A life story essay involves telling the story of your life in a short, nonfiction format. It can also be called an autobiographical essay. In this essay, you will tell a factual story about some element of your life, perhaps for a college application or for a school assignment.

Preparing to Write Your Essay

Step 1 Determine the goal of your essay.

  • If you are writing a personal essay for a college application, it should serve to give the admissions committee a sense of who you are, beyond the basics of your application file. Your transcript, your letters of recommendation, and your resume will provide an overview of your work experience, interests, and academic record. Your essay allows you to make your application unique and individual to you, through your personal story. [2] X Research source
  • The essay will also show the admissions committee how well you can write and structure an essay. Your essay should show you can create a meaningful piece of writing that interests your reader, conveys a unique message, and flows well.
  • If you are writing a life story for a specific school assignment, such as in a composition course, ask your teacher about the assignment requirements.

Step 2 Make a timeline of your life.

  • Include important events, such as your birth, your childhood and upbringing, and your adolescence. If family member births, deaths, marriages, and other life moments are important to your story, write those down as well.
  • Focus on experiences that made a big impact on you and remain a strong memory. This may be a time where you learned an important life lesson, such as failing a test or watching someone else struggle and succeed, or where you felt an intense feeling or emotion, such as grief over someone’s death or joy over someone’s triumph.

Alicia Cook

  • Have you faced a challenge in your life that you overcame, such as family struggles, health issues, a learning disability, or demanding academics?
  • Do you have a story to tell about your cultural or ethnic background, or your family traditions?
  • Have you dealt with failure or life obstacles?
  • Do you have a unique passion or hobby?
  • Have you traveled outside of your community, to another country, city, or area? What did you take away from the experience and how will you carry what you learned into a college setting?

Step 4 Go over your resume.

  • Remind yourself of your accomplishments by going through your resume. Think about any awards or experiences you would like spotlight in your essay. For example, explaining the story behind your Honor Roll status in high school, or how you worked hard to receive an internship in a prestigious program.
  • Remember that your resume or C.V. is there to list off your accomplishments and awards, so your life story shouldn't just rehash them. Instead, use them as a jumping-off place to explain the process behind them, or what they reflect (or do not reflect) about you as a person.

Step 5 Read some good examples.

  • The New York Times publishes stellar examples of high school life story essays each year. You can read some of them on the NYT website. [8] X Research source

Writing Your Essay

Step 1 Structure your essay around a key experience or theme.

  • For example, you may look back at your time in foster care as a child or when you scored your first paying job. Consider how you handled these situations and any life lessons you learned from these lessons. Try to connect past experiences to who you are now, or who you aspire to be in the future.
  • Your time in foster care, for example, may have taught you resilience, perseverance and a sense of curiosity around how other families function and live. This could then tie into your application to a Journalism program, as the experience shows you have a persistent nature and a desire to investigate other people’s stories or experiences.

Step 2 Avoid familiar themes.

  • Certain life story essays have become cliche and familiar to admission committees. Avoid sports injuries stories, such as the time you injured your ankle in a game and had to find a way to persevere. You should also avoid using an overseas trip to a poor, foreign country as the basis for your self transformation. This is a familiar theme that many admission committees will consider cliche and not unique or authentic. [11] X Research source
  • Other common, cliche topics to avoid include vacations, "adversity" as an undeveloped theme, or the "journey". [12] X Research source

Step 3 Brainstorm your thesis...

  • Try to phrase your thesis in terms of a lesson learned. For example, “Although growing up in foster care in a troubled neighborhood was challenging and difficult, it taught me that I can be more than my upbringing or my background through hard work, perseverance, and education.”
  • You can also phrase your thesis in terms of lessons you have yet to learn, or seek to learn through the program you are applying for. For example, “Growing up surrounded by my mother’s traditional cooking and cultural habits that have been passed down through the generations of my family, I realized I wanted to discover and honor the traditions of other, ancient cultures with a career in archaeology.”
  • Both of these thesis statements are good because they tell your readers exactly what to expect in clear detail.

Step 4 Start with a hook.

  • An anecdote is a very short story that carries moral or symbolic weight. It can be a poetic or powerful way to start your essay and engage your reader right away. You may want to start directly with a retelling of a key past experience or the moment you realized a life lesson.
  • For example, you could start with a vivid memory, such as this from an essay that got its author into Harvard Business School: "I first considered applying to Berry College while dangling from a fifty-food Georgia pine tree, encouraging a high school classmate, literally, to make a leap of faith." [15] X Research source This opening line gives a vivid mental picture of what the author was doing at a specific, crucial moment in time and starts off the theme of "leaps of faith" that is carried through the rest of the essay.
  • Another great example clearly communicates the author's emotional state from the opening moments: "Through seven-year-old eyes I watched in terror as my mother grimaced in pain." This essay, by a prospective medical school student, goes on to tell about her experience being at her brother's birth and how it shaped her desire to become an OB/GYN. The opening line sets the scene and lets you know immediately what the author was feeling during this important experience. It also resists reader expectations, since it begins with pain but ends in the joy of her brother's birth.
  • Avoid using a quotation. This is an extremely cliche way to begin an essay and could put your reader off immediately. If you simply must use a quotation, avoid generic quotes like “Spread your wings and fly” or “There is no ‘I’ in ‘team’”. Choose a quotation that relates directly to your experience or the theme of your essay. This could be a quotation from a poem or piece of writing that speaks to you, moves you, or helped you during a rough time.

Step 5 Let your personality and voice come through.

  • Always use the first person in a personal essay. The essay should be coming from you and should tell the reader directly about your life experiences, with “I” statements.
  • For example, avoid something such as “I had a hard time growing up. I was in a bad situation.” You can expand this to be more distinct, but still carry a similar tone and voice. “When I was growing up in foster care, I had difficulties connecting with my foster parents and with my new neighborhood. At the time, I thought I was in a bad situation I would never be able to be free from.”

Step 6 Use vivid detail.

  • For example, consider this statement: "I am a good debater. I am highly motivated and have been a strong leader all through high school." This gives only the barest detail, and does not allow your reader any personal or unique information that will set you apart from the ten billion other essays she has to sift through.
  • In contrast, consider this one: "My mother says I'm loud. I say you have to speak up to be heard. As president of my high school's debate team for the past three years, I have learned to show courage even when my heart is pounding in my throat. I have learned to consider the views of people different than myself, and even to argue for them when I passionately disagree. I have learned to lead teams in approaching complicated issues. And, most importantly for a formerly shy young girl, I have found my voice." This example shows personality, uses parallel structure for impact, and gives concrete detail about what the author has learned from her life experience as a debater.

Step 7 Use the active voice.

  • An example of a passive sentence is: “The cake was eaten by the dog.” The subject (the dog) is not in the expected subject position (first) and is not "doing" the expected action. This is confusing and can often be unclear.
  • An example of an active sentence is: “The dog ate the cake.” The subject (the dog) is in the subject position (first), and is doing the expected action. This is much more clear for the reader and is a stronger sentence.

Step 8 Apply the Into, Through, and Beyond approach.

  • Lead the reader INTO your story with a powerful beginning, such as an anecdote or a quote.
  • Take the reader THROUGH your story with the context and key parts of your experience.
  • End with the BEYOND message about how the experience has affected who you are now and who you want to be in college and after college.

Editing Your Essay

Step 1 Put your first draft aside for a few days.

  • For example, a sentence like “I struggled during my first year of college, feeling overwhelmed by new experiences and new people” is not very strong because it states the obvious and does not distinguish you are unique or singular. Most people struggle and feel overwhelmed during their first year of college. Adjust sentences like this so they appear unique to you.
  • For example, consider this: “During my first year of college, I struggled with meeting deadlines and assignments. My previous home life was not very structured or strict, so I had to teach myself discipline and the value of deadlines.” This relates your struggle to something personal and explains how you learned from it.

Step 3 Proofread your essay.

  • It can be difficult to proofread your own work, so reach out to a teacher, a mentor, a family member, or a friend and ask them to read over your essay. They can act as first readers and respond to any proofreading errors, as well as the essay as a whole.

A life story essay is an essay that tells the story of your life in a short, nonfiction format. Start by coming up with a thesis statement, which will help you structure your essay. For example, your thesis could be about the influence of your family's culture on your life or how you've grown from overcoming challenging circumstances. You can include important life events that link to your thesis, like jobs you’ve worked, friendships that have influenced you, or sports competitions you’ve won. Consider starting your essay with an anecdote that introduces your thesis. For instance, if you're writing about your family's culture, you could start by talking about the first festival you went to and how it inspired you. Finish by writing about how the experiences have affected you and who you want to be in the future. For more tips from our Education co-author, including how to edit your essay effectively, read on! What image comes to mind when you think of a person in their 20s?

Do you imagine an adult stressed out by the weight of many new responsibilities in family and work roles?

Or do you envision someone who is bursting with hope and undeveloped potential, still more of a kid than an adult, struggling to define a life and making little or no money but managing to find occasional joy nevertheless? Perhaps your soundtrack here is Taylor Swift’s radiant “22” : “We’re happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time. It’s miserable and magical.”

How about when you think of someone in their 60s?

Do you envision someone – or maybe a happy couple – enjoying life, living well, still vigorous but now freer than before from daily work and family duties?

Or do you see someone who is stooped over from a lifetime of carrying burdens, their health diminished, now shuffling toward no particular destination? Here the soundtrack might be the doleful Beatles song “ When I’m 64 ”: “Will you still need me? Will you still feed me? When I’m 64?”

The whole arc of adult development has changed over the past several decades, in ways that our psychological theories are still catching up with. In the 21st century, does it still make sense to refer to “young adulthood,” “midlife” and “late adulthood,” as psychologists have been doing for so long? If not, what are more accurate concepts?

Most of my career as a developmental psychologist has been devoted to answering these questions. My theory of emerging adulthood recognizes that the lives of younger adults have changed vastly since the 1960s. As the father of 22-year-old twins, I’m keenly aware of their journey through the new life stage I have been researching and writing about for so long. As a 64-year-old, I’m also turning my attention to how the 60s have changed from what they used to be.

A longer-than-ever journey to adulthood

In my research over the past two decades, I’ve found that people ages 19 to 29 are neither fully adult nor in an “extended adolescence” – as this time of life was viewed over the course of the 20th century. In the early 21st century, these years had become a time of gradually and often erratically making one’s way toward a more established adulthood .

I invited scholars from all over the world to contribute to a special issue of American Psychologist, one of the top journals in psychology, on the theme of “Rethinking Adult Development: New Ideas for New Times.” The recently published results are a wonderfully diverse set of papers that go a long way toward reconceptualizing what adult development looks like now and where it might be going.

Most of the authors were developmental psychologists. About half were Americans and half were Europeans, although Shinobu Kitayama and his colleagues offered a refreshingly different Asian cultural perspective.

Here are some of the highlights:

– Ages 30 to 45 are now “the rush hour of life.” Today people around the world wait later than ever to marry and have kids, and most have only one or two. But then couples typically have the dual challenge of trying to move ahead in their careers while also handling the intense responsibilities of caring for young children. Women have vastly greater opportunities in education and work than they did in 1960, which is welcome but also presents new challenges and stresses.

In their contribution to the special issue, Clare Mehta and her colleagues propose the term “established adulthood” to distinguish these years as the most intense and demanding years of adult life, characterized by the “career-and-care-crunch,” when obligations are high in both work and family roles.

– In midlife – ages 45-60 – the crunch years of caring for young children abate. Adults reach their peak career earnings and status in their late 40s and 50s. But life can become complicated, as new responsibilities may arise with grandchildren and with aging parents who need more assistance.

Overall, as Frank Infurna and colleagues detail in their contribution, mental health declines in midlife. Reports of depression and anxiety increase. Seeking professional help for mental health issues reaches a lifetime peak.

Furthermore, midlife well-being, health and life expectancy have declined notably in the U.S. since 2000, especially among working-class adults who have been left behind by the information-and-technology economy. This has led to an epidemic of “deaths of despair” from suicide, opioid overdoses or alchoholism.

– Adults in later life, ages 60-75, are thriving like never before. Although life after age 60 is traditionally regarded as a time of inevitable decline, the reality of it has become sharply different –and better – in recent decades.

Life expectancy at birth is higher now than it has ever been, worldwide, and adults are smarter and healthier for longer than ever. Denis Gerstorf and his colleagues show how these positive trends have taken place across many countries over the past century because of improvements in education, nutrition and health care.

Physical health issues do arise with age for most people, but more people than ever before stay healthy through their 60s and early 70s by maintaining healthy diet and physical exercise practices. One of the exciting recent findings highlighted in Ursula Staudinger’s article is that regular exercise promotes mental health as well as physical well-being, helping to maintain mental sharpness and prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

Life satisfaction also seems to rise in later life, as we gain a new freedom to choose the kind of work we do – or stop working altogether and spend more time with the people we care about most. According to Phillip Ackerman and Ruth Kanfer , more people are working into their late 60s and early 70s than ever before, but they have more freedom to choose how they do it, whether it’s working part time, starting a small business or trying something they have always wanted to do.

Adulthood’s new arc requires new concepts and ideas

Over my decades of writing about emerging adulthood, I’ve learned that it matters how people think about the stages of human development. Thinking shapes expectations and how experiences are interpreted. Lots of compelling and exciting new findings about adult development point to the importance of rethinking previous theories, assumptions and stereotypes about the course of adult life.

Family life-cycle stages.

1141 words | 4 page(s)

Introduction Family Life-Cycle comprises the emotional and intellectual stages that individuals go through from childhood to the retirement age. These stages are; Single adulthood, committed long-term relationships, becoming parents, divorce/relationship termination and remarriage/re-partnering and Older adulthood. At each stage, there are transitions that may be challenging but that allow one to acquire and develop new skills. These skills enable one to go through the transformations that all families must go through. However, all families do not go through transitions similarly or easily. Issues like financial challenges, severe illness or death of a family member bears significant effects on how well one goes from one stage to the other.

This paper analyzes common sexuality-related transitions at each stage. It also examines how research and theory characterize positive sexual functioning during each stage. In the end, there will be a brief description on how the author might intervene to assist clients from a Psychology practice point of view using the information gathered.

Use your promo and get a custom paper on "Family Life-Cycle Stages".

Describe two common sexuality-related transitions or concerns at each stage.

Single Adulthood Sexual beliefs incorporate individual, religious, philosophical and ideological perspectives. Today, there are more single adults and adults who live a single lifestyle by choice than there were in the past. There is a heightened pursuit of educational and career prospects in order to keep up with the economic challenges. As a result, adults get married later in life (Rossi, 1994). Single men that remain voluntary un-attached or unmarried stay away from any committed relationships in terms of quality of longevity (Rossi, 1994). They are thus at a high risk of engaging in indiscriminate or risky sexual behavior which makes them susceptible to sexually transmitted diseases. Women unintentionally get pregnant because they are sexually active outside of committed relationships. They may also form intimate companionate relationships with other women (Rossi, 1994).

Committed, long-term relationships In committed relationships, each partner is required to channel their sexual desire and energy exclusively to their partner. However, there may be the issue of sexual boredom and infidelity. Sexual boredom gets accompanied by insensible hostility due to unrealistic expectations, inhibitions and guilt. If the relationship is that of marriage, it may result in divorce.

Becoming parents When young couples become parents, they experience a disrupted sex life. Women focus their energy on their child, leading their partner to feel neglected. The man may get concerned about the physical and emotional changes of their partner while women may not feel attractive enough to have sex.

Divorce/relationship termination and remarriage/re-partnering The sexual attitudes among divorced people and among those that have terminated their relationships are more permissive than those among married and single people (Ellis & Abarbanel, 2013). Additionally, a marriage or intimate sexual relationship that went wrong translates into a deteriorated sex life (Ellis & Abarbanel, 2013). Divorced people or those just out of a relationship will rush to repair an emotionally painful period in the process of seeking validation and love (Ellis & Abarbanel, 2013). They are vulnerable at this stage as they may settle for anything that may pass off as love to reassure themselves of desirability. Sexuality in remarriage or re-partnering may be motivated mostly by the need for acceptance and security in women. Men may desire to re-establish physical contact in remarriage. These reasons are not limited to the respective gender as each motivation can and does apply in both cases.

Older adulthood Sexuality concerns and transitions in older adulthood include a decreased sexual desire and a presence of desire but an inability to perform. Decreased sexual desire is attributed to erectile dysfunction in men and menopause in women. These factors in turn cause stress, fatigue and boredom (DeLamater & Karraker, 2009). Provide two examples of how research and theory characterize positive sexual functioning during each stage.

Single adulthood Sexual functioning may be influenced by factors representing psychological, biological and social environments interaction (Ellis & Abarbanel, 2013). Positive sexual functioning in single adulthood is enhanced by virility and desire devoid of inhibitions that come with a committed relationship (Ellis & Abarbanel, 2013). In single adulthood, there is relative positive sexual self-awareness that may contribute to positive sexual functioning as opposed to during adolescence. In the adolescent stage, there are a lot of uncertainties which lead to unhealthy sexual functions.

Committed, long-term relationships Committed long-term relationships offer a sense of security due to reciprocated love which contributes positively to sexual function (Ellis & Abarbanel, 2013). Long-term relationships also offer both the benefit of meaningful intimacy and sexual pleasure in a safe environment. It avoids the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and recklessness where both partners are committed and faithful to one another.

Becoming parents When becoming parents, the couple tends to be strapped for time to pay attention to each other’s sexual needs, albeit temporarily. At this stage, positive sexual function is enhanced by a need to be more creative in allocating time for sex. The sexual experience is different from before parenthood as it is more qualitative, mainly for the purpose of reconnecting and intimacy (Frayser & Whitby, 1995).

Divorce/relationship termination and remarriage/re-partnering Divorce and termination of a relationship motivates a need for introspection. Divorced individuals or those who have terminated their relationships are open to embrace change and new, better opportunities. A positive outlook on life that signifies a fresh start translates into better sexual function (Frayser & Whitby, 1995). When an ideal partner is met as a result of re-partnering and remarriage, the result is a satisfying sexual life that is characterized by acceptance and new beginnings.

Older adulthood Older adults usually have already gone through the milestones of parenting and relationship challenges. Positive changes in older adulthood sexual function can be attributed to increased sexual agency (DeLamater & Karraker, 2009). Older adults have a better capacity to make independent sexual choices devoid of influence or coercion. A sense of agency cultivates confidence that is necessary for positive sexual function. Older adults are not worried about getting pregnant which offers a sense of freedom to have sex at whatever time they please (DeLamater & Karraker, 2009).

Briefly describe how you might intervene or use this information to assist clients. I would use the information to help clients understand that the challenges that they may face during any stage of the family are temporary and rectifiable. I would advise them to take charge of, and make helpful decisions concerning their sexual well-being so as to promote both their health and the health of their partner. For example, I would assist the divorced in getting back to the place of positive self-identity before seeking out other relationships.

Human Life Cycle - Free Essay Examples and Topic Ideas

The human life cycle is a continuous process of growth and development from birth to death. It typically begins with infancy, where an individual is wholly dependent on others for survival, followed by childhood, a period of rapid physical and cognitive growth. Adolescence marks the transition from childhood to adulthood, characterized by physical, emotional and social changes. During adulthood, individuals are typically productive members of society, pursuing careers, building relationships, and starting families. Old age is the final phase, where physical and cognitive abilities may decline, and individuals may rely more on others for assistance. Ultimately, death marks the end of the life cycle, highlighting the impermanence of human existence.

Relevance of conducting a life cycle analysis from a business prospective

The cradle to grave life cycle of a newspaper.

Environmental awareness is on the rise, and industries and businesses are evaluating ways through which their activities impinge on the environment. In response to this awareness, businesses have provided green products and are using greener processes as well as environmental management tools in their production of goods and services. An example of such a tool is life cycle analysis, also referred to as life cycle assessment.

Conducting a life cycle analysis is one of the most important processes done today for the successful implementation of environmental sustainability. One of the uses of this process is identifying and categorizing decisive areas whereby the environmental performance of a product can be made better.

Businesses will prefer life cycle analysis because of its unique characteristics unlike other environmental sustainability systems; for example, it covers all the environmental releases and processes beginning with raw material extraction as well as energy production used in the creation of products, in addition to the use of the products and their final disposal.

It is therefore relevant when deciding between two alternatives, as it can help decision-makers make comparisons on the major impacts caused by goods, services or processes (Seliger, Khraisheh, & Jawahir, 2011).

As a cradle to grave process, life cycle analysis evaluates every stage of the life of a product. The process is also relevant for businesses because it makes it possible to estimate the cumulative environmental effects that result from all the stages involved in the product’s life cycle.

These effects may not be included in other methods of analysis, for example effects of raw material extraction or effects son product disposal. This way, the analysis process enables businesses to have a comprehensive view of the various environmental aspects of the product as well as a more accurate image of the real environmental trade-offs involved (Cohen, 2010).

Raw material extraction and processing

Newspapers, just like other types of papers, are made of connected fibers. These fibers are obtained from a variety of sources including plants, trees, or even cloth rags. For newspapers, sawmills provide the fiber. Strong paper is usually made from coniferous trees because the fibers found in the pulp of these trees make strong paper.

The trees are referred to as softwood trees. The increasing demand for paper has however led to the use of almost every species of trees to extract logs. These trees undergo the logging process, which can be achieved using sawmills (Ranchhod & Marandi, 2012).

Manufacturing

The first step in manufacturing is making pulp. Various processes are used to convert logs to wood pulp. The mechanical process is a commonly used process; here, logs are crushed in big drums to remove bark. Subsequently, they are taken to grinders, that press them hard between big revolving slabs.

The filtering process then follows. The chemical process can also be used to make pulp; here, wood chips are cooked from de-barked logs in a chemical solution found in digesters. At the digesters, the chips are boiled at a high-pressure solution of sodium sulfide and sodium hydroxide. It is at this stage that bleach or colorings are added. From this process, the pulp is taken to the paper plant (Ranchhod & Marandi, 2012).

The process of converting the pulp to paper begins at the beating process; here, the pulp is squeezed with machine beaters. Several filler materials are also added at this process, such as chalks, chemicals, clays or even titanium oxide. The final process involves taking the pulp to big automated machines that have moving conveyer belts.

Here, water is drained off and the pulp is then taken to the press section, and over steam-heated cylinders for further drying. This paper is then wound on big reels and further processed using metal rollers c calendars that give it the desired finish (Ranchhod & Marandi, 2012).

Purchase, use, and disposal

The newspaper printing process is responsible for the purchase and use of papers from the paper mill, for use by the printing press of newspapers. During newspaper printing, a lot of energy and raw materials are consumed, for example inks and printing plates. The printing press purchases paper from the paper mill.

The disposal of newspaper is done through several ways. One is recycling, whereby the newspapers are taken back to the paper mill and, using chemical processes, are transformed anew. Land filling can also be used to dispose of the newspapers (Hesselbach & Herrmann, 2011).

Waste management

Waste management in the life cycle analysis of newspapers is done in various phases of the cycle. A thorough analysis of this process reveals that it is during the paper mill stage that the most emissions are produced. It is also in this stage that the most resources are consumed, largely because of its high-energy consumption. The landfilling process is also responsible for high emissions, considering the high methane emissions of the disposal process compared to other stages of the life cycle.

Various waste management solutions are developed, and the following conclusions and recommendations can be established. The inclusion of the production stages of the waste management process, this can help in obtaining a realistic picture of the relevance of the individual life cycle phases on the general impacts (Dahlbo et al, 2005).

Paper is one of the biggest contributors of solid waste components. It is also a material that originates from a very important natural resource whose maintenance and sustainability is crucial, the forest. It is recommended that during the manufacture process, newspapers can be co-combusted or incinerated. These modern waste management processes have the capability to decrease using de-inked pulp.

Otherwise, using virgin fiber-based pulp in the manufacture of newsprint is more effective. During the treatment and waster recovery stage, it is important to remember that landfilling of newspapers in their untreated state is environmentally worse compared to their energy recover (Hesselbach & Herrmann, 2011). In its disposal management, the combustion of newspaper using solid recovered fuel, rather than coal can save significant amount of energy.

Old age is one of the most challenging stages of the life cycle as persons within this age group face the harsh realities of growing and becoming unwanted by many persons in their lives. The diet plan for the group is important as the elderly faces physical, mental and emotional stressors that affect their eating habits and in turn lower the level of nutrients in the body. Dietary care for the elderly is especially important as it is “the final stage of the normal life span” (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2016). The definition for this group of persons differs because of demography, including morbidity and mortality, sociology and employment and retirement. But, the common age boundaries for the elderly are defined as 60 or 65 years of age or older (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2016). This period marks the final stage of the life processes. According to nutritionist, Ivy Morris nutritional problems in the elderly results in complications that weaken the immune system and lower the level of energy in the body and further cause chronic health problems in these persons. Therefore, it is necessary to create diets that will change the intake of calories and other nutrients so that the elderly can have a balanced diet that will foster proper growth and development. Persons who care for the elderly and plan their diets must be cognizant of the daily nutrients that the elderly need in order to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. The diets of the elderly must include foods that are rich in magnesium, vitamins A, C, D and B12. Additionally, foods that are high in fiber, green leafy vegetables, low fat and non-fat milk, whole grains, and milk products are more important to the diets of the elderly as these products will help to replenish the lost nutrients. The elderly should avoid salt and instead eat foods that are seasoned with olive oil and herbs. The elderly often have a strong craving for sweet. This craving should not be ignored, but instead of allowing elderly persons to consume artificial sweeteners, the elderly should be encouraged to eat foods that contain natural sweeteners such as fruits and foods that are cooked using sweet peppers. Finally, the elderly are often dehydrated and therefore, it is recommended that the elderly should be encouraged to consume at least 1.7 liters of liquid daily. Liquids often vitally important as the chronic medical conditions and medication lead to dehydration. Those who are conscious of overactive bladders become attuned to being thirsty and will avoid drinking water. But, dehydration leads to constipation, kidney failure, heat injuries and headaches and dizziness among others. In concluding, the elderly require carefully prepared meals as the right balance of nutrients, liquids and vitamins in the body will help to alleviate common medical conditions. Green leafy vegetables and regular intake of water help to relieve constipation, headaches and dizziness. Milk and its by-products replenish the calcium that the body needs to maintain active bones structure. With this in mind, those who plan meals for the elderly must be aware of the nutritional needs of their patients and carefully plan these meals for the elderly. Simple Diet Plan for the Elderly

My Life Essay - 100, 200, 500 Words

Life is the state of being alive and the experience of living. It is a characteristic that distinguishes physical entities with biological processes, such as growth, reproduction, and response to stimuli, from those without such processes. Life is a complex and diverse phenomenon that encompasses a wide range of forms and functions. Life can be found in every corner of the earth, from the tiniest microorganisms to the largest animals. It is a precious and fragile thing, and scientists continue to study and understand more about the intricacies of life every day.

100 Words on My Life Essay

200 words on my life essay, 500 words on my life essay.

My Life Essay - 100, 200, 500 Words

My life has been a journey of growth and learning. From a young age, I have always been curious and eager to explore the world around me. I have had many experiences that have shaped who I am today. Growing up in a small town gave me a sense of community and belonging while also allowing me to develop a love for nature and the outdoors.

My education has also played a significant role in shaping my life. I have always been a dedicated student and have worked hard to achieve my goals. I have learned valuable lessons about perseverance and determination, and I have been able to apply these lessons to other areas of my life.

My life has been a journey full of ups and downs, but overall it has been a fulfilling and meaningful experience.

Routine of My Daily Life

I am a student, and I have always been passionate about learning. My daily routine starts with waking up early in the morning, and I usually wake up at 6 am. I get dressed and have my breakfast, which generally includes cereal or toast with some fruit. After breakfast, I spend some time reviewing my notes and studying for my upcoming exams.

I then head off to school, where I spend most of my day attending classes and participating in various activities. I am involved in several extracurricular activities, such as sports, debate teams and volunteering which keeps me busy and active. After school, I come back home and spend some time doing my homework and finishing any pending assignments.

Overall, my life is filled with a balance of work and play. I am always busy, but I make sure to make time for the things that matter most to me. I believe that life is about making the most of every opportunity and making the most of every moment. I am grateful for the experiences that I have had, and I am excited about the future.

Life is a journey full of ups and downs, opportunities, and challenges. It is unique for everyone and it is something that we all have to experience on our own. As a student, my life is currently focused on school and my future aspirations. There have been some important moments in my life that I will always remember, and I am always looking for ways to improve my life.

Memorable Life Experiences

One of the most important moments in my life was when I received my first acceptance letter from a university. It was a moment of pride and accomplishment, and it made me feel like all of my hard work had finally paid off. This moment inspired me to work even harder and to strive for success in all of my future endeavours.

Another important moment that made me incredibly proud was when I received the first prize in an inter-school science competition. I had been working on my project for months, conducting experiments, analysing data, and perfecting my presentation. The competition was fierce, with students from all over the city presenting their projects.

How I Felt | When my name was called as the winner, I was overwhelmed with emotion. All of my hard work and dedication had paid off, and I was being recognized for my achievements. The audience erupted into applause, and I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment that I will never forget.

Despite these positive moments, there have also been challenges that I have had to face. One of the biggest challenges I have faced is balancing my schoolwork and extracurricular activities. It can be difficult to find the time to study, participate in sports and clubs, and still have time for my friends and family. However, I have learned that time management and prioritisation are important skills to have, and I am always working to improve in these areas.

Moving forward, I have many aspirations for my future. I hope to continue my education and obtain a degree in a field that I am passionate about. I also want to travel the world and experience different cultures, and to use my education and skills to make a positive impact on others.

Volunteer Activities

I have also been involved in several volunteer activities, and I have found them to be incredibly rewarding. I have volunteered for various causes, such as helping out at homeless shelters and working with underprivileged children. It has given me a sense of purpose, and it has made me realise the importance of giving back to society.

In order to achieve my goals, I know that I need to continue to work hard and to be proactive. I want to stay focused and determined, and to never give up on my dreams. I also want to continue to learn and grow, and to always be open to new opportunities and experiences.

My life has been a journey that has been full of memorable experiences. I have had my fair share of ups and downs, but I have learned to appreciate and make the most of every moment. I am grateful for the people in my life, and I am excited to see what the future holds.

100 Words Essay on My First Experience of Riding a Bicycle

Discovering the bicycle.

As a child, I always found bicycles fascinating. The way they moved, the freedom they promised was truly captivating. One sunny day, my father promised to teach me how to ride.

The First Attempt

The joy of success.

After several attempts, I finally managed to ride a few meters unaided. The moment was exhilarating. That day, I discovered a new sense of freedom and self-confidence. Riding a bicycle was indeed a memorable experience.

250 Words Essay on My First Experience of Riding a Bicycle

Introduction.

My first experience of riding a bicycle was a fusion of exhilaration and fear, a rite of passage that marked the transition from childhood to a semblance of adulthood. The bicycle, a symbol of freedom and mobility, stood before me, a challenge to be surmounted.

The Preparation

The day of reckoning arrived. With a racing heart and clammy hands, I mounted the bicycle. My father, my guide in this new adventure, held the back of the seat, providing the necessary balance. As I pushed off, I felt a rush of adrenaline, a sense of impending freedom. The initial wobbles were a stark reminder of the challenge ahead.

The Triumph

The moment of triumph came unexpectedly. My father let go, and I was cycling on my own, a feat that seemed impossible just moments before. The wind rushed against my face, the world blurred around me, and I was flying, liberated from the constraints of pedestrian life.

My first experience of riding a bicycle was a lesson in perseverance, resilience, and the joy of overcoming obstacles. It was a testament to the human spirit’s ability to conquer fear and embrace new experiences. It was more than just a physical activity; it was a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

500 Words Essay on My First Experience of Riding a Bicycle

The first glimpse.

My first encounter with a bicycle was a memorable experience that has been etched in my mind since childhood. It was a shiny red bicycle, standing majestically in the corner of our garage, waiting for its rider. As a child, I was both intimidated and fascinated by it. The bicycle represented a rite of passage, a step towards independence, and an exciting challenge to conquer.

Preparation and Anticipation

Before I could embark on this adventure, I had to prepare myself. I spent countless hours observing my older siblings, who were already adept at riding. I watched their every move, trying to understand the balance and coordination required. I also spent time learning about the bicycle itself, its parts, and their functions. This phase was filled with anticipation and a sense of impending achievement.

The Initial Struggles

Lessons in perseverance.

Despite the initial struggles, I did not give up. I was determined to master this skill. Each fall was followed by an immediate attempt to get back on the bicycle. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance and resilience. It was a practical lesson in the saying, “If you fall seven times, stand up eight.” It was a testament to the human spirit’s ability to overcome challenges and learn from failures.

The Moment of Triumph

After numerous attempts, I finally managed to ride the bicycle without falling. The feeling was exhilarating. It was a moment of triumph that filled me with a sense of accomplishment. I was no longer a mere observer but an active participant. I had learned to control and balance the bicycle, thus overcoming my fears and proving to myself that I could conquer challenges.

Reflection and Growth

Looking back, my first experience of riding a bicycle was more than just a childhood adventure. It was a journey of personal growth and learning. It taught me the importance of patience, perseverance, and resilience. It was a physical embodiment of the struggles we face in life and the triumph that follows when we refuse to give up.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

To Serve His Country, President Biden Should Leave the Race

President Biden standing behind a lectern with CNN’s name appearing repeatedly beyond him.

The editorial board is a group of opinion journalists whose views are informed by expertise, research, debate and certain longstanding values . It is separate from the newsroom.

President Biden has repeatedly and rightfully described the stakes in this November’s presidential election as nothing less than the future of American democracy.

Donald Trump has proved himself to be a significant jeopardy to that democracy — an erratic and self-interested figure unworthy of the public trust. He systematically attempted to undermine the integrity of elections. His supporters have described, publicly, a 2025 agenda that would give him the power to carry out the most extreme of his promises and threats. If he is returned to office, he has vowed to be a different kind of president, unrestrained by the checks on power built into the American political system.

Mr. Biden has said that he is the candidate with the best chance of taking on this threat of tyranny and defeating it. His argument rests largely on the fact that he beat Mr. Trump in 2020. That is no longer a sufficient rationale for why Mr. Biden should be the Democratic nominee this year.

At Thursday’s debate, the president needed to convince the American public that he was equal to the formidable demands of the office he is seeking to hold for another term. Voters, however, cannot be expected to ignore what was instead plain to see: Mr. Biden is not the man he was four years ago.

The president appeared on Thursday night as the shadow of a great public servant. He struggled to explain what he would accomplish in a second term. He struggled to respond to Mr. Trump’s provocations. He struggled to hold Mr. Trump accountable for his lies, his failures and his chilling plans. More than once, he struggled to make it to the end of a sentence.

Mr. Biden has been an admirable president. Under his leadership, the nation has prospered and begun to address a range of long-term challenges, and the wounds ripped open by Mr. Trump have begun to heal. But the greatest public service Mr. Biden can now perform is to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election.
