By Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I was nine years old, sitting stiffly at the dining table in my blue-and-white school uniform, and across from me sat my mother, who had come home from work at the university registry, elegant in her swishy skirt, smelling of Poison perfume and saying she wanted to watch me eat. I still do not know who told her that I was skipping lunch before school. Perhaps it was the houseboy, Fide. Perhaps it was my little brother Kenechukwu, who went to school in the morning and came home just before I left. The firm set of her mouth told me that I had no choice but to eat the garri and soup placed on the table. I made the sign of the cross. I plucked a morsel from the soft lump of garri . I lightly molded it with my fingers. I dipped it into the soup. I swallowed. My throat itched. I disliked all the variants of this quintessential Nigerian food, whether made from corn, cassava, or yams, whether cooked or stirred or pounded in a mortar until they became a soft mash. It was jokingly called “swallow,” because one swallowed the morsels without chewing; it was easy to tell that a person chewing garri was a foreigner.
“Hurry up,” my mother said. “You will be late for school.” We had garri for lunch every day except Sunday, when we had rice and stew and sometimes a lush salad that contained everything from baked beans to boiled eggs and was served with dollops of creamy dressing. The soups gave some variety to lunch: the yellowish egusi , made of ground melon seeds and vegetables; onugbu , rich with dark-green bitterleaf; okro , with its sticky sauce; nsala , with beef chunks floating in a thin herb-filled broth. I disliked them all.
That afternoon, it was egusi soup. My mother’s eyes were steady behind her glasses. “Are you playing with that food or eating it?” she asked. I said I was eating. Finally, I finished and said, “Mummy, thank you,” as all well-brought-up Igbo children were supposed to after a meal. I had just stepped outside the carpeted dining area and onto the polished concrete floor of the passage when my stomach churned and recoiled and the garri and soup rushed up my throat.
“Go upstairs and rinse your mouth,” my mother said.
When I came down, Fide was cleaning up the watery yellowish mess, and I was sorry he had to and I was too disgusted to look. After I told my mother that I never ate garri before school, that on Saturdays I waited until nobody was looking to wrap my garri in a piece of paper and slip it into the dustbin, I expected her to scold me. But she muttered in Igbo, “You want hunger to kill you,” and then told me to get a Fanta from the fridge.
Years later, she asked me, “What does garri really do to you?” “It scratches my throat,” I told her, and she laughed. It became a standing line of family teasing. “Does this scratch your throat?” my brothers would ask. Following that afternoon, my mother had boiled yams, soft and white and crumbly, made for my lunch; I ate them dipped in palm oil. Sometimes she would come home with a few wraps of warm okpa , which remains my favorite food: a simple, orange-colored, steamed pie of white beans and palm oil that tastes best cooked in banana leaves. We didn’t make it at home, perhaps because it was not native to our part of Igboland. Or perhaps because those we bought on the roadside from the women who carried them in large basins on their heads were too good to surpass.
I wish I ate garri . It is important to the people I love: My late grandmother used to want to have garri three times a day. My brother’s idea of a perfect meal is pounded yam. My father once came home from a conference in Paris, and when I asked how it had gone he said that he had missed real food. In Igbo, another word for “swallow” is simply “food,” so that one might overhear a sentence like “The food was well pounded, but the soup was not tasty.” My brothers, with affectionate mockery, sometimes ask whether it is possible for a person who does not eat swallow to be authentically Igbo, Nigerian, African.
On New Year’s Day of the year I turned thirteen, we went to my Aunt Dede’s house for lunch. “Did you remember?” my mother asked my aunt while gesturing toward me. My aunt nodded. There was a small bowl of jollof rice, soft-cooked in an oily tomato sauce, for me. My brothers praised the onugbu soup—“Auntie, this is soup that you washed your hands well before cooking”—and I wished that I, too, could say something. Then my boisterous Auntie Rosa arrived, her wrapper always seeming to be just about to slip off her waist. After she had exchanged hugs with everyone, she settled down with her pounded yam and noticed that I was eating rice. “Why are you not eating food?” she asked in Igbo. I said I did not eat swallow. She smiled and said to my mother, “Oh, you know she is not like us local people. She is foreign.” ♦

Essays About Food: Top 5 Examples and 6 Writing Prompts
Food is one of the greatest joys of life; it is both necessary to live and able to lift our spirits. If you are writing essays about food, read our guide.
Many people live and die by food. While its primary purpose is to provide us with the necessary nutrients to carry out bodily functions, the satisfaction food can give a person is beyond compare. For people of many occupations, such as chefs, waiters, bakers, and food critics, food has become a way of life.
Why do so many people enjoy food? It can provide us with the sensory pleasure we need to escape from the trials of daily life. From the moist tenderness of a good-quality steak to the sweet, rich decadence of a hot fudge sundae, food is truly magical. Instead of eating to stay alive, many even joke that they “live to eat.” In good food, every bite is like heaven.

6 Prompts for Essays About Food
1. what is your favorite dish, 2. what is your favorite cuisine, 3. is a vegan diet sustainable, 4. the dangers of fast food, 5. a special food memory, 6. the food of your home country.
“Food has so many things in them such as calories and fat. Eating healthy is important for everyone to live a healthy life. You can eat it, but eating it daily is bad for you stay healthy and eat the right foods. Deep fried foods hurt your health in many ways. Eat healthy and exercise to reduce the chances of any health problems.”
In this essay, Tapia writes about deep-fried foods and their effects on people’s health. She says they are high in trans fat, which is detrimental to one’s health. On the other hand, she notes reasons why people still eat foods such as potato chips and french fries, including exercise and simply “making the most of life.” Despite this, Tapia asserts her position that these foods should not be eaten in excess and can lead to a variety of health issues. She encourages people to live healthy lives by enjoying food but not overeating.
“Because while a goal of many vegetables a day is admirable, in the beginning it’s much more sustainable to start with something as little as two. I learned that with an approach of two-vegetable dishes at a time, I would be a lot more consistent, and over time a large variety would become very natural. In fact, now following that framework and cooking a few simple dishes a day, I often find that it’s almost difficult to not reach at least several kinds of vegetables a day.”
Okumura discusses simple, healthy cooking in the Japanese tradition. While many tend to include as many vegetables as possible in their dishes for “health,” Okumura writes that just a few vegetables are necessary to make healthy but delicious dishes. With the help of Japanese pantry staples like miso and soy sauce, she makes a variety of traditional Japanese side dishes. She shows the wonders of food, even when executed in its simplest form.
“I make pesto out of kale stems, toast the squash seeds for salad and repurpose my leftovers into brand new dishes. I love cooking because it’s an exercise in play. Cooking is forgiving in improvisation, and it can often surprise you. For example, did you know that adding ginger juice to your fried rice adds a surprisingly refreshing flavor that whets your appetite? Neither did I, until my housemate showed me their experiment.”
In her essay, Luo writes about her love for food and cooking, specifically how she can combine different ingredients from different cuisines to make delicious dishes. She recalls experiences with her native Chinese food and Italian, Singaporean, and Japanese Cuisine. The beauty of food, she says, is the way one can improvise a dish and create something magical.
4. My Favorite Food by Jayasurya Mayilsamy
“There is no better feeling in the world than a warm pizza box on your lap. My love for Pizza is very high. I am always hungry for pizza, be it any time of the day. Cheese is the secret ingredient of any food it makes any food taste yummy. Nearly any ingredient can be put on pizza. Those diced vegetables, jalapenos, tomato sauce, cheese and mushrooms make me eat more and more like a unique work of art.”
Mayilsamy writes about pizza, a food he can’t get enough of, and why he enjoys it as much as he does. He explains the different elements of a good pizza, such as cheese, tomato sauce, other toppings, and the crust. He also briefly discusses the different types of pizzas, such as thin crust and deep dish. Finally, he gives readers an excellent description of a mouthwatering pizza, reminding them of the feeling of eating their favorite food.
5. Osteria Francescana: does the world’s best restaurant live up to the hype? by Tanya Gold
“After three hours, I am exhausted from eating Bottura’s dreams, and perhaps that is the point. If some of it is delicious, it is also consuming. That is the shadow cast by the award in the hallway, next to the one of a man strangled by food. I do not know if this is the best restaurant on Earth, or even if such a claim is possible. I suspect such lists are designed largely for marketing purposes: when else does Restaurant magazine, which runs the competition, get global coverage for itself and its sponsors?”
Gold reviews the dishes at Osteria Francescana, which is regarded by many as the #1 restaurant in the world. She describes the calm, formal ambiance and the polished interiors of the restaurants. Most importantly, she goes course by course, describing each dish in detail, from risotto inspired by the lake to parmesan cheese in different textures and temperatures. Writing A Perfect Essay About Favorite Food

Table of Contents

Everyone is concerned with matters of nutrition, so this topic is of importance for absolutely anyone reading it. We present you a manual on food essay writing with an outline and advice for the development (and for a balanced diet).
The basic structure of a ‘my favorite food’ essay
Not all students know the importance of healthy eating and a balanced diet. Avoiding bad nutrition and knowing the nutritional principles is important for our health; it helps to avoid food problems.
In the world of young people, this awareness is sometimes lacking, for this reason, a teacher could give you the assignment to write an argumentative essay about food.
In this article, you will find great tips on how to organize your writing, how to structure your essay, and what sources to quote to get a better grade.
How to draw up a topic?
Before starting your argumentative text on food, make an outlay. This tool will help you identify what to talk about in your nutrition topic.
Read the outline carefully and answer: what aspects of the diet science prompt you to argue?
This question is essential to understand what to write about when writing about the relationship between young people and their favorite/staple food.
Introduction
In the first part of your argumentative text on nutrition, you need to talk about the importance of food for health. What distinguishes a balanced diet from poor nutrition? Introduce the problem by pointing out that it is not right to eat only what you like…
In the second part of your favorite food essay writing, focus on the relationship between young people and food. What influences it? What do kids usually know about nutrition?
You can make real references to the diets you have heard of, and that young people follow. It then illustrates what constitutes a balanced diet and, if the outline requires it, what are the essential nutrients in a diet.

What would be the best outline?
My Favorite Food essay: introduction
Food is not only sustenance, but it is also a great part of our culture. Thanks to the energy and the different nutrients that our body takes through food, we can perform all the actions of our day: not only physical efforts but also mental ones work thanks to the calories we introduce.
This fact is even more important for boys, especially during the more delicate phases of their growth, where their development must be accompanied by special nutrition. It is, therefore, necessary to know what distinguishes a balanced diet from an unbalanced one.
To get a higher rating, you can add other famous quotes related to nutrition in general. For instance, you may quote François de La Rochefoucauld’s famous wit’s oeuvre, “To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.”
Essay on my favorite food: the main body
An incorrect diet, in the world of young people, is often linked to the type and quality of the food they eat. Some do not have time to cook, others are not able to, while the rest have to eat out due to force majeure and end up having their meals at fast-food restaurants. It is not wrong to eat only what you want, food should be appreciated, or there would be no taste in eating, the important thing is that your meals are healthy dishes concerning the nutritional principles they bring.
Limiting the concept of healthy to fruit and vegetables, no matter how indispensable, is perhaps the reason why poor nutrition is a widespread problem among young people. Carbohydrates, particularly pasta and rice, are the nutrients that give us the most energy and therefore we need them to play sports and endure the most demanding school days. Finally, the proteins we take with meat or legumes play an indispensable role in the formation of muscles.
Since restaurants are adequately equipped to meet the ethical, physical (allergy) and economic needs of everyone, there should be no excuse of not making changes towards healthier diet plans. In many places today you can eat healthy without sacrificing taste, especially in countries where food has a culture of its own like Italy, France or certain parts of the U.S. like New Orleans. But this is not enough, it is necessary to educate children to have a correct diet to avoid that their relationship with food is balanced. In fact, young people are the most affected by food-related problems because their age is often characterized by difficulties that can turn into eating disorders.
Bonus tips for better grades: If the outline requires it and you have sufficient knowledge on the subject, in light of the considerations made, of how a diet should be set to be correct.
Essay on nutrition: conclusion
The philosopher Feuerbach maintained that “we are what we eat” and in a sense, it is so given that it is scientifically proven that the more balanced a diet is in terms of macro-nutrients the healthier an individual is. Feeding children is no exception to this rule, so it must be explained to them what it means to eat properly. For this reason, it is necessary to pay more attention to the relationship between food and the young.
Even food, in fact, can be a constructive way to expand your educational horizons: learning to cook and propose new recipes to friends, going out to lunch in new places and enjoying typical dishes of different traditions are apparently insignificant experiences, but sometimes able to give flavor to our life especially if shared.
Bonus tips for better grades: A brief mentioning of the relationship between food and culture and how varied it is in the world is what will ensure you a solid A-plus.
Most common mistakes when writing an essay
The 5 classic errors to avoid when writing an essay
- Confuse the subject of an essay with an exercise of pure imagination, free and without constraint.
- Underestimate the difficulty of writing. An essay often seems more pleasant than a dissertation or a commentary of text. But it is far from easy.
- Rush . You have to read the subject two or more times and highlight the key terms.
- Wander off-topic . You have to have a good method to avoid off-topic faux pas. Writing an essay is a methodical and rigorous exercise.
- Breaking the style . To make a good assignment of your essay, one must have a style of writing, vocabulary, and especially good ideas. It’s about writing as if you were a writer. It is not an easy task.
How to avoid mistakes?
How to not…
…sound ungrounded in your essay
Read as much as you can on the subject, and provide evidential backup for everything that you write – save for your conclusions.
…underestimate the difficulty of writing
An essay gives a literary experience of writing, it is, therefore, important to understand, to read, to build, and to interpret.
…take too little time for the assignment
Make sure you collect and organize your ideas before you put them in writing
It is important to stay out of redundancy. Brevity is the soul of wit; focus on summing up the facts relevant for your topic rather than throwing in things that you find easier to write about or those who just are at the top of your mind.
…breach the style
Be wary of the use of colloquial style in your writing, as well as other stylistic errors. The sense of good academic style can be developed as you read works of others. When in doubt, consult a specialist. The professional essay writer will help you improve your writing style and correct your other errors.
Bottom line
The topic of a favorite food can be summed up with one precise quote
“Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are.”
Without doubt, there are only too many things to say on the topic; your task is to pick the ones that reflect your own philosophy, organize them in a logical way, give valid examples and provide scientific evidence, and draw essential conclusions.

Early childhood and food security is a cornerstone for living a healthy and functional adolescent and adult life. When that is compromised, a generational […]

My Favorite Food and Childhood Memories
My favorite food since I have been very young is a hamburger topped with cheese, cooked medium rare. An obvious reason for why this would be my favorite food is the fact that a cheeseburger is the single best tasting food that has ever been prepared. There are, however, many other explanations for my choice, which are rooted in sociological factors related to the environment in which I raised. These factors have no doubt crept themselves into the subconscious of […]

Junk food is ""food that is not good for your health because it is high in fat, sugar, or artificial substances"" (Cambridge Dictionary). A junk food tax would also generate income for significant causes, such as nutrition education, obesity prevention, and improving diet. The goal of the […]

Title: Savoring My Afghan Heritage: Exploring the Role of Cultural, Geographic, and Religious Factors in My Eating Habits
Introduction
Food is not just a source of nourishment; it's a gateway to cultural identity, a journey into history, and a reflection of personal values. As I explore my Afghan heritage through traditional food, I can't help but ponder the complex interplay of cultural, geographic, and religious factors that have influenced my eating habits. In this reflective essay, I'll delve into how these elements shape my relationship with Afghan cuisine.
Cultural Heritage
Afghan cuisine is a tapestry of flavors, reflecting centuries of trade and invasions. My cultural heritage, deeply rooted in Afghan traditions, plays a significant role in my eating habits. The aromas of spices like coriander, cumin, and cardamom remind me of my family's gatherings and celebrations. The communal aspect of Afghan dining, where meals are often shared from a central dish, fosters a sense of togetherness. This tradition has taught me the importance of family bonds and communal harmony, making me more inclined to share meals with loved ones.
Geographic Influence
The place of my parents and grandparents' birth has a profound impact on my eating habits. Afghanistan's diverse geography contributes to a rich culinary heritage. My family hails from different regions, each with its unique culinary traditions. This diversity enriches my palate, from the hearty kabuli pulao of Kabul to the fiery kebabs of Kandahar. These regional influences have encouraged me to explore a wide array of Afghan dishes, connecting me to various aspects of my heritage.
Religious Factors
Religion, a cornerstone of Afghan culture, also plays a role in my eating habits. As a Muslim, I observe dietary restrictions, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. Fasting from sunrise to sunset fosters self-discipline and empathy for the less fortunate. The breaking of the fast, known as iftar, is a moment of joyous feasting with special dishes like bolani and sheer khurma, reinforcing the importance of faith in my eating habits. Moreover, halal dietary laws influence my choices, ensuring that the food I consume adheres to Islamic guidelines.
In summary, my Afghan heritage, geographic roots, and religious beliefs collectively shape my eating habits. These factors have created a profound connection between my cultural identity and the food I savor daily. As I continue to explore the rich tapestry of Afghan cuisine, I find myself not only nourished but also enriched by the traditions, flavors, and values that have been passed down through generations. My relationship with Afghan food is a testament to the enduring influence of culture, geography, and religion in our lives and at our dinner tables.
Answers for the questions:
1A} Cultural Heritage: Cultural heritage plays a significant role in my eating habits when it comes to Afghan traditional food. Growing up in an Afghan family, I have been exposed to the rich and diverse culinary traditions of Afghanistan. This cultural heritage influences my eating habits in the following ways:
- Flavor Preferences: Afghan cuisine is characterized by a unique blend of flavors, including the use of spices like cumin, coriander, and cardamom. These spices are prominent in Afghan dishes and have become a significant part of my flavor preferences. The aromatic and earthy notes of these spices are deeply ingrained in my taste buds.
- Traditional Dishes: Afghan cuisine boasts a variety of traditional dishes that have been passed down through generations. Dishes like kabuli pulao, mantu, and bolani are not just food; they are a connection to our cultural heritage. I often find comfort and a sense of belonging in these dishes.
2A} Parents' and Grandparents' Place of Birth: The birthplaces of my parents and grandparents also play a pivotal role in my eating habits when it comes to Afghan food. Afghanistan's diverse geography and regional variations in cuisine are reflective of this influence:
- Regional Cuisine: Afghanistan's different regions have their own culinary traditions and specialties. For example, if my parents or grandparents hail from a specific region, it is likely that the dishes from that region will hold a special place in our family's culinary repertoire. These regional influences have led to a broader appreciation of Afghan cuisine as a whole.
- Family Recipes: Within Afghan families, there are often family recipes that are specific to a particular region or village. These recipes, passed down through generations, are a way to preserve and honor the culinary traditions associated with the birthplaces of our ancestors. They serve as a link to our roots and a source of cultural pride.
In essence, cultural heritage and the birthplaces of parents and grandparents have a profound impact on my eating habits when it comes to Afghan traditional food. They shape my flavor preferences, the dishes I cherish, and the recipes that hold sentimental value within my family. Afghan cuisine is not just about sustenance; it's a way to connect with our cultural roots, maintain traditions, and pay homage to the diverse culinary tapestry of Afghanistan.
3A} Yes, religion plays a significant role in the eating habits of many Afghans, particularly within the context of Islam. Here's how religion influences eating habits in Afghan culture:
- Halal Dietary Practices: Islam prescribes specific dietary rules, and adherence to halal (permissible) food is a fundamental aspect of Afghan eating habits. This means that certain foods, such as pork and its by-products, are strictly avoided because they are considered haram (forbidden). In addition, the method of animal slaughter and preparation must adhere to Islamic principles to make the meat halal. Many Afghans will only consume meat and poultry that has been prepared in accordance with these guidelines.
- Fasting During Ramadan: The holy month of Ramadan is a significant religious observance for Muslims, including Afghans. During this month, Muslims fast from sunrise (suhoor) to sunset (iftar), refraining from food and drink. The pre-dawn meal (suhoor) and the meal to break the fast (iftar) are integral parts of Ramadan. In Afghan households, these meals often consist of traditional dishes like bolani, sheer khurma, and various other foods. Fasting during Ramadan fosters self-discipline, spiritual reflection, and empathy for the less fortunate.
- Food During Eid Celebrations: Islamic holidays, such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, are celebrated with special meals and feasts in Afghan culture. These meals often include dishes like kebabs, pulao, and various desserts. These celebrations are an essential part of Afghan culture and provide an opportunity for families and communities to come together to mark important religious events.
- Observance of Islamic Dietary Laws: The broader observance of Islamic dietary laws includes ensuring that food is free from contamination or contact with non-halal substances. This might involve separate cooking utensils and dishes for halal and non-halal foods. It is a way for Afghan Muslims to maintain their religious principles and uphold their faith through their eating habits.
In summary, religion, particularly Islamic practices, strongly influences the eating habits of Afghans. Adherence to halal dietary rules, fasting during Ramadan, celebrating Islamic holidays with special meals, and maintaining the integrity of Islamic dietary laws are all important aspects of Afghan eating habits within the context of religion. These practices not only nourish the body but also serve as a means of spiritual connection and cultural identity for Afghan Muslims.

My Favorite Food Essay

500 Words Essay On My Favorite Food
In order to perform well in life, our body needs energy. We get this energy from the food we eat. Without food, there will be no life. In today’s world, there are so many dishes available worldwide. Food comes in a wide variety all around the world. Dosa, Paneer, Naan, Chapati, Biryani, and more Indian delicacies are available. We are also offered western cuisines such as noodles, pasta, burgers, fries, pizzas and more dominating the food industry. In my favourite food essay, I will tell you about the food I like eating the most.

My Favorite Food
As the world is advancing day by day, it is becoming easier to get access to many kinds of food at our doorstep. Every day, we all want to consume great and delicious cuisine. There are many different varieties of food accessible all throughout the world. We all like different foods, however, my personal favourite is burgers. I have eaten many cuisines but my favourite food is definitely a burger. I cannot resist myself when it comes to burgers.
Burgers are one of the most convenient and easiest foods to eat on the fly when we’re in a hurry. We can have a burger at any time of day, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or supper, and maybe some fries and a Coke to go with it. Many restaurants are well-known for making their speciality burgers in a particular style. Preparation changes from one establishment to the next. But what exactly makes a burger taste so good? They will taste vary depending on where you go, but they are all built the same. It is made up of a bun, a ground meat patty, and various toppings like cheese, onion slices, lettuce, and other sauces.
They are so soft yet crunchy, fresh and juicy that I love eating them. Even though there are many kinds of burgers, my favourite one is a chicken burger. The chicken patty gives the burger a juicy taste and it tingles my taste buds every time I eat it. I can already smell and taste it in my mouth as soon as I walked inside McDonald’s or any other restaurant that serves chicken burgers. As soon as I take a huge mouthful of it, I forget about any problems or troubles that are going on in the outer world and concentrate my entire concentration just on my chicken burger.
I love eating a burger which is filled with cheese and vegetables . The more vegetables you add, the better it tastes. My personal favourite is lettuce. It gives the burger the right amount of freshness and crunchiness.
I always eat my burger with ketchup. Most importantly, the thing I love about eating burgers is that I get to eat French fries along with them. They work as a great side to the dish and also make my stomach full.
Even though I liked eating a burger from a famous fast food joint, nothing beats the chicken burger my mother makes at home. She prepares everything from scratch, even the burger. Thus, it is extremely fresh and healthy too.
I know and feel that burgers have the great flavour and taste that would make anyone’s stomach pleased after a long day of work. I can tell by the reactions on people’s faces when they order their preferred burger variant. Overall, I don’t believe any other fast food will taste as good as a chicken burger. It’s just difficult to think that something will triumph in the future. As a result, I consider my favourite dish to be the best ever created.
A Great Variety
Perhaps the great thing about burgers is the great variety they offer. It has options for all people, who prefer vegetarian, non-vegetarian and even vegans. Thus, you can select the patty of your burger and dive right in.
There are a large number of burger joints being started in every corner of the city, each serving a variety of their own specialised and self-curated recipes. Burgers that are health-friendly and a go-to with a diet are also being introduced by these newly upcoming burger places. There are a lot many burger cafes that give their customers the choice to create their own burgers by providing them with a choice between patties, fillings, veggies, sauces as well as the number of burger layers they want.
Even though my personal favourite is a chicken burger, I also enjoy eating cheeseburgers and vegetable burgers. For me, all burgers taste delicious. Whenever we go out to eat with friends , I always order a burger.
My friends who do not eat non-vegetarian also eat burgers thanks to the great variety it offers. When we order food at home, we make sure to offer all kinds of burgers from cheeseburgers to chicken burgers, so that we get a taste of everything in our meal. Thus, I love burgers and their great variety makes it better.

Conclusion of My Favorite Food Essay
Even though my favourite food is a burger, I enjoy other foods as well like Pizza and Pasta. However, I feel when it comes to eating daily, nothing beats homemade food. The food we eat daily is what helps us gain energy. We cannot eat our favourite food daily as it will become boring then, but our staple food is something we enjoy eating on an everyday basis.
FAQ of My Favorite Food Essay
Question 1: Why do we need food?
Answer 1: We need food because it provides nutrients, energy for activity, growth. Similarly, all functions of the body like breathing, digesting food, and keeping warm are made possible because of food. It also helps in keeping our immune system healthy.
Question 2: Should you eat your favourite food all the time?
Answer 2: No, never. Favourite foods are meant to be enjoyed when there is any special occasion, or when you are tired of your regular homemade food. Eating too much of your favourite food will make your taste buds adjust to it and eventually, it will not remain our favourite. Excess of anything is bad and the same goes for our favourite food. Thus, we must eat it occasionally so that it remains our favourite.
Question 3: Is fast food healthy? Should we not consume fast food at all?
Answer 3: Fast food is often high in calories, sodium, and harmful fat, with one meal frequently providing enough for a whole day. It is also deficient in nutrients and nearly devoid of fruit, vegetables, and fibre. That doesn’t mean you should completely avoid fast food. It is feasible to eat fast food without jeopardising your healthy diet. Take advantage of the nutritious side dishes available at many fast-food places. Look for meals that include lean proteins, vegetables, and fibre, and avoid anything that is supersized.

Real Food Restaurant GRILL
Ratings and reviews, location and contact.
I had breakfast every day. Excellent with a variety of food that is rarely seen - Russian and European, Japanese and anything you could think of was there. The restaurant was charming, clean not like many breakfast places I enjoyed it tremendously
I’ve been travelled around the world for 21 years. Been through many restaurants. And today I’ve found one of the Hidden Diamond here in Moscow. The Restaurant name is Real Food Restaurant within Crowne Plaza WTC. Been I’ve been dining here for 2 day in... a row already. The menu I had was Salmon Steak which was perfectly grilled served with just a huge piece of lime. It shows the real taste of perfectly great grilled aroma. It taste awesome even when I had only the Salmon without any side dish. And another menu was Grilled tiger Prawns which also were perfectly grilled served with And the Service personal here are SUPERB i could say. Mr. Alexander the waiter was very professional yet very kind and willingly to fulfilled all my needs even if I made lots and lots of out of the menu requests. And Ms. Natalia the Supervisor were very professional yet kind and supportive to their subordinates and also kindly and super willingly to fulfilled my needs. The Restaurant’s atmosphere were cozy yet luxury. the sofa they provide were so comfortable to sit in even for more than an hour. The light was so bright yet “warm like home”. And the most important of all it was amazingly clean which is necessary for a great restaurant. I will definitely visit this restaurant again the next time I’m here in Moscow. Yours Sincerely More

Hiya hungry folks. If you are hungry and want to eat excellent, delicious food from the best cook. I highly recommend this place.
Great food and great service. Vadim was really helpful in choice making and very professional with the service.
Have been here several times to try different things each time. They have a lovely wine selection, and fresh seasonal tasting menus. You can find steaks as well as inexpensive small things. In the evenings they also have live piano. Great ambiance whether dining alone,... or with business colleagues. More
I've been in business trip again in Moscow. I came down again to have lunch with my colleagues. I’ve been couple months before as Vietnamese food was great, great. I didn’t find it, but order special dish I don’t remember what is the name but... Rabbit Legs with a good plat design. I was impressed with service and food. Kind Regards, Clive. More
My wife and I went to a gourmet evening there on Saturday , what a great meal, the food and wine pairings were fabulous and the service was excellent throughout the evening . It was one of the best meals I have had in Moscow... and a real culinary adventure . More
Nice, quiet and cosy place which is very easy when staying at Crowne Plaza. Service is average, plates are not well sync among the guests receiving their choice at different times. Food itself is also average. Fresh and tasty but an effort should be done... about presentation. Convenient but not a must. More
Restaurant offers wide variety of food and drinks. Good ambiance. Price of course was relatively expensive.
You can get good meat there but the service good be faster. Nice drinks and piano music. Prices are not too high.
Dear PjotrFinland, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad that you liked our food, drinks and piano music. We hope welcome you again at Real Food Restaurant on you next visit to Moscow. Best regards, Dmitriy Motorin, Director of WTC’s Food & Beverage Complex
Having good restaurants in hotels is essential. For people who travel a lot on business, tied up in meetings and conferences day and night there is little opportunity to go further afield. Good food is as important as a good bed. Hotels so often get... this wrong and then make you pay a fortune. The open kitchen layout of the Real Food Restaurant is the first big plus. You can see what they are doing and the aromas tell you a lot about what to expect. Try their herring salad and their grilled rib eye steak. Both are amazing. The wine by the glass is woeful so drink water instead or join a group and buy a bottle. It is a really good restaurant and one reason to stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel if you have business at the World Trade Centre. More
Have eaten here a first time they have a great dinner time menu and all menu in English. The staffs are always helpful. I ordered Russian Food - Sorrel Soup was fantastic and delicious. I am really appreciated for kitchen staff - good job. Also... I ordered “Nems with Ell” was great as in London Vietnam restaurant. There was a live piano music. I loved so much. What I don’t like is fake candles – looks cheap. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will come back to this restaurant as I have got incoming business dinner with my business partner. Many thanks. Kind regards, Clive +447518917871 More

Very few choices for vegetarians on the menu,so I ordered grilled veggies and jasmine rice. It came looking very well presented on the plate but looked quite dry. However it was excellent. The service was very pleasant too
What a wonderful evening. We had the most stunning romantic meal at Real Food. The whole experience was just amazing. The food for every course was outstanding. I could have licked the plate clean. The service is excellent. Knowledgeable and attentive. We were not rushed... but the waitress appeared at the table at exactly the right times. We will definietly dine here again next time we are in Moscow. More
An outstanding experience!!! Prior to dinning in this restaurant, I had made my research based on what my colleagues knew and the review that I had read, as this was a very important and high profile work-related dinner. So I decided to give this place... a fare try. The dinner turned out to be beyond exceptional. Their excellent service, impeccable food, and a very accommodating atmosphere were beyond good. Especially, i wanna give a credit to our very knowledgeable waiter who was on top the service, and there was not even a down minute for the rest of the evening. The place itself was very much clean and had a nice vibe to it. As far as food, I should say that I'm very tough to be pleased with the quality and flavor, so i was very skeptical to order a steak. But..it was a total knockout. This Rib Eye came out excellent, exceeding my expectation. It was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavorful. I've eaten in many GOOD steakhouses before on different occasions, and know what a good steak tastes like, so trust me this was not a miss. In fact, my business partner was very much happy with his meal also. If you have a business lunch/dinner to host, i would recommend going to this restaurant (and ordering a Rib Eye steak). It is a must-try. Cannot wait to go back. More

6 Foods That Help Reduce Anxiety and Depression
A nutritional psychiatrist and chef shares the most powerful foods and nutrients for managing mental health.
Kirsten Nunez has been a health and fitness writer at Real Simple since 2021 and has been writing for nearly a decade.

When you’ve got deadlines to meet and errands to run, navigating anxiety and depression can feel like just another task that’s impossible to tackle. This is especially true when you need to pencil in supportive activities like therapy sessions, exercise classes or daily walks, and phone calls to connect with loved ones. But managing your mental health doesn’t start and stop at the “big” things on your to-do list; your smaller, daily behaviors, like eating meals and snacks, can make a difference in your mood.
Why Food Is Key to Managing Mood
It might not seem obvious, but the foods you eat can significantly contribute to your mental health and stress levels . More specifically, some foods can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, particularly those high in compounds that fight oxidative stress and inflammation—two mechanisms behind mental health issues. (In fact, on the flip side, some of the worst foods for anxiety are those high in inflammatory ingredients.) Similarly, foods rich in gut-friendly nutrients (like probiotics and fiber) can support your mood , as the gut microbiome and brain are so closely related.
Of course, no single food can magically cure anxiety and depression, and food alone isn’t a replacement for treatments like medication or therapy. (It’s also very important not to wait to chat with your doctor if you think you’re experiencing mental health symptoms.) However, if you’re looking for a more well-rounded approach to taking care of your mental health, it’s worth focusing on incorporating lots of these foods that help reduce anxiety and depression severity and prevalence.
Foods to Reduce Anxiety and Depression
According to Uma Naidoo, MD , nutritional psychiatrist, chef, and author of This Is Your Brain on Food and Calm Your Mind with Food , regularly noshing on fatty fish (such as salmon and tuna) can support healthy brain tissue and mental wellbeing , potentially reducing anxiety and depression. They’re packed with omega-3 fats —specifically, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)—which are highly beneficial for the brain, Dr. Naidoo says. Both fats work by protecting the brain from oxidative stress and inflammation, which are “linked to mood disorders like anxiety and depression, as well as neurodegeneration [i.e, the death of nerve cells] that can influence memory loss, brain fog, and cognitive decline,” she explains.
Not a fan of fish? According to Dr. Naidoo, omega-3 fats are also found in plant foods like walnuts and chia seeds . They aren’t absorbed quite as well as the fats in seafood, but they’re a solid alternative with healthy brain benefits nonetheless.
Fermented Foods
Victor Protasio
By now, you’ve probably heard all about the benefits of fermented foods for the gut . But they might also boost your mood, thanks to the link between the gut health and brain health. According to Dr. Naidoo, fermented foods like plain yogurt , kimchi , and tempeh contain live bacterial cultures called probiotics . As Dr. Naidoo explains, these bacteria “replenish the population of good bacteria in the gut, which helps to balance [the] microbiome.” The result is lower inflammation and improved production of neurotransmitters , or chemical messengers that control mood and cognition, she adds.
Leafy Greens
Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard are some of the best foods for brain health , and no wonder: They’re brimming with nutrients that contribute to a healthy mood. Noteworthy examples include polyphenols , vitamin E , and vitamin C, all of which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties—which, again, can help pump the brakes on mental health symptoms. What’s more, vitamin C helps clear the body of excess cortisol, also known as the “stress hormone.” This can further ease feelings of stress and anxiety, according to Dr. Naidoo.
One more time for the folks in the back: A healthy gut equals a healthy brain! So many gut-friendly foods —like those high in fiber—are also great for your noggin. Berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, are prime examples. These richly colored fruits are packed with fiber , a nutrient that aids microbial balance in the gut. This paves the way for a better stress response , improved regulation of neurotransmitters (including serotonin), and lower levels of inflammation and oxidative stress, all of which can ease anxiety and depression.
Plus, berries are teeming with powerful antioxidants called anthocyanins , according to Dr. Naidoo. These compounds, which are also natural pigments that give berries their iconic red-purple-blue hue, support a healthy mood by regulating inflammation, controlling signals between neurons, and balancing the gut.
HUIZENG HU/Getty Images
Shellfish lovers, this one’s for you. Oysters are another great food for anxiety and depression—all thanks to their sky-high content of zinc , an essential mineral. “Zinc regulates levels of the neurotransmitters gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and serotonin, both of which are crucial for mood and stress regulation,” Dr. Naidoo says. For context, adults need about 11 milligrams of zinc per day, and one average-sized oyster contains approximately 5 milligrams, she says. That means eating just two or three oysters per day will help you get enough zinc. But if oysters aren’t your thing, you can also get zinc from “other shellfish like crabs or lobsters, as well as legumes, nuts, and beef,” Dr. Naidoo says.
Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate is another food that can boost your mood, and not just because it tastes so good. This treat is loaded with antioxidant polyphenols, which have been shown to support brain function by controlling neuroinflammation and increasing neurogenesis (aka, the production of new neurons). Dark chocolate also has a prebiotic effect on the gut, meaning it feeds good gut bacteria , ultimately aiding mental wellness via the gut-brain relationship. To top it off, dark chocolate is a source of magnesium , “a nutrient that helps calm the central nervous system [and reduce] anxiety,” says Dr. Naidoo.
