| Soon after the admission of the candidate, on the recommendation of the Board of Postgraduate Studies, the Vice-Chancellor shall constitute a Research Committee comprising the following: Supervisor Two members holding PhD degree in the relevant field from within or outside the University. One member holding PhD degree from amongst the members of the Board of Postgraduate Studies. The Research Committee shall evaluate the progress made by the student at the end of first year in case of full-time student and at the end of second year in case of part-time student. Performance of the student will be evaluated by the Committee through presentation of his work on the date notified by the Director Advanced Studies, Research and Technological Development on the recommendation of the Supervisor. On the positive recommendations of the Committee, the student will be allowed to continue his work; otherwise he may be dropped from the PhD program.During the first year of studies every student shall submit monthly report to the Vice-Chancellor on prescribed form through the Directorate of Advanced Studies, Research and Technological Development. In case the report is unsatisfactory, admission of the student shall be cancelled forthwith. For second year onwards, quarterly report instead of monthly report shall be submitted. On the completion of his research work to the satisfaction of the supervisor, the student shall embody the results of his research in a thesis, written in English. The thesis must make a distinct contribution to knowledge and give evidence of original research. Thesis may be submitted within a minimum period of three years in case of full-time student and five years in case of part-time student. This period may be extended up to maximum of six years in case of full time student and eight years in case of part-time student. This period shall be counted from the date of registration. The student shall submit seven copies of his thesis written on a prescribed format to the Research Committee who shall first evaluate the thesis and shall ascertain that at least one research paper, from the PhD work of the student, has been accepted for publication in a refereed international research Journal. Two copies of the thesis shall be sent to two foreign experts to be appointed by the Research Committee for their evaluation. Based on the work done and the evaluation report of the foreign experts, the Research Committee shall submit its report to the Director Advanced Studies, Research and Technological Development on a prescribed form recommending that: As the thesis is satisfactory, oral examination may be arranged to enable the student to defend his thesis, or The thesis be resubmitted by the student after revision according to the directions of the Committee/foreign experts. In case of (c) (i), the Vice-Chancellor, on the recommendation of the Board of Postgraduate Studies, shall appoint the panel of Examiners comprising the following: The supervisor who shall act as the internal examiner. Two external examiners (out of the panel of four). The Controller of Examinations shall notify the panel of Examiners, date and place of Examination.The examiners shall conduct the oral examination. Each member shall submit his report recommending that: The candidate be declared to have satisfied the examiners, or The candidate should again appear for oral examination, after a stipulated period. The candidate shall be admitted to PhD degree provided he has been declared to have satisfied the examiners during the oral examination in accordance with the regulations.
