no divisions of race or class or creed. It affects us all, and it will take all of us to solve it.

So let us rise to this challenge, let us seize this moment. Let us look to the examples of those who have gone before us – the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land for generations, the environmental activists who have fought tirelessly for change, and the scientists and innovators who have given us the tools to build a better world.

Let us draw strength from their courage and their wisdom, and let us add our voices and actions to the growing chorus for change. Let us build an unstoppable movement, a movement that is rooted in love, justice, and compassion for all living things.

And let us never forget what is at stake – the future of our children and grandchildren, the future of all the species with whom we share this planet, and the future of life itself. We are the guardians of this precious and fragile world, and it is our sacred duty to protect it.

So let us go forth from this place with a renewed sense of purpose and urgency. Let us work to create a world where clean air, water, and soil are not luxuries but fundamental rights, where renewable energy powers our homes and our economies, and where nature is valued, protected, and restored.

Let us create a world where every person has the opportunity to thrive, where poverty and inequality are relics of the past, and where justice and compassion are the guiding principles of our society. Let us create a world that is worthy of the sacrifices and the struggles of those who came before us, and that is a testament to the boundless potential of the human spirit.

This is our moment, our opportunity, our responsibility. Let us rise to meet it with everything we have, with all the love, courage, and determination in our hearts. For the sake of our planet, for the sake of our children, for the sake of our very survival – let us act, and let us act now. Thank you.

Commentary: This speech is a powerful and impassioned call to action on climate change, framing it as an existential threat to human civilization and a moral imperative for urgent and dramatic action. It highlights the devastating impacts of climate change, the forces of inertia and denial that have held us back, and the opportunities for a just and sustainable transition. The speech calls for political will, moral courage, and global solidarity in the face of this crisis and ends with a stirring vision of a world transformed by a movement rooted in love, justice, and compassion. This speech would be ideal for a major international conference, a UN summit, or any high-profile event where you want to galvanize global action on climate change and inspire people with a transformative vision of the future.

Climate change is a complex and intimidating challenge, but it is also an opportunity to build a better world.

By crafting powerful and persuasive speeches, we can inspire others to action, mobilize communities and movements, and create the political will for change.

Whether you’re speaking to a small group or a global audience, remember to frame the issue in terms that resonate with your listeners, highlight both the urgency of the crisis and the opportunities for solutions, and call people to action with a vision of a just and sustainable future.

Together, we can rise to meet this moment and create a world that is worthy of the generations to come.

Environment Speech in English for Students

August 2, 2021 by Sandeep

Speech on Environment: World Environment Day is celebrated on 5th June every year since 1947. We have to protect our environment and natural resources and keep our earth, safe, clean and green. Balance in our ecosystem improves the quality of life and makes the earth a better place to live. Pollution, natural calamities and global warming have disturbed the delicate balance in the environment. By conserving resources, reducing pollution, planting more trees and recycling wastes, we can protect our environment.

Speech on Environment 500 Words in English

Below we have provided Save Environment Speech in English, written in easy and simple words for classes 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12. Students who are participating in a speech writing competition can use this environmental speech topic for their reference.

“The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.” Said by Lady Bird Johnson. I am glad that we are discussing such a vital topic in our lives. Very good morning to everyone over here, respected teachers & my fellow friends. It feels a privilege that I am given a chance to deliver my speech on the topic ‘environment.’

The environment is the source of every life. The natural environment around us in which we breathe, sleep, eat, do work is the need of every living being on this planet. We all are dependent on this environment for food, shelter, water, oxygen etc. But over the years, the balance between nature & living beings has been misbalanced & human society has played a vital role in degrading the environment. It has impacted all the life forms on the earth.

Mother earth has given us unique gifts like rivers, biodiversity, mountains, flora & fauna. It has never stopped amazing us. Sadly there is no part of this beautiful earth which has not been contaminated by human beings. Some of the prevalent environmental problems trending these days are pollution, global warming , depleting underground water, increase in sea level, overexploitation of natural resources, diminishing forests, loss of biodiversity, extinction of species, climatic misbalance, melting of polar ice, ozone layer depletion & many more like this.

We all are aware of these, which is leading us to a deteriorating situation every day. One of the major cause is the population explosion which is leading to the exploitation of natural resources. Due to the growing demand, the invention & usage of technology is increasing rapidly so as the manufacturing, mining etc. The modern technologies have affected the environment in a degree which cannot be imagined.

Now knowing that all of we have done the damage, it is our responsibility to take steps to protect the mother earth. I am sure each one of us wants to save the environment, but saving the environment is not only respecting the government policies. It will be visible when we start taking care of our immediate environment. Though the problem is aggravated to many folds, every problem does have a solution.

Let’s do a pledge today to restore the natural balance. Each one of us must plant a tree every year. We must ensure that we are recycling the plastic wastes instead of throwing them like a shopping bag, water bottles, etc. Coming to school by cycle & walking must be ensured whenever possible instead of using a car, bikes & buses.

We all must ensure to keep our surrounding neat & clean. Everything starts with us, let’s make a better tomorrow. We must remember that nothing is impossible. It’s just that we need to keep faith in ourselves & do something for our planet. Save the planet; Save a life.

Short Speech on Environment 200 Words

Below we have provided 2 minute speech on environment, suitable for class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 students.

Good morning to everyone present over here. Respected teachers & my dear friends. I am happy to speak on one of my favourite topic, i.e. the Environment. The environment has always amazed me in various ways, let it the mountains, rivers, birds, animals, ocean, forests many more. This speech will go on if I discuss the bountiful things nature has gifted us. It has been quoted by Aristotle that “In all things of nature, there is something of the marvellous.”

But we the humans have adversely affected the balance between the environment & life on earth. Growing population, the growing demand & modern technologies has demarcated a wall between us & nature. The natural cycle has been disturbed. We have caused great pain to our mother earth with our activities. We have polluted the air breathe in, the water without which life is not possible, the soil which supports the life on the planet.

Humans have destroyed almost all parts of the earth. The consequences of the misbalance are not acceptable, which has resulted in havoc on earth. Global warming, climatic misbalance, rising temperature, rising sea level, extinction of species & many more. So let’s ask ourselves one question today, what have I done to save my mother earth? If you are already contributed for the cause, then pat yourself that you are already on it. It is the responsibility of all of us to do our part for our planet.

Let’s pledge to protect the environment we see around us. Minimal steps like planting a tree in a year also make a tremendous difference to the environment. Using paper bags instead of plastic will be another impacting step. Let’s incorporate those practices in our lives, which will make the earth a better place to live in. It is our responsibility to save the environment. Save the Environment, and you will Save Life and Future.

Speech on Save The Environment

Speech on save environment – 1.

Respected Principal, Respected Vice Principal, Respected Teachers and My Fellow Students!

I am happy that today in our morning assembly we have taken this extremely vital topic, i.e. Saving the Environment for speech and discussion. And, it feels privileged that I, as the head girl of the school, have been given this opportunity of delivering a speech. Nothing excites me as much as the discussion on environment and geography; especially when it has become such a trending topic in recent times. I am sure each one of us wants to Save Environment at any cost. However, saving the environment doesn’t mean protecting only our immediate environment, but also our parks, forest reserves and wildlife sanctuaries too. There is no reason to doubt that we all owe this responsibility to make our Mother Earth; a cleaner and safer place to live in.

The all-embracing Mother Earth has bequeathed on human beings some incredibly beautiful gifts of nature, like we have rivers, mountains, forests and different natural resources that help us to survive on this planet every single day. Therefore, it’s our turn now to work towards in saving the environment from the challenges that are posing a constant threat for the existence of our Mother Earth.

Sadly, there is no part of the earth left that has not been affected by our actions so much so that our planet’s health – be it in the form of land where we survive and work on, the ozone layer, the water supply, the wildlife or our species – is being put under constant threat. The environment we live in is of course not as conducive as it used to be earlier. There are hordes of chemical industries excreting poisonous chemicals into the rivers and innumerable vehicles releasing dangerous fumes, people disposing waste in a manner which isn’t safe for our environment and ruining it.

Though the problem has aggravated to quite a great extent, but it does have a solution. It’s just that we will have to keep faith in ourselves that we can do something for our planet.

So let’s pledge to “Save our Mother Earth” in whatever ways possible for us.

There are various ways adopting which we can effectively contribute towards the cause. For instance, we can grow more and more trees in our living surroundings as well as where we find an empty piece of land. Or if you have a backyard or a piece of land at your home, then start planting trees. Plants, as we all know, absorb carbon dioxide for the process of photosynthesis and release oxygen into the environment. The estimation says that a single tree can soak up to one ton of carbon dioxide till the time it lives. No issues, if you don’t have much space, you can even keep small tubs of plants in your balcony, doorway or windows.

Secondly, use less of your personal vehicles and habituate yourself to use public transport and bicycles for short distances. Besides, do not waste energy at home or office. Switch off the device, when not in use. Then you can use fluorescent light bulbs in place of normal bulbs. You may find these bulbs expensive, but trust me they really help in bringing down our electricity bills and emit 70 percent less heat in comparison to normal bulbs.

You should also use water wisely; turn off the tap immediately after use. Don’t dump the garbage anywhere and dispose the waste in dustbin. Encourage others too in your family and at your work place to adopt these measures and save your environment from the impending doom.

This is all I have to say. Thank You!

Speech on Save Environment – 2

Respected CEO, Respected Managers, Dear Colleagues (Supervisors) and Dear Factory Staff!

As we have gathered here to celebrate the ‘World Environment day’, I’ve been given this opportunity to share the statistics in regards to environment conservation. But before that, I would share my views and facts about environment.

Our environment is a very crucial part of our lives. It is the main source of living as we get food, water, air from the environment. In fact, environment is what sustains us and where we breathe and live every moment. Thus, the quality of our life depends majorly on our environment.

In earlier days, people lived in harmony, adapting themselves to the environment; but in the modern era we are attempting to mould the environment according to our need and convenience thereby ultimately harming ourselves indirectly in the long run. Latest technological advancements in the field of science have made us more empowered, of which I think we are taking undue advantage, by utilizing the environment resources indiscriminately and giving it nothing in return, but harmful chemicals and pollution.

These results into environmental problems across the globe, creating issues such as deforestation, loss of biodiversity, air pollution, river pollution due to the inflow of poisonous chemicals, waste materials, garbage, plastics, etc., global warming and weakening of ozone layer, diminution of underground water, oil and gas reserves and natural resources such as minerals, growth of poisonous gases, pollution, smog, etc. in the air.

It is quite evident that because of our unchecked actions we have disturbed the ecological balance of our environment and hence are facing these issues. This is high time when we should take some strict actions in order to preserve our environment and make our place a better place to live in for our next generations.

Well, the first step would be to adapt our process of manufacturing and domestic product usage in harmony with the environment. More of regenerative, reusable and recyclable techniques must be used in manufacturing units, etc. Advanced countries are more liable contributors to the Global environmental problems; thus government of such countries and the UNO (United Nations Organization) must take precautionary measures at a global level. Also, long term plan and close monitoring of actions of the manufacturing units is required; youth must be educated to respect and live in harmony with environment rather than experimenting and exploiting it.

Each one of us must be mindful to protect the environment as global warming is a serious issue leading to advanced level of environmental pollution which is detrimental to health. Natural resources and forests must be preserved in order to control drought and flood. Pesticides must be used in a limited manner and the soil must be saved from contamination.

The waste of vegetables and fruits can be converted into fertilizers and shouldn’t be dumped into ponds, etc. By taking care of our small actions like saving drinking water, usage of jute, cloth, paper bags, recycling the waste products, etc. We can still save our environment from deteriorating completely.

I hope from now on, we all will implement these measures in our day-to-day lives and do every bit to protect our environment.

Speech on Save Environment – 3

Good morning respected principal, teachers and my dear friends.

Our topic for today’s assembly is ‘Save Environment’.

What is environment? I know we all will have different definition for this single word. In very simple words, I will address environment as the surroundings in which we humans or plants and animals live. Now, let’s just think that will we ever like to live in the surroundings that are bad or unhealthy? No, right..! We always want to live in the surroundings or the environment that is safe for us and others. An ideal environment is the one that does not lead to human diseases and extinction of natural resources, plants and animals.

Human beings play a vital role in the conservation of the environment. Good or bad environment depends on our activities. By our unscrupulous actions, we are contributing to the degeneration of the natural environment which in turn negatively affects human life on the planet Earth. All the human actions and activities in this modern world directly impact the whole ecosystem and environment. We should monitor our actions and ensure that we restrict our hazardous activities so that environment can be safeguarded.

It is our duty to protect the environment. But today our environment is under threat because of our deeds and decisions. We are responsible for pollution in the environment. Deforestation, mining, unjustified usage of machines and electricity, using several vehicles for traveling short distances etc., are responsible for pollution. Global warming, depletion of natural resources, untimely rains, cyclones, diseases and life amidst pollution and many more are the traits that show we are living in an imbalanced environment. Knowing this that we are ruining the surroundings for us as well as future generation, we should stop right away. We should control our activities that threaten our environment.

Saving environment is not a big task; it is not something that cannot be tackled. We just need to take a few steps like; save natural resources such as water, energy etc; dispose of our waste in the correct way and not litter around on roads and public places, etc; grow more trees, use public vehicles and avoid using personalized vehicles for each member, controlling industrial waste, etc. Isn’t it simple? Yes, it is. We only need to be cautious and have control on our actions and we will surely end up at least reducing the bad effects and doing our part in saving the environment.

To conclude my discussion, I will like to request you all to please do your bit and monitor the activities you perform and also educate others to safeguard their actions and protect environment. We should promote and contribute to the projects run by the government and various NGOs that focus on saving the environment. A lot of major environmental problems would disappear if we all curb the excessive use of petroleum, coal and natural gas. Let us grow more trees and create all possible ways to dispose off waste correctly. The focus should entirely shift on renewable and reusable sources of energy. These would help Save Environment from global warming.

Thank you! Keep spreading the message.

Speech on Save Environment – 4

Good morning everyone. I welcome you all to this discussion board.

Our topic for today’s discussion is ‘Save Environment’.

How important do you all think saving environment is? Saving our environment is exactly saving our lives. The environment is basically the atmosphere, and surrounding geographical area. Environment is the main source for human beings, plants and animals to live in and get food from, to eat, to play, to work, to enjoy, to walk, to breath, to hear, to drink or to overall exist. To run the life in a healthy happy way, we all need a healthy and natural environment.

We all have the responsibility to monitor the environment and day to day actions that are being done here. The ecology or environmental balance and natural cycles have become imbalanced which is very hard to bring back and give it a natural shape. Environmental can be protected at various levels: individual, organization controlled or governmental levels, to ensure sustainable development.

We all should understand that our environment consists of all the things like the living and the non-living things in it. It can be classified as Natural environment and Built environment. Natural environment is the one that has been naturally into existence since long and built environment is the one that has been made by man; the buildings, industries, etc.

Many of the human activities like cutting of trees, industrialization, technological improvements and so many are leading our environment towards danger and deterioration and is also keeping lives at risk by influencing the growth, development and survival of all organisms. Many types of environmental pollution such as water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, soil pollution, etc are diminishing the ecosystem and causing a variety of health hazards, diseases to the human beings and animals. Continuous imbalanced temperature of the Earth because of the many man-made and natural means leads to the various natural calamities and hazards causing disturbance to a great extent to the harmonious existence of human and all other living beings.

We all should be focused on our activities and watch out that none of us adds on to the reduction of the environment’s quality. We should use the energy, electricity and natural resources wisely; restrict the usage of vehicles on short distances and emphasize on using public transport instead of personalized for each member. These are just a few actions that we human beings should take to safeguard our environment.

To conclude my discussion on saving environment, I know that you all are well aware about the key aspects to be kept in mind as the cautious human who safeguards the environment. Every action of ours has a result and consequence, result might be the one that we desire for but mostly the consequences are the ones that can be classified as good and bad for our environment. We owe a responsibility to protect the environment by following those minor activities.

Thank you all for being a part and creating the spark in yourselves for protecting our mother earth, our environment.

The annual celebration of it depends on the particular theme of the year (declared by the UN) which focuses on implementing some new and effective plans to save the environment.

My dear friends, this event is celebrated globally in more than 100 countries because this issue cannot be solved individually by one country. It is a global issue and needs to be solved globally by the involvement of all the countries worldwide. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme whereas its annual celebration is organized by the different host city every year declared by the United Nations. The host city of this campaign in 2016 was Angola. First time it was celebrated in 1973 with the theme of “Only one Earth”.

It aims to engage and draw attention of millions of people including political and health organizations from different countries across the world to make new plans and implement them accordingly. It is very necessary to address the issues like wastage and losses of food, increasing global warming, deforestation, pollution, industrialization, etc in order to control the negative environmental changes. Its celebration focuses on carbon neutrality, forest management, managing greenhouse effect, promoting bio-fuels production, use of hydro-power to produce electricity, encouraging people to use solar water heaters, use of solar system, promoting coral reefs and mangroves restoration and other effectives of environmental preservation.

World Environment Day Speech 2

Good morning to the Excellencies, Principal Sir, Sir, Madam and my dear friends. My name is … I study in class … First of all I would like to say a big thank to my class teacher for allowing me to speech at this great opportunity. My dear friends, we have gathered here to celebrate a most important day called as world environment day. I will recite a speech on the importance of celebrating world environment day. I have also mentioned the point of what we are losing day by day with the declining condition of our environment. Yes friends, it is necessary to be discussed among us so that we can know about world environment day and other points related to it.

My dear friends, UN had established a special day named as ‘World Environment Day’ in 1972 to save worldwide environment for our better future on the earth. In the happiness of worldwide technological development, we have forgotten that we are losing something too. Such developments have given happiness to us however on the other hand; it has snatched many natural heritages from us. My dear friends, do you know that our many favorite foods have been predicted to go extinct just because of our mistakes have been done for years in the form of developments like high use of electricity, deforestation, industrialization, direct sewage outing to the big river canals, invention of polythenes, etc harmful inventions. Such inventions have given rise to the global warming, pollution, rise of sea level, etc and declining the healthy condition of environment.

World Environment Day is a great annual event celebrated globally on 5 th of June to understand our mistakes and act positively to neutralize the bad effects of those mistakes. It has been established to act actively on its various objectives. It was first celebrated in 1973 by the United Nations General Assembly and United Nations Environment Programme to address various environmental issues like global warming, food shortages, deforestation, etc. According to the scientists, in the near future more than two-thirds of flora and fauna will be extinct because of human-induced environmental changes. Our future generations will have no access to the foods like honey, coffee, king corn, chocolate and sea food because of huge changes in the climate and environment.

We like honey a lot and want to add one spoon of it to our daily diet especially morning smoothie. Soon, it will be called as liquid gold and we will get it at jewelers shop because 2 out of 5 honeybees are on the way to extinction due to the high level use of insecticides and pesticides in farming as well as increasing temperature and changing weather conditions. Such herbicides are toxic to the bees and other pollinators. Decline in the population of bees will also affect the food supply as they responsible to pollinate around 250,000 species of plants and 90 food crops.

Ever increasing rate of climate changes is snatching the chocolate from us. The main cause of difficulty in producing cocoa is continuous rising temperature and change in weather patterns. High temperature causes evapotranspiration from the cocoa trees means lack of water from the trees which ultimately lowers cocoa production. Its production will diminish more by 2030.

High temperature, extremely changing weather conditions and depleting water supply are causing rust and fungus which inhibiting the production of coffee. The production of seafood is also in danger and decreasing due to the global warming. Numbers of water-species, fishes including planktons are on the way to extinct. King corn is also saying us bye-bye because of the huge climatic changes and global warming. Deforestation at large-scale is pushing many plant species like palm oil, etc towards extinction.

Dear friends, we need to do something effective in order to reduce the rate of climate change as well as save many natural resources for better life on the earth in future. 3R techniques (reduce, reuse and recycle) can be very effective in lessening the impact of our bad activities over natural ecosystem. We should start from small but effective steps like switch to organic food from inorganic food, use of natural fertilizers over chemical fertilizers, reduce use of electricity, reuse things, recycle wates, stop deforestation, save wild animals, etc to reduce the rate climate changes. Our positive steps will really help in solving environmental issues in near future.

Healthy Environment, Healthy Future!

World Environment Day Speech 3

Good morning to the Excellencies, Principal Sir, Sir, Madam, my seniors and my dear friends. My name is … I study in class … I would like to speech today on the topic world environment day at this great event. I am very thankful to my class teacher that he has given me the opportunity to speech at this event. My dear friends, as we all are well aware of this event, we must be aware about the objectives of world environment day. Today, I will recite a speech focusing on objectives of the campaign and our own responsibilities regarding environment. Yes friends, it’s we who can bring better positives changes in the declining environment. So, it is necessary to discus about this topic among us.

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to celebrate annually on 5 th of June. It was first celebrated in 1973 aiming to inspire worldwide people to take positives action regarding prevention of environment on planet earth. Illegal trade in wildlife for many years has eroded our precious biodiversity and threatened the survival of wild animals such as elephants, tigers, rhinos, gorillas, sea turtles, etc important species. World environment day slogan for 2016 was “Go Wild for Life” to awake people involved in wildlife crime and correct the damages done by it. It is a big challenge in front of us to solve this big issue in order to get better future on earth.

Objectives of celebrating this event every year are like:

  • To spread awareness among common public about the environmental issues.
  • To encourage people living in society and communities to become active agents sustainable and eco-friendly development.
  • To get global support of people to make it a globally successful campaign.
  • To motivate people for cleanliness in the nearby surrounding areas for better start of this campaign.

Wildlife crime has endangered many animal species whereas some species have been extinct such as Javan rhino in Vietnam and western black rhinos in Cameroon in 2011. Great apes have also been disappeared from Gambia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo and other countries. My dear friends, we live on earth, so earth is our first home. Just forget about your individual home and focus on the joint home which is earth. We should keep it clean, green and crime free so that environment can nourish us and not bother us forever. I am sure that if all the human being understand and follow their responsibilities regarding earth and environment, that day is not so far when all the living beings will be happy under one roof of healthy environment on this planet.

Save Wildlife, Save Environment!

World Environment Day Speech 4

Good morning to the Principal Sir, Sir, Madam, my seniors and my dear colleagues. My name is … I study in class … and I would like to speech on world environment day – a campaign made by the UNGA to solve all the environmental issues for safe environment and better future. My dear friends, we have gathered here to celebrate this great event today on 5 th of June. And, I am very thankful to my class teacher for giving me such a great opportunity to speech at this event. World environment day is a big day for us which has been created, to make us realize that what wrong we are doing towards the nature, for our betterment in future.

The celebration of this campaign in 2016 was based on the special slogan “Go wild for life” and theme “fight against the illegal trade in wildlife for life” (means zero tolerance for the illegal trade in wildlife). The special theme was declared this year to focus on the life of wild animals like orangutans, elephants, gorillas, pangolins, whales, rhinos, sea turtles, rosewoods, tigers, helmeted hornbills, including other species. This action is taken to safeguard the species that are under threat for future generations. The increasing rate of crime in wildlife has damaged the ecosystem balance very seriously which needs urgent action to reverse it.

Wildlife trade has negatively affected the wild life and some of the animal species are near to the extinction in many countries. Wildlife traders are loading their purses from many years but they are emptying the nature’s store. This campaign celebration in 2016 has aimed to reduce the demand of illegal wildlife products in any field all over the world. It is our responsibility too that we should actively involve in this campaign to completely remove the wildlife crime worldwide. This global crime forces us to stand together to stop the trafficking of wildlife. We should promote the activities regarding solution of environmental issues through arts, crafts exhibitions, flash mobs, film festivals, social media, etc. We should be conscious what is going wrong in our environment and try our best to stop that in nearby areas. Many members of a family work hard to earn money and run a home. My dear friends, we all are members of a family and live in one home under one roof that is earth and environment. We should take care of both because our life will be healthy and safe only when the earth will be green and environment clean.

One Earth, One Environment and One Life; so live it, don’t waste it!

Ukrainian children deserve to learn and grow in a safe environment, free from Russian aggression: UK statement to the OSCE

Ambassador Holland condemns the impact of Russia's illegal war on the safety, education, identity and future of Ukraine's children.

Neil Holland

Thank you, Mister Chair. As children around the world returned to school this week, in Ukraine they continue to face significant obstacles due to Russia’s ongoing war of aggression.

Across Ukraine, thousands of schools and children’s facilities have been damaged or destroyed by Russia’s military attacks. Over the last week, Russia has intensified its aerial attacks against Ukraine, hitting, among other civilian locations, schools in Lviv, nurseries in Kyiv and a centre for the social and psychological rehabilitation of children in Sumy. These have caused a number of casualties, including a 14-year-old girl who was killed in a Russian attack on a playground in Kharkiv. Our thoughts are with all the victims and their loved ones.

The UN now estimates that over 600 Ukrainian children have been killed since February 2022. This constant threat of violence has made it unsafe for two thirds of children in frontline regions to attend school in person. Most schools in these regions are closed due to ongoing hostilities, while elsewhere thousands cannot reopen because they do not have protective shelters.

Nationwide, half of school aged children rely on some level of remote based education. Yet frequent power outages, caused by Russia’s targeted attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities, have only led to further disruptions and obstacles to their learning. Instead of experiencing a normal school year, Ukrainian children are often forced to seek shelter from air strikes, to navigate disrupted communities, or even to flee their homes.

At the same time, Ukrainian children going back to school in the Russian-controlled territories of Ukraine are faced with a different kind of challenge. We are seeing growing reports of the systematic indoctrination of children in these areas. The illegitimate Russian authorities have implemented re-education programmes designed to erase Ukrainian identity and to instil pro-Russian sentiments among the youth. Children in these areas are subjected to a curriculum that distorts historical facts, glorifies Russian military actions, and promotes allegiance to Russia. The indoctrination efforts include history lessons that frame Ukraine as part of Russia, and in some cases, military training.

Russia’s strategy to indoctrinate Ukrainian children dates back to its illegal annexation of Crimea ten years ago, before being enforced in the Russian-held parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts since 2022. And Russia’s forced deportation of thousands of Ukrainian children forms part of this strategy. These children are separated from their families and communities, and then deported or forcibly transferred to Russia or Russian-held territories where they are subjected to these indoctrination practices. Reports detail the psychological impact on the children, who are confused and distressed by the forced assimilation and the separation from their families.

Mister Chair, Russia’s deportation of these children is a clear violation of international law and it aims to undermine Ukrainian sovereignty. It represents a grave human rights abuse, as the Russian state attempts to erode Ukraine’s future by reshaping the identities and loyalties of its youngest citizens. The UK and our international partners condemn these practices and call for an immediate end to the deportation, exploitation and manipulation of children in these regions. Russia must be held accountable for its actions. Ukrainian children deserve to learn and grow in a safe environment, free from Russian aggression. Thank you, Mister Chair.
