He is also considered as an avatar of the Lord Vishnu. Lord Krishna was born in the month of Bhadon (it is a month in the Hindu calendar) on the 8th day of the dark fortnight.
He was around 5,200 years back. He was born to free the world from evil and negativity. He is the central figure of the Bhagavad Gita. During the Battle of Kurukshetra, he gave Arjuna the wrongful spiritual discourse of the Bhagavad Gita. At that time, Lord Krishna taught a non-secular direction of understanding, devotion, and discrimination.
Story of Janmashtami
The king of Mathura, Kansa, was an evil king. He had a sister named Devaki, who married to Vasudeva. The day the both were married, a voice from the sky forecasted (prediction is made) that 8th son of Devaki and Vasudeva will end up the Kansa’s rule and also kill him. Lord Krishna was born in northern India in prison to religious mother and father – Devaki and Vasudeva. Once he was born, his life was in danger due to the fact the tyrant Kamsa was wanted to kill him eagerly.
The fact is, before the birth of Lord Krishna, tyrant Kamsa (maternal uncle of Lord Krishna) had already killed seven children of Devaki’s and also had a plan to kill Devaki’s next child because it has been foretold that tyrant Kamsa would be killed by Devaki’s 8th child only. After this prediction, Kansa became very frightened, and he held the couple to kill their 8th child. Kansa had a plan to kill every child of them, including the 8th. Whenever Devaki gave birth to a child, he came to the prison, took her child brutally, and killed him/her in front of their parents.
When their 7th child was born, cruel Kansa, again, came to the prison and killed him too and also feared the couple giving birth to their eighth infant soon, thereby, he could kill him soon to keep ruling. Since Lord Krishna became the 8th child, he became sneaked out of prison. Vasudeva found himself magically free of prison. He ran away with the Krishna to a more secure residence, and Lord Vishnu eliminated all of the limitations from Vasudeva’s course.
The fact is that Vasudeva visited a home in Gokul, swapped Lord Krishna with a newborn girl of Yashoda and Nanda, and finally returned to the prison with the girl toddler. When Kansa heard about the news of 8th childbirth, he again came to the prison to kill the child. The toddler girl comes out from the heavens and transformed into the goddess Yogamaya. Then she stated that “O foolish Kansa!” You will get nothing by killing me; your enemy is already born. All of this made Kansa frustrated, and he started shouting that he would kill him very soon. Moreover, once Lord Krishna returned to Mathura, he killed Kansa and saved his father.
How is Janmashtami Celebrated?
The celebration of this festival is in the mid-night only by believing that Lord Krishna was born in the dark. A cradle is arranged to believe that Lord Krishna will take birth there only. Even Makhan was distributed and eaten by the people. Besides, a celebration is done in temples; a special game is also played where an earthen pot (matki) filled with Makhan tied very high from the ground. After this, a human pyramid is made to break the matki. Because the matki is tired too high, a tall pyramid is arranged, thereby, many people can take part in this celebration.

Janmashtami At My Home
Janmashtami holds a special place in my heart and my experience of Janmashtami brings back nostalgic memories. I used to eagerly watch the reenactment of Krishna's birth and immerse myself in movies, plays, and discussions about his life with my sisters. Janmashtami includes various rituals, but personally, my favourite thing to do was to decorate the whole place and also dress like a Krishna idol. We used to set aside money from our allowance to honour Lord Krishna's birthday. In a way, it was a lot of fun. I yearn for those younger years. In school also teachers used to ask us to write a paragraph on Janmashtami celebration.
My sister and brother assisted with the decorations. We celebrated modestly last year inside our mandir due to the circumstances brought on by the pandemic's onset. My mother made delicious desserts at home. Every day, for a week, several television programmes about Lord Krishna were shown. I enjoyed watching them as a kid and I still love to watch these programmes. I adore Krishna's love of eating Makhan, which he used to smuggle out of his mother's kitchen. Because of this, Lord Krishna is often referred to as "Natkhat Nand Lal" . Because he was an extremely naughty child, he was named Natkhat. He enjoyed playing with friends and cows, which is why he is also known as Govind.

Kamsa managed to kill six of Devaki’s sons but Vasudeva somehow managed to save the seventh and eighth child that is, Balrama and Krishna respectively.
Krishna was born in an environment of complete chaos and mismanagement. Persecution was common, there was now freedom, no liberty and people were denied even the most important of their rights. Krishna, the eighth avtaar of Vishnu was born to put an end to Kamsa’s evil reign.
